AI scams on Reddit and Facebook
On SmartCustomer, businesses may not offer incentives or pay to remove reviews. Learn more about our Review Guidelines.
The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

They are horrific. You will pay for a reservation in full and they will use a "virtual card" that doesn't actually go to the hotel. I got charged twice and had to spend days and jump through hoops to figure it out. The customer service reps are all robots reading from scripts and don't actually help you. I have used it for years and today is my last day. I will never use this organization ever again and neither will anyone I know. Save yourself the money, time and headache and book your stays elsewhere. They are all about their money and will do everything to keep your money.
I accidentally booked something for the next day, less than 24 hours before and they refuse to change the date. AND they purposely hung up on me
I am utterly disgusted with my recent experience using Booking.com. This so-called "reputable" platform has proven to be nothing more than a scamming operation, and I am here to warn others about the horrendous ordeal I have gone through. Not only did I lose a substantial amount of money—994 CHF to be exact—but I also endured endless frustration and distress.
I paid 606.00 USD for 5 night stay in St. Louis using Booking.com as the travel agent when I check into my rental it was nothing like the pictures posted on booking.com The apartment had a broken arm on the sofa, a floor lamp that had to be plug in to the wall and unplugged to make the light work the switch on the lamp was broken. The bathroom light doesn't work they have a small lamp sitting on the floor which is hazardous if knocked over after getting out of the shower you would electrocuted. The ceiling fan doesn't work in the bedroom and has black mold covering the fan a hazard to an individuals health. The bedroom closet doors are off the racks. The front door knob is sitting on a table so it's impossible to pull the door to and lock it. I've made 5 calls to Booking Customer Service who makes promises but no results.
Be aware of booking.com, it's a big scam with apartments using the website to offer services, then cancel them a week before your arrival leaving you in limbo. The other sad part that booking.com has no alternative system to offer or a new reservation to cover your back. This is a very cheap company with customer services reps that act as managers, dispute department, and other so they can just kill your case in one phone conversation so they can save money.
As a loyal customer, I had just been cheated in reservation price differences of about- $1200.00- that the company rudely told me to cover. I used booking.com for over four years, but it wasn't nearly a good experience and I just wanted to share this experience with you all so you can be careful.
Feel free to ask me if you need more information.
Thank you
I booked a week at Sancastle resort months before my planed trip to the US for my 60th birthday.
A death in the family forced the cancellation of this celebration. Sandcastle resort gave us a verbal assurance that in the circumstances we could get a refund of the 50% I had paid except for a $25 cancellation fee. Booking.com said that if Sandcaslte resort said that, then would be fine, BUT NO; then we got emails from both organisations refusing to refund. They each blamed each other for the refusal. I'm now down $2400 Australian for reasons over which I had no control. This might not be illegal, just heartless and inhuman. Beware Booking.com and don't agree to large deposits.
Just returned home from a couple of days stay in Bridlington at Albion Cottages
This place is Amazing close to all amenities quiet clean tidy you have everything in your cottage that you need and more my wife and I absolutely love it here we wouldn't stay anywhere else parking is great outside your room and Louise the owner is awesome really lovely can't do enough for you hopefully be back soon Thank You Louise x Tony &Louise x
A cheating organization."We want to refund, but don't know who to send it to." Poo! You have my cc number, I've sent bank info. Still a year later I'm out over $300! Inept, stupid? No grifters. BBN of Miami gives booking anF
I had to cancel my reservation due to hazardous weather conditions and even though the property cancelled my reservation on their end. Booking.com is taking forever to cancel it in their end. They even refuse to communicate with properties or hotels themselves to manage cancellations and ask you to do it instead. What's the point of using a booking platform in this case?
First time I used booking.com and created an account, and was soon told my account was disabled, not able to use the discount as a registered customer, anyway i booked the hotel, because the hotel requires to book through booking.com or some other website. Afterwards, I tried to contact booking.com to solve the problem, the customer service treated me like dumb, telling me to refresh the website and i have even shut down the computer and re-login... and clear the cach, history, cookie, everything... nothing worked, so i was told to call back within 24hrs, and i should be ok, after 15 hrs. I called back, the agent I got sounded like a broken record and told me the same thing again... i demands her supervisor now...
