Booking.com Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

Reserved a night on basis can cancel anytime.

Cancelled.

CC Charged as the fine print on a link out from the main site states if cancel loose one night.

Violates consumer guarantees in Australia. The price must be clear and any fees must be declared at time of booking. It wasn't.

Complaint raised with CCC. Chargeback requested on CC as I didn't authorise this charge.

Deceptive company STAY AWAY

Booked through Trip Advisor on Booking.com, or thought I did. Received a confirmation, thought we had a reservation until I arrived at the hotel. NO RESERVATION at the hotel, ended up having to book an inferior room at a higher price. Called for help, these folks are clueless and rude.

I spent 40 minutes trying to figured out what happened with my reservation. The hotel couldnt do anithing and I had to call booking and spend 1 more hour for them to contact te hotel. At the end I had to do a New reservation with te hotel directly beca use evento thought I had an email confirmatío from booking the hotel never revived it. After 8 hours driving from Seward to Fairbanks all we wanted was rest... we Will never book anything from booking.com again

The horrendous low level of customer service is getting worse every day.
Basically I had paid correctly in advance with my girlfriend to go to that hotel for new Year.
The hotel has been closed for a long time, but Booking still charged me my money, and they have never returned my money, even more so in customer service they promised that they would also give me a solution, which never came or credits, nothing. As result I ended up paying double.
I have uninstalled the application and I hope you do the same.
This is the 5 time that happen to me, Iearn from others mistakes and avoid booking.

Also replies come as you can see with auto-answer.

Booking.com horribly stood by and refused to assist me in my issue with the hotel they suggested was a 3 star hotel. The place looked like a crack den. Nothing worked. I was there twenty minutes from check in to check out and brought the issue up to the woman in the front (who smelled like a bottle of liquor). I emailed booking.com IMMEDIATELY after the check out and even used BOOKING.COM to book the room I ended up staying in after leaving. After two weeks they email me back saying they can't do anything because I didn't bring it up at the counter in the hotel. I sent BOOKING.COM the receipt in which I even wrote my complaints after being given the receipt. They don't care about the customer apparently and only listen to the hotel. Doesn't matter if you leave right away - they send you to a 0 star hotel and claim it's a 3 star hotel. Horrible service. Did a charge bank with my bank - and I'll be posting this review EVERYWHERE for their lack of service.

4 months ago I booked a room through them in Columbus OH for a 3 day concert. I made the reservation for 3 days 4 nights (Thursday-Monday)so I wouldn't be driving after the concert knowing we wouldn't be getting out till well after midnight.
When it came time to go we get to the hotel only to find out it was never submitted to them they booking.com so I proceed to call customer support and told them they had best find me a room in a very booked town for this concert that I spent money on.
They call me back only to tell me that I would have to pay the full price at the new hotel and that after I emailed a receipt they would issue a refund minus my original total. I asked if I would get it that same day seeing as the money was earmarked for the 3 days of the concert, I was told yes.
I went through the hassle of emails and numerous phone calls only to get the money back 6 days (Tuesday)later.
They also took a day from me, I was only given the room for 3 days and 3 nights (Thursday-Sunday)so we had to drive the 3 hours back home at 1:30 in the morning after being at the concert all day. Sleep for a few hours and drive to the other hotel we had booked in Cleveland instead of staying at a hotel in Columbus then driving to Cleveland, which would have to 1 hour 45 mins.
So they more or less stole money from me and screwed up our 3 day weekend at the concert because we had no money to eat or drink on while there seeing as we couldn't bring stuff in from outside and if you left the concert you couldn't get back in.
Never again will I use this crappy site or recommend it.

Booked a quick trip with them 3 days before a beach trip for my family. Got the email reply from them stating the room was secured and requesting CC info. I send CC info. A short time later, an email came back saying CC was declined and need to be updated. I did so with the same result. So, I entered a different CC. (Now the 3rd time.) It was about 8: PM, so I left work and went home. The email stated I had 24 hours to get them my CC.
The next morning I saw yet another email stating my CC was an issue.
Called the actual property and they said the room was no longer available.
Concerned about being charged by Book.com I found their customer service number. The person, who had a heavy Indian-type accent told me "they are required by agreement to give you that room". I had already pleaded and spoken to manager at property, the room was already given away. They COULD NOT give me the room. The booking.com person was not understanding that. When I asked to be transferred, she agreed and then disconnected me.
After calling my CC company, they saw in their history the approval come across with no $$ amount. They did not decline it. When I called the property back, they blamed the CC mix up on booking.com "sometimes not sending all the CC info."
Regardless of WHO messed up, booking.com had bad communication and even worse customer service.
(And, it seems strange how many of their properties have a much higher review than the same properties on other sites)

Just returned from a 5-day-business trip in two different cities. Booked both hotels via Booking and what can I say?! No problems whatsoever. Absolutely good place to find hotels. Will use again.

