Yes, you get SAMPLES, but the samples you get are minis of full sizes you'd otherwise have to buy. I've added some fantastic products to my routine thanks to BB, however they do have a tendency to include flat out junk (i. E. ugly hairbands) and re-sending things. If you're upset about the sizes, well what did you expect for $10 a month?
My issue is with the beauty profile. It's not as detailed or deep as some other sites and more than once I've gotten stuff that just doesn't work (i. E. hair product for curls when my hair is straight. And yes, you do answer what type of hair you have).
This is good for noobs who don't know where to start for make-up and other similar products. It's really not as bad as some people complain about, but I don't know if I'll continue my subscription once it ends (gonna try some other similar services).
There points system works pretty well. After reviewing 2 boxes you have about $10 to spend in the shop. However, some products are more expensive on BB than on Amazon, but then again some are cheaper. Do your research.
The website looks good and functions well and is easy to navigate.
Had to use their customer service once and they were very courteous and thorough.
I ordered a 6 month subscription for my daughter. The 1st box came and it was extremely disappointing! There were basically 5 sample sizes of various creams. One was empty! For $10, I didn't expect much but definitely more than THIS!
Also, you have no way to talk w/customer service. I tried the Live Chat but that doesn't work. I waited, and waited and never had a person to converse with. I emailed customer service and DID get an answer, but it was 2 days later. I've been told the guys birchbox items are WAY better than the crap they send to women.
Too bad... such a great concept but won't last if they can't provide a value other than the sheer excitement of receiving a box (full of nothing much) in the mail each month...
Samples are horrible, I could get these by visiting the cosmetics counter, Ipsy and Walmart boxes are so much better. I am going to cancel this subscription. I have to give emails so I receive better samples? Not going to happen...
I thought i had an issue with them... it was on my end... i contacted customer support they contacted me back within the hour. I started my subscription with them in August, my boxes have been coming around the same time every month for the exception of this month which is a couple days late. But rather later than never. Ive been loving the samples. There have been maybe one to two that i didnt like. I just give them to friends. All in all Ive been extremely please with them and recommend.
I'd also like to know why bother sending me products that will make me "beautiful" after 2 weeks but only send me enough for 4 uses? Another complaint is I find many of my samples do not come with directions for use such as the hair serum in my last box i. E.; how much? Wet or dry hair application? But I must admit I still get tickled when my new box comes every month
Accidentally made the wrong purchase and immediately tried to cancel when I saw the error on the confirmation email. Apparently, Birchbox can process orders on the weekend, but can't cancel them. I emailed at 6:30 PM on a Friday, less than 5 minutes after the order, but their specialist said they couldn't guarantee anything would be cancelled because it was the weekend. Well, Monday at 8 pm, three days later, I got a confirmaton the product I didn't want has shipped. Yay!... not. No thanks. Done with birchbox and regretting my full year subscription. Go with Ipsy or any other company for product samples.
I laughed when I opened the box. I'm not sure what $20 went to besides the CEOs vacation home. Hilarious.
Who buys samples... Samples are free! Also I am pregnant and can't use a single product all full of harmful chemicals. Just more for the landfill. Sad.
I never heard of birchbox until a friend referred me. If all the samples I've received I have used all but maybe 3. The perfumes and lotions smell spa fresh. The face creams are dead on to my profile and the hair products they send are a good send to my thick wavy long hair. I honestly don't have anything negative to say. I her excited when I receive an email saying my box is shipped. Its a must try.
I have been trying repeatedly to contact someone through there site (to return part of my order, not a birchbox) and no one will return my message and there is not phone number that I can find.
I received a gift subscription and I receive a box every month... but after six months I have never received a sample that I could use. And, the samples are teeny tiny. The whole thing is basically a rip off... definitely not worth $110/year. I'm horrified that the people who gifted the subscription paid so much. The samples should be free. Even if it were free, I'd opt out. Don't waste your money.
Terrible customer service. Always looking to defer the blame.
Brought a deal through Wowcher, they couldn't process my details. When they finally did process my details (after many emails of "its not our fault" ). They took the Wowcher code but still proceeded to charge the monthly fee. Which of course they would not refund. Just terrible chirpy emails about how it is mine and/or Wowchers fault.
The products are ok, in a box of 5, there's usually two that are of good quality. All in all its just not worth it.
The service itself is going great. I've received each box on time, have gotten tracking information, have loved the samples, etc. My November box has a value of over $52 (calculated using the price per ounce of the full size versions of my samples). That's amazing for a $10 box, and all of the samples are ones I will absolutely use, so it saves me from having to go out and purchase the kinds of products that I would likely be purchasing regardless!
