This was a gift and every month received the same, small sized sample products of CC cream that I never needed. Never received a lip gloss. One time got a full size neon blue eyeliner. I actually emailed customer service and told them about how awful the samples were, that I never asked for CC cream and who wears neon blue eyeliner?! Customer service blamed it on my profile not being filled out correctly. What a crock! I also said every time I received an email to customize my next month's box, the product was always "sold out." This is complete trash marketing gimmick. Save your money.
This company bombards you with information, gives you a package tracking number that registers invalid, the February box doesn't arrive until March 1 and then doesn't contain the samples it was supposed to contain. Birchbox is more interested in selling you all sorts of beauty products rather than provide superior customer service and products in its monthly subscription.
Birch Box for men is a big rip off. I was so mad the first box I got I canceled and they still sent it. This was even worse. Do not get the 20$ Birch Box for men. Elizabeth Price
I thought this box was going to be great. But the products were a one time use. It also says that each box is made just for you, which is FALSE. The only thing great about it was the boxes were cute.
What a terrible terrible company. Once you're in they almost make it impossible to cancel. This whole company and premise is just a huge rip off and I fell for it. Beware of the company and its false promises! Stay far awsy
2016 I decided to try the wonderful but hit or miss world of subscription boxes. Birchbox wins my rave because the Customer Service was GREAT! Answered my questions quickly and you can tell it was not just a generic answer. I could tell a live person read it and she was so giddy I was like well you love your job. My first box was OK not a WOW but not a dud. I did not get one sample again Ms. Giddy CS Rep sprung into action by the end of the week it arrived. Also the lotion I told them I didn't like Almond scent Ms. Giddy CS sent me the scent of my choice. Sorry to be so long but the Customer Service was well worth the subscription price. So thumbs up I can't say anything bad about Birchbox. And my review is not coerced I was not bribed, or paid. Lol I'm just honest and I will always tell you the good and bad. I will however quit writing books and rambling.
I purchased an annual subscription for my daughter as a holiday gift. So far I am disappointed with Birchbox. I was sent an email to choose the box wanted for February. I sat down with my daughter today (January 30) to choose. The deadline was January 31. Both boxes say they are "sold out". You send an email telling a subscriber that she has a choice and provide a deadline but she has no choice at all. I don't even know if she will get a box this month but even if she does - it wasn't her choice.
The January box was fairly disappointing - very small sample sizes. I am sorry that I purchased this subscription for her. I wish I would have waited and just renewed her subscription to Glossybox in February for her birthday. I truly feel like this is a ripoff kind of scam. Yuck.
Not sure why I spent time filling out a style profile when it was entirely disregarded. I cancelled after my first box. I selected liking natural make up and got a thick black liquid eyeliner. Noted having dry curly hair and got a dry shampoo for oily hair. I tried to opt out of fragrances and that's not an option, but the bad baby powder smell of the lotion they sent was shockingly bad. None of my friends will wear it. There is also a one use size sample of primer and a peel, both items typically given away for free or at most would cost $0.99. And no refunds, so I cancelled but save your money.
I recently bought a birchbox monthly box, and I got charged but never got it. They took $10 and when I contacted them they said "Oh it must be someone charging on your card and it wasn't us ask your bank blah blah blah." Do not buy from here, IT IS TOO OVERPRICED AND IS SO NOT WORTH IT. I also got a travel kit a few weeks ago which came, but it is sample sized even though I payed 40 fricken dollars! DONT BUY FROM HERE, ITS NOT WORTH IT!
Why did not get the last 2 months of boxes, they were not very good in sending these boxes, the person that bought it for me had to keep calling to get a lot of the regular orders. They got just quit calling. Would not recommend birchbox
Following up on my previous review - more useless stuff. Just opened my 3rd box today - 5 more tiny samples of items to give away (if I can even find anyone who wants to try them). Biggest waste of money - 3 boxes received so far for a total of 15 samples & not even one of the 15 has been worth trying. Where do they come up with this trash? I cannot stress enough that this subscription was a huge mistake. $30.00 down the drain so far and not even one product worth trying. This was a gift subscription so it cannot be canceled, unfortunately.
