Available in more than 20 countries, Care.com is the world’s leading platform for finding and managing high-quality family care. Care.com is designed to meet the evolving needs of today’s families and caregivers, offering everything from household tax and payroll services and customized corporate benefits packages covering the care needs of working families, to innovating new ways for caregivers to be paid and obtain professional benefits.
The company generally receives positive feedback for its reliable service providers and the ease of finding suitable candidates for various needs, such as pet care and housekeeping. Customers appreciate the professionalism and attentiveness of the service providers, which enhances their overall satisfaction. However, there are notable concerns regarding service reliability, with several reports of no-shows and difficulties in communication with applicants. Additionally, issues with the website's functionality and billing practices have frustrated users. Overall, while the service shows potential, improvements in communication and reliability are essential for enhancing customer experience.

I used Care.com in 2011 and they continued to charge me after closing my account. I contacted customer services and was refunded appropriately. Used them again last fall and used a promotion code for an upgraded month. I found my provider elsewhere and downgraded my account to the free basic setting. Just discovered months of continued charges on my credit card. Not one notification from Care. Com. When I reached out to customer service, I was told that it is an automatic renewal service and it was my responsibility to downgrade (which I did). I am so disappointed in this service and the blind siding way of business.
Of note, I never write negative reviews about companies and/or services but I hope this will maybe prevent someone else from being taken advantage of by this company. If you have an account, check it now! And save any emails form them (if you get them!)
The website was promoting a fee for ONE MONTH, I absolutely never signed up for a monthly subscription. I signed with this company long time ago probably in 2016 and cancelled immediately after.
I visited once again the site In 2018 as I was looking for some help around the house. I was never told that I will be charged or that my account will be re-activated as premium.
Unfortunately I observed only recently that I am charged for almost 18 months. I tried to cancel my account and it was extremely difficult to do so I tried a couple of times and I got errors and messages to try later. I didn't receive any email to confirm that the account is cancelled. I tried to reach multiple times by phone - no answer
Don't bother to go here. I join the ranks of dissatisfied customers who was not refunded a credit for 4/1-6/30/20 even though I contacted them on 3/30/20. My mother is 94 and can't afford to pay me back for the THREE MONTHS of "membership" not used. Actually, I haven't used the site since January. Now with being laid off because of corona virus, they took the money out of my account and ran. They put a credit in there and took it away the next day. Heartless!
There are other sites you can use instead of this dishonest one. Some examples are: Sitter City, Urban Sitter, Home Instead, Rover, etc. Got to "SitesLike.com" and get alternatives. RIP OFF.
Paid the fee. No response from the care givers as they're profile are all out of date. Need to update your website if your going to charge people.
Whatever you do, if you've given your credit card... cancel your card or they will keep charging you. No support, horrible website guidance, just a rip off
As a caregiver who is always offered Excellent care and has stellar reviews, this site shows to cancel my membership! No explanation, just canceled! I can see now why they are number 10 in caregiver sites! They can't keep good people!
These guys are con artists. I was referred by a care giver and so I had some trust toward them. Worst experience ever! I subscribed and was contacted by caregivers, but when I went to "message" them, the "Send Message" button didn't work. Then tried to get some customer service, that was a joke. When I finally did find a phone number (to buy more services from them) that got me nowhere with service. Then I tried co cancel my subscription. Their on-line "help center" directed me to a "Cancel link" that didn't exist. I finally called and cancelled my credit card. My advise: DON'T GO NEAR THESE GUYS!
Don't waste your time or money with Care.com. Like many reviews, I was very dissatisfied with their service. I truly believe many of the accounts are fake to make customers believe there are multiple caregivers to choose from. We contacted multiple caregivers and only 2 responded, both of whom have already found jobs. We signed up for 1 month and didn't realize we were going to be automatically billed for subsequent months. It would have been the courteous thing to do for them to send a reminder or a receipt regarding the monthly charge. I saw similar complaints on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and Care.com always responded that it's in their policy to automatically charge the credit card. Come on, it really isn't that difficult to send an automatic reminder to the customer since all credit card companies do that when a payment is due. I personally believe they intentionally don't send a reminder/receipt because it would remind their customers to cancel their lame service.
I am a single mother with twin infants who desperatly needed the help of care.com. They cancelled my account and never refunded my money back. When I called customer service I was hung up on, lied to and denied speaking with any type of authority. They kept claiming they refunded my money but refused to send me an invoice on that return. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS WEBSITE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Accounts will take $58 a month if you do not cancel them
Customer service is bad and wont refund!
I've used this company for several years. The desktop website is better than the apps. The apps and the customer service are terrible! I've written and called Customer Service numerous times over the years for different issues and it's an exercise in futility. Unfortunately it is the most well known of all of the care matching websites and there is no choice but to use it.
Stay away from signing up because they will keep charging your without notification. When asked to refund they say oh you should have informed us sooner, it's too late to refund. I'm still going back and forth with these people for unnecessary charges. The service is useless and customer service is rubbish! They let just about anybody sign up for their website as babysitter or nanny! Stay away!
I had signed up with this website twice. First time, after I had stated Second time, was just earlier today (within the last hour). Navigating the website is frustrating. I just wanted a home cleaner. They had listed the definitions and differences between a housekeeper and home cleaner, yet they did not list any home cleaners. Nor, was there any ability to search for home cleaner. Their search is limited to only what THEY decide you need to search. I tried to search their phone number - of course - the mark of a good scam is to offer no phone number. They had none.
