No one should sign up with this service. Extremely hard to cancel. Poor business practices. Disgusting.
I have found this company to be on the edge of a scam. Trying to reach someone is difficult, and they will not pass you along to any supervisors. They say that is not their policy. The agent's constant refrain is that is not our policy.
I would not recommend using this agency as it is difficult to cancel.
Source local options. This company is sneaky/unethical and will charge you without receipt or notification of charge.
Company makes ONGOING CHARGES even after you do not use their app any more and think your subscription has ended.
Their is also no costumer service.
Use local resources and rover was a much better company for finding animal sitters.
Although I am grateful for the job I was able to find on Care.com, there were more issues with the website and app, which made the job-finding experience extremely frustrating. It would not update my profile when I attempted to update it, my app would not let me log in, I couldn't send messages, I was not allowed to review job's I had applied to (which would have been helpful to review for my job interviews), and all around, the technology was faulty and not reliable. I give it 2 stars because I was able to eventually find a job, but overall, the experience was frustrating.
I contacted care.com on the day that they "renewed" my quarterly subscription that I had not used and had no intention to use. As I was contacting them on the day of the beginning of the quarter I requested a refund for the entire qtr. I was refused a refund, despite not having used the service, and contacting them at the beginning of the term. The unethical practice of that Care.com employs in charging people's accounts with no recourse is ridiculous, especially when their service is a joke.
I am not sure what the screening process is for care.com and the alleged "Caregivers" they allow on their site to register but apparently they allow anyone that claims to be a caregiver sign up. What a joke. The first sentence in a prospective caregivers detail is "Very reliable" or "Very dependable" "Responds quickly" or some other line of bull$#*!. Not only has no one responded to our requests for an interview, or of they did, they no-called, no-showed for a seconf round, but these people that are being hired or allowed to post their services simply do not respond at all. THAT IS NOT RELIABLE, RESPONSIBLE, OR RESPONSIVE. What a sack of potatoes! I get this for a paid membership? Do I look like an idiot? Screw you Care.com and the rip-off horse you rode in on. If I wanted to hire unresponsible losers, I'd hire some current felon serving time for elderly abuse!
If I could give zero stars I would. After rounding amazing families to care for through this site. After amazing reviews and an awesomely built profile, my account was closer with no legitimate reason why. I have also read this has happened before to other caregivers. Save your time and find a better way to find caregiving jobs.
The company told me I was not entitled to a full refund. I have not used the care.com service all of 2020, and now the company billed my credit card without notifying me beforehand on 12/29/2020. We are in a middle of a pandemic, and based on the business practices of care.com, I should use the service and have strangers in my home to get infected with COVID-19. It is clear to me they only care about money and not the health of the USA's citizens. I should receive a full refund for 2020 and the recently billed charge to my credit card on 12/29/2020 for $130.65. Care.com is not good business stewards, and as a result, I will never use their service.
They represent that a caregiver is available. You then try to book said caregiver, but in order to do so, you have to pay up front $39 for a membership. You then pay and proceed to book the caregiver, but you then learn that she is actually unavailable. So then you try to cancel your membership only to learn that no refunds are issued for the $39. No amount of arguing with their customer service reps did the trick. Bait and switch scam.
Not only have I been overcharged after signing up for a monthly account then going round and round to get a one month refund which they refuse. But they also had provided me with one sitter that did not get my child out of bed or feed her as of 1 in the afternoon. ( I was watching on video). And another sitter who stole my dogs tramadol and was high when I came home. This is the worst company I have ever associated with and I am embarrassed I did. Please please do not use this company they are repulsive. Negative stars.
I registered as a caregiver on care.com, paid the $15 to run my background check. It's been almost 4 weeks and I still have not received my background check results, so my account is not active and will not show up on any applications I submit. I tried calling and they said they were unable to help me. This site is a scam, I recommend making your own flyers.
They have a Philippine call center that doesn't speak English they read phonetically off a script! They didn't cancel when you call and they JEEP CHARGING YOUR CREDIT CARD!
You get your credit card hijacked too? Contact government website.gov file. Complaint!
They need to be shut down!
Unscrupulous business practices!
Philippine SCAMMERS!
DO NOT JOIN - I would rate 0 stars if I could.
This is a horrible website. I'm beyond upset. My account just got terminated after three years because I added a housekeeping profile. You have to pay a monthly subscription to apply to jobs, read responses, read your own messages, and so much more. Not only that but it is IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND WORK.