I did not like birchbox at all! The samples was extremely small and you babe to pay full price to get a full sized. I signed up with ipsy and they are amazing! You get 4 to 5 high quality deluxe samples and I have always received alway 1 full sized item! Also if you wish to purchase a full sized sample item you get a discount of 20% to 50% off on the products Web site! Then they have a referral program for you to earn points and get more free product! To top it all off they have product giveaways you can enter into and win products worth up to $300+! Check them out using my link!

I only order one month to try.
The stuff they sent to me are all junk, including those face wash that contains tinny plastic ball to cause fish to die!
Then next month, the box comes again! But in the first order, there is no mention that you have to cancel the subscription! I refuse to open this box and want to send it back, even without refund. But they just refuse to send me the return address...
After trying several times to cancel my subscription and sending my un-open boxes back I NEVER did receive a refund of my four months of payments. I even wrote and emailed company and now months later... still no refund! Pam West
Why would you pay for samples?
I feel like there is a lot of misinformation out there about what the average Birchbox actually looks like. The most appealing photos you will find online were generally posted 3-4 years ago or, suspiciously, by paid bloggers. These days, the average Birchbox seems to be riding on brand recognition and making people pay for what would otherwise be free single use samples from department stores.
Not only that, but they don't actually use your preferences when they send you your selections. Not everything is for everyone and I expected a bit of hit and miss, but it's pretty ridiculous how off the products are. Expect to receive products that are targeted towards 12 year olds if you are in your 40's, and anti-aging creams for grannies if you are in your teens.
Lastly, most of the products are no-name crap. You'll generally get one name brand item and then a bunch of weird low quality filler.
What a disappointment. I would not recommend.
I like this as it introduces me to products that would never see or buy on my own. I'm not sure why it costs 2x the price as the women's but it was a gift at any rate. So I'm enjoying it.
I was a loyal customer for over 2 years and even sent a 1 year subscription as a gift to a friend. Yes, many of the items I got in my monthly box were totally useless, but it was fun to get a little box of goodies every month.
In November, they previewed a box and I fell in love with a specific lip color - I even invited a friend just so I could sign up for customizing my box a bit earlier. I did everything "right," but the lip color was never in my box. Contacted customer service and they apologized and said they would send a replacement right away. That never happened. Contacted customer service 3 more times in December and January and was promised a package would be sent asap - never got my lip color and never got a follow up from the company until I reached back out to them (and they said they didn't have the color anymore). I cancelled my account immediately and am now blasting their horrible service.
I'm moving on to FabFitFun boxes instead!
For the first few months I enjoyed most of the products they sent me, but then I began receiving a lot of junk in my boxes. My makeup bag is full of stuff I'll never use again from them. They say they hand pick products just for "you", but after reading other people's reviews, I'm finding that isn't true. I got the same green and gold eye shadow mentioned by two other people just on this site.
What a scam this is. Received this as a gift. Not a thing I could or would use in the box. There is probably not $1.00's worth of products in the box. Not worth saving for this year's "Dirty Santa" grab bag. My friend's money would have been better spent with a donation to charity.
Shipping is also an issue. My package spent days in TN and days in IN.
By the time I was able to fill out my profile, there was only 1 box remaining of a 3 month subscription. Who knows, maybe the next box will contain purple mascara to go along with the gold eyeshadow. Halloween will be exciting this year. I will be made up as a 74 year old "lady of the night", thanks to Birchbox! Trick or Treat!
Answer: I've bought a few. I've liked several more enough to buy a full size item but haven't gotten around to it yet because I have enough of a similar product on hand for now.
Answer: The issue I've had with them is that their customer service contact information was difficult to locate, so I get it. I had to contact them over Twitter to get it. The email form on the website doesn't do you much good. Try sending an email to [email protected] for a better response. If all else fails, and you can't seem to get them to stop charging you, contact your credit card company, and let them handle it for you.
Answer: I work at a credit union. What I would recommend in this instance is canceling the card and then disputing unwanted charges. There is no way for the institution to cancel the subscription for you. However, as I said, we can issue you a new card number and help you dispute the charges that you did not authorize.
Answer: You get one point per dollar when shopping in the Birchbox shop. Additionally, reviewing the items you received in your Birchbox earns 10 points per review, and sharing your box on social media also yields you 10 points.
