The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

If you are thinking of using Booking.com then think carefully. Hotel prices are higher than the open market. Customer Service is appalling, 2 weeks in and I am still chasing for a refund after changing hotels in Istanbul due to bad treatment, second one not booked through Booking.com. Cancellation is more challenging than a hike on a Saturday. The "genius level" is a scam, no matter how many times you book, you get nothing other than "you are one step away from loyalty". Prefer direct hotel booking or TripAdvisor at least you know what you're getting.
After advising that the AC didn't cool {provided fotos of the room temperature}, the sliding glass door did NOT lock {provided fotos}, there was ZERO cable {foto provided} & only 1 of the 2 burners on the camping cook top worked... Luis turned into the most vial, disrespectful & rude person... Even harassing & threatening us.
Upon reporting all this to Booking... Booking said that they were going to provide a full refund.
However, in the end, they actually felt that they were being gracious in forfeiting THEIR commission & only refunded 12% of our booking.
We have been working with booking.com for probably 15 to 20 years and have never ever had any issues, and then when we had the MOST heinous issue EVER... they were not there to back us.
** All of my photos are JPEG but it would not allow me to upload anything.
I was promised a refund after we turned up at the hotel i booked to find there wasn't a room, we were sent to an absolute dump close by which was part of the chain, very poor hotel, sub-standard. I repeatedly rang booking.com but they blamed the hotel, eventually I got fed up with constantly calling them and accepted I had been scammed, I will never use them again, another lost customer.
Scammers, the hotel I booked Viva Palace in Delhi didn't have a room available we were sent to OPO Alpine, disgusting filthy hole with rags for towels. Booking.com taking no responsibility and still advertising the same hotel even though they know I was scammed.
I wanted to find the cheapest place near office. When I sort by price I can't sort geographically. When I use the map it always shows me prices on the map that I can't get, it says something like from 50 Euros, but then you are offered a room for 200 Euros. When you want to go back to the map from a selected hotel you always have to zoom back into the map again and find the place - annoying! In the end i just sorted by price again and just went through the first three pages to pick out hotels that have in their text that they are close to my office - laborious. I found it really complicated to find what I wanted and I have no idea whether it is the best choice. I will use other services for future bookings.
Canceled my booking on 27th October, spoke to two consultants and am still waiting to be refunded! I was told that the payment had been done and that it could take up to 30 days. We'll it's way over 30 days and no refund. I've checked my bank statements and nothing! So will I ever be refunded,?,?
DO NOT use booking.com - hidden fees, terrible customer service...the properties they work with charge more than the confirmed booking.com quote and booking.com doesnt refund the overcharge. I paid for 2 adults and a child, booking.com confirmed that the child is included in the price (over email) but when i went to the property, they charged 20% extra. Upon complaint to booking.com, i was told by customer support that i will be refunded the overcharge in 5 days. It has been 2 months and the customer support put me on 30 min holds, dont call back, tell me they dont have an escalation process and even say that their Finance team's bank accounts arent working to make the transaction. It's a pity that a big company like booking.com would stoop to such unethically low levels to generate revenue by stealing from customers. Look for alternatives and boycott this horrible service.
I am writing this review with immense frustration and disappointment in the service provided by Booking.com. My ordeal began when I booked a flight through their platform, only to have the airline change the flight details later. Understanding such situations can arise, I requested a refund, which Booking.com agreed to, assuring a full refund.
However, it has been an exasperating four months since that assurance, and I am yet to receive any refund. My patience has been tested beyond reasonable limits, having made 25 phone calls to their customer service. Each call ended with a promise that someone would return my call with a resolution. Yet, not once has this promise been fulfilled.
This experience has not only caused financial strain but also significant stress and wasted time. The lack of accountability and customer care from Booking.com is appalling. Their inability to manage and resolve such a fundamental issue reflects poorly on their operational efficiency and customer service ethos.
I expected a far better service from a company of Booking.com's stature. This experience has severely dented my trust in them, and I am left questioning their commitment to customer satisfaction. I strongly urge potential customers to consider my experience as a cautionary tale before engaging with Booking.com.
I hope this review serves as a wake-up call for Booking.com to improve their services and communication. Customers deserve transparency, efficiency, and respect - all of which have been sorely lacking in my experience.
I booked a flight with an insurance if i had to cancelled it
In 28-11 from Thessaloniki Greece to Athens and get back the same day
I cancelled both tickets
And i did not get a refund
I had an insurance for that reason.Don't buy a ticket from this company
Booking.com overcharged me for a 1-night stay at a hotel by over $400. Upon calling the hotel, they gave me the runaround and told me to contact Booking.com. Getting a hold of someone at Booking.com was not easy as they were requiring confirmation numbers and PIN numbers I no longer had access to, so I had to dispute the charges through my credit card company. What an absolute sham. Let your friends and family know. Do NOT use this "service" unless you like burning your money.
They had one job and failed.
booking.com locked me out of my account and cancelled all of my "confirmed" bookings without notifications. Left me out in the cold. Scam.
When renting a car, Booking.com website states: "How do I pay for 'extras' (GPS, child seat, additional drivers, etc.)? In most cases, you'll pay for them when you get to the rental counter. In some cases, you'll pay for them when you're booking your car. And in some cases, they'll be included in the price of the car you're renting.