The issue I have is that there will inevitably be a problem with an order, and there's no real reason to reach someone immediately. Case in point... I ordered a pair of earrings to add on to my November box. The charge went through on my card, I received a confirmation email, and the points for the purchase were added to my Birchbox account. When my box arrived, it was in the oversized packaging with bubble wrap that is used when an add on is purchase, but there were no earrings. Only my November sample box was included.
I get it that these things happen, but when they do, it's imperative that they're resolved quickly. There's no easy way to find a number or email address on the site. Instead, I had to wade through a maze of of FAQ and then fill out a form. (If there's contact information more easily listed, I didn't see it. That needs to be considered, as contact information needs to be easy for customers to find.) The number I did find asked that I schedule a call back time. Emailing via their online form them resulted in a promise to respond within 24 hours, which I never got. Finally, I tweeted the company, and I was told to email them at *******@birchbox.com. THIS and ONLY THIS got me a response, and a fast one at that.
Birchbox should be commended for handling it quickly once I got my email to them. Within just a few hours, they'd shipped it to me overnight via UPS, and it should be arriving today. That's absolutely AMAZING and well above and beyond what I'd have expected them to do. (I'd have been happy with USPS snail delivery so long as I either got the item or a refund.) So they do deserve a KUDOS in that regard.
But I do remain somewhat concerned. What if I hadn't tweeted them and gotten the email address to contact them directly? What if I'd simply stuck to the online form method of contacting them? Would I have received a response? Would I now be on the phone with my credit card company disputing the charge and cancelling my sub? These are things for the company to honestly consider.
Subscribed to Birchbox years ago, for myself and my two daughters. Frequently our boxes contain 90-95% of the same contents, despite our beauty profiles and the decades between ages. The straw that has led us to cancel our subscriptions though, is the direction the company has gone with their customer service. You can no longer call them, you must schedule a call back time - with a 3 hour window. If you go the offered "Live Chat" route, expect a minimum of 15 minute wait before the chat begins. You can also email them and they will return your email - with the caveat that usually they get back within 12 hours (one and a half typical work days). Customer service on the schedule of the company and not the customer is really not customer service at all. They also do not offer a "cruelty-free box" for those who wish to use only products not tested on animals. We are shopping for a replacement service.
It started off great! Good samples, great customer service, even a real live person when you called their 800#. Not anymore. Samples slowly start to suck and get smaller and the customer service is all thru email and live chatting now. Don't waste your money!
I get the monthly men's box for my husband. It has had great things in it. Some things he has gotten are razors, earbuds, socks, and lots of men's grooming products. Use code to save $10 bucks. https://www.birchbox.com/invite/makeup
I overall enjoyed the products, but seemed to consistently have problems getting their site to work for me when I tried to change selections for items in the box. Then when my credit card expired and I attempted to update, their system wouldn't accept my new card. I subscribe to a number of online subscriptions and only theirs gave me problems. After going back and forth with them several times, I finally just cancelled my subscription. So now I will be sending my business to other beauty product sites.
Birchbox is a great way to try out new products without paying full price for them. If you find something you like, you can virtually get it for free using the points system. If you fill out product reviews you can earn points to go toward any product that you choose. All of the products that come in your monthly box are available in full size in the Birchbox store. I open up every box with dread knowing it's filled with things I'll never use and
YES - I filled out the personal profile. Can't wait for the year to end. Sorry I ever switched from other company and even sorrier I signed up for a year. Junk junk junk! Steer clear!
I recently placed an order with Birchbox to receive some full size products. The box contained four items, and one of them was slightly damaged. Birchbox replaced the entire box without asking any questions. Very pleased with their customer service. Also, I have been extremely happy with every box I've received!
Answer: I've bought a few. I've liked several more enough to buy a full size item but haven't gotten around to it yet because I have enough of a similar product on hand for now.
Answer: The issue I've had with them is that their customer service contact information was difficult to locate, so I get it. I had to contact them over Twitter to get it. The email form on the website doesn't do you much good. Try sending an email to [email protected] for a better response. If all else fails, and you can't seem to get them to stop charging you, contact your credit card company, and let them handle it for you.
Answer: I work at a credit union. What I would recommend in this instance is canceling the card and then disputing unwanted charges. There is no way for the institution to cancel the subscription for you. However, as I said, we can issue you a new card number and help you dispute the charges that you did not authorize.
Answer: You get one point per dollar when shopping in the Birchbox shop. Additionally, reviewing the items you received in your Birchbox earns 10 points per review, and sharing your box on social media also yields you 10 points.
