It is frustrating when they unpause the membership by themselves and start charging again. I think such a big company shouldn't cheat their customers.
Audible does not work anymore with Windows 10 since Jan 2022. Personally, I will not go to Windows 11 as the reviews for that are very bad. I asked Audible about fixing this. Their decision to expire Windows 10 compatibility was a conscious and deliberate one. The customer service was NOT helpful. There only advice was to submit a suggestion. My issue is, that this company charges a monthly fee on top of the cost to buy an audiobook. Because Windows 10 is retired from Audible, you cannot download and save the audiobook YOU PAID FOR without Windows 11! It is in their 'cloud' for 10. So, if you don't have ay internet access, you cannot listen to your audiobook. This was a bad move by them, and I will NOT be staying with them. I can buy the audiobook CD and save it to my Windows 10 PC. Customer service was not pleasant, and they do not care about potential customers. My iphone does not have enough memory to hold a complete audiobook, so this is very IMPRACTICAL. The point of paying for something is to own it, and to have access whenever you want. If you like keeping your money on the cloud, or want to go to an intrusive program like Windows 11, by all means do what you like. But, buyers beware. Always know your options, and what you are getting yourself into.
I began with the Free Trial, same as most. Got me a free Audio Book (I think... my memory is not so good due to head injury from the war) and also did purchase a few here and there. When the Trial Period was up, the one thing that caught my eye and made me feel good about continuing my membership was that they said members get 1 Free Credit per month to use on anything you wanted. After 3 months I had still not received a single Free Credit and said Ill wait one more month. Came and went with no credit. So I discontinued my membership and thank god I was able to keep the books I had purchased. It may be trivial to some, but during a time when COVID has kept people stuck at home, gas is $6 a gallon, etc... a free book is nice to have.
Despite the promises of "if you buy the book, you keep the book" upon discontinuing membership, they're as honest as Obama. 2 books out of 30+ am I now allowed access to, and many of the now forbidden, I did indeed purchase. Like the Mofia, I have to pay a fee to be able to still access them. I will absolutely never pay another dime to Audible.
I can't get enough of this app. When I found the discovery and realized I could get books for free I have used the app every day. As a teacher, wife and Mother being able to escape for a little while is good for me and everyone around me. I LOVE TO READ, but didn't always have the time. Now I can listen while shopping, driving and even cleaning. What I think they need to change is in the Discovery section allow you to put in included in membership then pick genres. I get a little frustrated scrolling, finding a book then realizing it is not included. I use my 1 credit when I get it and done in couple of days. Have 27 days left and need to use free library- just wish that was easier to navigate. Other than that if a Prime member the cost is SO WORTH IT. One other quick note LOVE THE INFO WHEN CLICK ON BOOK it help me decide if I want it or not easily. If you love to read and don't have time this app is a must!
IT TOOK ME 30 SECONDS TO CHANGE MY PASSWORD FOR MY NEW PHONE WITH MY BANKS, AND OTHER SITES BUT 45 MINUTES OF INTERROGATION TO ATTEMPT THE SAME CHANGE,. I WAS TRANSFERRED THROUGH THREE AGENTS TO COMPLETE THE VERIFICATION PROCESS, AGENT THREE SUGGESTED i CANCEL AND OPEN A NEW ACCOUNT. THEY HAD NO TROUBLE FINDING MY ACCOUNT TO CANCEL.
Audible seems to be a company built on sneaking recurring charges past customers.
I bought a Kindle to use with my library card's digital library. A little while later, my partner (with whom I share an Amazon account) mentioned they noticed a recurring charge for Audible on their card. We quickly got that cancelled and thought it was settled. A few months later, I noticed I was being charged for a Premium Plus subscription as well.
I called and the first associate I got was incredibly rude. After I told them I was being charged for a Premium Subscription that I didn't sign up for, she kept saying, I need more information without saying what information was needed. When I asked what additional information was needed, she just kept saying more information about your subscription and not clarifying. After a few circles of that, I asked for her name and a supervisor, and she said 'no, you just have to call back,' and hung up.
If I could give their latest update a negative zero I would. 1. I've been with audible since before the Amazon merger. 2. I have over 5,500 audible books from Audible. So you can understand when I say search engine is wack. There isn't a way to show which books are bought by me or still in there library. Why do the they have a black background with the option to change it to white. You cannot see how much the books cost. There is just an option to buy credits. 3 for $39.99. That's $13.33 per credit which make you overpay for books that maybe $4.98. So there is really no price difference between a two hour book or a 15 hr book. And why can't they have a simple column for the books you borrow fir my included books. They've separated themselves from Amazon kindle where if you buy the kindle book you in most cases get the audible at a discount price. Which is how they built their following. I absolutely hate the resent change because you can't put in a part of the title and find your book, you have to know the exact title
I have over 5000 books. That not reality thinking. They should ask people like me who use there audible app 24/7. My wisdom to Audible is simple is alway better. With price of their books going up up any way and other apps like Chirp etc out. They are making it easy to get my audibles somewhere else. In my photos I show in the search engine a book I have (Grimm by e k edem) for the example of how the browser sucks.
