Within less than 24 hours care.com canceled my account with no reason and now i'm out 14 dollars. I have a clean record, I'm 18, in college. The only thing that might have be a reason (which I would sue for) would be that I said I was transgender on my profile. I have sent and email demanding a refund and a reason. This is a scam the same thing happened to a ton of other people please please don't use this site.
Very disappointing! I chose to be billed for one month when I signed up and Care.com continued to charge me for the next 8 months until I realized it. And then they would refund me for ONLY 1 month! And though I did not even use the service during any of that time I feel like they are really taking advantage of people.
If I could give it 0 stars I would. Stay away from this company. They continue to charge you a monthly fee. Please file a complaint with your states attorney general. This is a scheme for a crap company to steal people's money.
They automatically bill your credit card but don't really provide services. I posted a job that got ridiculous applications from under qualified applicants thinking they deserved $35-$50 an hour. I scheduled an interview with one girl who was a no call no show for the interview. Care.com has been charging me $40 a month and I haven't even gotten so much as an interview for my posted job, let alone filled the position. This website seems like a scam and a waste of money. They took my money but as far as I can tell, provided no service. Scam!
I used care.com services once, two years ago. In order to book a babysitter, it was requested that I sign up for a "Premium" membership. Unbenownst to me, the small type of the premium membership is that, if the client doesn't go and downgrade their membership, they are charged 40$ each month, regardless of whether they use the service or not... on top of that Care.com does not ever send out billing reminders or payment receipts, specifically to try to keep as many "dormant" members on their books...
We should all gather together and sue them for the time they make us waste putting up useless profiles, imagine a dating service that let you see each other and know what city you were in, say NEW YORK, but that was it... might as well be a dating site full of "fake profiles" as you cannot contact each other without paying hidden fees,
NEVER EVER JOIN CARE.COM. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS BAD. YOU WORK FOR THEM AND YOU DON'T GET PAID. THEY CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNTS WITHOUT GIVING ANY REASON. THEY DON'T LISTEN TO YOUR SIDE OF THE STORY AND VERY ONE SIDEEDNESS. GO TO ANOTHER SITE FOR SENIOR CARE OR A NANNY JOB---NEVER BEEN DISGUISTED BEFORE IN MY LIFE---THIS IS CARE.COM ALBUQUERQUE, AND RIO RANCHO NM ITS A WASTE OF TIME LOOKING FOR A JOB AND I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND OTHERS TO PLACE ADS FOR CARE IN THIEIR FAMILIES
I thought that making an account would be a good idea to put my name out there for different families. This website took me forever to be able to put my info in. And then banned me 12 hours later with no explanation. Huge disappointment.
I tried care.com twice... 3 yrs apart and had the same results each time. I would post a job and get dozens of responses, but find a diamond among the rocks was next to impossible.
To be fair both times I posted jobs with unusual hours and variable days... I am a nurse. However this was always clearly stated in the job posting. Like I said lots of responses, but most wanted a lot more than I could afford to watch my son. Others would ask questions that were answered in the posting... if they read it.
Both times I met with multiple applicants and filled the position only to have them either flake on me at the last moment or change their availability and rates.
Also took issue with the fact that care.com would advertise having background and MV checks on applicants... but only give you access for additional fees for each applicant.
Save yourself the membership fee!
I have used care.com for almost 10 years off and on. Caregiver quality has been hit-or-miss, to say the least. My biggest problem with them though is the fact that they took $300 of my money, after I canceled an auto-renew subscription which didn't actually cancel due to a blip in their system. I called to tell them I canceled it over 6 months ago and I'm still being charged and they said there is nothing they will do about it. Find caregivers elsewhere if you want to work with a company you can trust.
I am a highly qualified tutor with many years of education/experience. After applying to more than 40 jobs, I have not received 1 response. Paying $20 per month, I find the service to be a joke. Do not waste your time. Unless you are willing to be paid around 10USD per hour to tutor, I would skip this site altogether and utilize tutors.com or the like. Care.com also requires a background check prior to even entering the site. That is just infuriating, especially when the results are nil.
I signed up for care.com but for a while didn't purchase the background check. I was not getting results so I finally did and immediately they deleted my account. There was a misdemeanor on my background check (non violent) from 6 years ago. They were not kind to me, and treated me as though I did double murder of elite and stole 17 cars. I do not suggest this site at all.
Be warned about this girl Katie (Katherine) Klein. She is one of the most selfish and evil people I've ever met in my life. And she is incredibly violent. The scary part is is that she's a nanny even though she hasn't had a nanny job in many years. If you're considering getting her as a nanny on care.com I strongly encourage you not to because she has a record of assaulting strangers in public, attacking me, attacking my friend and even attacking her mother. What's even scarier is that she's due to have a baby in two months.
After I downgraded my account they keep charging me. In order to stop the charges I had to be on the phone on hold for hours and they only refund the last month. They do NOT send any emails so you don't have proof that you actually selected to not pay anymore. So you have to delete the CC information from the account. I actually deleted the entire account and if anyone wants to file a lawsuit I am in, we would win for sure. A scam be aware!
I have been a sitter with care.com since 2016 with over 16 five-star reviews gained over the years. I have never had any reports filed against me as a sitter nor filed any complaints against anyone since joining care.com. I recently encountered one parent who we disagreed on the sitting event so I tried to reach out to care.com so they could be informed of our conflict and advise me going forward. The conflict had nothing to do with the care I provided but was surrounded around my son eating her food! (Popcorn, chips and soda). I even refunded the parents money even though at best it was a misunderstanding. I was still harshly insulted and harassed by the parent long after the sitting ended and money was refunded. My care.com profile was terminated by my care.com "family" after I filed my first harassment complaint (first complaint of any kind) against these parents. I'm not upset with the parent who probably filed a complaint as well but im upset with care.com because they decided to terminate my sitter profile without warning, without even speaking to me to substantiate any claims, and regardless of my profile showing "top sitter recommended in your area". All of my 16 reviews have been five-stars, which all substantiate my reputation as a good sitter over the years did not even matter to them. Care.com DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to protect me as a sitter!
Care.com is a terrible company they are liars and they are thieves. I paid $173 for a membership through iTunes and because I had the same name as my cousin they shut my account down and then refused to refund my money when I ask them to refund my money they said go to iTunes when I went to iTunes iTunes said I had to go to Care.com. They are thieves and I would never ever ever use them. Plus the people on Care.com lie about who they are and Care.com supports them and when you write a review and you tell people about the people on Care.com they shut you down. I'm really serious it sounds like it's a democrat run company
Full of people who cancel last minute and no call/ no show. Site forces you to pay a subscription just to post a job and read messages from applicants, and the overwhelming majority of applicants are garbage.
I signed up because I need to find a carer and it told me I had a message from a potential person but needed to pay to see the message. I did that yesterday and today had an email to say my account had been terminated with no reason, and my contacts through the site would be informed. Convenient that the day after paying for a subscription they decide to terminate the account. Now left with no carer and lost my money - I couldn't cancel the auto renewal and now certainly can't as I don't have an account to log in to to do so! No idea how much I'll be charged going forward, gutted to have fallen for this. So underhand and preying on the vulnerable.
Found a great nanny and interviewed several great candidates online. Process was easy. If you know what you want, you can find a great caregiver.
I would never recommend this website to anyone because of their terrible service and providers who ignored my messages. I requested a tutor a month ago and I am yet to find a tutor who will respond to my message. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed by this website and their services, and I've honestly wasted my money paying for a membership.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
