I recently canceled my account with AT&T. I canceled it the day after the billing cycle started. I knew if I called them they would tell me I have to pay for the extra day so I paid it that same day. Now they tell me they are keeping the whole month's worth of my payment because the billing cycle had already started. So they kept 82.50 for one day of service and then they tell me I should have read the contract. I was with them for five years and technically there was no contract. I never renewed and they kept it month to month. But they refused to give this single income, single mother her money back.
The initial reason I cancelled is that every other time I tried to log in to pay a bill i would be asked to verify the account with the code they sent to my phone. Only it was not my phone, my son had the phone and I could never get it in time because he is away at college. I told them that over and over with emails and chats, but nothing was ever done. Now they get a bonus by keeping my money.
I get nothing can be done because they are a huge company, but anyone reading this can avoid what happened to me, by canceling service in time where they aren't stealing your money, just because they can get away with it.

Lack of service
July 24, 2021

Lost land line service a week ago. Was told that no technicians were available. Today a tec. Whom I never saw, left a door hanger with his name and time of service claiming it was fixed. Well it wasn't! Well I called the number on the card and got auto this and auto that before finally talking to a live person who explained that it was too late in the day to get him back out here and next week all available technicians were busy!
I asked why this guy didn't knock to make sure our phone was working. Of course no good answer. We are in our 70's with health issues and need our land-line working. Our doctors use this number. Wish we could not pay them but our internet is through them. Terrible service there as well. You want a copy of my bill from them as proof?

The salesperson who convinced me to switch to AT&T was the start of the lies. Basically AT&T is not counting my trade in credit and claims my phone is "lost," so they are charging me hundreds of dollar. However, I have provided them the imei number and usps tracking number. 10 months last and 13 calls later to customer service…no progress. They are rude and they don't take notes so each time, I have to start over. Often they say, "Let's just see what happens next month" and nothing happens. I have never felt so financially stuck. They will not leave their service without paying the full price of the phone I was supposed to get for free. I have cried and screamed over something so simple. They will not let me talk to a manager. I leave them 0 stars each time they ask for feedback and no one follows up. Avoid the stress at all costs and choose someone like Verizon instead! I have wasted 14 hours of my life on them having the same conversation.

Don't go with att! My husband has TBI AND IS DISABLED! HE has been with them for almost 20 years! No issues until his phone got STOLEN! WE called att and they said that the stolen phone would be covered they wouldn't make him pay for a stolen phone! We went to the att store and he got a new phone! Well a couple days later they added a 1265. 65 dollar balance to our account! The lost iPhone 12 only retails for 799.00 and he has had it since October so he has been paying on it! Well they are saying he owes the larger amount and he only owed 600 and something! The price they are wanting him to pay would pay for 2 iphone 12 phones! So they didn't resolve the problem they are ripping him off and wanting money for a phone that was lost and an amount he don't owe! There con artists! That's not right and no way to do loyal customers!

Bullying and fraud
July 21, 2021

I have had At&t unlimited for about 8 months, and for 2 months now they are trying to charge me for a second phone, second phone service plan with all fees including phone purchase installment, insurance installment, upgrade installment, taxes, etc. as well as a random $50.00 restocking fee for? And of course, two $40.00 reconnect fees... They turned off my service to my actual phone and didn't turn it by on until I made a payment if I didn't pay a big part of this fraudulent lines past due bill.
I have spent 16 hours of personal time on the phone with customer service( mostly on hold)on 6 occasions, having the representatives tell me they removed the ghost plan bill and its generated costs. I thanked them graciously, each, time...
I have spent $60.00 in transportation, been extra stressed, and lost $3000. 00 in business income (due to being without communications for multiple days because of the multiple days of interrupted service bullying"' use of the fake phone bill's past due) And my phone has been getting sub-par connectivity and absolutely blasted by random, nondescript "click link" messages 1-2 every minute (24hrs) for 6 days now. And if I cancel my service now to go elsewhere, I will incur negative creditscore effect (x2) by early contract termination of TWO lines, and I am sure more illegitimate fees, and lose a phone have paid about half of the seriously high price for.

