A word of caution - I had a brand new Samsung Note 9, sent back to them in original packaging - original box - and estimated purchase price of $177. Once they had my phone, I received an email stating there was a scratch on the back of the phone and they were offering me $45. I asked for my phone back, sent it in a foam pad without the box. This whole process was a collossal waste of time and misrepresentation starting with the original quote. Keepping the phone for use on WiFi. Just a waste and total junk company.

I reviewed your order details and can assure you we did not misrepresent the original offer. The details of your order stated you were selling a “Good” fully functional Samsung Note 9 free of any cracks. Upon testing the device we discovered the device had cracks and chips in the back glass. We were able to send over photos of this. Unfortunately we cannot accept a device with cracks or chips under the “Good” condition as listed in our quoting process on the “Choose Your Condition” page. We always verify and test every order we receive for accuracy before issuing payment. Additionally, our policy for all packaging materials and accessories including boxes is listed on our site for easy reference when prepping your order. Scam

Chose this company because their offer was slightly higher than the competition. Sent in a phone that was in near perfect condition. After the phone arrived they sent me photos of a phone with heavy deep scratches in the glass. Not my phone! They dropped my offer by $30 and said I could take the new offer or they could ship back my phone with these scratches... Total scam. It seems this company is outbidding competitors and then undercutting people when the phone arrives. Do not use this company. I have 3 other phones to switch out and will never use them again.

I assure you we are not a scam. I could not identify your order based on your review. Solely off of the contents of your review, it sounds like your order was placed under our "Mint" or "Good" condition. The "Mint" condition requires the device to be flawless with absolutely no wear on the device. The "Good" condition requires the device to have light use with no heavy or deep wear.

Again, based off of this review, it sounds like we tested the device as falling under our "Fair" condition, which is for devices that are fully functional but show heavy or deep wear on the device. We are more than happy to send photos of the device to show what we are seeing on the device and only photograph devices that belong to each order. We have no interest in operating unethically and oftentimes issue our customer's original offers as payment. Our entire process is listed under the "How it works" page on our site which talks about each step all the way through to payment.

I sold them a Verizon galaxy 5g Phone I sent them a original box with accessories when they changed the price I requested it be shipped back to me they sent me someone else's phone and it was a t mobile phone no original box or accessories I got someone else's phone I filed a complaint with the better business burea on this matter they scam you all the way around don't sell your phone to them

I know we spoke via email but I wanted to respond here.

It looks like your order was originally placed as a Brand New Samsung S21 Plus 5G Verizon device. The Brand New condition requires the device to be fully sealed from the outside of the box with the device unused. Upon testing the device, we discovered we actually received a Good Samsung S21 5G Verizon device. There are two differences in what the order stated and what we received, this is due to the device not being a Brand New sealed and unused device along with the device model being an S21 not an S21 Plus. Because of these differences, the offer was adjusted to fit the appropriate device details.

We did get your device sent back free of charge as you had requested. We did send the appropriate device back to you and your device is still a Verizon device. The device states T-Mobile in Settings and in the power up screen because we test devices with a T-Mobile SIM card to perform a test call. Your device is Verizon, Settings and the power up screen will always show the last SIM card that was inserted in the device. Once you put your Verizon SIM card in, it will update accordingly in your Settings and power up screen. Sorry for the confusion there. If you would like to confirm this, you can check your IMEI number (found in settings) of the device we sent back with your carrier you can do so.

As far as any accessories or boxes sent with the device, these items are responsibly recycled when unpacking the order. There is no way for us to ship these back to you as they have been responsibly recycled. This policy is listed on our site in the FAQ section.

Never received payment

I sent in my iPhone 12 Pro weeks ago. The staff immediately got in touch with and responded to my emails multiple times throughout the day so it thought it was a legitimate business. The second the said they sent my payment, Radio silence. I was told my check would be 3-5 days and It's been 3 weeks and I'm out $600 that I was promised and I can't even get my phone back. I have sent multiple emails and called and received no responses back.

I then searched our spam folder to see if your messages landed there, we had one of your emails land in spam. We marked your email as non-spam for future contact, so sorry for the one email that landed in spam. We followed up with you a total of 3 times to ensure you received the initial check we mailed to you in February. We did not hear back and checked to see that the check was cashed. Since the check was cashed this indicated to us that you received your payment okay.

