Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. Double charges
June 6, 2022

I booked a 3 night reservation with booking.com and paid for it. 1 week later, I received an email saying they were going to charge my card. I then sent them copies of both my payment confirmation and bank withdrawal. This was not good enough. They still wanted to charge me again. In order to avoid a 2nd charge, the bank advised me to make a withdrawal to my bank account. I did this so they couldn't charge me again. Then booking.com canceled my reservation with the hotel. I called the hotel and luckily they honored my reservation. They advised me to start going directly through the hotels for reservations. Never use booking.com. This will be my last time using them. I wish there were negative stars to give out.

Avoid
June 6, 2022

I've booked holiday for me and my family. When I booked the price was € 2714. Then they wanted €2950. Paid in full. Then the hotel sent me messages that they have some problems with booking.com and they are canceling my reservation. That was when I've already incurred extra cost like booking the flghts. When I contacted booking.com I've been told.not to worry that that will find the same standard accommodation for us. And if it's more expensive they will cover the extra cost. After 5 weeks and 4 phone calls they just sent email that they canceled the reservation and refund my money. Now few weeks to the planned date in peak season it's impossible to find accommodation for our big party Safe yourself disappointment and stress and avoid booking.com!

Filthy Crack Motel
June 5, 2022

I booked a hotel through Priceline/Booking.com. The pictures and reviews made it appear to be a nice resort style hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona. I was looking forward to my trip. When we arrived at the hotel there was a metal fence around it. When we checked-in we asked when the restaurant was open, the clerk said it was no longer open. We asked where the breakfast would be, we were told there was no breakfast. There was a juice machine and I dispensed some juice which came out looking like dirty water. When we walked up to our room the stair well was filthy. When we entered our room the carpet was covered in stains as if someone was murdered in the room. There was hair on the bed pillows and the bed caved in as my husband sat on it. He told me to pick up our bags before we got bed bugs and get out of the room. When we went down to the front desk to check out the clerk told us the hotel was due to be bulldozed later in the week. We had to book another hotel as this place was uninhabitable. We called Priceline immediately and they said it was booked through Booking.com. They said someone would get back to us within 48 hours. One week later no response. I called back and they transfered me to Booking.com I've been on hold for about one hour as they transfer me back and forth to another company. After repeating the same story for which they have reported taken notes, I was told they need to get the refund request approved from yet another party. Really? I guess they will call me back another day too. Filthy, disgusting, crack motel.

No rooms
June 4, 2022

I used booking.com to book a room in Virginia for a two night stay at a holiday inn express, received a confirmation number thought everything was good. For some reason i called holiday inn express to confirm room a few days later and they had no record of my reservation. I said to them ok just book another room. They did not have any rooms left since it was memorial day weekend. So then I called Booking.com to see what happened, they told me that it was holiday inn express problem not theirs and they would find me another hotel. What are you kidding me, could you imagine if I didn't call the hotel to confirm. Well i need a place to sleep so i made a reservation at another hotel on my own. No problem right, Wrong holiday inn express charged my credit card. So i called holiday inn express corporate number. I got bounced around in india with a few people, received a case number which turned out to be fake. I called back a few days later and was told holiday inn express was going to call me. NOPE! DONT USE BOOKING.COM DONT USE HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS

While their policy states you can cancel a flight within 24 hours, they do not honor this policy. I booked a flight and when I confirmed my purchase the site changed the flight details. I called and cancelled immediately. Although they go through the motions of issuing a refund, you will never see the refund. They will give you the run around promising a refund. They have refused to give any contact information for supervisors or managers. They are very unprofessional and unhelpful. You will lose money if you book through this site. Don't use this site.

I've been using booking.com for a few years. Each year has been getting worse and worse. They are unhelpful. When the booking the hotel room and it never arrives at hotel, it could take hours to check in or have to rebook another room and again no refunds even though it is bookings fault. In addition, when booking a room they inform you that you have a genius 3 etc. etc. Discount, then you arrive at the property and are given a room with no window in a dark back hallway, and as you paid less for the room you get a crappy room. So far, this idea that you are receiving a discount amounts to zero.

The only positive I can say it lets you keep all your reservations in one place. But as Google does this under travel... I can going forward stopping using this ridiculous company that is a waste of time. I find it incomprehensible that I would end up in a room with no window. This should be stated clearly on its website. Or do I really need to have an argument with the hotel when I discover that they have no elevator and they are on the 5th floor and I have to carry my own luggage.

