I bought a savannah monitor for my 11 year old son. It was his first reptile pet. Monitor arrived alive but skinny. I have owned many reptiles including monitor lizards. This monitor would not eat, we tried pinkies, fuzzies, crickets, mealworms and nothing. Two weeks later my son checked on it and it was dead. Very unhappy. My guess is it was not captive bred and they probably did not make sure it would eat before selling it.
I hate leaving bad review for companies because i legimately want to give people especially local businesses my money. Well lets just say i contacted this company due to their website stating that they had a buy 1 get 1 deal going on. I left a facebook message cause they stated they won't answer the phone due to high call volumes. They got back to me and who ever was on the other end was being a complete douche bag. Instead of explaining what the whole buy 1 get 1 meant on their site he/she took it upon theirselves to call me an idiot and that im stupid for thinking they would ever give a snake away because they would be losing hundreds of dollars. All they had to do was respond in a reasonable way and i wouldve been more than happy to do business. Now they keep blowing my facebook messenger up and telling me how much sales they did last year over 742%, well lets see covid shut the world down 2020, so i would assume your sales would be alot higher the next FY. I'm just gonna say i shouldve researched this company before even looking at their products. I would never give this company money for their $#*! customer service approach, they just want your money and don't care how they treat you.
Bought 4 bearded dragons from these guys and the first 3 bearded dragons were correct but the last one I bought was a super red leatherback. But really sent me a super red normal scale. Just wanted what I ordered but the guys at big apple herp says it's a leatherback what do you guy think, so far everyone I've talked to says normal scale. All I'm saying is if your going to sale something make sure it's the right product to make your customer happy
The company canceled the order unilaterally without consultation
The reason for the cancellation was that I ordered it from another place.
Got a pied ball python today. Only has one white band close to tail. It's 95% color. Very disappointed. Won't be ordering from them again. The packaging of the snake was great. One thing they should do is let customers know what they've been feeding the animal. I thought it would have at least 2 bands... According to other pictures of people who ordered the same snake it had several bands on it.
I wrote them when i recieved 2x bearded dragons one was tan and the other was black and sickly after 2cdays it died they won't even answer me I had just lost a 10yr bearded and they sent me something else to morn
I have bought more than a few reptiles from Big Apple, and all have arrived as promised and on time! Their customer service is unmatched! If you text them, they get back to you very quickly. They are very helpful, they answer your questions and make suggestions to help you out.
Was skeptical about ordering a snake on line. But I couldn't find the okeetee corn snake anywhere local. I found one online here at big apple. I made my purchase and was glad I did. They were very helpful and replied quickly while asking questions before I made my purchase. The snake arrived alive and well. He's everything I wanted. Packaged safe and secure as well.
I got a dead leopard gecko from them and I sent them the video of how I carefully opened the delivery bow. After waiting for three days they finally told me it's my fault to its death because I sprayed very little alcohol to disinfect the FedEx box before I opened it? I can't believe it because they told me they didn't understand COVID and said no research shows any surfaces or objects can carry COVID virus. Even if they told me the weather was too cold to ship it at first, I won't be so angry. I'm very disappointed, bad customer service!
Ordered a carpet chameleon and Arrived Dead.
They missed shipping out the order as they promised TWISE.
I Picked up my order at the Fedex Hub and open it right away, box and heat pad were still warm, but Chameleon was totally dead with its tongue out. Contacted customer service and he told me Live guarantee Voided because my nighttime temperature is 3 degrees below their requirement.
I didn't aware of that otherwise I would never risk it.
Customer service said can only do a small partial refund which is $13.77 loss to them and I have to lose $114.90.
1) Box and heat pad were still warm, highly possible the chameleon was not healthy or have respiratory infection already so it was stressful and not suitable for transport.
2) If the DOA is because of a low temperature, It WOULD NOT happen if they ship it out on time in the first place. They missed shipping out Twice but take no responsibility for that.

Got my Spiderball on time and safely she's absolutely stunning! They even checked the weather in my area to make sure she arrived without freezing
So here's my whole experience... brace for it... it just keeps getting weirder and weirder... i'd accidentally auto-filled an old number, they come back with "order on hold, incorrect number" with nothing else, do not say how to fix it. So i give them my order # as proof of my order, and change the phone number to the correct address. They send back a screenshot with the convo they had from the person who apparently now has my old number and all it said was "order still on hold" again, did not say anything on how to fix this problem. So at that point, i figured i have to re-order with the correct number. They then claim that all i need to do is verify what was items were on the order. So i did... but then they said..."i'm gonna send you an email of what you need to do" so i was like ok what ELSE do i need to do? They give me a fee, NO explanation for the fee whatsoever. So i assume it's either a shipping, relisting, or "seller inconvenienced" fee. I pay the fee, presumably for the wrong phone number on my first order. Despite NEVER mentioning this before, they come back saying "it was because an item you ordered was out of stock and the next closest was more expensive." he NEVER mentioned this. So, i actually sent a SCREENSHOT of the email, showing they NEVER mentioned what that fee was for. At that point, he realized i wasn't going to fall for his bulls*** and decided my retaliation for his dishonesty was not worth the risk. I dont' know what's up with these people, because they DID refund me. That's what the 2 stars are for... 1 star would've been if they hadn't... i just think it's a bitter old man or something who runs this business and expects everyone kiss his toes and to play his stupid game.
Ordered a baby/young Indonesian Halmahera blue tongue skink and received it less than 12 hours later. Healthy, happy, very active skink now named Zilla. My daughter loves him and that makes me love BigAppleHerp even more. Customer service was great. Ordering was simple and fast. Pricing is good, we'll definitely be getting all our reptiles from them!
The snake came sick and skinny with an ICE PACK! They only guarantee snakes 3 days and this snake died in 2 weeks! I should've know as soon as I asked if they were African imports and they didn't know what it was! Don't buy from them!
These guys are GREAT! Steven, one of the employees, tirelessly spent two hours assisting me in getting my credit card info straightened out so that my order could be processed. Back and forth in emails and texts he continued until we got it right. I couldn't be any more happier. My order arrived at the specified time safe and healthy. I cannot tell you how impressed I was with the customer service. I wish every business operated in this manner. Such a rare quality to find these days. Thank you again guys. I received my new baby gecko very quickly and he/she seems happy and healthy! Their colors are even better than expected! Very happy with my purchase!

I spoke with an agent through the big apple herp/big apple pet supply Facebook messenger, and they were very rude to me. Their responses were very short and what they said didn't answer any of my questions, it was like they just skimmed over what I said. I had to re write my question and they were being super vague so when i didn't understand what they were trying to say, they started using capital letters and sarcastic sentences "again, like I said" like I was an idiot. I wanted to know info on a gecko to purchase and they treated me like I was an idiot. Never ever purchasing anything from this company.
I ordered 2 snakes and they arrived overnight and were stunning, the customer service is amazing and i will be buying more in the future

Answer: Absolutely a legit company! DO NOT ORDER from backwaterreptiles.com, they sent a sick baby skink that needed an emergency vet visit that cost my daughter $208, she paid $220 for the skink from them to begin with and it ended up dying.
Answer: Excellent options, great prices, and they quickly respond to emails, which many other reptile dealers don't do.
Answer: Not worried bout it what's done is done. No turning back the hands of time. Lesson learned
