Boost Mobile Reviews Summary

Boost Mobile's reputation is significantly marred by consistent complaints regarding customer service and product reliability. Customers frequently express frustration over long wait times, inadequate support, and unresolved service issues, including poor coverage and delays in order fulfillment. While some positive feedback highlights helpful individual representatives, the overall sentiment indicates a lack of cohesive support and organization within the company. Additionally, concerns about misleading information and billing practices further detract from customer satisfaction. This combination of factors suggests a pressing need for Boost Mobile to enhance its customer service protocols and improve service reliability to retain its clientele.

I've spent hours and hours trying to get a sim card to join their "new expanded network." Been a customer for over 10 years. Had one customer service rep say the sim card was mailed. Waited for 3 weeks, then called in to ask about it. Oh sorry they say, sent to the wrong address. Then call back and spend another hour of my time doing this again with another rep who, after I double checked online. Entered my address wrong. Then called again and over an hour on hold... am told I can't order a sim card and to have someone I know on the mainland order me one and send it to me in Hawaii. I'm currently still on hold (an hour and a half later now) waiting for a supervisor! They must outsource their workers in another country, nobody knows what they are doing and they have majorly wasted my time. I'm ready to switch to Verizon based on this. Horrible Customer Service and this has been for YEARS and YEARS. Not just this horrendous review experience.

Do NOT buy a cell phone directly from Boost Mobile! Despite being a NON-contract service company, they have a HIDDEN contract on their cell phones. They don't tell you that any phone you buy from them is LOCKED until you pay them for 12 months of service on the SAME phone and SAME phone number. (So yeah, DON'T change your number either or the clock starts over). NOwhere during the phone buying process did I see anything about the phone being locked for 12 months. I paid over $500 outright for a Samsung phone in March, but since I telework and hardly use the phone I wanted to move to Mint Mobile for $15 month. Boost refused to unlock my phone even though I had been a customer for several YEARS already. The supervisor also tried to LIE and say that FCC made the 12 month rule, which is pure nonsense! They basically took one customer who thought highly of them and MIGHT have come back some day, and made that person an enemy and now I will let everyone know about what happened. This in and of itself is proof of poor customer service, when they could have unlocked my phone but instead decided to upset a customer. It's not like I got a huge deal on a cell phone. I bought from Boost because I thought it would be safer than Amazon, not because I saved a bunch of money and owed them for the savings.

Lies lies lies
November 28, 2021

The government made available a plan for people with financial difficulties to obtain internet access or & plan service through phone carriers. Boost Mobile seems to have used this to bring more customers to their website. Not only do they have links to their own website advertising this option, but if you try to look for other places to communicate about their non-compliance with that program those websites ultimately take you right back to Boost Mobile to sign up for their regular plans.
I initially followed their instructions to apply for this program which took me next to the government website. I then applied there & was accepted. I was told now to let Boost Mobile or some other carrier know that I had been accepted. Boost Mobile asked me for my e-code. I talked with the government rep who said no such code was necessary or existed. He said all that was necessary to tell Boost was that my application had been accepted & give my application number. When I returned to Boost Mobile to tell them this, they now said they had no record of my application. They said that I needed to apply for one & upload my information which I had done before.
In other words, even though the government said I was accepted into the program, Boost was not going to accept that government acceptance and enroll me in the program.
What seems to be going on here is the infamous & illegal 'bait & switch' game where a business will use one item to draw you to their business & then that initial option will not be available. Next they plan to sign you up (in this case) to their regular plan. You will never be able to get the government program coverage.

RUN, RUN FAR AWAY
November 20, 2021

I bought an iphone SE on contract with boost and began a plan December 29,2020. Last month, Nov. 2021, I tried to switch to AT&T due to poor service. I called boost and they said they were unable to unlock my phone for 12 months. It has been 11. They also said since I began to switch to AT&T, my account had been canceled and in order for my phone to be unlock I would have to start a new plan with them and it would take another 12 months to unlock the phone, again. When I only should have had to wait another month. They canceled my plan MID-MONTH while I still have two weeks left, then told me my phones locked unless i start a new plan and it will take a year to unlock again. What in the actual f***? I paid for one month with them, until my AT&T iphone 13 comes in. They won't get another dollar from me...

Worst Service Ever
November 20, 2021

I have had the opportunity of utilizing Boost Mobile services for over five years or so, today was really the icing on the cake. I have no services, bill paid and was informed by David from customer services that there was some fraudulent done with my phone and my service has been discontinued. WHEN I TELL YOU, I'M CLUELESS THAT'S WHAT I MEAN. Then the customer services guy David, acting as though he's so apologetic an act. SAVE IT. BOOST MOBILE HAS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL SERVICES, REPS NEED TRAINING ON HOW TO PROVIDE CUSTOMERS ACCURATE INFORMATION.

BOOST MOBILE IS A JOKE!
November 17, 2021

First, my phone was SUSPENDED without reason. Then I pay to have it RESTORED. No service. Then I buy a new phone, cancelled the order and still got charged for the phone that I cant seem to cancel or that I've not gotten either. I've tried to cancel over the last 3 days to get my refund no luck. I cant seem to get a live person to cancel this phone order no matter how many times I've called. Ive called about 6 different numbers and it feels like calling in circles. All the numbers lead nowhere. I've called over and over no luck for the last 3 days. I DON'T RECOMMEND BOOST MOBILE TO ANYONE!