When you're booking your car, we'll make it clear".
But when picking up the car I was requested to pay extra $100 for dropping it off in a diff location, even though I requested that through Booking. Where is the part "we'll make it clear?" The rental car booking was requested for picking up the car in one location and returning it in a diff location. I accepted the final price Booking.com offered, but still had to pay extra. That wasn't stated anywhere, and when I call Booking.com the agent said they can charge whatever they want. Sorry, but when I travel I don't want "surprises" like this and Booking.com support was terrible.
This is the last time I trust Booking.com, there are many other places online to find the same services without hidden fees that are not clearly disclosed when booking the car.
I made a booking in France. Upon arrival the host was a no show. When I contacted booking they washed their hands on the matter. I had to find a last minute hotel at my own pocket
Not even one star from me but this isn't an option, booked several flights from booking.com in August, the last part of my trip was Dublin to Leeds on the 25th, Aer Lingus cancelled my flight to rebook on the 27th, contacted the airline who state I should contact the agent I booked under, the agent advised there was nothing they could do, I needed to contact the airline.
I thought my contract was with booking.com, abdolutely shocking response from booking.com, I was left in an airport with nowhere to go, I had to get a taxi to the port, a ferry to uk and then a fried had to pick me up so I could get home, left to defend for myself, absolutely shocking, I would advise others not to book any flights with this company, you are not covered by them!
They are advertising rooms which don t exists or they advertise rooms that look acceptable in the pictures but when you reach the location, full of bugs and literally impossible to overnight in. When confronted, they will not reply to email, not phones, and if they do, they will try to buy time, giving you fake promises, as you might forget in time to demand your refund back. Please people use alternatives. Never again booking.com. Scammers!
Scammers - if anyone is interested in photo evidence of the property advertised and the real property, please contact me.
Scammers, still waiting for their email updates about my refund, which is going on since August. The property they were advertising on their platform, is not even the one presented in the picture and i have been charged for a room which i did not even stayed after just entering and seeing that is not the one i paid for, and I have been charged also a deposit for the room, all together including the hassle of almost 400 GBP. Use other platforms, and do not get scammed. More important than your money, is your time. Do not waste your time with these scammers. Do not make the same mistakes as so many others of us did, using their ''services''. You will end up spending your time, money, mental health, etc.
I am usually not someone to criticize an organization, choosing to not use that service in the future, but my experience with booking.com has compelled me to write this review so that no one else would go through what I went through. I booked my ticket from Miami to London on October 25 with a November 25 travel date. Unbeknownst to us they changed out booking and routed us to London through Madrid and for the return they changed our flight to a morning flight instead of the afternoon one, which I had booked, without ANY notification to us. I called the airline I was booked with (British Airways) to get some additional details about my flight which was the following day, but unfortunately was told that I would be routed through Madrid to London (which I was NEVER informed of previously). I was absolutely stunned to hear about this development and furthermore on the return they moved me up to an earlier flight which I would not be able to make because I was returning from Paris that morning and would not be able to catch the early flight, (I booked myself for the afternoon flight).
I spoke to 7 different people (between booking.com and British airways over a period of 5 hours without any solution to the issue, British Airways kept telling me to go back to booking.com and booking.com told me to connect with British Airways since the schedule change was done by them. They kept blaming each other and I as a customer got completely messed up in the process, with no help from anyone. There was no customer service and at times the advisors got very rude and testy. I was finally told that nothing could be done because when I initially booked my ticket it was via Madrid (which is false because I have an email confirmation to prove that I booked a direct flight and my return flight was an afternoon one).
I would tell everyone reading this review to please do not book your tickets online through 3rd party, and even if you have to pay a little bit more please book through the airline website. I wish nobody has to go through what I went through customer service agents truly do not service the customer.
Terrible company, of the worst sort, we had an unavoidable situation arise that left my wife without a debit card to lodge with Avis, car rental booked via booking.com.Avis cancelled our booking and booking. Com refused point blank to refund us, except for the insurance element of the hire. Awful customer service. Will never ever use this parasitic company again. Beware avoid at all costs.
What does it matter if the app and website works. When mistakes are made by companies on the app the booking.com customer service is of poor quality.
I purchased air tickets with booking.com and 6 months before my tour arrives I canceled it for personal reason. Booking.com told me that I will get airline credits and can use it within a year for my next trip. I was okay with it. When I tried to use it before my credit expiration date American Airlines told me that they already refund it. I never got my money back to my card. Airline says they refunded to booking.com and booking.com said they didn't get it. I wasn't sure why airlines refund it before credit expires when they told me first time they can't refund, but credited. Why even booking.com can't help me if they didn't get money or not. I believe The both companies has internal agreements to cheat with customers and steal money. I called so many times both parties but no one knows where is money. Unbelievable, it's just a lie. It's very simple to track it if they refund it. If they didn't refund either give me money or let me use my credit. I am done with both companies and my suggestion for you please stay away from Booking.com and Americans Airlines.
This really upset me, not only not getting my refund, but also the fact of calling more than 4 times but giving big different solutions. As a customer I would expect to receive a fair and firm answer from a reputed company like booking.com.

Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: booking.com has horrible customer service. Don't use them.
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: Can you please explain why you think Booking.com is not trustworthy please?
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