I shopped the sites and chose BuyBackBoss based on the offer they quoted. I received an email many days later that the value was drastically reduced. I reshopped based on the condition they graded it and sent the link as they asked me to so they could match it.

I even contacted the other company to ensure I was giving an accurate description of my Iphone 7 - 128GB. Their issue was the battery life - 78%. The competition did not devalue the phone unless it was below 50%.

They responded after I did exactly as they asked and was denied based on their explanation of: "Unfortunately, their standards are different than ours, so since we do deduct for poor batteries (anything below 80% according to Apple standards) we are not able to match to their "Good" pricing."

Why have a guarantee of price matching if you are going to change your policy in mid transaction? I checked their site for the conditions of the price match and could not find any "qualifiers" concerning who they will match.

What a waste of time and aggravation.

I’m sorry to hear this feedback.

Your order was placed as a “Good” condition iPhone 7. The “Good” condition’s battery health requirement listed in our quoting process is an 80% battery health with no service indicators. Unfortunately, the device didn’t meet the battery health requirements, and we sent you the device’s testing results with our updated offer. You opted to have the device sent back and mentioned other higher offers from competitors.

We offered to price match as a courtesy during the order to help get you a higher payout as you had mentioned the other competitors.

I can assure you we offered the price match with the full intention of paying a higher price if the price match was comparing the same device condition requirements. Since their battery health requirement was not the same and therefore not comparing the same device condition requirements, we were unable to price match the offer.

They get your device and then offer you $10 when they first offered $111. Very dishonest company. They said after 10days I had a ghost image in my phone which I did not. And then came back to me with a $10 offer... please don't use this service. Walmart offered 50. Should have done went that route

Your device was received and tested by our operations team. During testing we discovered the device had ghost image and was locked to the Sprint network. Ghost image is an issue that happens gradually over time and the most common screens displayed are what get burned into the LCD.

Due to the ghost image, the device’s condition was updated to “Broken” using the condition guidelines listed on our site. We contacted you with the device report and adjusted offer. We also offered to send a photo of the ghost image present on the device, however you didn’t opt for one.

I'm disappointed. I requested my phone back. They claimed large scratches before sent in j had from and back replaced. I was offered much more online but I went with the original quote. Sorry but I can get almost double.

Giving one star but should be zero. Was quoted $638 trade in on my iPhone 12 Pro. When it was received the revised quote was half that as buybackboss claims extensive scratching that was barely visible in the pic they sent me. Definitely a bait and switch as they quote the most and revise the offer once they have your phone and assume you just want to finish the transaction. It's been 5 days since they low balled me and they still have not sent payment.

I have sold phones else where and recommend trying any other service to buy used electronics. They obviously take advantage of people and use sketchy practices to offer the most and pay the least.

I am up to speed on the order details! The device in the order you are reviewing is an iPhone 12 Pro. The device condition the order was described to be was the “Good” condition, meaning the device was fully functional and could have signs of use with no major cosmetic damage. When your device completed testing by our expert operations team, the device was found to be “Fair” condition. Our “Fair” condition is for fully functional devices that have signs of heavy use such as deep and excessive scratches, dents, or scuffs and screen scratches that are deep enough to be felt. Your device has signs of heavy use in the form of deep and excessive scratches on the front glass. The scratches were also deep enough to be felt during our testing process and were prominent enough throughout the screen to still be visible while the screen was on. We were able to send clear photos of this wear with the screen both off and on to you during the order process.

I’m sorry to hear your feedback, however we do not operate under a bait and switch mentality and did not force you to accept the tested device’s offer. Once your order was tested, we emailed you the testing results and asked how you would like to proceed with your order. You voiced your feedback in your response and we immediately offered to have your device sent back free of charge if you were not satisfied. You still elected to proceed with payment and provided feedback of another offer you received from AT&T. Because you provided new information of another offer, we wanted to be absolutely sure you didn’t want your item returned to pursue the AT&T offer and asked you to verify how you wanted to proceed once more so we could ensure the order closed at your choice. Once you confirmed, we sent payment to you the same day.

We find our customers usually describe their device’s perfectly and no re-quote is necessary! If an offer is ever lower or higher, it is always communicated to the customer for approval as we believe in fair prices for the devices we receive. The estimate provided to the customer during the online assessment is very high but you end up getting a lot less than the online estimate. I know that we are selling used phones but at least online assessment could show lower estimates.