The people I've worked for always have a stick up their you know whats. I met a mom who was so crazy she didn't let her daughter spin around, go out of her sight, jump, stand by any kind of stair(a single step), sit on the floor, or anything else. All this woman did was clean and micromanage her daughter. I went in for a trial day and I am very confident in my skills as a nanny, I'd say I'm one of the best out there. She didn't hire me because I owned a cat and I quote "cats make people sick".
I've also had a job where I was babysitting two boys for an older man. He wanted a young, nieve, nanny to come into his life so he could find a new sugar baby that took care of his kids for him. I felt like I was in danger ALL THE TIME when he was around. He even had me go to fancy dinners with him and the kids, even though my full attention was on the kids.
There was another job too, and this woman paid me $24 dollars a day. NO ONE WANTS TO PAY ON THIS SIGHT, EVERYONE IS CHEAP AND THE INTERVIEW PROCESS IS SUPER OVER THE TOP.
They just keep charging you. I had a 6-month subscription, and they don't give you any warning that your charge is coming up. When you email to ask about this, they tell you they can't give you a refund because they clearly let you know when you were subscribing that you would be charged. Well, yeah, but that was 1.5 years ago? I literally emailed them the day they charged my card and they couldn't refund me because they had let me know 1.5 years ago when I signed up that it was a subscription. Ridiculous.
Just don't give them your credit card info. Before I was charged, I had tried to cancel my premium subscription, but it wouldn't let me on the website. I assumed it was just an error on their website. My credit card that they had was expired, so I thought that would be fine since they woudln't be able to charge my expired credit card. Well, apparently they can. So I was charged again. Okay, I thought, my bad, I didn't know that was possible. Then I tried to cancel my credit card so I wouldn't be charged again, and the website still wouldn't let me. I emailed them to cancel, but I was still charged. They refused to refund.
I was finally able to cancel my premium subscription on the website, but I don't know if I'll be charged again. I've been talking to customer service via email and twitter, and things just keep getting more confusing. The website doesn't let me delete my credit card info, and customer service directed me to tech support who has not yet gotten back to me about this (it's been two weeks). And somehow in this journey to delete my credit card from their website, it now says that I'm going to be charged again in six months. I asked customer service about this, and they told me yes it does say that, but it's incorrect. Right... Am I really supposed to trust a company that has hundreds if not thousands of complaints all over the BBB and social media? I have no idea if they're going to try to charge me again. I think the only way is to cancel my credit card. This company is seriously the WORST.
The site was useful and helpful until without notice my account was terminated and an email stating that users can removed from the site at the sites discretion. Upon attempting to find out a reason from customer service on the phone I received the response that representatives are not allowed to give a reason for termination of a customers account. I was told to look at the faqs. I had already looked through the faqs and could find no reasonable explanation. It seems it would be helpful to offer customers a way to rectify any violations or explain their side to clear any misunderstandings. Very disappointing.
Not worth the money and horrible customer service. I will never recommend or use this company again. There are many other options available. They only care about profit- not actually doing good business.
NO MATTER HOW DESPERATE YOU ARE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! YOU'D BE BETTER OFF HIRING SATAN HIMSELF THEN USE THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY! If you pay or even use a trial and then cancel for any reason, they will charge you and then fight you tooth and nail, lying just to steal anything they can get from this piece of st horrible company. They are from the pit of hell! Fk these horrible, horrible people. They don't care about your parents, only how much they can steal from you as fast as they can.
THEY WILL STEAL FRO YOUR PARENTS BANK ACCOUNT!
I am usually good about spotting autorenewals, but Care.com got me! It really does seem as though you are signing up for one month when you join. I believe this is by design. They probably have the autorenewal terms buried somewhere in the EULA, but they are NOT straightforward or "clear" as the customer service rep stated to me on the chat session. All "Jessica" probably does all day is copypasta this response to another upset customer. They are certainly raking in money during this pandemic with this method, and that is unconscionable. I am waiting for another patronizing response from some poor customer service rep on this page. How are the terms "clear" when there are so many complaints of customers feeling tricked out there?
When I had looking for a baby sitter for my child, I singed up and paid around $40 to can send messages to some persons. NO One answer me. I do not use this website for this purpose never ever and do not recommend to any one.
They charged $115 to my bank when I have NEVER signed up for auto-renewal. They did not send an email before thr renewal either.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