Lastly, If by accident you book a room and 30 seconds later you try to cancel they will tell you that you have to call the property, that it isn't up to them. So the reality is you cannot make a mistake, and During covid I tried calling a property in Canada to see if issues with covid. Booking informed me that one 1 room available. I booked it and tried repeatedly to get information about entering Canada during covid. The hotel never picked up the phone and Booking could not advise me how to proceed but informed me no cancellation possible. Finally, after speaking to Canadian government and finding out I cannot enter. I could not get a refund. Booking has turned into a joke. They wonder why their stock!

Booked international flight tickets with them and though the airline advised to rebook the tickets at no additional cost due to bad weather conditions these guys were not ready to change the reservation. They say once you miss the flight we will be able to help you, we asked them if they can help proactively they were not willing to. Though the airlines website and booking.com website clearly showed the flight delay by almost 7 hours they said the software they use isn't updated and it didn't show the delay and they refused to help. Customer service is so pathetic they just don't know what they are doing. They said they can't edit the reservation without airlines approval and they won't call airlines to get approval, not sure how they like to help. If all they do is booking without any other assistance why even use their service to waste time. They won't even listen to what you are saying. Please stay away from.

Horrible company
June 1, 2022

I am an airbnb host and booking.com does nothing to assure you are getting valid payment info. People check in with bad cc's and you don't find out till checkout and they could care less that you weren't paid. I have removed all my listings from them. The guests that book through them are basically knights inn quality. Avoid like the plague.

Had a very disturbing experience whereby we were charged a few by one of their hotel's due to being unable to travel due to illness. I explained by travelling I was potentially putting other guests at risk. Booking.com offered no help. I would suggest always dealing with the hotel directly

AVOID
June 1, 2022

Sadly, I cannot give them minus stars. I booked to go on a holiday and got a confirmation email from booking.com and the amount was taken from my bank account. Thankfully, I called up the number on the confirmation a day before we were due to leave for our holiday and that went to some other company and then we were informed that the holiday we booked was double booked by air b&b and now we have no holiday. Their solution was they would give us a holiday and we would have to take it. Who goes on holidays chosen by other people. We ended up going to another company and booking another place at double the cost. Can you imagine the last min stress? Thanks to booking.com we had no holiday, and our money would come back into our bank account only after 12 days. Avoid this website if you want a good stress free holiday.

Horrific to Hosts!
June 1, 2022

The Booking.com extranet (back end listing management system) is a complete joke. It is seriously lacking, outdated, antiquated, slow, ridiculous, difficult to learn, completely user-unfriendly... and their customer service is not really able to help around it no matter how hard they try. Some even openly admit and confirm this fact. The system will allow you to produce MULTIPLE copies of the same property. I dare you to request removal of same - Alice's spiral down the tree would be an easier and definitely more productive obstacle course. Just a complete joke. Bureaucratic joke. It seems to have been designed with endless time wasting in mind. Stay away, you're better off with AirBnb, VRBO, heck, even your well-meaning cousins and friends! Not worth the effort or the trouble.

thescambooking.com
June 1, 2022

thescambooking.com I rented a room to Booking.com I've never used them before but I did it anyway I rented a room for 11 nights. My commitment in that town had ended ended and I moved on for days before my room price was over. The people at the hotel by the way they were very nice told me they would have to go through Booking.com to get my refund because that's how it worked. I'd like that's cool I understand. So the hotel says that Booking.com won't answer their emails. Booking.com says the hotel won't answer their emails and they actually said to me that they tried calling me and I asked him I have a voicemail why didn't she leave a message. So in this world with scams and broken promises Booking.com is obviously the next rip off site that will be gone in about a year. All I can say is buyer beware

Horrible horrible nightmare. The hotel will not speak with you about any changes or cancellations due to booking with this third party they are the ones that have to call. Bookings.com said I couldn't change my dates or get any refund back at all. When I called and spoke with management they said they were absolutely willing to change the dates. Bookings.com lied and just wants your money! Spend half a day on the phone with these people fighting.