I'm never writes reviews but I'm so done with AT& T. I contacted AT& T for a replacement phone because my phone was not working. The rep told me I could get BOGO free apple watches so I ordered the watches. Now I receive a bill $100 more a month after the 14 day return period has expired. I contacted AT & T investors and discussed my concerns with senior manager Toan and was very disappointed with higher management after being a committed customer for 22 years. We just wanted the company to honor what was told to me and asked if they could go back and review the recording. The senior manager said they only keep recordings for 30 days. The rep promised me that my bill would only increase $10 and that was false and deceptive information. I'm looking to change carriers soon because I trusted the rep because of my longevity of 22 years with AT &T. No resolution and it appears they don't care about deceptive practices from their rep. The options given is nothing compared to my years with them.

We were told by a customer service representative today "We don't owe you anything!" We were pretty shocked at the audacity of someone in customer service snapping at us like that. We immediately cancelled our home and cellular service.

I was promised a trade in value for my iPhone 6s 64 GB excellent condition of $150, which was to be $5 a month off the price of my new iPhone 11. I have called several times and they promised to fix it and never did. So they refurbish trade ins and resell them and give customers squat! My service is also crappie.

George 's new Kyocera phone that I just purchased yesterday. It was delivered by 12 noon today, even before the free phone being sent by AT&T to replace George's Rugby flip phone, because AT&T is discontinuing their 3G network.

I could not believe how fast the Kyocera phone that I ordered yesterday afternoon was delivered. AND, 2 days in a row... VERY helpful and courteous customer service.

Thank you Shante for taking the time to try to assist us, even though you were finished for the day and leaving the store because it closed at 7 p.m.

If AT&T had the Kyocera listed on my account, she could have helped us. My account only showed the free AT&T flip IV phone that I will be returning, with the label that I received yesterday from Rubiana H.

Shante showed the 2 barcoded numbers on the box, that will help us once we call the AT&T customer service number.

I can only hope that I get a 3rd helpful service person who knows as much as Rubiana H and Shante from the Lehigh Street Allentown PA store.

Keep up the good work girls. You are a credit to your employer, AT&T!

I have never been this disappointed in a cell phone service! I have been on hold with them 50-min & no one has picked up yet! I am a new customer & I want to go back to Sprint. This is my second call to them in a month & both experiences suck bad. AT&at should be ashamed of their false advertisement. I think I hate them.

TERRIBLE. My family has been with ATT for a long time and it's been so-so, always takes hours to get a new phone but decent service.

I recently tried to switch over to Verizon to get a new plan with my husband and they WILL NOT UNLOCK MY PHONE! I switched to Verizon and am now stuck with a phone with NO service. We called customer service to have it unlocked and they said it would take max 48 hours. 48 hours later, it's still locked. I call customer service again and suddenly the passcode that worked 48 hours ago no longer works, as well as the answer to our security question that hasn't changed in years. He says to go online but I've tried the online unlock forum 6-7 times and it doesn't work. Then he says to go to the store, but they seem to be phasing everything to be online. Sounds like a catch-22 doesn't it? DO NOT GET ATT if you don't plan on being stuck with it for life.

Worst company ever
July 2, 2021

I wish I can give AT&T Minus -100 star they are a horrible company and I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy I been without my Cell phone now for 3 weeks. I paid my phone off and wanted to use it over seas with a foreign sim card, they gave me the wrong unlock code and many many calls later and many many wasted hours talking to a punch of edits that hardly speak any English with no resolution in sight.

I received two $50 gift cards via snail mail. Albeit this does not cover the amount charged, I will gladly take it for the headache of dealing with brainless customer service reps with thick accents.

AT&T... the epitome of ineptitude.
June 23, 2021
Previous review

Just one of many: AT&T billed my credit card for a modem I returned back in January. I've been fighting a losing battle for my money back, even though the idiots sent me an email confirming the gear was returned. I've talked to 14 different people since January and the ineptitude is quite mind staggering. I was told that I was credited the amount, but nobody knows where the money is... huh? I was also told by a supervisor, that the finance department was in a "Bad Mood" and didn't feel like helping... um WHAT? Should I give up on ever seeing my $150 again?

