AT&T is one of the most dishonest and corrupt companies I've ever dealt with. I had Uverse service for years, simply because Comcast was the only alternative and was more expensive. I was overcharged by AT&T on average about every other month on my bill. It was always something different--they forgot I added a promotion, they charged me for extra receivers I didn't have, etc.--and the errors were always in their favor (what a surprise). So each time I'd have to call and waste 30+ minutes of my time straightening things out. I finally found a good deal with Comcast a couple of months ago, and cancelled AT&T. Incredibly, they've tried to bill me for both November and December, even though I disconnected with them on October 15. To add insult to injury, they claimed I wasn't due a refund even though I was paid up through October 24. These people are crooks, plain and simple.

I am a 28 year old homeowner, college grad, and disabled U. S Army veteran that had the unfortunate experience of signing up with AT&T Uverse and Wifi after my family had been customers for 20 years. They have since lost ALL of our business. Why? Because at day 1 of our contract thru the entire first month our service did not work. After 4. FOUR boxes it finally worked. We were patient. THEN, a bill for an unreturned box appeared for $168. This is when things really snowballed. This bill suddenly turned into $381... we called relentlessly to remedy this. One day, an agent by the name of Christian agreed to CREDIT (not reverse payment) our bill for the $381 for our CONSTANT troubles. I asked if this would EVER come back, and he assured us it would not. Well, this bill reappered for another month or so until we got sick of it and cancelled. NO ONE would help. During which we were assured we would not incur an early termination fee. Since then our bill has risen to over $700, to inlcude the missing box their technician 'lost" and a termination fee. Unbelievable, right? I have PERFECT credit and now I'm being harassed by collections. I reached out to the BBB and a man by the name of Timothy Amey from the Office of the President at At&T called me to discuss this matter. Not only did he refuse to fix the matter but he - like every other employee - straight up REFUSED to provide the audio transcripts of the phone conversation with his agent proving that he credited the bill. They are hiding the evidence of my claim since listening to it themselves. Timothy refused any responsibility after agreeing with me that it was wrong and had the NERVE to say that I needed to pay for the services I "enjoyed"... I didn't enjoy a single day Timothy, in fact it was all hell. Now this Christian kid still has a job while I take a hit to my perfect credit. Xfinity has since been a MILLION times better and more receptive. You've been warned people. Avoid taking a hit to your credit and the financial and mental angst that comes with At&t. Not a military friendly company WHATSOEVER.

This last summer I submitted a lost phone claim on my iPhone to Assurion, ATT phone insurer.
I received a replacement phone that was a refurb. It started to give me overheating messages almost right away. I notified Assurion and they sent me another phone.
I had insisted they send a me a new phone instead of a refurbished unit. I stated I didnt have time to continue to contact them and in the meantime not have any access to my ATT account. They sent me a refurbished unit anyway and that unit also had issues.
I sent both units back with an explanation that I wanted a full refund of my deductible.
I was told a credit would be coming through and would be reflected within two ATT statements.
I notified ATT of that fact, continued to pay my monthly phone bill after putting my account on a temporary hold. I informed them that I would not be paying the insurance portion of my bill as I was expecting a refund.
No refund was issued by Assurion. No crediting my account by ATT. ATT informed me that my bill was severely past due and they closed my account of 10 years.
I had receipts from the post office( free return and labels from Assurion) and was informed by the post office that the insurance companies Agent picked up the phone the next day Assurion has continued to claim that they never got the phone back until I gave them proof that it sent it to them, which they then claimed it wasnt returned in the time allowed.
I now have been contacted by a collection agency saying I owed@$160, the amount of the deductible I owed ATT through Assurion.
So, Assurion received two phones back, I had no access to my phone account for months, I am out $160 even though I do not have any replacement phone, and my credit is affected by this nonsense.
ATT knew the circumstances and did nothing. Assurion knew the circumstances and changed the reasons why they had no reason to fix the situation.
This is a small amount for them but it is a large factor that could result in damaging my credit. ATT can fix this by crediting my account and pulling back my bill from collections and then they can deal with Assurion. This is an unacceptable situation.

I've been paying AT&T's inflated prices for years. I finally decided to switch out but it looks like AT&T wants to keep billing me in perpetuity for a service I am not and will not ever be using. (I don't even know where the sim card is at.) I've been hung up on four times by the customer service representatives who do not return the "dropped" call. At this time I have spent four hours attempting to do what should be available on their website. I'm still stuck in their racket because the customer service center closed while I was waiting for an operator the last time. I will be boycotting AT&T forever along with my large extended family. Please go bankrupt soon. If you would like to ride around in my trunk for four hours and then give me 60$ to be let out I might call us even.

LIARS!
October 19, 2017

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Operators quote you prices, etc to get you locked in. Then when the bill comes and it's more than you were quoted they won't do anything about it! It's sad. I was with T-Mobile fpr years but had to switch because of service issues. Wow. Biggest mistake ever. If you are considering switching but haven't done it yet, DON'T DO IT. Way over priced and theybhave archaic upgrade practices. WORST PHONE COMPANY EVER. Very sad im stuck with them for TWO YEARS

Chose this one for being one of the most popular at the location I was at that moment. The service providers are more or less the same now as for me. Quite the same plans, the same amounts of services given etc. It works, it doesnt fail much - so thats okay for me.