Booked a room at the Polynesian in Myrtle Beach. When we arrived at the Polynesian it was the filthiest place I have ever encountered! The room was uninhabitable! Had not been even vacuumed... food or some unknown substances stuck on floors... beds were filthy... bathroom was disgusting... lobby was filthy! We were refused a refund! Booking.com should remove this business from their list! Will never use booking.com again if these are the types of places you get when booking through them!

As a teacher, their commercial showing an out of control kindergarten classroom is a complete insult to all teachers. Commercials like this are a complete misrepresentation of a very important profession. I would never use this service or recommend it to anyone. Please rethink your advertising when trying to shame a profession.

I booked 3 separate nights at a property in Toronto. Soon after booking I got emails from the property owners saying (a) my reservation would be cancelled within 48 hours if I didn't sent money, while booking.com said I had until a week before each date to cancel; and (b) that I had to book for 3 nights on each stay though booking.com let me book for one night on each trip.

Will never use them again.

Used booking.com to book a room at the Quality Inn Merchants Drive in Knoxville, Tenn. Their promotion clearly advertised free cancellation and pay at the property. My confirmation came back with a $189 cancellation fee if I cancel the room. Some days later my card was charged $220.30 for the room. I am sharing the room and did not want to have charges on that card. I only used it to hold the room. Through slow correspondence, I was finally informed that the room cost more for free cancellation. I never saw that option. But I can live with that. I responded asking about being charged for the room. It's been a week and I have had no response. I will never use or recommend booking.com again.

I stayed at the Super 8 Amusement Park in Charlotte NC. My first warning should have been when I saw police constantly circling the parking lot. I came back to find the police there with a young man handcuffed on the ground. I went out the next evening to return to several customers complaining about their room only to have the desk clerk call the police on them. The hotel was supposedly no smoking yet my room smelled like smoke. The sheets were dirty with cigarette burns in the blankets. There was a large hole in the wall for the cable hook up to the television. The ice machine did not work. I paid too much for this.

Wrong policies
May 21, 2017

They have a option called pay at hotel. We have done a booking with them. In spite of having selected option of pay at property, and then not getting any booking confirmation they charged us. When you connect their customer care you get reply in weeks and that too negative. Be aware of these people they are cunning & cheat people.

Crossland economy studios in Durham North Carolina is the most filthy, disgusting hotel you can think of. We arrived on may 12 at 11 pm after driving for 13 hours. We got to this place wanting to shower and rest but as soon as we opened the door to our room, the smell of cigarette was so stron that we could hardly breathe. There were holes on the walls, the kitchen and counter were yellow and you could see something that resemble mice droppings on top of the stove. The tub was yellow and full of hairs; there was even an insect that looked like a centipede crawling inside the tub. There were black stains behind the bathroom door as if someone had thrown a dark liquid onto it. Under the bed and all over the room, there were bottle caps, candy wrappers, bread crumbs and dark stains on the floor. Furthermore, there was so much dust that it looked like the room had not been cleaned for a long, long time. I literally felt sick. We had to leave at 1 am to find another hotel. It was a nightmare. I don't recommend Crossland Economy Studio and neither Booking.com.

Booking com Tyrant
May 19, 2017

Booking com is full of abusive representatives who obsessively steal payments for my reservations. Booking com Amsterdam finantial department allow account manager to perform finantial malversation, to steal my payments and to remove my property in order to steal about 7000 euros of my payments. We were one of bestsellers property in my City. Booking com CEO Gillian Tans never responded to me, completely support discrimination, torture, finantial malversation at Amstaerdam Booking com office, support abusive, arrogant and aggresive account managers, customer relations support. Booking com company trained representattives to be tyrant. Account manager Srdan Honovic made falsificated criminal, abusive statement about me, falsificated all property documentation and finantial reports and refused to pay for my reservations more than 2000 Eures. Srdan Honovic planned to take and keep it unpaid about 5000 euros of my reservation, planned not to pay me. All of this crime, falsification and unpaid reservations has been approved by Viktor Yanchevsky Customer relation executive who is person who legalised crime on Booking com. That is the best description of Booking com from my side. Booking com pay representatives to abuse, discriminate, to steal reservation payment and they are organised like tyrant who torture and torture.

Cancelled our villa 8 weeks before we were due to fly, despite knowing it was cancelled for a month before contacting me. No comparable alternative offered, and basically 'you can have a refund in 7-10 days and go away - bad luck on your flights, not our problem'. Absolutely shocking service and you can't leave a review to warn others if you haven't stayed with them.