After 14 days get an email from ATT that they are removing discounts given by an ATT rep at the their store...

1st No one told me about additional info required.

2nd ATT sales rep took picture of my ID to prove discounts
3rd ATT removes discounts quickly but does not recognize trade ins that you have in your possession for several months therefore keep charging my account - no consideration for my (the customers) cash flow.
4th the up charges added an additional $60.00 a month to my bill - and have to jump through hoops to have them removed.
I believe it's time to consider competitors and move away from ATT as well as go to the internist with these issues...
Very frustrated,
Bruce

They sent my husband a phone to replace his due to his being 3g my husband's phone was paid off and the phone we got was substandard, we had already paid off his phone and were not asking to upgrade but are being force to but at&t refuses to give us a phone like the one they want to replace. I believe they should give us a phone of the same value if forcing us to upgrade.

Upset customer
June 21, 2021

Mr. Stankey,

I didn't know what else I could do but go to the top! I have been a customer for a long time. Bag phone, larger than life battery phone. I realize that in the beginning; it use to be one person at a time. After reporting my phone to an overseas employee whom was told my phone was stolen though I bought two phones at same time one for myself and one for my daughter. She little Miss Independent bought herself one before I could even tell her. In the meanwhile the first phone I activated was stolen out of my pocket in a gas station. So I called to report this I gave att the number at least 3 times! Though they blacklisted both of my phones, they would turn it on and 30to40 minutes later it was blocked, finally a not overseas lady figured out this happened on the 17th they made a claim; I am so tired of telling this story! I have hours invested to get nothing done! As if I really want to call twenty times; I've waited 25mins, I've been sent to wrong departments, also spent one hour and 23mins on phone with one employee. I figure average time with customer service is 30mins 20 calls 10hours invested and still nothing resolved! We are living in different times and I realize this service is terrible everywhere! Regardless I have a choice to make I think this is terrible. Even though you're a very large company doesn't mean you can't fall hard if you don't take care of customers.

Sincerely,
Robert Burch

I have never dealt with a more incompetent and unprofessional company in my LIFE. Takes 90 minutes to have a 10 minute conversation with anyone in customer service. Your agents are poorly trained, I have been lied to several times in an attempt to gain a "sale". YOU recently took $120 out of my account that should've never been taken. And now I have spent 2 hours trying to get my money back! ABSOLUTELY the worst company! I will be leaving this review everywhere I can. YOU CANNOT LIE TO PEOPLE AND STEAL THEIR MONEY AND TIE IT UP FOR 3 WEEKS IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC on top of it all. Completely disgusted that a company that has been around so long is doing this to people. I definitely regret switching at all. There's no way to fix it, don't call me or email me regarding this review. As I stated I will post this review everywhere and every time I see AT&Ts Company name. I have spent more time one the phone with you trying to straighten out your mistakes, "HUMAN ERROR" is your problem!

AT&T
June 18, 2021

I've had AT&T since 2007 with five lines. My bill is astronomical. I decided to try another service due to the cost and the usage. Three of my lines barely use any data AT&T is robbing me monthly and will not change my plan. AT&T will not unlock my paid in full phones holding me hostage. I've spent the majority of my day on the phone with every department AT&T probably has with the last one hanging up on me. I definitely will be moving my lines to another company even if I have to get new phones AT&T is ridiculous and their customer service is horrid. So many people I know are going to different companies such as mint and visible and saving a ton of money. I'm going to save my money and leave AT&T. So I called AT&T again today about my phone not being unlocked and informed them that I will definitely be moving my service mind you I was speaking with a manager and she informed me that if I moved my service I would pay more for my two lines that have contracts for a device now please explain to me how I would pay more for them when I know what I owe on them so in other words they're going to charge me more for those devices this is total bs. I hope people read reviews on AT&T before they sign up for their service