The booking.com doesn't provide a customer number, i had to google it and was able to call. Booking.com is really bad.
I made a reservation for a flight through booking.com. But suddenly it was canceled and modified to a different time that I didn't even expect.
I tried to get a refund because I had to take another ticket. But they didn't respond to me at all even though they guarantee 24hour support on the web. The price is also weird. $100 was increased just before payment. I won't use booking.com anymore.
I've already told this trouble to some people around me. It's disgusting. Nobody trust if you keep doing this.
Booking.com is an awful organization that takes money from people when circumstances out of their control come up. I will never book with this organization again. It's a fraud and money grab that should be shut down. DO NOT BOTHER! I tried to cancel my reservation that I paid over 700.00 for two nights and was only refunded 228.00. I get having to pay a fee, but pay a fee of over 500.00 is absolute robbery.
SCAM RUUUUUN
Please don't book anything on this website! We booked a hotel room online and booking.com took the money but once we arrive there, the hotel said that they didn't receive anything and we had to pay AGAIN in cash. We called them but they say that it's on the hotel and wouldn't give us back our money… BIG SCAM
Booking. Com is cheater, they cheated me 4 times with reservations, don't use this website. They r not providing good services at hotel whst u have chosen and they raise the price by themselves, u don't get at this T price what u seeing online. They r big big Cheater. I had booked at costo Rico and they lie time, property had written that breakfast is free but when we get there they said you can't get breakfast cz when you booked no written. I m requesting people out there don't use booking. Com website ever. Use another website to book anything. BIG CHEATERS AND BIG LIers
I contacted customer service to simply send a message to customer service to change my arrive date since my flight was cancelled per the request from the hotel and the refused to send a email to my hotel to make the change for me they just replied with a generic email stating they can't send a email to my hotel, Something so easy to do and the can't even do there JOB, use Expidia its allot better site and service.
I booked through them two days ago. After two hours of not receiving a confirmation email I contacted the hotel to see if my reservation was good to go, they never got it. I contacted bookings they asked for my confirmation number I explained I never got it. Then they told me there was a payment problem on my end however clearly false as the money is now in their account and my bank can't do anything about it! They told me the funds would be taken off hold and realized back into my account and not taken from my account however they took the money. I then stated I would go to the media and have my lawyer contact them and they gave me two numbers to call, both told me to dial *611 which when I did took me to my bell mobility account, when I gave them my number they told me that for security purposes they don't speak to clients over the phone! They also told me I would receive an email two hours after booking stating to resume my incomplete booking or to refund it's been 32 hours and I never got that email either. Now I am out 70.99$ do not trust them
Had a dreadful experience, booked an appartment! Found faeces on the toilet, broken dishwasher, broken furniture, broken lights filthy fridgefreezer full of old food, dirty oven and grill, only 1 channel on tv, full strip of medication left on childs bedroom floor, sockets hanging of the wall, made a fulll complaintwas told only small ammount could be given as we hadnt taken pictures as we are well in our seventies explained unable to do this, basically being penalised for being elderly DIGUSTED
The biggest public scam ever that seems to last forever, they don't even bother to remove it.
I've booked a 1.400 euro villa and they say I am not eligible for a free taxi, although they mentioned the promotion on their website before and during my reservation. I tried to call them, 3 differet operators hang up on me, after 1 hour and a half of telling me bull$#*!. I've also send them a print screen with the proof and the last answer was that I am not eligible because I've booked the property via SmoothHound Hybrid (I tried to find out I tried to find out what it is about, but of course it's a bad joke).
So the biggest so called first booking platform worldwide is a BIG SCAM and mockery and no one can do anything about it.
Don't use them. First car service was changed at the last minute. Called customer service. Awful! Then second car service was cancelled 2 hours prior to pick up. Left us in a bad position after a cruise. Both events happened within 10 days at the beginning of May. I deleted their app and would suggest others do it also. Can't believe they are in business. Maybe it's because they are based in Amsterdam and don't care.
Booking.com need to review the properties they advertise. And the information on the property details. Either they are not checking the places out or are not bothered about the safety or needs of customers. A few times now I have booked an accomadition through booking and the property is not what they state. And the staff are dangerous.
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: booking.com has horrible customer service. Don't use them.
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: Can you please explain why you think Booking.com is not trustworthy please?
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