Low ball but quick

Good if you are desperate for cash quickly, but like others have said they are unreasonable about how they classify the condition of your phone. Mine was brand new I had used it for a couple of weeks, it had never even left my apartment and had no marks still had the box and everything and they knocked down my original offer.

They also don't have a direct deposit option so you have to use paypal and get a hefty fee or wait several weeks for a snail mail check.

If I had a couple more weeks it would be worth it to just sell it myself on craigslist or OfferUp. Probably won't use again if I'm in a hurry. They did have a quick turnaround of less than a week from mailing to payout.

Swindlers!

BuyBackBoss tried to swindle me! I shipped my "mint" condition iPhone 8 to BuyBackBoss. They originally quoted me to buy it for $137. When they received it, they "inspected" it and said it had earphone damage and would offer me only $55. I refused and had it returned. I sent it to Apple's trade in partner Phobio. They inspected it and found it all good condition. They paid me $110. Don't use BuyBackBoss.

I've reviewed your order details. It seems the device in question is an iPhone 8 sent in under the "Mint" condition. We tested this device and found that the device's earspeaker was operating at a lower volume when at the highest setting compared to a standard factory Apple device. This tells us the earspeaker is damaged or partially blown out. We had our testing team and customer experience team both take a listen to the earspeaker and confirmed it was lower than the level it should be producing sound at while on the highest setting. Because of this the device fell under our "Damaged" category as listed on our site, instead of the "Mint" category. We communicated this to you via email and awaited your response on how you wanted to proceed with the order.

We were able to get this sent back to you free of charge at your request, which you are always able to do and we're more than happy to get that setup! We have no interest in "swindling" you and I'm sorry you felt that way. I'm happy to hear you were able to sell the device at the end of the day, and I'd keep in mind that each buyback company has different requirements and standards for each of their conditions. They will tell you they will give you one amount, then reduce it after they keep it for three weeks without paying you. When you tell them no send it back they scratch the screen and send it back to you! DO NOT Send them your phone

Do Not use Buyback Boss. They are a SCAM. They quote you a higher price for your cellphone and when they receive it, they downgrade the condition of the phone and lower the price. Buyback Boss figures once they have the phone you will agree to the lower price. They are very slow to communicate about their downgrade. I sent them an iphone - 2 years old, owned by a senior citizen. It had a screen protector and case cover purchased at the Apple store when first purchased. This phone was used very little. No download of videos, no playing music, just an occasional telephone call. Yes this iphone was an overkill for this senior citizen but he likes apple produces. The senior citizen was my brother, 84 years old. When Buyback Boss received the phone they stated it had normal wear and tear. BULL. It was like new. I could not see any signs of wear and tear on this iphone. Buyback responds with canned text. Buyback Boss is a SCAM. AVOID using them. There are more reputable companies to sell your phone. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. STAY AWAY FROM BUYBACK BOSS.

I can assure you that we are not a scam. We only reach out to a customer if the device is tested as being in a different condition than what the order originally stated on the order. Additionally, I can guarantee that the bait and switch mentality that you are suggesting is not how we operate. I reviewed your order details and it looks like the item of concern is with the iPhone X that was requoted from $300 to $280. The device was received in a used condition and best fit our "Good" condition category due to noticeable scratching on the edges of the device. As stated on our site when placing an order, any device with everyday signs of use would fall under our "Good" condition. We communicated this with you via email and were able to send 4 photos over of the wear we were experiencing. Once reviewed, you elected to proceed with payment.

I initially encountered what I felt to be a lack of customer service and support. BUT MAN, WAS I WRONG! After Emailing the company with my concerns, I was contacted by their support team who not only addressed my concerns in a very professional, non condescending manner, but they also reimbursed me for the entire amount of money I was originally quoted and expected!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AND IF YOU HAVE ISSUES, GIVE THEM A CHANCE, THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU!

They quoted $100 for my Verizon Samsung 8+, upon receipt claimed my phone was damaged offered me $20, when I requested my phone be returned they sent me a much worse condition Samsung 8+ that was a T Mobile phone, clearly not my Verizon phone. I felt the whole interaction was sketchy and definitely not worth the hassle.

The reason the device powered on with T-Mobile as the startup screen was due to our testing procedure. We test devices with a T-Mobile SIM card to perform a test call on cellular capabilities. Your device is Verizon, Settings will always show and boot up with the last SIM card that was inserted in the device. Once you put your Verizon SIM card in, it will update accordingly in your Settings.
