On SmartCustomer, businesses may not offer incentives or pay to remove reviews. Learn more about our Review Guidelines.
The reviews reflect a predominantly negative perception of the company's overall reputation and customer service. Customers frequently express frustration with long wait times, ineffective support, and unresolved billing issues, leading to a sense of distrust and dissatisfaction. Complaints about unauthorized charges and poor communication from representatives are common, suggesting systemic problems in service delivery. While there are occasional mentions of product reliability, the overwhelming sentiment indicates that customers feel neglected and undervalued. This pattern points to a pressing need for the company to improve its customer service protocols and enhance accountability to regain consumer trust.

I wanted to try a different provider to see if I could get better cell service reception. Been with Verizon for two decades. Weeks after switching to ATT, I knew I had made a HUGE mistake! Couldn't get visual voicemail and calls to tech department/ in-person store consults were of no help. In fact, it felt like ATT had hired only warm bodies to handle customer service. Bad. Really bad. Totally clueless on any tech issues. Add to that the sketchy marketing and information provided before switching, ATT bordered on being a scam or con operation. I usually don't take the time to write reviews like this but the lack of service and quality of 'goods' delivered was shameful - regardless of an ongoing pandemic and economic woes. And to top it off, the company passed me around as soon as they realized I wanted to move back to Verizon (I needed to get a transfer pin/code) - using tactics like passing me to various departments, on hold, or 'dropping' my calls to get me to just give up. But it only ended up making me more pissed (sorry) for switching in the first place. Hopefully my experience will give some others a pause before having anything to do with ATT.
Can't handle it anymore. AT&T customer service representative or loyalty department are all layers. They are rude and lazy. I just canceled my service with AT&T after being a loyal customer for 12 years. Shame on AT&T!
Total clown show. They cut off my internet service seversl days early csusing total chaos! Avoid at all cost!
My internet went out, had to make 3 calls before I got someone to talk to. This took 3 hours. The guy that answered my call was so hard to understand. He took all these tests and concluded my modem was bad. Two days later I get a new one, hooked it up, and no internet.
Another 3 hours on the phone listening to their music and promotions. Finally get a person and spend another 2 hours with his tests. Decides I need a technician to fix the problem. Have to wait 4 days for him to arrive.
Total frustration with this company. Will be dropping them soon.
ATT customer service representatives are liars. I had fraudulent charges on my account. I filed a claim. I was told that my service would remain active during the investigation. My service was suspended about every other day. I had restoration charges added. There was no investigation. I was forced to pay all fees. When I requested a refund of the money spent on the restoration fees and the fraudulent charges ($400+) I was told it would be refunded to me in 5-7 days. That did not happen. Instead a credit was placed on my account. This time I called instead of chatting with a representative. Again I am to wait another 7 days to see if I will get MY money returned to me. No one should be treated like this.
Worst customer service. I been calling to resolve a problem and they haven't been able to fix it. Calling and calling and it's always something different. It looks like if they don't want to resolve the problem. I go to the At&t store and they can't help me neither.
We had two phones that needed replacing when they upgraded their system last year. They sent horrible phones compared to the phones we had (not even close to comparable features) AND the new phones they sent do not work (connection issues, delays, they crash all the time). We have called numerous times but they will do nothing about it except sell us new phones (at their profit of course). This is enough to switch providers. They are awful compared to what we are paying (we have a family of 5 on one account and the other 2 of us on another account). Good riddance AT&T!
My bill is normally around $130 for my iphone. This month it's $212 because I went over my data?!…. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that it's gone up that much in ONE month? How could I use that much more data when I literally haven't changed anything, and I actually use my phone LESS. I hate this company with a passion and I need advice on which of their competitors to switch to.
I called AT&T and complained about my bill and although I did get a bill for $106 the other day the girl I spoke with claims that she deleted the balance. I was very surprised that she deleted it but they did try to charge me and were probably hoping I wouldn't complain about a $106 bill for service that was never activated. I almost just paid it because I had this bad feeling that the entire process was going to raise my blood pressure and ruin my week but glad I did call.
I recently bought a Sim card for an AT&T Hotspot device that I bought from another Internet company. I was told that it would be $50 a month. When I received the SIM card, it wouldn't work in my device so I called them and canceled the service. Today I received a bill for $106 for service from June 21,2022 through June 23,2022. The charges include $60 for a wireless phone and $30 for an activation fee plus taxes, etc. I did not buy a phone. I got a Sim card which was never activated. It would not work. I made the mistake of doing business with this fraudulent company years and years ago and have had to deal with their deceitful and dishonest practices in the past so it was really stupid of me to try to buy a Sim card from them. I would recommend Verizon over AT&T any day. They don't play these deceitful, unethical games, trying to hustle every penny out of their customers. My phone service is through Verizon now and I recently bought unlimited home internet service with them with no early termination fees or other janky ploys. AT&T's site states that they have a 4.7/5 star review which is laughable and has to be another one of their lies.
