Warning
January 27, 2026

I do not recommend CreditCare. They freeze accounts, which allows interest and fees to continue piling up, making the situation worse instead of better. Their customer service is unprofessional and unhelpful, and they do not communicate honestly. I feel misled and regret trusting this company. Please be very careful before signing up.

THE INTEREST RATE ALONE WILL HAVE YOU OWEING FOR LIFE. I have noticed that the balance is is almost double over the allowed credit. I would love to be apart of class action law suit.

I made a final payment of $6,834.42 on June 10,2025, to completely pay off and close my CareCredit account with Synchrony Bank (account ending in 3120). The representative confirmed my account would be paid in full and closed. Weeks later, I received a new charge of $156.74. When I called for clarification, a representative named Sandra was rude and dismissive, telling me that interest would continue even after the account was closed — which makes absolutely no sense and contradicts what I was told when I made my final payment. I paid the $156.74 under protest, but this experience has been extremely frustrating and unfair. It feels like predatory lending, keeping customers in unnecessary debt even after full payment. Because of this situation, I was left unable to pay for my pet's veterinary care when I needed it most. I strongly caution others to think twice before using CareCredit or Synchrony Bank. They do not communicate clearly, they mishandle accounts, and they treat loyal customers with disrespect.

The card does not allow you to apply a payment to a specific promo. So if you add a second promo after you already have one, the payment goes to all promos and makes a trap whereby you may think you have paid off a promo but the payment was distributed to both purchases and you end up being charged the deferred interest because they do not allow you to easily apply your payments to specific plans, which is generally an option with other deferred interest promotional accounts.

Be very careful
February 27, 2025

When using CareCredit they will automatically enroll you into their own security program that automatically takes money out of your account so you will not pay off your account in the allotted time so they can then charge you their huge interest rate. Make sure you check your monthly statements! It is a pretty sneaky way to make sure you can't pay off your loan!

I applied for a Care Credit card & received a $1,000 credit limit. I used the card for prescription eyeglasses & paid off the debt before the promotional free interest period. A few months later, I check my CC card account & see that they lowered my credit limit to $290. I called Synchrony Bank (the bank that issues CC cards) they said the reduction in my limit was due to my credit report. My credit is clean, & only improving since being approved for CC card! So I go check my credit report & it was Synchrony Bank's second HARD CREDIT CHECK to look at my credit long after originally approving my CC card. Sychrony Banks ding on my credit was the reason for my lowered credit score! I had always paid on time never missed a payment, which most card companies reward with an increase, not a decrease in credit limit. I used the card a few more times, & they charge $2 for a paper bill which I opted out for the first purchase. They tack this paper billing back on when you make a new purchase with the card. Then, I went to the vet a couple days ago, my balance on my CC card was paid off & I went to pay for vet services & found out that my card was repeatedly declined. I called Synchrony bank & was informed that my account was closed & they sent me a letter, but I received NO letter. I had to call my man to pay over the phone... so embarrassing.

Paid off my account. Got another bill. They said it was for the interest. Then they said after I pay this interest off, I'll have to pay the interest on this interest next billing cycle!? Crazy loony toon land. They won't let you just pay them off. They won't prorate your interest, they just keep charging you. Total scam artists. Don't open an account with them unless you enjoy getting ripped off again and again.

It use to be when you made a payment the money would go to the oldest balance so things were paid off in time. Unfortunately they now started applying the payments to the newest charges so you have to pay interest on you charges. I have called and spoken to customer service and they assure me that the money will be allocated to the payment I want and it will be done in 12 to 24 hours and its never done. I have even called back to speak to a account manager that assures me that its done and its never done. I have been dealing with this since the first of December 2024. Before that I had my last charge applied wrong by my veterinarian, their Accounting Manager called to have it put on a 12 month payment plan like it was suppose to be set up on, he had to call back to speak to several people weekly the month of November 2024 and It was never corrected so I am paying interest on that purchase.

This card is meant to be used for medical, vision and dental purposes. You would think the interest rate would not creep up into the 30% plus range when it's used for essential services not covered by insurance we also pay to have. They also have sneaky fees and charge interest even when no balance is due. Will never use this company for lending services again.

Be wary of their "promotional offers". When you use a special financing offer - like 24 or 36 months no interest - you can't charge anything else on the card. If you do, your payments don't go toward the special financing offer, even though that was the earlier charge. Your payments get spread over the entire balance and if you aren't careful, you wind up with a hefty interest charge at the end of the special offer period. Due to this predatory business practice, we will be cancelling our Care Credit card as soon as possible. We've used these XX months same as cash offers with other companies and never had this problem.