Booking.com allowed a confirmed booking I had at Countryside Annexe in Pulborough UK to be cancelled because the owner saw they could get more money for the days I booked. After booking this, I canceled a backup reservation at another hotel because of my faith that this booking was absolutely confirmed, but when I tried to re-book the backup hotel after Booking.com allowed this cancellation the rates had doubled at the backup. Due to a huge event in the area there is now nothing left to book that isn't double or triple the amounts normally charged. This is the type behavior that should be punished by not allowing hotels and B&Bs that cancel for the wrong reason to list with Booking.com again, but that will not be reality as I've found out in the past. I will try hard not to use Booking.com again if I can help it.

GETTING SCAMMED BY BOOKING.COM
May 31, 2022

Last weekend I went to NYC with my pregnant wife. We used booking.com as it had worked perfectly before. We chose a hotel that looked like a regular one but once we got there it was a nightmare. Photos of a man on the wall saying "beware of this man, call 911 or front desk if you see him", HUMAN HAIR IN THE BED, marijuana smell everywhere, every floor, every room, wires open in the bathroom near the shower and the floor was as dirty as it gets, no locks on the door, etc etc etc. We contacted customer service and they told us to talk to the front desk to check out and get a refund. They told us that they will issue a refund so we left. Days later, after talking to customer service every day and getting an apology but no refund, booking.com is offering a refund of $26 dollars after having spent $450+ in that property. I can't understand how such a huge company as booking.com is unable to compensate customers that were scammed lilke this. We are appalled since we made such a huge effort to go on vacation and lost our money like this. It is really hard and unfair. DO NOT USE BOOKING.COM.

Beware of booking.com. This travel agency let me book for 24 guest, and 8 rooms. For the amount of 2136$. Upon receiving my confirmation via email. Booking.com only reserved 16 adults for the 8 rooms i selected due to the hotel is only allowing 2 person per room. Hotel would be able to accommodate the 3rd person for added extra cost per person. Now in order for me to enjoy my travel and all my guest i would have to add hundreds of dollars from what booking.com originally quoted me. The seemingly good price originally quoted to me has lead me to book thru them but only came out to be a false information and what seems to be a SCAM. Contacted customer support for 5 straight nights and not being able to resolve the issue. I have submitted screenshots of the quoted price and all 24 guest that i booked. But they never honored it. They came up with all the excuses they could give me. They dont take responsibility for their mistakes/ technical error.

Travelers beware! Booking.com does not provide good customer service or support to customers have been blatantly and fraudulently ripped off by one of their listed hotels. I booked what I believed was a hotel through booking.com, but it turned to be barely even a "bed and breakfast" that presents themselves on the internet as a high rise full service hotel with numerous amenities that simply do not exist. In actuality they turned out to be a substandard house in a dilapidating urban neighborhood. It is evident that they are just a scam designed to deceive the public and rip off unsuspecting travelers who are seeking last minute accommodations. Reading other reviews, I learned that mini travelers have been ripped off by this particular hotel/spare room In a dilapidated house. I did not risk crossing getting g out of my taxi and going inside the house, but after my $100 for a taxi ride I was in shock when discovering the deception and realizing I had been ripped off! So within minutes, and just a few hours since I booked the room, I tried contacting them to cancel the reservation but their voicemail was full, so I emailed them but to date they have never replied. Next I contacted Booking.com to get my money back but they refused to help. So I guess it's safe to say they are perfect pair …OF THIEVES!

Abhorent company I would avoid at all costs
May 30, 2022

This company cancelled a taxi for my wife from Tavira to Faro Airport in Portugal at 5:10am it was supposed to be there at 5:00am (ever tried to book a taxi at 5:00am when not pre booked, what a nightmare) - no reason given, no attempt to help her in any way, no contingency if she missed her flight to the UK and couldnt get home, simply washed their hands of it. Sent an email to CEO setting out how disgusted I was with the service - no response twenty four hours later - probably the worst example of bad service I have ever had to deal with - they were very late picking up on the outbound journey too

I would select a rating of zero if I could

No refund
May 29, 2022

We booked a hotel through booking that turned out to be disgusting. When we entered the hotel it was very outdated for the price, mold in the bathroom and all around the window and curtains. It looked as if the room was painted very quickly because the painters tape was still on the walls. The hotel was very understanding and told us we would receive a refund but we needed to let booking know. We have been in contact with them. Booking has told us twice that we would receive our refund within 7-15 days and the refund has not happened. We've been waiting for over 35 days. We really need this issue to be solved.