It took a two weeks and 26 hours on the phone with AT&T to unlock my phone.
First they say "upgrade your plan" ( 20 minute speel and you can't get them to get back on point)
Then they say download our APP or we cannot do this.
Then they say log-into the Internet--what if you loved in Africa or the Amazon or many parts of Mexico---no unlock for you.
Once you say no to all of this they ask for the 33 digit EID code. They have right in front of them on their computer screen how, but they won't tell you. It's like this:
Settings--then General--Then About--then you'll see it--all 33 digits.
Then once you give them that you need a second phone w/ a different phone number to take their call.
Then they say you are unlocked.
BUT... there's more. Don't hang up!
Right below the EID you'll see a place that shows if you are really unlocked or not.
Mine still was locked--I am not surprised at this point--2 hours in--first call last week for same thing also 2 hours.
Once they heard me say..."Sir, it still says it's locked". He unlocked it ( maybe 2-3 seconds more) and we were able to finish the call.
Oops. They still won't let me port my number!
Now I need a 6 digit pin.
2 more hours on hold or being given the "Wild Goose Chase and Upsell". Then you have to have a second phone again. Then they give you a code that starts with a * and then digits. None of the codes work. They just cause your call to be "Disconnected".
I am now on 5 hours and 31 minutes--still can't get my phone unlocked and number ported over.
Think it's the account or number or me?
Nope. I own a law firm. We are moving all 80 lines and each line has had the same issues. We have used 5 employees so it can't be us.
I thought I was done--BUT no. It's been another week--oops now two more weeks. I now have a confirmation in writing from AT&T that they have "ported out" the number. BUT actually they haven't.
So again I am on the phone all day as they pass me around. They even put a "Global Fraud Block" on one of the phones ( w/o reason or authority) because that's another way to avoid "porting out".
This is TORTURE.
I have been a customer of AT&T for many years. At the end of April, I began to experience dropped internet connections on a regular basis. Often the connection would drop after 2pm and resume after midnight. AT&T said it would be a week before I could get a service technician. The service technician said he couldn't find anything wrong on the line. Service resumed as normal shortly thereafter. At the end of May the same thing happened and this time I was told I would need a new modem. The new modem did not work and it was another week before I could get a service technician. The technician could not get the modem to work either and said I had errors on the line, but he could not find the problem. He said he would return the following day with another technician to help, but he never showed up. I had to call again and a different technician arrived the following day. This technician confirmed there were errors on the line and said he made some adjustments which might help, but said it would be difficult for them to find the source of the problem. Again the connection started working after the technician left, but by the end of June the same scenario happened again. This time I am left waiting for two weeks for a service technician. There is no other internet service available at my location. I have lost multiple days from work due to AT&T's unwillingness to find and resolve the issue with my line. I am in jeopardy of losing my ability to work from home and maintain my freelance clients. I am unable to use multiple streaming services that I pay for due to the interrupted service. Because this issue has happened at the end of the month for three months in a row, I am beginning to suspect that AT&T is deliberately throttling my connection, with no warning or explanation. I would like AT&T to repair the line and reimburse me for days lost from work and out of pocket expenses for streaming services I am unable to use.
I'm in ******* zip code and for past few years I'm with AT&T and we have serious issue with are internet, I'm keep getting charge monthly and no good service
ZERO STARS! NEGATIVE 5 STARS!
Awful Service! Beware! Stay far away! Use any other phone company than AT&T! They have taken $2,000 out of my account... TWICE... now and give me nothing but a run around, when trying to resolve the issue. I have spent over 4 hours on the phone, waiting on hold, getting moved around from representative to representative and even hung up on by a supervisor. I have wasted 3 hours of my life on chat, having the same issues. Moving around from representative to representative to end up with a representative who just stopped responding and didn't come back until I mentioned a lawsuit and even then, he was completely incompetent. His name was Christian, and I have reported him to AT&T, but we all know what little that means. These companies tell you what you want to hear while telling the employee that it is nothing and to not worry. This company admitted that their system messed up and pulled the funds in error, put the money back in after hours of yelling at them and then turned around not even a month later, and pulled the money out again. AT&T is awful, and I would highly recommend staying away from them. They will steal your money and then take time out of your day, when you, yourself have a job to do. They read you a script and tell you they understand as if that helps to deescalate the issue. Well, that only works so many times before it sounds like a load of crap. I no longer buy the s**t that they are selling. Going to the store tomorrow and if the problem is not resolved, I will be going to a lawyer and suing AT&T. Plllllleeeease stay far away from them. They are scammers, frauds and lowlifes. I have canceled my card and reported them to my bank for fraud. Trust me when I say that I am trying to save you from this nightmare of a "company". Who can afford for these corporate pieces of crap to pull this s**t on a normal day, let alone right now with the current state of the world with gas and food prices?
