Care.com is designed to meet the evolving needs of today’s families and caregivers, offering everything from household tax and payroll services and customized corporate benefits packages covering the care needs of working families, to innovating new ways for caregivers to be paid and obtain professional benefits.
The company generally receives positive feedback for its reliable service providers and the ease of finding suitable candidates for various needs, such as pet care and housekeeping. Customers appreciate the professionalism and attentiveness of the service providers, which enhances their overall satisfaction. However, there are notable concerns regarding service reliability, with several reports of no-shows and difficulties in communication with applicants. Additionally, issues with the website's functionality and billing practices have frustrated users. Overall, while the service shows potential, improvements in communication and reliability are essential for enhancing customer experience.

This company is a huge scam. Check out all these reviews. And spare yourself. Many like me have had their accounts "upgraded " without their consent and then been quietly billed for months and months with no notice and zero consent. This company is a complete scam, they have settled a class action lawsuit for this exact behavior and now they continue to do it. They refuse to refund, and dig their heels in. Absolutely abhorrent and illegal billing practices. If there are any class action lawsuits out there please email me alayna. 1213 gmail.
I constantly have issues with my care.com account, and it is beyond annoying! I pay for these services + I feel like I get no where when I constantly call with the same issue weekly! I def. Should not have to go thru this! And I always do!
I signed up for a trial and ONE month only. They have charged my credit card for ONE YEAR.
I know what you may be thinking, my bad for not looking at my statement, and I agree, however I have help with it and she thought it was valid. We only noticed when wrapping up and reconciling the year.
So naturally I reached out, and the response I got was they make their purchase agreement clear, so basically - sorry not sorry.
And for the record, they don't make their agreement clear.
I haven't received one receipt nor email regarding this automatic withdraw every month. There was even a price increase and I never received notification about it.
I am fortunate this doesn't affect my family during this pandemic but thinking about the many it might, this is so unacceptable.
This is not a company of integrity whatsoever. Not to mention the people we interviewed were not the quality they promise.
I wouldn't recommend trying this for even a day.
I added to care.com to do background check and I had cases with them before that was wonderful but they kept pushing me to take a background check and I took a background check and they said something was on my background check when I worked for two companies now been with my company for over 9 years have a level 2 background and they canceled my account even when it showed nothing was wrong with my background check that I did not get found guilty and it's sad because I love what I do and a lot of other caregivers have told me they have got their account canceled for no reason
I can't believe all these comments I'm seeing on this website, wishing I would of dig deeper in reviews because I just got scammed by them too, all I did was try and add on Running Errands for jobs, so I guess it needs to go through an approval and they declined it, and whoever that person was who decline my application my account was gone, vanished! And Im already approved for petcare and housekeeping, how could they just delete my whole account? I just had to cancel my card and I had my first job finally this Friday, I can't call customer service, ONLY have BILLING dept for calls just a Heads up! You can only talk to them through chat, this site is truly a scam, they do background checks on us Requires social address how do we know what there really doing with our information? They sent me this message said I'm not active no more and to take care. I think a Lawsuit sounds Pleasant, I will be contacting my lawyer on that site!
Biggest waste of money ever. I signed up on the site itself and it stated I would receive a 20% discount for a year membership for signing up that day. The next day, I check my bank account and was charged the full amount. I sent them an email asking why I did not get the discount. They asked me to send them a screen shot of their own site before they would refund the 20%... first tip off that this is more about cash than care. I signd up two months ago and have searched through every housekeeper as well as posting an ad that is still running. Some of the responses are from people that live 25 - 30 miles away, some respond and then never get back with me and then some are just downright scary and you know they have no option but to clean. I have also sent requests to the businesses that do cleaning and that are registered on the Care.com website. Not ONE response from these "businesses"! This site was designed to look fairly professional but it does NOTHING to ensure the consumer finds any good, qualified help. It is the same as being asked to pay $150 to go into Target, grab a cart and wander around for a year asking everyone you see if they want a job. I posted on FB for referrals from my friends which was much more successful and did not cost anything.
You pay money and write a million families. And no one ever reads your messages it's like if you don't pay for absolutely everything they offer you can't even send a message out. Horrible way to try and get a job
I was under the impression that I downgraded from "Premium" to "free." I get a charge on my card for Premium membership and immediately e-mail the site. They said that they have downgraded me, but I will keep my Premium status until the end of the billing period. They will not refund me even though I have not used the Premium account to message anyone, or apply for jobs. On top of that, they make it hard to actually get a hold of anyone. Most of the messages are automated messages and not a real person.
