As someone stated perfectly in another reviewing, Care.com "is holding my account hostage" until I pay for the FREE service. I've gotten jobs on this site but I'm not paying this absurd price of $18.99. What a scam. I too sent an email and received no answer as to where this charge came from. I wish we could band together and run this awful company into the ground. Have some respect for hardworking people, especially in a pandemic Care.com! BOOOO!
I've used the care.com app twice. First in 2019 and interviewed a handful and have hired a wonderful and attentive nanny. There was no issue in shutting off payment after the posting. It was listed in Apple subscriptions section and turned off. Take 2 in November 2020 I registered again to post a role, we ultimately removed it in November and I later checked my Apple subscriptions section again to make sure it wasn't there... well from December 2020 to Today July 2021 they have been deducting $43 every month claiming I signed up for a premium account to chat with providers. Where I hadn't used the app since November, hadn't received a SINGLE email informing of the monthly deduction (you know the way legitimate companies tell you monthly your going to be charged). I called billing... they refunded today's charge and said there's nothing to be done for all of the months they have withdrawn as they have a convenient "no refund" policy. To get me off the phone the billing associate said start a chat with care.com to see if anything further can be done. I asked directly which made her freeze... "your telling me customer care will have the ability to reverse charges, the actual billing department that you are in can not?" She stuttered for abit and said no they can't. My bank has a stop payment with them and I will continue to pursue a claim. It is amazing for me to make a job posting, deactivate it promptly after and a phone application claim for 6 months $43 a month ($258 total) is a perfectly reasonable amount of money to deduct from someone's account while providing NO SERVICE, ZERO legitimate billing and ZERO recourse.
The customer service is terrible and I requested for only one month subscription and they charged me for the second month and they said the subscription charges are non-refundable!
I'd give it a negative rating if I could. After months of looking for a housekeeper I found no one dependable or that wanted to work. Waste of time & money. Don't bother!
The people you work for get mad at you for any reason then care.com kicks you off there site for no reason... a lot if care giver loose jobs became these employers make them mad... care.com should investgate a little better. Maybe turn care.com into the better business.
Upon replying, I was prompted to pay for membership, which I did. Upon upgrading, it NEVER went foward, it remained on the page, I tried refreshing, still nothing, but every time I clicked on Upgrade, I kept getting notification that I was getting charged. What the hell is this?
I was visiting my elderly mother in another state who had just gone into the hospital when I decided that I needed to hire someone to regularly clean for her when she came home. I found Care.com online and the site seemed full of resources. I signed-up for the free membership when several windows popped up to pay for the Premium service. I should have seen that as a red flag but I was in a vulnerable state wanting to find someone to clean for my Mother in the short time that I had to be in her home state. I signed up for the Premium membership and immediately tried to post a job. Within minutes I received an email telling me that my job was not approved to be posted because I had broken one of the Care.com rules by trying to post on behalf of someone other than myself. In all the information on the overcrowded site I did not see that rule at all. The purpose of joining in the first place was to post on behalf of my sick elderly Mother who has no idea how to use a site like Care.com. I had set-up to pay as well as arrange for services myself so there is no reason for my Mother to attempt to go to the site. Within moments I sent a message to Care.com requesting a refund since I had mistakenly signed up for the sight a mere minutes ago. I did not get a response so I sent another message and 3 days later was told Care.com would not refund me... though I had not even used their service and asked to be refunded within minutes of signing-up. I have gotten several messages from Care.com ignoring the circumstances of my situation and offering to reinstate the membership that I cancelled. The only reason I signed-up in the first place was for my Mother. I have no use for Care.com for myself. Basically, my money was taken without any service rendered and no acknowledgement of my concerns. There is clearly NO care in Care.com. The site is a scam.
On April 22,2021 we paid $33.03 to access and connect to childcare providers. We had names and contact information for two providers that we connected with whom we were going to interview. Our service ended on May 21,2021 and care.com has hidden the contact information for these childcare providers from our view. We paid for a service, and now they are removing access to a service we were paid for preventing us from following up with the providers unless we make another payment to them. Care.com's actions equate to false advertisement and theft from both the person who paid (us) as well as the childcare provider offering service. Unethical. Immoral. Wrong.
