Care.com has been charging me for nine years for a service i did not use. I thought I signed up for 1 month but instead i signed up for 1 month to continue recurring until the end of time! I am planning to file a lawsuit and contact the Better Business Bureau! I am furious!
I normally seek review data before continuing with anything or any company, but thought Care.com was a reputable company since I see their ads everywhere. I too decided to register once COVID struck. I was speaking with a few parents via Care.com, but all of a sudden my account was locked unless I agreed to pay $14.99. Now the thing is I would have probably paid $40 if they would have warned me. They could have easily sent an email or placed a pop-up on my account stating "Your account will be locked in 7 days, and you will no longer be able to speak to prospective parents if you do not purchase the care check." I would have easily paid, but it's the principle. The fact that they lock your account with no warning. It's just a slime-ball creepy thing to do. In the past I have registered with Sittercity.com, and when parents were interested in me they would pay for the clearances and checks. I will be working strictly with them from now on. I also believe if more people contact the Better Business Bureau in regard to Care.com maybe, just maybe, they would get their act together.
I have been both a consumer and a provider on this site. I've had the most reviews out of all of the providers because I've had years of positive experiences. Overnight, my account was deleted by someone without warrant, or due process. It's heartbreaking that anybody can falsify allegations & you pay the price. Mind you... from a home that was never even visited.
Joined to be a pet sitter, all of the jobs in my area(up to 25 miles) were old and/or already filled, and no matter what picture I uploaded for my profile photo they rejected it, even though it seemingly fit all the criteria. OH! And they supposedly did a background check that was never added to my profile.
I am posting this on every review site for care.com because they kept deleting my post on FB!
DO NOT USE CARE.COM!
My mom got cancelled from them, because a lady she was taking care of asked her to take her to the hospital to see her husband. My mom would have had to push this lady around in a wheelchair in the hospital. Because of COVID my mom said no. That's my moms right! The lady flipped (harassed my mom, threatened her, sent her nasty messages) and then reported her to care.com. With out even getting my moms side of the story they canceled her. That lady is psycho. If you see her on there, Gayle Neely, DO NOT OFFER HER HELP! She is crazy. My mom is a wonderful person and she did nothing wrong. They took the word of a crazy lady and didn't even ask for my moms side of the story! I know I am only one person, but I will be TELLING EVERYONE TO NOT USE YOU!
Joined this website about a year ago and out of the blue they deleted my profile and would not explain why. I have done nothing wrong on my end. People rely on this website for their lively hood and to be able to secure a job in a specific career field. This company is a scam they delete peoples profiles for no reason? How can they get away with this? How do we know they are not secretly discriminating against people? Has anyone thought of doing a class action lawsuit?
I signed up for the premium membership only to be able to message potential employers. I was not clearly made aware that the membership was recurring (a membership that is highly overpriced). I now have payed for 3 months of the membership after not finding a job. Do not use this website.
This site won't let me access my account anymore just 2 weeks after paying for a background check (it cleared just fine btw). Now they are saying I need to pay another 14.99 for their own internal integrity check, but they don't mention at all what this actually is or does.
Haha, it is insane that I will be locked out of my account on 7/23/2020 if I don't pay 14.99 to upgrade my account for "carecheck" and a required background check. I bet the background check will cost $50.00 on top of it. That used to be optional. What a great way to add revenue to your company but not help the people working for your company. You are locking them out of their account if they do not pay you more money.
Bull$#*!.
Bye!
I received information regarding my services. This person/Amy Achee who contacted me is a total scammer and easily recognized through the grammatical errors and storyline! Would not supply me with her "resume" and reference list. I have seen her name listed as a scammer on the Internet. So, I am adding to that conversation. Do not engage with this woman - she is a fake!