I would not recommend this card to anyone. I was making payments on my account and my niece's account whose dog had extensive surgery. I made a dispute about two payments on my account (not insufficient funds) and they closed my account. I disputed the closure as my dog needed dental surgery and they would not reopen the account. I have paid off the account; didn't wait for the 180 days. Their response was "once the account is closed, we can't reopen it." No compassion or empathy given whatsoever.

Very poor customer service. Issues you call about are never resolved. I disputed the same charge 4 times because they would not complete the investigation properly. The representatives are incompetents and difficult to understand. They deliberately disconnect the calls because they don't want to help or hope will go away. Sychrony Bank offers terrible business services. Stay away as you will not receive good customer service and not worth the headaches when needing assistance.

Soon as I paid the card down. They lowered my limit without a notice. The interest fees are crazy and the reps say whatever to get a payment. You will be paying this card off forever to not get any usage from it, I wouldnt recommend this card to anyone for anything, unless it's your last result. If could have given this rating no stars I wouldve its the worst company ever to get a credit card from.

CARE CREDIT IS DIRTY!
October 7, 2024

After 5 years of a credit limit of $500 i paid my care credit limit total without closing the account. Which was a total of $380.93. Later that month after making that payment, they not only took my payment, but they DROPPED MY CREDIT LIMIT FROM $500 TO $250! How dare they do that to me after i just paid it in full! Now they can cancel my card. I am done and will never in life use them again. My family is furious how they did me and they are closing their accounts with them too. They will treat you like $#*! and take your money! All they have to say is "terms and conditions"! Get a better credit card. DO NOT GO WITH CARE CREDIT!

I have used care credit for a couple years now, never late on my payments. Never missed a payment. Had a credit for over $1000, they dropped my available credit down to $200 because my credit score has dropped. Who does this too their customers? It's disappointing, now I can't take my dog to the vet? I will never recommend this company to anyone ever again. This is how they treat loyal customers. Not very smart business practice in my opinion.

Available credit
September 6, 2024

I paid my bill on time every month. For no legit reason, they dropped my available credit from 500 dollars to 40 dollars. I used the card for my service dogs needs, and 40 dollars is useless. I will pay the card off and throw it in the trash. Will not do business with this company. Raise the interest rates too high, rude customer service and dont appreciate the loyalty of their customers.

Predatory Lending!
August 9, 2024

Aspen Dental tells you in a little room it's great. They submit my info and was approved $4000. They tried immediately to get me to buy $120 toothbrush and get teeth alignment system on my 1st visit. Aspen and care credit are in a dirty business relationship. Because as soon as I said no to both. Personality changed and after 4months of not maxing out my limit with care credit the cut me down over time to $500 credit limit. My credit hadn't changed. I just wasn't maxing it out like they wanted me to. I wanted to save my credit line for emergency dental procedures. That wasn't acceptable to Aspen or Care Credit. I'm paying the balance and closing the account it's criminal what they did to me.

If I could give it 0 stars I would. Stay away fromj these people. I reported them to FTC, Dept of Consumer Affairs & Better Business Bureau. Before I applied for their card, I phoned them and talked with Maey, Customer Service Rep. She assured me it wojuld be a "soft inquiry." It wasnt. She lied & I recorded the conversation (smart me). Within 5 minutes of applying, I was notified by all 3 credit agencies & 2 credit cards I hold that a "hard inquiry" was made on my credit. My credit score went down by 5 points because of the "hard inquiry." BEWARE of fraudulent, unethical people like these folks.

The company closed my account after I called and explained to them. That I misplace my care credit card. I called and spoke to one of their representatives and the woman assured me that they were replacing the card with another one with the same information and nothing changing. The next morning my wife had to go and see a dentist and my wife had to pay $300.00. I had the account information to use until my new card arrived. However, it was an embarrassment for my wife because the account rejected payments. My wife came home and I called Care Credit to only learn that they had closed my account after the fact, due to a review of my credit score dropping to 625 among a few other things.
I will never apply for a care card again. I am glad that I am free from this company and that I do not owe them anything. I would not recommend any person to sign up for a care credit card. They also charged high interest fees after their so-called promotion so, please be careful not to get caught up in their scheme. Guess what three days later I received the new card. I destroyed it.
