Audible Sucks! They say I bought a book on Amazon that included an Audible subscription. The book they named, I never bought. I had to cancel my charge card. Then they billed the new card. Amazon provided the new charge card info. I had cancel that card too. Check you charge card statements for a $14.95 fraudulent charge! Call *******051. Insist on speaking to a Supervisor. If they insist on asking you ANY questions, hang up and call back. Searching the web, I see hundreds of other similar complaints. My wife had it happen to her also. Audible said they canceled the account. We'll see next month.
They only allow you a maximum 6 book credits and then they remove ones you have already paid for. Pretty much a scam!
I was lured in with the promise of one free audiobook if i made an account on their website. I never gave them ANY authority to use my credit card details from amazon. Turns out they have been charging me monthly, I received monthly credits which i ignored because i was NEVER advised audible had subscriptions, I thought you purchase and that's it. Absolute scam, only now cancelled as I saw it on my statement.
I signed up to this sight after an advert for it saying try it for a free book. Signed up with my email and nothing else. 1 year later and I've been charged a bloody fortune for something I didn't use. They got my credit card details through Amazon, and charged me through there. $#*!ing ridiculous that you can be charged for something when you don't give that site any of your details. Never using it again
Firstly, I DIDN'T order Audible! (I like reading rint myself. They apologised. I accepted their apology)
Secondly, my refund hasn't arrived! (Even after 2 weeks)
I think the Attorney General needs to investigate this company (grr)!
I had never signed up for an Audible account nor used or downloaded anything. However I just noticed when looking through my statements that I have been being charged for 12 months to be on their "gold membership program" ridiculous!
Be careful! They took money from my account for 10 months! Have not even used this service... Not recommended
The selection of books is pretty good. It is not an entire library though. It downloads on amazon kindle very fast. On any other device it is more than slow. If you do not own a kindle forget it. Over 3 hours to download a book on all my devices except kindle. They will not answer problems when brought to their attention. I was a customer for over 3 years before laid off and forced to quit subscription.
I found a charge for audible.co.uk on my bank statement back in july so i contacted audible to fund out what this charge was for (and cancel account if i had one)my answer from audible was that I DID NOT have an account in fact they had no. Record of me all together. Since then audible have took money out of my bank account another 3 times. How can they do that if i do not exist in their records? Because of these other charges it has also caused me to have aditional bank charges. Sort out your information audible please and also stop charging me!
Same story as some. Found charges I didn't recognize on my bank statement. I use Amazon regularly, Prime, etc - possibly my 6 year old got click happy and signed up. Who knows. Anyway, they were quick to research, cancel, and refund me. Good on that end, at least. Might be nice if I'd received some sort of email requiring a reply confirmation. It is a little bit questionable, and I feel like Amazon should certainly take a hard look at the partnership and practices. It shouldn't be that easy to accidentally sign up for something.
Audible has been charging my credit card since June 2016. It was such a small charge and I never noticed it until I looked at my cc statement in September. First off, I never signed up for this so when I called to find out what this was all about, they couldn't give me any info because my email address didn't correspond with the account they had.
So red flag - this company is charging my credit card on a monthly basis yet my only email account isn't linked with the credit card they are charging. What a pain in the $#*!. Obviously someone is using my cc to charge and since I couldn't give them the email adddress they had on file, they couldn't cancel the subscription. The lady I spoke to sounds like this happens all the time.
I had to call my cc company and dispute the charges and they had to cancel my card and issue a new one. Then I had to change all my reoccurring payments. So much trouble!
I cancelled my membership, I received a cancel confirmation mail, then they charged me normally and when I called them about it after waiting for 20 minutes on hold they told me I should have cancelled both UK and US services
My gold membership lapsed because of a compromised credit card that I failed to update. Found out that all my credits that I had paid for and had not used were deleted (stolen) and would not be available to me unless I purchased another month to renew my membership. Very poor treatment for someone who had been a member for over 10 years
Audible pushes their subscription plans heavily. It seems great but the small print will eat you. The "Great Listen" guarantee is all well and good, unless you are a subscriber, if you have a monthly or annual plan, please don't apply. So much for loyalty!
They said my 12 year old daughter used her email account to get a trial order. Refused to cancel even after told them she was a minor without capacity to contract. Had to finally cancel my credit card after hours on the phone with them. Didn't realize they were part of Amazon. They just went in an placed unauthorized orders on other cards on Amazon. They really showed me. I canceled all the cards on Amazon just to keep them from more fraudulent charges.
If you want audiobooks, just buy them individually--they will be cheaper than purchasing a "membership" through Audible. Do not get involved in the Audible mash-up with Amazon. When you purchase an Audible book through Amazon, you can't tell if it used one of your Audible monthly credits or if you paid by credit card ( you pay $14.95 a month for each credit--why would you pay $14.95 for an Audible book that retails for $1.99? Yes, that's right, many Audible books only cost $1.99 and you're at risk for using a $14.95 credit to pay for them!). There is absolutely nothing on the Amazon site that tells you how you paid for a book.
You have to go to the Audible.com site AFTER you purchase the book and the Audible.com site will tell you whether your credit card was used or whether a $14.95 monthly credit was used. This is ridiculous! The only way around this is to purchase all your audiobooks on Audible, but they don't tell you this. You have to do a "Help" chat to find this out. Audible is a complete rip-off. You will end up spending $14.95 a month to purchase "credits" that you will end up spending on Audible books that otherwise would have cost $1.99 out of pocket. There is no worth to a membership at all.
Canceled my membership, eliminated all methods of payment in Audible and Prime and they still make withdraws out of my account. I now have to resort to issuing stop payment block on my account. BUYER BEWARE...
I have never ever used this service and this company continued to charge me a membership fee for a service i never used... i caught onto it when i did my annual finance review and i found out they have been charging me for about 6 months now. I called them and threatened a law suit against them for stealing from me and they were real quick to cancel my subscription and refund all my money... its like they've had this issue before. Don't use this company at all they are a bunch of thieving liars.
Audible Scam - an account was created fraudulently and even GBP 7.99 was deducted from my bank. I only registered for amazon and not sure with whose persmission they passed my personal information to audible uk
I just started a FREE trial with Audible and used 1 credit (which costs $0) I had to listen to a book and they charged me a $15.70 membership fee even though I was only to days into the 90 day free trial. I called and complained but they acted as if they didn't do anything wrong. A free trial is a free trial! Just because a person uses a credit to find out if this is a membership they want to keep at the end of the trial doesn't give them the right to charge you a membership fee!
