I had placed two costumes in my cart and something told me to check the reviews on this company before placing an order. I am so glad that the red flag popped in my head. The costume and delivery costs were too good to be true. Thank you all for honest reviews. That stress I don't need on top of three costume-less kids.
On Sept 11,2015, I purchased two costumes for the price of $142.56. Everything came as promised and I was completely satisfied. So satisfied, that I decided to put in another order for the same costumes. This time I wanted to order 10 of them on Sept 23rd.
The website was offering a special promotion for $5 flat rate shipping on all orders. Great! I put in my order and the shipping total kept coming out to $23.99. When I talked to a representative about it and told him my order, he ensured me that the shipping would come out to $5 at checkout. When I finally checked out, the total still came out to $23.99. I looked at the fine print and it said it had to be under a certain dollar amount. Fine, it stated it there, but the representative should have known that. Strike one.
The total came out to $626.17 after shipping and taxes for all 10 costumes. Money was taken out of my account, I got an email confirmation saying it would be there "guaranteed by Oct 26, and all was set. Except it wasn't. Today is Oct 27 and a package came in. Only one costume was delivered. I called and was on the line for 50 minutes before getting a representative. I asked what was going on with my order and wanted to know why I got one costume instead of 10 and was charged $91.96. He placed me on hold again while he tried to figure it out. When he returned, he asked me if I got the email on Oct 12 regarding the order change. I never checked my email from them because they were constantly sending me junk email about their specials. He then told me the email stated that the costumes would be limited to one per order. I asked him why was I notified that it was one per order THREE WEEKS after I ordered it and money was taken out of my account and after I got the confirmation email. He had no answer. I then asked if there were any orders fulfilled for the same costume after I ordered mine and he confirmed that there were. So they had the costumes I ordered, but decided not to honor my order and sent it to other people instead. I asked to talk to a manager and he put me on hold again to find one. It wasn't surprising when he returned, letting me know all the managers were busy. Of course they were busy, they're probably dealing with a million other complaints. He then had the audacity to offer me the outrageous shipping they charged for one costume and FIVE DOLLARS FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. Five dollars! For messing up my order, taking the full amount out of my account, and making me waste over an hour of my time on the phone. Thank you for everything buycostumes.com. I'll be sure to write a bad review everywhere I can and let everyone know not to ever order from you again.
They would like to you that your order will arrive within 6 to 10 days, but it would never arrive on time.
I called the next day to cancel the order, the customer service told me that order was canceled, but after two weeks I still have not get the refund. I call customer service again, and he told me this time the order was not canceled. And I will be expecting the package after November 1. Nov 1st? This is ridiculous! So even if I didn't cancel it I will never get it on time. And similar stuff happened to my friends too. So please, stay away from this company for your own good.
I ordered a costume & accessory and even though I was provided a single tracking number for the item I received the first shipment with a packaging slip for only the accessory and it was a totally different costume. I contacted customer service (by chat because it's the only way I could get a response) and they said I had to wait for a second package (that I was unaware of). I did so & it was the other packaging slip with yet another incorrect item. I contacted them again (through chat) and they re-shipped my original order. The first box comes and it's the exact same incorrect item. Had to basically argue with them through chat to get another replacement (that they first told me couldn't happen). We'll see if this new order will be correct (although it will have to be used as a costume for next year since I won't be receiving items in time for my events - even though I ordered over a month in advance!) The price isn't worth the hassle! That's if I even get my correct items! Oh & the chats I"m talking about - take about an hour each because their response time in conversation is unbelievably long. Like I said - ridiculous & just... don't waste your time.
Sad, but hilarious reading the reviews of this sham company! All the same crap they told me! Not sure how you would ever be able to work more than one day for their customer service!
I ordered a costume over 1 month prior to Halloween, and was given a delivery date of early October. Upon calling them after the delivery date had past, receiving another delivery date because of "issues with inventory", calling them again after the next delivery date had past "because of a mix-up due an overwhelming volume of orders", and yet again due to "problems with our distribution center" I was told 4 days prior Halloween that I would not receive my costume, "we don't want to disappoint you". I stuck it out with them because my son really wanted that particular costume and I (mistakenly) had faith that this business would deliver as they had repeatedly "promised". Find another costume website to order from. Their service is horrible!
Ordered a costume for guaranteed delivery 10/23. Received it yesterday, 10/27. WRONG COSTUME! I have tried three times to reach customer service, this last time on hold for 24+ minutes and never reached an agent!
They had no problem charging my credit card, but I can't reach them to get the correct costume they took my money for - do not use this online retailer.
The WORST online retailer I HAVE EVER used. Placed order Oct 12th and then nothing... No updates no notices of delay. I have spent over an hour on hold and never got an agent. I have online chatted 3 times with different promises of delivery by the 19th, 23rd, and 27th and have received nothing. Now they are telling me it's best to just cancel as their is a inventory issue at the warehouse. F'ing TERRIBLE COMPANY!
Ordered an accessory for Halloween 6 weeks in advance (Sept 15th to be exact). Get an email that it's out of stock, but will be at my door no later than Oct. 20th.
On Oct 20th, I get an email that it's guaranteed at my door by Oct. 23rd. Never got it. Sat on hold in hopes to reach a rep several times for 20 minutes plus, had to hang up because I'm at work. Sent several emails to their advertised customer service email, no response. Finally got a hold of someone today, Oct. 27th saying I need my item tomorrow for a school party. She who is from another country kept reading from a script saying it's too late for them to ship out. It's out of stock. They will just refund me. I sat on hold for another 30 minutes waiting for a supervisor. The lady never came back. I don't think she ever intended on getting back onto the phone. My poor kid has an incomplete costume because of their error. The item was in stock on their website just a few days ago, so they are lying when they say the item is still out of stock. They sold out several times and forgot about my order.