I signed up for one month and they billed me continually for 6 months. They did finally cancel and pay me back two months but I was still out $100 AND the cleaners are mostly a scam. They say they will work for $15 hour and when you call them and say you want them to come in for 3 hours, most of them said it's $90 ($30 hr) many don't reply,,, the whole site is sadly one big fraud. I'm still out the money
In the beginning opening of Care.com it me $35.00'a month to advertise for help with childcare facility. They increased their advertising charges to 75.00 a month. Without notifying me they discontinued my ad. When I realized what happened they told me in order to continue running my ad I'd need to pay 75.00 a month, which I did. However when I tried to cancel they wouldn't allow me to cancel and continued billing me 75.00. I had been advertising with them for about two years.
Would give 0 stars if I could. I was a member in early 2010 when it was better, even got one good position. Then signed up as an RN recently during COVID to try to get some part time work, and have had nothing but trouble. You can't look at anything on the website without CONSTANT pop -ups to upgrade. Applied for many jobs without any responses, which I found odd. They kept sending pop-ups which said "upgrade now to appear higher in searches". Today 7/9, they locked me out of my account unless I pay for a "background check"... which I DON'T need, because I have an extensive background check that another reputable company (HireRight) did for me in March. And I can't delete my profile because they locked me out. I am furious with this unscrupulous company, who misrepresents their 'service' and costs!
Chantrice was the caregiver for my mother in law up until she moved to memory care. Chantrice was beyond loving and caring. My wife and I looked to her for advice and hands on help with my mother in law and we are so grateful. Chantrice knows how to support a person with dementia as well support for a patient's family.
I have reported this company for fraud. They made it look like I was paying for one month but changed me for 18 months. I never used the service. WHen I called to cancel, they clearly do this all the time and will not refund any of my money. I found them on BBB and they have hundreds of poor ratings from customers. So unethical.
I have had no luck with any nannying jobs on this site, and after today I am officially done with using care.com. I feel as if I may not be safe and that a so called mom may have gotten a hold of my personal information due to this website. It is crazy that someone like this was even able to have an account created. However, I did receive an email later on in the day from care.com saying that the person I was receiving messages from did get their account deleted but the fact that it happened at all was terrifying. Here are the emails I had received from this so called Audrey Bisbeel today, I am glad I did not give out any personal information to this person
I have used service on and off for years. I always cancel after I find a caregiver. It seems that I've been charged for this for 8 times in the past 2 years. The only reason I know about the charges is because they notified me that they could no longer charge my card. The business practice is deceptive to say they least. A monthly billing statement to my email on file would have notified me of the problem. I think I missed it bc it was being charged every 3 months not monthly. This company should not be allowed to continue treating customers this way and should be required to refund accounts that are not in use especially since you don't communicate the status on a regular basis.
This company is unbelievably disorganized although their website looks professional.
There isn't notice for their business hour change on their website, so it looks like everything is alright. Once you got an issue, nobody answers the phone but your money is taken. Then you got an email telling you your account is locked for one of the several reasons, and you should go to their website to update your personal information. So you will ask them how can you sign in with a locked account? Then another email will let you know that your account is permanently canceled, period.
I was super busy last week, and I have to deal with this BS. It slowed down my schedule and made me feel stupid.
I should read all the one-star reviews before I use this website, I guess is my fault.
I am a college nursing student at a Maryland 4yr school with a lot of babysitting experience; CPR certified; took certified babysitting course at age 13 and had 2 great reviews. I had several more glowing positive reviews submitted but care.com did not approve them. Was never told why either. Caregiver hired me after a brief phone call & NO introduction to her kids. I thought this was weird but accepted because the caregiver said she was desperate. I worked for a day & a 1/2 (she came home early) and then she texted me and said she no longer needed me. I assume she made a false report because care.com quickly terminated my account. I was not able to see what she said or given any opportunity to state real facts. I will wait to see if she even pays me for the time I did work. I will also check my bank acct regularly to make sure they do not continue to charge the yearly fee. STAY AWAY! NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE!
When you cancel you will be charged every month anyways. Even if you signed up for 1 Month.
We tried to cancel again but now we are no longer members so we can't cancel again. Unbelievable.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