I love the selections Audible offers. It is really nice receiving one credit per month. I especially like the audio samples and in-depth descriptions of each title. Since most of us are on the go a lot, in our cars, I use the time to listen to a lot of Audible books. This is especially helpful when I don't have the time to sit down and read a book. With Audible, I am still learning while on the go. I called Audible last month and an awesome young lady by the name of Nicole answered the phone and she was beyond helpful. She went above and beyond to answer all my questions. She even offered extremely helpful information that I did not ask about. I told her the type books I was interested in and she made some great suggestions. As a result, I actually used my credits to get books she recommended. Nicole was so personable, patient and professional. When Nicole explained various books to me, she brought them to life. She introduced me to the Audible Plus catalogue and explained in detail. She also informed me about the books under the "Originals" tab which I was excited about. Audible is very fortunate to have Nicole on their team!
You get unlimited books with Audible, but if you return too many within a certain time period, you get that feature taken away for good. You get one credit a month, which us a rip off for people that get through the books really fast and can't afford the $20+ for a book when credits run out. I have called multiple times and they said they can only return three books for me and no more. So I have to call later and ask to retun more. What an effed up policy. They are scamming people left and right and getting away with it.
I took a trial and they took it for granted without letting me know they keep charging me for the membership. No email or text receipt. I just notice in the bank statement after four-month.
Don't sign up for this. They continue to take money even after canceling. To this day have to go to the bank and refresh the stop payment. I filled out the cancelation months ago and they still continue to try and take take the money. I even have the email confirmation that I canceled.
Cannot permanently cancel subscription unless on a desktop, yet they offer the option to pause the subscription for 3 months on the mobile app and website.
What an absolute joke, scam, and I will not be giving any more of my own money towards this joke.
I was surprised that after cancelling my audible membership all my credits were removed however, I sent an email to the customer service team and they were able to help me get the credits back and they even offered me again a free trial. The respond email was very fast and the agent was super kind. It was really a great experience because even though it was my fault, the agent was able to find a solution with an exceptional customer service.
I tried to return a book that I purchased last week, and was told when I went to the return purchase screen. That I was returning too many books and abusing their return policy, that I wouldn't be allowed to return any more books. And, I received my credit on the 5th of this month, I bought a book that I had in my wish list. The narrator was Dreadful, the plot was flat and taking forever to get anywhere. I tried to return a book that I had bought with my credit, and was denied a return again. This is complete BS. I I changed my subscription to the lowest monthly cost, I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER BOOK FROM AUDIBLE. I have paid 100s of dollars for their service and am being treated like a child for wanting to get my money's worth. I have read several of the negative reviews on the return policy and will be looking for another service like audible to give my money to.
One star is for Lisa in Nevada she was definitely a big help canceling my membership unlike her coworker before he was no help he literally kept huffing making me upset why tf He huffing I'm the one being charged in January. I cancel the membership thinking that's all you had to do nope,! I was wrong they charge me again so I called to see why I can't remove my card it keeps charging me. So Audible gave me a free trial of Audible for the second time to try out there new (to me) that includes a selection of books that are included with your membership in addition thee the one credit a month. Price is the same at $14.99. So I thought why not. Got my 2 free book plus my membership.
But there's a major problem. The rating system is completely rigged. Out of the three book I chose two were terrible. The third I have yet to start. In choosing my books I look at the overall rating. Sometimes I look at individual reviews but don't often want or have the time. Then it occurs to me that I had yet to see any reviews below 4.5 stars. Upon further exploration, I couldn't even find many 4 star rating. Not a single rating under 4 stars. Given the number of crap books on Audible that should be statically impossible.
This makes choosing books on reviews completely pointless and untrustworthy.
Didn't Amazon get sued before for false and fake reviews and lose? Audible need to be closely looked at as well.
Audible will end up sucking you dry. My membership started at 14.99 and is now over 21 I can never cancel because I always have about 5 credits and they rarely ad new titles I like. I listen to many books at the library. I have almost 100 titles and they will not let me quit without losing my credits. I have been stuck for years like this if you want an audiobook go to the library for free