When I signed up for 1 month I did not expect to be charged for more than 1 month. Once I realized, I attempted to cancel. The cancelation process is exhausting. Ultimately, not worth my time and money. Several of the caregivers did not respond and some were slow. For the month, I spoke with 2 caregivers and was charged $80. This is a total rip! The cisto.er service is beyond horrible.
Awful experience. Charge you to sign up, you provide all your information and get nothing in return. It's a joke. Did not get one useful lead through this website.
I had to cancel my credit card it was that bad. There is NO phone number, contact information to get a hold of them. PLEASE DO NOT give them your credit card. Do not support them. Why is this website still up?!
I applied for a Nanny position as I saw this agency on line. Sounded wonderful for me as I applied and paid a small fee for a background check... I was excited for possibilities to come. HOWEVER, 5-6 hours after I applied (and I applied at 4:40 pm) I got an email back saying they had dropped me from membership and would be contacting anyone that I may have touched base with on line to advise I was not a member any longer? They could not possibly have gotten any feedback in that amount of time and I was shocked because I have always done well in my work ethic and have never had any issues with fraud or theft or anything, The email from them said that they did not have to tell me why but I did not meet their standards? I have been in leadership roles, have a Masters degree in education, letters of appreciation from previous employers, previous Elder in my Church, worked in a day care with great and fun experiences. I am shocked and have no idea what horrible info they supposedly received in 4 hours after most businesses close for the evening. I would not recommend anyone apply or use this company unless you want a deflated sense of self.
I originally created an account to try to find a nanny since I'm new in the city. I created the account and enrolled in the premium service so I could chat with the nannies. I end up closing the job since my wife lost her job and we did not need a nanny anymore. I got hit with the auto monthly renewal (which is the most expensive). I promptly contacted customer support where they asked me for my info and at the end they replied with the websites policy of no refunds. Keep clear of this racket, some of the nannies never responded to a request for interview which make me think they are bots to keep you in the service.
Do not waste your money, its a scam. They will get your money but 0 service and quality will be provided.
Sent caretakers that stole money from my 97 year mother.
Rene also used my mother's credit card numerous times.
They have zero screening on their clients.
Customer service SUCKS!
Hired a crybaby named Melissa. 2 times she called out at the last minute. And then she complained to Care.com because I a barked at her after the second time. Care dropped me, a subscriber, instead of her. She is head case. Melissa went to 6 different High Schools because she is 'offended' by everyone. Moreover, one of the High Schools she complained about has the nicest kids on the planet. The staffs' nickname for their town is "Mayberry".
I joined care.com about a month ago,
Since then i, I, lost job opportunities because everytime I tried to put in my password, it rejected it and I applied for new password, I get in occasional y and I couldn't go any further in the app
Ive tried emailing and going on separate apps to message them, but never any reply
Today I spent 23mis getting through only to be told my issue is NOT a billing issue
So my option to avoid another 23mins or more getting through to the right department was to cancel my membership
This was my customer service I received instead of putting me through the right department and resolving the problem
Note... even though I requested to be canceled as a member,
I just received a email saying that they down graded my membership
NOT CANCELLED 6TH
You cannot message providers at ALL without a paid account, and the wording on the entire website is EXTREMELY misleading. It implies the existence of some limited messaging with wording like "unlock unlimited messaging with premium," and you don't find out that they actually mean there's NO messaging available until someone messages you and you can't reply to them. The cheapest possible payment to just reply to a message is $40 for ONE MONTH. (Or $60+ or $100+ for 3-month or 1-year long memberships. "A good deal" MY BUTT.) You cannot put alternate methods of communication in your job description - they will mark is as "inactive" if you try. And, to top it all off, the comment box to deactivate your account only allows for 200 characters. It has been a LONG time since I've seen such a scummy, money-grabbing scheme like this one. If I can't tell them directly how s**tty I think this is? Fine. I'll leave reviews on every site I can find. I would give this 0 stars if I could. DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE. Using it only encourages this kind of immoral behavior. Do your research and find the providers you're looking for elsewhere, even if you can afford the membership.
I legally changed my name. Over 15 years ago. Cannot use site with "new" name, was told to use "legal" name. New name is legal. Wtf?! So they deleted all my positive reviews and wanted me to re-sign up. No.
Guys,
We have email confirmation from the company confirming our account is canceled. Subject of email to us is "Your care.com account has been closed".
What they did, again, was wait a year and charge $160 some odd fees.
Class-action potential there.
Care.com makes it very difficult to cancel a subscription, and even harder to speak with someone about billing/charges. They charged us for months without sending emails to notify us of upcoming charges or even to acknowledge receipt of payment -- clearly in hopes of charging us monthly for nothing while we didn't realize it. Now they refuse to refund any portion but the last charge, even though they can see we haven't even logged-in for 10 months!
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