I've been with AT&T since 2004 with five lines. I was very satisfied until late last year when we changed the plan. They added 1 too many lines & put my new phone installment on another line that I didn't ask for & has NEVER been used. I've been paying for 7 lines because they can't remove the line with my installment connected to it. Their reply was that I could change my phone #. That was the only solution. I've called so many times & been transferred to people who handle more complex problems. I've spoken to representatives on the phone for close to 2 hours several times. I've been hung up on, initially thinking we were disconnected. They know my # & could call back. In the beginning I went back to the store but they couldn't help either. I used to recommend AT&T but never would now.
Run as far and as fast as you possible can away from AT&T. Don't say you were not warned! Absolutely HORRENDOUS customer service. They disconnect you, then YOU HAVE TO CALL BACK?
No return call despite the fact that you gave them your call back number in case you are disconnected? Then, once they finally answer, you get to spend another 1/2 hour to 45 minutes RE-EXPLAINING EVERYTHING! They ask you questions and are typing things; supposedly documenting the call. However, when you call back, you get to reiterate everything you just did and said! What a complete and total waste of an individuals time and I would never ever recommend AT&T to anyone except my worst enemy! This is not the first episode with AT&T. If they document everything and you have order numbers, WHY, please tell me WHY do you need to provide all of that information over and over and over again. Don't they have ALL OF THAT INFORMATION by looking at the original order? Miffed? The incompetency in today's society is appalling!
June of 2022 I wrote of AT&T, very poor cell & home internet service. Since that time my cell service got no better, period. To the point that my family terminated our service and went to Verizon. I can truthfully say that my cell service improved a lot. Seldom do I loose a call now. With AT&T I lost calls regularly & as often as daily. Their tower is 3 to 4 hundred yards from my house. Go figure that. Cell phone internet service improved also with Verizon, not perfect but a very big improvement.
I still have AT&T home internet with very poor & slow service but my options in S.Texas are extremely limited.
I have called AT&T so many times it really hurts to think about it. People are always very nice but deliver no results. In a nut shell, I wasted a lot of my time for nothing. At one time an AT&T rep offered me a 10% reduction on my bill that month. I told him that was not a bargain for me since their service did not work way more than 10% of the time. Believe that upset him and I did not even get that. Ask your friends and neighbors before getting AT&T service to make sure the area you are in, will get you the service you are going to pay for.
Do not buy this service they lock you into a contract for two years and change your tv charge within six months and call them administrator fees these people are crooks
$#*! att worst customer service ever. I ve spent all weekend hours upon hours with some Indian call center bc att outsources there bull$#*! services. Trash. They care zero about there customers
I have been calling their service for years when the service was spotty, now my phone says no service when I'm at my house and they literally tried to get to purchase their Uverse when they couldn't help me! I have been a loyal AT&T customer for over 30 years and it doesn't matter, they literally do not care to help me at all. I live within 1 mile of 2 towers and those of us inbetween the towers are in a dead zone. When I call I'm told it's not their problem it's my problem. Changing providers and I DO NOT recommend AT&T!
Top-notch AMERICAN customer service reps. I love it when I can speak to an English-speaking rep and understand each other fully. I'm so tired of other companies using 3rd-party services for their customer rep teams and totally ruining the customer-to-business experience. Everything I wanted and needed help with was done fast and without question.
Answer: Terrible service, this is the worst service I've ever had. Canceled all services with this company after my customer service experience. Customer service is horrible, their service in general is horrible, and they don't offer anything I can't get at any other competitors store. I wouldn't recommend service or work with this company, they are discriminatory and bias. All they do is take advantage of you and try to sell you stuff that you don't need so they can raise their commission. If you want to be serviced by a bunch of dilettantes, this is the place for you, bad service, work, and experience, Joshua at legacy village has terrible customer service experience.
Answer: At this point I am so disgusted with a T and T your customer service skills are horrible they don't help you out they keep transferring you to different departments just to get you off the phone they do not like to resolve problems and promises that they made they do not keep their promises they get you into getting into their products and getting their commission and then they screw you out of what they promise you I do advise anybody to go through a TNT they are lousy
Answer: Because they never really will cancel your service! They overcharge you and when you finally get a hold of them they still refuse to help.
Answer: To answer your question, Simply there is no accountability at AT&T. They bounce you around and they make NO attempt for resolution.
Answer: I use to work for AT&T, they have gone from bad to worse to I don't give a damn, and that's a shame
Answer: That is just silly. He wldnt be a multi millionaire if his businesses were bad. You forget, everybody loved him till he announced he was conservative. Isn't it all the democratic mayor's and governor's states that are going to shit? Or would you rather take crime over parent choice?
