What can I say, I bought this cable modem on special for about $27 dollars. It works exactly as described both wired and wirelessly on my Verizon FIOS. I save a ton of money in rental fees every month from now on. It is a no brainer.
Tried to get the modem activated by Comcast. Comcast told me unit appears to be stolen. Comcast's policy is to not activate a unit that appears to be stolen. It still belongs to one of their customers and is still active in their system.
When I contacted buyyourownmodem.com all I received is a couple of links of court cases basically telling me that Comcast legally is required to active it.
Well after 4 hours on the phone and going to one of their store locations they would not active the unit.
I tried contacting buyyourownmodem.com and asked to either send me one that will be activated or send me my money back. They sent me the return address. I shipped it back to them. Fortunately I requested a signature. 2 weeks after I know they received it I contacted them again. I was told they did not receive it and to ship it back to them. When I told them I have a sign signature along with a tracking number and date signed for they stopped answering their email.
I contacted my credit card company to get my money back. After a month more my credit card company told me that buyyourownmodem.com claims that they never received the unit back. I sent tracking number and signed for information to my credit card company and finally received my money back (less return shipping).
Buyer beware.
Realized I was paying $10 + monthly for modem. Got this compatible one and it was easy to switch over. Glad to return rented one despite 20 minute wait in line
When I received the modem I immediately called COMCAST. It took about 45 minutes, but the rep guided me to the end. Very easy to install.
Purchased a Verizon FIOS G-1100 modem/router for Verizon FIOS service. Modem started dropping connection on a daily basis after 6 months. They will exchange, but not refund. Tech support only thru e-mail, not phone. And Verizon will not support issues with the modem either. Don't buy your own modem and don't buy from them.
Very sorry to hear that you are having problems but I must say we are quite shocked at your accusations. Allow us to fulfill the context as you purchased a modem from us OVER 6 MONTHS AGO and stated that you are now having wifi trouble which could be a number of things besides the modem. Nonetheless, we back up our customers with a 1 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY and so you can't lose money from us as you paid $70 for this item which Verizon currently sells for $200 and 6 months later you come back to us and we say we have your back and will issue you a replacement and you smear us?! Had you purchased this on Amazon or Ebay or most any other vendor then good luck getting any help as their policy is 60-90 days standard but luckily you bought it from us and so we said we would be willing to issue you a replacement and somehow we end up with a 1 star. If you rented this unit from Verizon then it would cost you $10/month or $120/yr of which you only paid $70 from us with a 1 yr warranty and so we design our warranty so that our customers can't lose! So it is all relative as yes you if pay us $200 for one like you did from Verizon then sure we would be happy to make an exception and give you phone support, but otherwise you have to call your provider for activation so calling us doesn't do you much good naturally but we do provide helpful troubleshooting tips and links via email as this is much easier then reading the user guide or spelling out a link for you over the phone. We have over 99.6% on Amazon and Ebay as a TOP RATED SELLER and have over 3000 POSITIVE REVIEWS on our website so if providing a 1 year warranty for our customers so someone like you can send it back for a replacement if needed is wrong then we don't want to be right and we will just have to turn our cheek and take your cheap shot 1 star review.
Half the price CenturyLink wanted for the same modem and it's working fine thus far. Saved money and the delivery was fast.