Care.com isn't allowing me to log in, I guess I'm banned. I've been trying for days, seems I've been blocked. I didn't do anything wrong. Always Crystal clear background checks etc.
I previously used Care.com to connect with two families, one of which I lost due to Covid exclusively the other I am still employed with ~1.5yrs later.
Now that my kindergartener is going to school in-person, I decided to login to look for more work. Unfortunately, it appears my account was spontaneously closed last July?! None of the possible reasons apply to me, and I cannot seem to find any way to rectify the situation. Huh? Why would they do that? Not happy.
They continue charging my credit card. Send same boilerplate email each time. Obviously a fraudulent business.
Advertise all kinds of help, never tell you anything about monthly payments or anything until after you set up your profile and either try to send a message or if you receive one. Can't read it until you pay them. That's all well and good if you want people to pay for a service but y'all need to be upfront about it. Shame on you. People out here need help, not you trying to nickle and dime us all to death.
By the way, there are FREE websites you can find childcare on... So... Care.com go *$&@ yourself
They don't tell you upfront that there is a fee. You list a job, get people to write to you and so you reply a long message, click send and then they show you the options to pay. They bait you into using their service but then as soon as you try to reply, they make you a hostage.
Would be so much better if they were upfront about it so that we don't waste time in case we can't afford the 50$/month
I have emailed three times in the customer service template asking and finally
Begging for someone to help me get back in my account. I get emails telling me that I have messages, but I can't read them. The app won't open. It has been over two weeks with no response. I wanted to respond to jobs and start working right away. They have no phone number to call and terrible customer service.
Thought I wanted to use their service, filled out the online form. After inputting credit card information, I changed my mind and closed the tab. They captured my CC # and charged me anyway. I IMMEDIATELY contacted them via phone, email, chat within moments of a "confirmation email" regarding my enrollment. No answer on phone or chat, had to contact them via email ONLY and told them what had happened, that I changed my mind and they would not cancel the charge or account. VERY unprofessional and frustrating. Submitted complaint to BBB for their practices.
Care.com closed my account with no explanation. I contacted them by email with no response. And they charged me. No one answers any of my correspondences and they don't have a phone number that I know.
Also the caregiver I used from Care.com (Taylor B.) stole $300 from me in services agreed to but not provided.
I was previously a caregiver. Took a year off to start a family and signed back in to look for a caregiver. I pay the fee which was on my caregiver page, when I realized I needed to sign up on a completely different page for families, I couldn't sign up due to multiple accounts. As they were fixing the problem I found local help so I simply asked for a refund I was charged on the wrong account. They refused even though it was a mistake caught right away. I tried for over a month to explain the mistake to no avail.
DISHONEST WITH NO CUSTOMER SERIVCE! I'm an employer that explored using care.com to seek new employees. Beware if this is your intent! My thought was to use them for one month to try the service out. I gave the necessary info to them over the phone, with no knowledge that they were "upgrading" an account for me. They have been auto billing me 160+ a month for over a year! I had no idea since I do NO business with them, nor receive any statements letting me know that they are auto withdrawing from my account. I didn't even use them for the one month that I paid them for. Good luck speaking to a human being with this company either. They did NOTHING to compensate me.
I registered on care.com to seek employment as a nanny. Later, I received an email from care.com saying that a member (a mom I spoke to regarding working for her as a nanny) requested my background check - at no cost to me. Underneath was a link to approve the background check. I clicked the link and continued with the steps, until it was complete. Later, I found out I was charged $140.45.
I contacted care.com 3 times since. They refuse to refund my money. They claim that I ‘requested my own background check' and that's why I'm being charged.
All I did was I followed the link in the email where it stated the background check would be AT NO COST to me. When I've followed through with the steps, I got charged $140.45.
I later tried to resolve the issue through Better Business Bureau. The care.com person who responded to my BBB request even admitted that this is their website's malfunction – yet, I will not be refunded, because it's their policy for the background checks to be non-refundable. This website is a complete scam!
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
