Works just as good as the one that Optimum just started charging me for (same model). You just have to call Optimum prior to set up and they will ask for some number that is on both modems. Another plus, optimum's modem never came with a battery back-up. This one does, so my land lines should still work for a while if the power goes out.
I finally wiser up to saving myself a little money. For years I was just lazy and didn't want to go through the hassle to buy my own modem. Well, it was painless. Once I received the modem, I called the cable company tech team and they did all of the work. It took all of 5 minutes for them to recognize the new modem and I was up and running without a glitch. Save your hard earned money and buy your own modem!
The modem I purchased was not compatible with my verizon service and their response was unprofessional and condescending. I am trying to get my money back now and I am not hopeful but I will continue to post these reviews so that scam companies like this one do not take advantage of others.
I bought my own modem for myself and since it worked so well I got another for my father's place. He uses Optimum Online (awful but they have a monopoly in the area). When I connected the modem, I had to call his cable company so they can register the new mac address on the modem. Otherwise everything was quick and relatively painless... Returning the rental modem was a pain. Anyway, saving $10 monthly and $120 annually is a great feeling. The modem pays for itself.

Work perfectly right out of the box absolutely no issues at all. I suggest saving a configuration file from the modem you're currently renting if you do sell it it's simply upload it when you install this new one and it will work exactly the same literally took me no more than five minutes to set up.
Item arrived right on time... just what I needed! Verizon tech told me he 'may have trouble' using this product... but he did not! Worked perfectly! Highly recommend purchasing this over paying the $12/month that Verizon wants you to pay!

I purchased an ARRIS TG1682G to replace my same model Comcast rental. It appears

Install, thru the online setup, tech support, and online chat, Comcast had me convinced
I had one of their modems and that I had been ripped off. They said they couldn't help me install it because that model is only available thru rental from them. Finally I took it to the local Comcast store, along with my receipt. Within 5 minutes the tech in the store verified that it was NOT one of theirs, registered it to my account, and removed the billing for the rental. I took it home and with some help from a very polite Comcast tech support employee was able to be up and running within an hour.
Why would you not buy something that pays for itself in 6 months.
This modem is exactly the same and works perfectly. I was told tho make sure that the modem was "AC1750", which is a more recent version, or some TV functions may not work with Verizon.

They advertise modems at good price, after you order they send your the ones they have, not necessary the one you order, when you send e mail to tell them that you got the wrong one, they tell you it will work, and argue with you that you don not know, and they will teach you modems, I called credit card to get a credit, they challenge me that I will lose the claim and money, also in their web they try to force you to order the product they have, STAY AWAY FROM THEM IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF?
This modem is the exact same modem on the optimum website for half the price. It'll pay for itself in 5 months and it was so worth it. I wish I had purchased it sooner. You will have to call your cable company to register your and that takes 15 to 20 minutes. Don't delay purchase your modem!
I ordered the Arris DG1670A to replace my leased Spectrum modem (which was the exact same model). The modem arrived within a couple of days, hooked it up, called Spectrum tech support to activate it, and it has performed perfectly so far.
Quickly received the CORRECT modem for my OPtimum. I highly recommend this company to get rid of your monthly rental cost. The modem was only $55.00 and my rental was $10. Per month. Extremely simple to set up, you do need to call Optimum with the serial number. Optimum will email you a return label for free to mail rental back or you can drop it off at the nearest OPtimum store. Your credit starts when they receive the rental back. Wish I had done this years ago!

Very sorry to hear that the item you purchased is not compatible with your provider. We do state in our purchase terms that it is the buyers responsibility to check with their provider BEFORE PURCHASE so that we can prevent such problems as this as it isn't a fun experience for either party when dealing with returns that could have been avoided and I am sorry if this sounds condescending but unfortunately it is true in such cases. Also, we have installed THOUSANDS of units on the Verizon Fios network and would have been happy to assist you just the same if you would have reached out to us before purchase if you weren't sure what to get. However, you have already been given return authorization as we do still allow for returns in accordance with our return policy and so as soon as you are done leaving reviews and make an effort to send the item back then we would be more than happy to get the refund issued accordingly. We have been in business almost 8 years now and have strived to accomplish over 96% positive feedback on Amazon and Ebay as a power seller to go along with over 3000+ positive reviews on our websites so for everyone but the 4% who don't read before they buy I would say our customers have been quite happy with our service.
