Booking.com Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

DO NOT USE THEM
February 21, 2023

I booked online for a trip in April for my honeymoon. My husband and I found a room for a great price in Vegas! I booked the room paid in full. I called a couple days later to make sure my reservation was good to go before we left. The hotel didn't have my reservation, The money was taken out of my account but the reservation was never sent to the hotel. I called booking.com to find out what was going on, after being on hold for over 30 mins I was told that I needed to call the hotel to have them "accept" the reservation. I told booking.com that that wasn't my job to make sure they recieved my reservation. I paid my money through their site to secure my booking. The lady that was helping me then told me that they have no way to contact the property because they don't have a number. I offered to give them the phone number that i literally just used to contact the hotel.SHe then told me that they couldnt use that number because she wasn't sure if it was " legit". I asked to speak to a manager to see if there was something else that could be done, I was put on hold for about an hour and still have not talked to a superviser. I cancelled by booking through them and I will NEVER use them again. I will pay the extra 40.00 difference per night and go back to using hotels.com. DO NOT USE THEM

Flight tickets
February 20, 2023

It was my first and definitely LAST time to buy flight tickets through booking.com
Horrible customer service. I bought a tickets in December, my flight has changed 3 times and finally I canceled the purchase because they were not able to get the wanted original tickets. It was no reason for cancelation, I just bought the same tickets directly from airline. But I lose my money because 2 month later the price went up! Ridiculous!

Hotel reservation
February 20, 2023

We booked a hotel at roadway inn on highway 17 in phoenix. When we arrived at the hotel about 815 pm we were told the room wasn't ready. The manager then disappeared. Would not answer the phone. Spent at least an hour on the phone trying to resolve this. Booking. Com said it wasn't their problem. That I needed to talk to Priceline or the hotel manager. The parking was filled with homeless people and drug addicts who were using drugs there. It felt very unsafe so we left so we didn't have to sleep in the parking lot. Of course they kept our money. Don't book with them.

Never use Booking.com
February 18, 2023

I booked and paid for a room at a hotel in Medicine Hat Alberta for the 8th of Feb. This year through Booking.com. When I arrived the desk clerk told me no reservation or payment had been made and I would have pay for the room. The clerk told me since I hadn't received a confirmation number from Booking.com likely nothing would be charged to my credit card. When my Visa statement arrived it showed a charge of $81.85 to Booking.com as well as the charge from the hotel. I spent an entire afternoon contacting Booking.com, and getting the runaround. They couldn't find my email or my phone number, or any evidence of a charge to my account, but they certainly found my credit card number to take my money. I was told because there was no confirmation number to refer to, a refund could not be processed and there was nothing that could be done about it. I will never use their service again and would warn others to avoid them like the plague. Booking.com should get negative stars

Very difficult to get answers from them. I spent an hour on the phone and was told I would receive my payout the next day and to call if I didn't get it. I called the next day and was told they hadn't even facilitated the payment, and that I needed to! After speaking to multiple people they finally released the customers credit card info (yes, the houses you rent out can see all of your credit card info), but then they didn't give me a zip code to actually run the card! I had to speak to three separate people and had to be called back and transferred to numerous representatives (they have to call you back on a separate number to discuss anything) only to find out they didn't collect the persons address. How have they been in business so long? They told me they were going to put me on hold and call the customer and ask him for it and it was 11:30pm at night! I finally told them that I would contact the customer myself and get the zip code and i asked them not to contact them, because they still seemed confused about what I needed. 10 minutes later I received an email from them saying they needed MY zip code to run the payment. They not only went against my request to not contact the customer, but they accidentally contacted me instead.

Aside from that it was very confusing on how to list your property and set up the proper terms to rent out a place and even though I selected to have my house be rented out a minimum of 5 days someone was still able to rent it out for 3 (for less then the price I had listed). And no I didn't have any discounts available. Use air bnb or vrbo that are much easier and professional to work with.

Really frustrating. I booked a $5k package. A week later my hotel was cancelled due to over booking (a week before departure), when I called, I was told I would get an email with a link to change hotels. I never received that. Finally I called to just get a refund and was told they wont refund my flights. So I have a flight but no hotel. No one responds no one follows up. I was told that their platform allows the hotel to manage the inventory, so they can overbook and then just cancel on you and you have no recourse. The hotel they were promoting was still on their site showing availability for that week even though it was sold out. So others could have booked and then received a cancel. It's really bad business. I will never use this company again.

Just useless.
February 18, 2023

I can't be mad at the property. They double booked, but it happens. I get that. They offered me a different place and it wouldn't work for me. I rejected it. I figured we could work something out.

I reached our to booking.com about the situation and attempted to find a resolution. I figured it'd take a day, maybe an hour, whatever, to find out some kind of middle ground. They double booked, but they did say they wanted money up front. I booked this 20 minutes ago, but the doorman at the location told me every facet of the situation (Thank you, sir. I wish I could review how awesome you were.) I figured there'd be some cancelation fee, but I hoped that Booking.com would help me find one that was slightly reduced.