Their responses to negative reviews are all lies! They steal your money and lie! I am taking them to court. Its complete bait and switch. Do NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM!
So we do have this whole transaction carefully documented and so we are sorry the customer is not happy and is trying to skew the facts of what happened as unfortunately this customer did not read what she ordered and had she had there would have been no problem at all. Customer ordered a modem + router package (which somehow she thought she only ordered a modem) that was listed to be in refurbished condition and backed with a 1 year extended warranty. We also provide a definition for our customers of what refurbished will mean and it does include some cosmetic flaws but of course the items were fully functional and listed at over 70% off new retail price. It is very costly when people don't read what they are ordering (including the title) until after the fact and so it is certainly not a "threat" but per our purchase terms that are presented to our customers before checkout and have to be accepted in order to complete the checkout process we do charge a restocking fee for any item(s) that come back in working condition and exactly as they were described. The units she returned had a few SMALL scratches as was listed and were fully functional and certainly weren't "disgusting" and so unfortunately she received exactly what she ordered but she didn't read what she ordered so that can cause problems. We have been in business almost 8 years now and have strived to accomplish over 96% positive feedback on Amazon and Ebay as a power seller to go along with over 3000+ positive reviews on our websites so for everyone but the 4% who don't read before they buy I would say our customers have been quite happy with our service. We are sorry it didn't work out and that you aren't happy with the restocking fee but our employees families won't seem to agree to pay for customers mistakes that could have been prevented by simply reading before buying.
I Googled Cox modems and this site came up. I ordered the exact modem that I currently rent from Cox Cable. When it arrived, it was used/refurbished. I saw where some modem were clearly marked as refurbished but no mention for this one. The packaging was substandard. I'm surprised it wasn't busted up when I opened the package. It was not until I tried to use it, that I got an error from Cox that only modems purchased or rented from them are authorized. When I tried to return, I was lectured that, "it is the customers responsibility to ensure the compatibility..." ok but there was no mention that Cox did not support their modems. So they allowed me to return at my expense for shipping (not a problem). When i inquired about my refund, again I was lectured, "returns can take up to 90 days. It is the customers responsibility to ensure..., but you we have refunded your money." I thought, "great thank you," but no they prorated my return from $119 to $89! What? Why? I paid return shipping for a used modem already! While they were lecturing, they failed to mention my return would be prorated. Take my advice, RUN! Pay full price at Best Buy, at least you can return it if it doesn't work. This company had the nerve put an flyer in the box that said if you aren't happy, please give us a chance to correct it before writing us a bad review. REALLY? What type of business are you running. I'm posting this everywhere I can. You should have just refunded my money.
Very sorry to hear that you ordered the wrong modem for Cox as per the items description page we didn't list this item to work for Cox and it was also listed to be in refurbished condition. Secondly, the Cox approved list stated that they won't accept phone modems from third party vendors and so instead of performing the proper research you went out and bought a modem that doesn't work for Cox per their own list and per our description page and then are leaving bad reviews because you were charged a restocking fee upon return which was listed in our purchase terms that had to be accepted in order to complete checkout. We have a 96% positive feedback rating on Ebay and Amazon as a power seller and have over 3000 positive reviews on our website and even a 4/5 star on this review site with the other -1 star coming from those who didn't do the proper research before purchase and then made threats after being charged a restocking fee accordingly.
This was very reasonable priced, came will packaged, and was easy to set up. I initially had difficulty with my connection being very slow, but they help us by responded quickly and with some good suggestions. It turned out to NOT be any problem with this modem. This was really good
Using this Frontier, hooked it up and went to surfing. I have 75 up and down, several sites agree that I'm doing better than that. I have a WiFi 5G router hooked up, I knew it didn't do 5G when I bought it. Happy with it. Recommended if you want to stop renting your router.

Warning... Please do not purchase a reburbished model from BuyYourOwnModem.com. They sell modems that are registered to other customers, which cannot be authorized or used by Optimum customers. Waste of $ and time. This company does not have a customer service telephone #. I tried to resolve my buyer issues with multiple e-mails with no resolution. Seller refused to refund return shipping for selling me inauthenticated modem.
We are sorry to hear that you had problems with your provider as we have installed TENS OF THOUSANDS OF UNITS on the Optimum network and after reviewing your order the item you received does not even have an Optimum part number on it for the one rep you worked with to make such claim and so it isn't possible or this to be "pre-registered" to them and unfortunately this is a game some reps will play at cable companies in order to try and get you to rent their modem while they collect a commission in the process for getting you to rent. Per our purchase terms we do state that the buyer is responsible for return shipping and offered to cover yours if you could just get a simple work order or document from Optimum validating such a claim but of course since the part number wasn't theirs they wouldn't dare put such in writing and so we never received anything from you or them so we could follow through with our offer. We would have strongly encouraged you to work with a supervisor to get the matter resolved for file an FCC complaint if needed or we would have been happy to call them for you if you had provided a number of contact but unfortunately we never received such. You have already been issued a full refund for the trouble that Optimum caused you and we became the victim by eating the shipping and labor costs on our end but unfortunately did require you to return the item to qualify for such refund as we are sorry you were not happy about that. When I looked at my cable bill and found out I was charged for my modem a rental fee I figure might as well purchase my own and within five months it would be already paid off so I went for the later and it was the best decision I made it works awesome and best of all I own it.
I recently got hooked up with Century Link internet service. I had bought a Technicolor C2100T modem based on the recommendation of a friend. The Century-link hook-up with the modem worked without problem. The delivery of the modem was fast and the modem arrived in good order. I was very pleased with the Buy Your Own Modem service and recommend them.
My modem arrived in good condition and on time. Easy to hook up, works great, much more affordable than monthly leasing. Recommended that my daughter buy her modem here.
This unit is identical to the one I had to lease from Optimum. Once registered with them, I was on the internet and using the modem just as before. I had a question & ownyourmodem support staff got right back to me. All good.

We take this accusation VERY SERIOUSLY and have investigated the matter and found that the part number that the customer received as was provided by him via a picture does not match that of the part number that his provider and so it is not possible for this item to have ever been stolen from them. Unfortunately providers have been caught by the FCC doing this and recently Comcast was issued a 2.5 million dollar fine for charging customers for their own equipment. We have asked the customer for a signed document from Comcast validating such a claim and a name and phone number for the customers provider so we could try and contact them but the customer has failed to provided any valid documentation from his provider for such a claim and is not publicly accusing us a committing a crime of which we have issued him a notice of the severity of this kind of libel when there is nothing to support such but hearsay. We have over 96% positive feedback on Ebay and Amazon as a Powerseller and over 3000+ positive reviews on our website and even have a higher star rating on the BBB then the BBB has themselves so I can assure you we take such matters very seriously but will protect ourselves when necessary from libel and other slanderous falsehoods backed by competitors fed to consumers in a conflict of interest.
