I'm pretty tech savvy but trying to actually hear my purchases was a fail! Yes I only have one account the webpage shows me my purchase but the app when directed to (which is also logged into the same email address etc WONT acknowledge my purchases! Stick to your local library folks and keep your $$$
Since Amazon bought audible I have not been able to log into audible despite buying a new book and yes they charged me. Amazon customer service is a bloody joke. Their chat team say I need to do a call back, that service does not work and then finally received an emailed telling me to log into Amazon account and follow online screen prompts… yet there is no online screen available! Another online chat and they said to do a call back BUT that does not work! No replies to emails either. Just a rip off company taking money but not delivering, SHAME ON YOU Amazon.
Sent me a really rude email accusing me (disguised as a ''hope you are fine'' type email) of abusing the returns system. How is it my fault if the narrator is awful, but that this isn't obvious from the 5 min sample you are allowed to hear pre-purchase? Or that the 5 minute sample is actually someone else reading the Preface and not the book itself? Or that it is only after listening for 10 -15 mins that one realises that the book is actually dreadful? Unbelievably rude. I thought their policy was return any book any time?
I have never had an account with Audible, I never signed up for a free trial, yet I was charged for a subscription several times. I changed bank accounts and somehow Audible was able to get my bank info and continued to charge me for a subscription! I have no idea how Audible was able to get my info, but they did. I have had to call several times now to get refunded. As soon as I get my refund this time, I'm going to see about canceling my Amazon account for good! Although I fear that I will just be charged again. This company is stealing money from people. This should be illegal! How is this business getting away with this? Don't use Audible, you been warned!
I love books and love to read, but I don't have the time with a growing family and challenging career to keep up with everything I want to read. Audible is the one thing that keeps me connected to my favorite authors, new books on topics I enjoy, and now podcasts as well. For my commute, business trips, picking up my kids from school (which now takes an hour due to distancing precautions), I'm able to stay entertained and informed thanks to Audible.
Don't subsribe! You are forced into a subscritption, which you pay for but if you cancel before using credits you paid for, you then lose your credits. Basically, Amazon gets money for giving you absolutely nothing. It Audible were a legit company, they would refund your unused credits. It's like sunk cost. If you don't use the product, you don't want to cancel because you have unused credits. So, you say, I'll wait another month, then forget, then they get more money from you. Now you've spent like a $100 on nothing, but don't want to cancel as you haven't had a chance to use the credits. It's the most disgusting business practice
Audible is fraudulent and totally lacking in transparency. I lost well over $100. Audible has been charging me every month for something I don't want, don't use, and don't recall signing up for. Amazon, please be more transparent.
If you cancel you lose your free tokens for books, which means you have to pay a membership to receive your free stuff. If you cancel, you lose it. Such a scam.
Not only was their selection awful but when I called to cancel, I received an email saying I'd need to cancel my credit card because "for privacy reasons" they couldn't remove my card from their billing services and report an unauthorized sale... WHAT? So, 7-10 days to get my refund AND I have to wait for a new card. This is called PREDATORY PRACTICE!
Audible is a criminal company. Period.
I purchased 5 "Audible" language learning programs on Audible — It was stated that all came with pdf texts and audio, but the pdf texts on 4 of the 5 won't download, and their customer service did not help, The woman I spoke to on talking much too quickly when giving me " directions", and her directions, when finally understood, did nothing to make the pdf link on the Audible page work. She then claimed that it probably didn't work because of my device—an Apple iPad, the brand available—so I've bought all these audiobooks for nothing—since without the audio I can't learn the difficult language, written in a very foreign script, at all. Looking at Audible reviews, I see that the vast majority of reviews ( several hundred) have similar problems with Audible. Amazon really shouldn't tolerate a "service" that the overwhelming majority of customers/users condemn as defective, uncooperative, and ( in many descriptions) a scam.
Audible have been telling me I have no membership yet they take 9.58 euro from my account each month! I cannot cancel - Audible if reading contact me on *******@gmail or call me on **************
I have an audible active account. I had uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Now I am unable to login from Android. I had called the team they kept on tossing my call from AMAZON TO AUDIBLE FOR 1M5HRS WITHOUT ANY SOLUTION. MY ACCOUNT SUBSCRIPTION IS ON. MONEY IS GOING AND I CANNOT LOGIN. THEY ARE TAKING MONEY FROM ME AND NOT GIVING ANY SOLUTION.