After 20yrs as a loyal customer I have had enough, I asked to have my tablet shut off in Aug. Sales rep tried to give me a lesser charge I said no, next billing i was charged the lesser amount and the tablet was still active. Asked again to have it shut off and credit give. Tablet was not shut off until October and I was charged for sept billing and everyone I talked to at ATT refused to give me a refund for the two months. I quit ATT and I have filed a formal complaint with the State of Maine Customer Protection Bureau

On Oct of 2016 I walked into an att store and signed a 2 yr contract. I walked in there with 2 cellphones already. I had to give them one of my 2 month old Samsung Galaxy S6 Edges to get the " SIGN UP FOR 2 YRS AND GET A FREE S7 AND UNLIMITED EVERYTHING FOR $100" deal even though I paid a deposit of $100.
Turns out my first bill was over $200 and I called ASAP! They lowered my bill to the $163.00 I was to pay. A month later the bill was $180. Again I called and they said that those were taxes and other service fees they were charging. For the past 6 months my bill has been $186 and this month my bill was $228.00! Now they changed my contract saying that my phone service alone is $173.00 and the second phone is $55.00! Wtf? Now they offered me 6 gigs shared between 2 phones for $134.00 a month tomorrow I AM CANCELLING this bull$#*! and going back to BOOST where I was for 7 yrs and only paying $40 a month unlimited everything!
PLEASE PEOPLE DO NOT GO WITH ATT&T. THEY ARE THIEVES!

Escape AT&T
October 7, 2017

Have had a defective phone for months. My first attempt to get technical support at the store I bought it from found them shoving me off to some 800 number searching endlessly for a human. When I did go into a store the deductible was stupid. Decided to live with it. The phone recently got too bad to use. I wanted to interact with a human, weigh my options and decide on either a new phone or just file a claim. So I went to a store where they politely took my name and put me on a wait list. 30 minutes later when I was called the agent provided me my options and said my deductible would be 164.00. Then signed me into a website I could have gotten to at home. It said the deductible was 225.00. So I asked the rep which was right. He pretty much dialled the 800 number in the store and I found myself trying to navigate to a human to ask a question. Ahhh. I finally said to the store manager 'how do i get to speak to a human!'. He hit a few options on the 800 number and had me put into a call queue. The option for this was never presented to me by the bot. When I finally got a human she put me on hold and then forwarded me to another queue for the insurance provider after I asked about the deductible and she did not know. Finally I got taken off hold and told that my deductible was actually reduced by 50%. Good news eh? 112.50. Had i filed the claim online they would have charged me double. Neither the manager in the store, the sales rep nor the insurance rep acted like they gave a damn about the inconvenience or the pooooor customer support. At one point I said 'this is horrible' to the rep. 'I feel ya was the response. This is not the first horrible experience with this company since I switched. If you care about being treated like you're the source of their income and appreciated this company is NOT for you. Run away screaming. My wife and I are switching services as soon as feasible.

Diane in Las Vegas
October 4, 2017

After weeks of trying every support option, chat, phone, in store and twitter I was most fortunate to reach Diane in Las Vegas to fix the problem of having two plans for my one iPad. She was fabulous! Credits my account for over charging, troubleshooting the issue, adding notes for the mobility group on how to fix the problem... Diane is AWESOME! - Mike in Eastlake Ohio

TERRIBLE. STAY AWAY!
October 1, 2017

Their customer service was atrocious. I've spent countless hours speaking to supervisors and even executives trying to get my money back because I was charged on months that I never even used and double charged my cancellation fee of $250 even though I AT&T and DirectTV are sister companies! It's ridiculous. STAY AWAY FROM AT&T AT ALL COSTS!

Well... At&T gets the award for having the worst customer service ever. I want everyone to understand I have been an AT&T customer for more then 40 years. In fact, I have never change. I was the first person I know to have a cell phone. It was prior to bag phone, you had to have it installed in your car and rates were $1.20 per minute(rounded up) and installation in those days was $550. I am not exaggerating I know over the years I have spent more then $50,000 with them. My current base bill is $305 per month however there has been several months my bill was over $700 due to my teanage girls data usage.

Getting to the point... last week my two year contract was over and I dropped two lines expecting my bill to go down. It actually went up $46.25, nothing has change except an additional 23 dollars and change on the lines I dropped. No my contract is up it is not that either. I know you may think something else is wrong but no I have rollover data 9 gigs in the bank. I sat on hold for 14 minutes give passwords and all the other bull you have to go through to talk to someone. The customer service person assured me she would get to the bottom of it. Well while talking to her the call was dropped. Do you think having my billing information up my phone number showing she called me back NO WAY tough $#*! on me. Well Hello Verizon?. Any recommendations on phone service?

The ATT website clearly states that customers are billed for service a month in advance. I paid my bill on 9/4/17 before it was even posted online. It is normally due around the 21st of the month. Their site indicated that I had a credit (negative balance) because I paid it so early. My college child's phone was not working properly, and when she came home on 9/9/17, we went into an att office to look into getting a new phone for her. I had just paid off the two phones on the account with the last payment and had been paying insurance on the phones. The att rep was not helpful and recommended we wait a month or two for the prices of phones to drop. When your child is away at college you don't wait a month for them to have a working phone! Idiot att rep!,, Did I mention I've been with att for +10 years. I left and went to Verizon and switched that day with new phones and less per month that what I was paying att. Now att says they will not refund any of my payment even though I used their service for only one week of the month paid in advance. They keep saying that what is written on the website is confusing. Ha! I have three college degrees and can read very well, in fact I'm a teacher, and the website is not confusing to me at all. Att is going to try and steal $100+ from me and then charge me even more for the one week I used their service. This is not honest business practice. They might steal it but not w/o a fight from me, and I won't be paying then another cent. BBB will be getting a complaint from me. Take my advise and stay away from this group of thieves!

So basically at AT&T.com you have access to lots of stuff. One reason is that you can chat with the agents that work there and they are really nice. Second reason you have lots of choices and they are cheap than some companies.