My plan monthly due date is the 18th of every month. Received a text today 11/16/21 that my monthly payment is due tomorrow 11/17/2021. Spoke with a manager@ Boost and his explanation was it's because October has 31 days and my plan is for 30 days of service. I've been with Boost for over 10 years and NEVER had this issue before. Lately with Boost it's always some $#*! WITH THEM &THEIR SERVICES. I've gone days without services due to technical issues on their end! Didn't even get a bill adjustment. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND BOOST TO ANYONE! I'm looking for a NEW PHONE CARRIER!

The first thing that is annoying about boost is that many of the stores are not open during the hours stated, you can't call them to check reliably, and the central customer service line doesn't know. So if you need to go into a store you have to drive around until you find one that is actually open when it says it is. This can take a couple hours.

I recently bought a new phone used, and, after getting the sim and activation realized it needed repair. To get a functional sim for my old phone and activate it would cost $55 total on top of the $55 I just spent for the sim and activation on my new phone. Then, when I get the repaired new phone back, another $55, for a total of $165.

For someone who just needed their phone repaired, and got a loaner phone like I did, you're in for an additional $110 on sims and activation just because your phone needed to be sent out for repair.

I know it's just the sprint network (which boost still uses) that makes people activate a new sim for every phone, but it's an expensive "feature" and the charges seem extremely excessive.

Make sure you know and write down your account number somewhere secure at the beginning of your relationship with Boost. If you don't have an active sim in your phone you can't get your account number (It's not on the website in your account portal ANYWHERE). Telephone support says to go to a store, store says to call telephone support, another store says you have to go to the original store you purchased service at (which is never open) you get stuck in a loop. No-one wants to give you your account number.

I will miss the inexpensive boost hotspot. I will not miss the poor voice quality and not getting my voicemail messages until 24-48 hours later. Fingers crossed they eventually port my phone number to my new service because it's been 36 hours and Boost seems to be dragging their heels on that, too.

Overall I would say it's worth paying an extra $10-$15 (or more) for another pre-paid plan with the hot spot added on in order to avoid the frustration of dealing with Boost, and, if you need to temporarily switch phones- boost is sure gonna sock it to you with the fees for sim cards and activations!

Had Virgin Mobile with all three of my phones. Loved it! Wonderful service, purchasing phones were a breeze and for $45.00 per month was great. I always purchased my phones outright. The minute the switch was made I began to have problems with Boost Mobile. From my Blackberry to my Samsung Galaxy's everything operated efficiently. Boost Mobile was a completely different experience. Could not send images to family and friends; 15 minutes each time waiting wondering why they were not being sent. Start getting MMS messages that I couldn't view. Wifi service... OMG! I never had issues before with Virgin and the number of dropped calls are too numerous to count. In the past 24 hours, I went to Best Buy to purchase a new phone with a completely different service. I was on the phone to simply get my account number from Boost. That conversation took 90 minutes! That does not include the seven dropped calls, by the way. Yes, I too had issues understanding the rep. Finally, I received my account number. But was like pulling teeth to get it. What even bothered me more were the other customers waiting to be serviced at Best Buy because they had the same problem as I.

I switched to boost with my husband on a family plan could not get a refund because we still "used" our phone. We were unable to make call or texts and we contacted boost MULTIPLE times and NOONE was able to fix the issue. We payed our bill to renew our service but decided that enough was enough so we wanted to change our plans a few days after our PAYED service. No calls or texts and HORRIBLE cell service. Do not recommend in the slightest to get boost for a phone plan. How can you not get your money back? We had our phones on and even our wifi could not support the horrible service boost had to offer.

One star is too much. I give them ZERO. The data stopped working on my phone. Tried everything I could find on the web to troubleshoot and everything their customer service recommended. Except for one: dude had a nerve to try to SELL me more data, haha.
It's been a month now and they're saying they will send me a new SD card. Doubtful that it will work.
Called Samsung (I have a Samsung phone) and they said many people complained about the same problem. How come they don't have a solution yet then? Are they a phone company or scam service? Mostly the latter.
Other than the data, their messaging only works for words, don't even try to send an attachment.
Also, I never signed up for boost, they bought Virgin Mobile, a service I never had problems with. Searching for any class action lawsuit out there to join, as the company is plainly ripping people off.

I just wanted to cancel my order. Something like Amazon for example allows you to simply do so. I just placed the order so under 4 hours. There is no option. I call the customer service number where it is impossible to get an employee. Going through prompt after prompt none useful to my issue. So I cannot cancel my damn order. I want to use the promo for Celero 5G but no store has it and menu don't work online. So I ended up ordering a 4G phone by mistake who knows how long that will work. Which shouldn't even be advertised on their site if they want everyone to use 5G now. This whole forcing you to upgrade your phone is really cruel and horrible to do to poor people by boost. This whole thing is one of the worst and most stressful experiences in my life. I been sitting here slamming my pillow against the wall going insane.

PLEASE BOOST SIMPLY ADD AN OPTION TO CANCEL YOUR ORDER!

Boost mobile sucks $#*!
October 30, 2021

Don't even drive within a mile of boost mobile I'm 58 years old and love never even written a review. If the phone works it so so, if your phone it's self is defective forget it. They have by far the worst customer service that lve ever seen and I've had bad service from others but they are beyond bad. I'm pretty sure they do it by design lm not going to tell you.my experience only to say it was new out if the box, 3 days old, and they still would give me a new one cuz l tried 5 different phone numbers and the all said no they told me to call the manufacturer It only costs $300.00 it wasn't a 1000 dollar I phone I guess l could under stand that. If you buy a brand new $50.000 car even they will give you a 30 day warranty and give you a new one no questions asks. Don't go to any one connected with this company. T mobile or any one l hope the executives read these reviews cuz if they don't the won't be in business much longer. And it they are reading them they can all eat a bag of $#*!s. Have a nice day