Nope. Within 5 minutes of me asking to cancel, Booking.com returned by saying that the company said no. They offered me a waiver for a property in the future, but that's it.

What is the point of using a website like booking.com if they will do nothing to protect me in situations like this? Again, I could understand being told I'd have to pay a fee. Hell, I'd understand if they took a day and there was nothing they could do.

Less than 5 minutes. Less than 5 minutes and they told.me they couldn't do anything. They reached out, the dude said no, and they said "We tried!'

I just figured I'd use Booking.com cuz stuff like this happens. Instead of aiding in a resolution, they just let the other side do whatever they wanted. If that's all the help.i was gonna get, I should have skipped the middle man and just booked with them myself.

It's a useless website. They don't care about you as a customer, they just want you to look at the ads.

NEVER AGAIN!
February 17, 2023

I will NEVER go through Booking.com… We made reservations for our family. I then received an email from Booking.com saying it was pending. Called Booking.com 5x's and was getting the run-around saying they could not find our reservation! They had me call another Booking, com number & this person told me they had the reservation but wanted to know if it was already charged to the bank. I called my bank to see if it had been charged. The bank told me that it was authorized & approved but were waiting for BOOKING.COM to submit transaction to our bank. Booking.com did not submit it. Booking cancelled our reservation. NEVER AGAIN!

Booking.com are in with the hotels. Hotels will double charge your card.
Hotels will bot return your calls nor emails. You will fight for your life to get your $ back.
They want to frustrate you, to go away and let it be.
Booking.com allows Hotels to do this double charge and will not help you in dispute.
I will never use bookung.com nor any other sight to book a hotel.

I had to delete my Booking.com account because the last two times I used the site my credit card numbers were stolen. I had used the site about eight times over the years and did not make the connection the first time the card numbers were stolen right after I booked a hotel. A year later the credit card numbers were stolen minutes after I used the site to book a hotel. Then the Amazon charges started coming, and coming, and coming. Someone also booked a $3000 Disney trip. It was chaos both times. Do not use this site.

So I'm watching MSNBC on a Wednesday night when Bookings.com comes on with an advertisement making their last statement of "and we have free cancellations too". The owner of this company operates out of the Netherlands so don't believe what you hear cause it's fake news. If you gotta have a third party make reservations for you please find another one!

Book directly with the hotel!
February 15, 2023

Y'all, try to always book directly with the hotel when you travel. I know this, yet I booked a one-night stay in Miami the night before our cruise through Booking.com and I am STILL waiting for them to process a refund. We paid in full in early SEPTEMBER, and on December 22–less than 48 hours before our departure—they summarily canceled our booking. I had to scramble to find last minute accommodations, and here it is MID-FEBRUARY and I am still awaiting a refund.

Avoid this sham of a company at all costs. They're scammers and shysters. Always cut out the middle man and go straight to the hotel. If it seems too good to be true: it probably is. Save yourself the aggravation of having to spend FIVE+ MONTHS waiting for a refund of hundreds of dollars while these a—holes jerk you around.

Pathetic. Zero stars; do not recommend.

Misinformation and terrible customer service
February 15, 2023

I booked a room at the Marina Inn in San Juan del Cabo MX. Booking represented the hotel as beachfront. It is not. It is in a Marina, and what they refer to as a beach is a retaining wall of boulders around the Marina. It is a mile from anything that could credibly be called a beach that people can use.
I stayed one night, letting the manager know I would check out in the morning. He assured me that the cost of the remaining four nights would be refunded per the "partial refund" policy listed on the booking.com website for this hotel. It states that even if I just don't show up, I will be charged for only the first day of my stay.
The company now refuses to follow their stated policy and refund the unused days of my stay.
I called Booking customer support. They can't give me any information and have no authority to address my concerns. Instead they forward my information to someone who dismisses my concerns via email and leaves no contact information so that I can discuss my concerns with a competent rep with the authority to address my issue.
There are many travel companies online. Pick one that will support you even after they have collected your money.

I was looking at a property in Amsterdam. Princess Hostel Leidse Square on Saturday and the site booked the reservation without my clicking on agreement to book it. I was looking at the refundable room offerings as I always book refundable rooms. Always. I did not even get to the screen where the credit cards are listed to choose which one to use and all of a sudden the site booked it as nonrefundable! Even though I called immediately, wrote to hotel immediately and cancelled immediately the hostel will not refund my money and booking will not help.
I no longer trust booking...booking sent my credit card info to a third party without my agreement and now will not refund the money and the Princess hostel is completely unreasonable given that it was immediately cancelled and they have already rebooked the room. I have disputed with my credit card company since this was done without my knowledge or agreement.I tried to add images but your small size requirements make it impossible. I can forward emails if that is helpful