I signed up minutes before my second search for a home... oops, housekeeper, then (after posting my action on social media) received many notes of feedback from folks saying this site was a scam. I trust the folks who wrote me, cancelled my account with Care.com. They immediately wrote me to say my account would be cancelled a year from now - minutes after I signed up.
Was I negligent in ignoring initial concerns? Yes.
Am I responsible for Care.com's negligence in having phone number where we can contact them for immediate help? No.
Am I responsible for Care.com's ability to scam people and take advantage of folks?
YES I AM, because I fell for it.
After creating an account (the free version) I immediately posted that I was searching for a babysitter for a specified date and time. I received applications but realized I couldn't respond unless I paid their ridiculous price to upgrade. Against my better judgment I did upgrade. This is where I feel care.com doesn't care and are scammers. I started replying to the applicants, they'll tell me they can do it, we agree on an hourly rate and then they either tell you they can't do it or they don't show up! I had the services for 2 days and after receiving this issue with approximately 5-7 applicants I decided to call care.com to cancel and get a refund. Well they told me I can't receive a refund because I used the services by replying to applicants! Really! Yes, I did dispute this with my bank! Care.com has nothing but bs caregivers and babysitters that feel like they should make more than doctors.
A qualified math/science tutor was rejected due to a Jim Crow era charge. There is no vetting for sexually deviant etc. employees due to a lack of psych. Eval. You are better off sticking to individuals with local merit and positive reputation. Care.com promotes clients and employees to trust the untrustworthy and cast aside the trustworthy clients and employees.
This company are fraudulent liars who continue to take payments from your account after it is cancelled.
I applied to dozens of potential Carers with no response, I also applied for jobs myself and got no response. So many of these profiles are fake.
Don't take my word for it. Search online and see how many thousands are having the same problem!
Thank you for sharing your concerns and I am sorry to hear that you were not aware of the auto-renewal policy and that you did not have the experience with Care.com that you had hoped. If your still interested in using the site we would be happy to help. Please feel free to contact us at [email protected] with your account information. Additionally, the auto renew feature is indicated on our enrollment page when you first upgraded, and it's also featured in our Terms of Use. Unauthorized payment taken out of my account and customer service told me "Not our problem, take it up with your bank's fraud department if you want." STAY AWAY
I am so sorry to hear that you were unaware of the auto renewal policy with your premium account and for any inconvenience you experienced with customer service. The auto renew feature is indicated on our enrollment page when you first upgraded, and it's also featured in our Terms of Use, which you did agree to at the time of enrollment on Care.com. We want members to be aware of the recurring charges when signing up. I hope this information was helpful and again I am sorry to hear about your frustrations. Thank you for sharing your concerns and I am so sorry to hear that you were unaware of the auto renewal policy with your premium account. The auto renew feature is indicated on our enrollment page when you first upgraded, and it's also featured in our Terms of Use, which you did agree to at the time of enrollment on Care.com. We do want members to be aware of the recurring charges when they sign up. Additionally, given we cannot know for certain which stage of the search/hiring process each customer is in, we put the control in their hands to inform us when they have fulfilled their premium needs. I hope this information was helpful and again I am sorry to hear about your frustrations. We would be happy to review your account and discuss your billing concerns further, please contact us at [email protected] with your account information.
Only after giving them personal information did I realize that I could find no way to get a contact unless I paid them a substantial fee for their services, not the housecleaners. No obvious was to remove my information and get out of their computer. Not friendly.
Hi Bernard, I am so sorry to hear that you were not able to find a house-cleaner and for any issues you experienced managing your account. To create an account and post a job is free. As a free basic member you will receive applications so you can get a feel as to how many qualified house-cleaners are in your area before upgrading your account. We do require that one member be premium for communications beyond the job post and application. If you see a message to upgrade to contact this means that the member is also a free basic member. However, some caregivers do upgrade their accounts to premium and these caregivers you can reply to with a free basic membership. Please contact us for account assistance or to discuss your needs in more detail at [email protected].
I subscribed hoping to find someone to help out with my 2 grandchildren. I have incurred several issues: Frist, is that the persons I contact, for the most part, do not even respond. Just give me the courtesy of a quick response saying that doesn't work for me. I also see that they do not log in for weeks or months at a time... why are you even on this site? Why isn't there some sort of check and balance for those persons not even checking in for weeks or months on end? Then purge those people. In addition, their profiles are not up to date, so i spend my time sending e-mails to several persons that do not have current info. For ex: one lady answered back "I returned to school 2 years ago"... ugh! What a waste of my time. Take yourself off of care.com! For the most part i have found care.com pretty much useless.
Hi Leslie, I am so sorry to hear that you were not able to find the care that you needed. I apologize for any inconvenience you experienced trying to search the site for caregivers. We strongly recommend posting a job with details surrounding your family needs. When you post a job you are able to reach out to all caregivers in your area who are actively checking and applying to jobs in your area. I hope this helps and please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] for assistance with your Care.com needs.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars

I am so sorry to hear that you did not find the caregiver that you needed Danielle. We strongly recommend posting a job with specific job needs. Additionally, please know that Care.com is not a agency that employs caregivers or places families with care. We do have tools to assist you like reviews, work histories, articles, and background checks. We would be happy to assist you further with your search, please feel free to contact us at [email protected].