PLEASE DON'T TRUST THEM FOR UR CREDITS IF AT ALL THERE IS ANY ISSUE. MOST HORRIBLE SERVICE
I cancelled my free trial and membership but 5 months later they have taken a payment from my bank account, I see this has happened to a lot of people, how are they getting away with it?
I tried to get it sorted out but ended up canceling my bank card which was a hassle.
I spend all my time listening to audiobooks, so in spite of my negative experience I decided to renew my membership. After all, Audible now claims that books can be returned for a whole year after purchase.
It is August 2,2021 and, for the first time, I went to my purchase history to return a book. Today I discovered that none of the books I've bought IN THE LAST FIVE DAYS are ELIGIBLE for return!
I usually buy audiobooks from Apple. The few times I've submitted a request for a return I have done so as soon as possible and I have received a refund each time.
In addition to lying about the list price of their audiobooks, your monthly fee buys you one book worth, pretty much, the same as the fee. An extremely over-priced service--which is what one would expect from a company that is pretty much a monopoly.
I am currently a member because when I cancelled after my one month free trial, they offered me a year-long subscription for $95 plus 11 credits.
One positive thing--I've been able to return audiobooks when I realized I didn't like the narrator or got a book I don't like.
Audible lies about having a free 365 day return policy. I returned two books and they locked up my entire library preventing me from returning any more books. The books I returned were two of the $2.95 books. I thought I'd take a chance to see how they were since they have free returns. They sucked so I returned and then found out I was blackballed from returning anymore, ever I guess because they locked up all of my books in my library. Well to hell with Audible. I can go elsewhere.
Elsewhere there's a comment about a possible Amazon Audible scam.
And I'm thinking this may be the case in my recent purchase of a Kindle book.
Don't buy much from Amazon and this time round I noticed they were promoting the Audible version of the book.
I was sure I did not purchase it but was billed for it.
In the email confirming the order I clicked on the download button which took me to Google Play store.
And I installed the app so I could hear the book.
But could not hear because I had to pay for an Audible plan.
Duh! I have already paid for the audio book and they want me to subscribe to a plan to read it
Elsewhere I was also advised to cancel the credit cards listed in my Amazon account and have done so.
I'm told if it's a scam which I believe it to be, they can unlawfully charge my card for a monthly fee to Audible
I was originally part of Audible USA which I joined 15 plus years ago whilst in the UK. It worked well. When I wanted a book I paid for it and got it. There were occasional issues with downloads and I phoned the USA helpline (from UK, New Zealand and Australia), got through to a real person, and was talked through the problem courteously and without dificulty. I recently purchased an audible supplement for a Kindle book and the download simply did not occur. I have done this exercise previously with no problem. I went online to get a phone contact but was repeatedly diverted through to the Australian subscription service and could not find a useable helpline number, the USA number not being available; the "Contact" button just took me through another irritating online circular exercise. I do not want a subscription, I want to buy a book when I feel like it but this is no longer a going option. I cannot get through to the US divison from Australia and am left with loss of money and no redress. I want the book I paid for or my money back; I can achieve neither. If there is a means of redress, I can't figure it out and it should not be that difficult. I did send an email online with no response. I would love to buy more audible books but there is no way now that I will do so (as a matter of principle). Audible should sell the punters what they want, not foist a difficult system on them. At least offer an easy to use helpline rather than this impersonal and irritating subscription website depicting a jolly smiling lady belying the frustration of dealing with the company. Oh, and did I say some of my books have gone missing, well they have. I would normally formally and courteously complain, but there is no easy way through and all is left is to deliver a bad review via Google. It is time that avaricous companies gave up the time consuming and difficult online stuff for the sake of profit and paid a few real people to answer telephones.
When I first joined I loved it. Now it's horrible. It's a real hassle to return books. Due to eye disease I can no longer read so I listen to them. I was told I can no longer exchange books because I return to many.
Answer: I've had the same problem, they charge me from the US AND Australia so I can't even cancel cos no access to these sites. If you manage to contact them, they should refund you
Answer: Not not a clue but they refunded me all the money back they took out my back so alls good