Placed order on Oct. 14, order still in process on Oct 27. Tried calling customer service twice and held more than 15 minutes each time and no answer, sent 2 emails, no answer, tried live chat, no answer. Received ad in email today for express ship and overnight ship reduced rates for new orders, but no response for order I placed and paid for guaranteed arrival of Oct 21. I don't know what is going on with this company. I have ordered from them company before without problems. Oct 2015 I can't even talk to anyone.
Ordered on 10/18 with a guaranteed delivery date of 10/26/15. Last night it dawned on me that I never received a tracking #, so I went to their website to check my order status and it said "Processing Order". Why is my order processing on 10/25 if my guaranteed delivery date is 10/26? I sent them an email since they were closed. Didn't get a reply quick enough so I called them the following afternoon. After being on hold for 30 minutes I was basically told that my items were either out of stock (even tho the website says in stock) or they couldn't find the items in the warehouse. Say what now? She then offers me a refund because she knows I wont get receive my items in time. Like really, they couldn't send an email to let me know there was problem with my order? I asked her this and she just apologizes... To top it off I just checked my order status on their site and it still says "Processing Order". Which means I have to waste another hour of my life on the phone with them 2moro. SMH
I ordered a simple green hat that was supposed to have a red feather attached to it. The hat came but the feather didn't. I tried to call customer service 3 times and had to wait over half an hour and still didn't get a response from a customer service agent. Worst company ever.
This company is a nightmare to deal with. I am not sure where customer support is from because all they know how to say is "Your order will arrive by the guaranteed day" even if the guaranteed day was a week ago and your order still shows it is being processed. And when you try to ask a question more complex than knowing the delivery day they hang up on you. Online chat is the same. I have never dealt with a worse company than this. Please do not buy from this company because I "guarantee" you will regret it.
Because I am about ready to drive up to this place and get my money back! I can not reach these people by phone or email. I placed my order on October 11 thinking that was plenty of time to receive my costume. It still has not been shipped! I have been on hold with this company off and on most of the day and getting more and more pi**ed by the minute. At this point, I just want my money back if I can just get in touch with them!
UPDATE: I finally reached customer service on Oct 26 after sitting on hold for 51 minutes. They told me that my package had shipped that morning. Yay! My account had not been updated to reflect that though. I asked exactly WHAT had been shipped and she said that she didn't have that info. I said what if I don't receive both costumes and she said to call back and let them know. Well, pkg arrived on Wed. Oct 28 and guess what?!? My husband's costume came but my costume was not in the box! Sooooo... Had to call back and sit on hold for 46 minutes this time to make sure that I got a credit as they didn't even let me know that I wasn't going to receive what I ordered! What a joke this company is. I planned my costume well in advance and they left me with two days to scramble for a costume. They should be out of business!
THIS PLACE IS A JOKE AND THESE PEOPLE SHOULDNT BE ABLE TO RUN A COMPANY! WORSE SERVICE IVE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM. YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR ORDER ON TIME!
These people have NO right to run a business! Never buy anything from them. They continually promised product that they didn't have and they never delivered the product when they said that they would.
I should have read these reviews before ordering my sons costume from this sham company! I ordered it in September. One of the items that went with the costume was on back order, and I was given a guaranteed ship date of 10/14. I checked the status constantly to see when it was going to ship out... it never did... so I called to find out what the problem was. The guy I talked to said that it went back on "back order" before they had a chance to send it to me, and that I wouldn't be receiving the costume until after Halloween. He then canceled my order, but for some reason, proceeded to charge my card again... I called back yet again... (which by the way takes at least 15-20 minutes each time). This time I talked to a lady who said that the order wasn't canceled, and was actually being shipped right away and I'd have it way before Halloween. Ok. Fine. THEN, the next day, I received an email saying that my order was still canceled and I'd have a refund in 2-5 days. It's been 2 weeks of constant phone calls... nothing. This is the worst company that I've ever done business (or attempted to do business) with. Horrible customer service! BEWARE! Read the reviews before you order or you'll regret it.
I placed an order in early October as my child had several events to attend. Delivery was guaranteed by Oct. 14. On Oct. 12, I contacted them to ensure it would arrive by 14th and they assured me it would. It did not. On Oct. 15, I cancelled my order. On Oct. 20, my order arrived but in size large not the medium I ordered. My order was never credited as was promised on Oct. 15 so I am working on that again and returning the merchandise which I no longer need as I re-ordered on Oct. 15 from a reputable vendor and received my shipment as promised the next day.
Ordered Oct 5th with "guaranteed" delivery by Oct. 13th. It supposedly shipped Oct. 15 and when I called to complain they had the nerve to stop shipment and have it returned! This has got to be the worst ever!
I wish I would have read these reviews before I ordered! The worst service ever! Guaranteed delivery my $#*!! My order was supposed to arrive 4 days ago, and I have yet to get a response to my emails or a confirmation of cancellation. There are too many other companies who actually do what they promise to even bother with this one. NEVER again!
Answer: I have never responded to any reviews, but I have to is time- this is not a legit company- it is a hoax- do not give them your money. Every word you have read is the truth.
