We've all read the news articles about guys who "went undercover" at Ashley Madison looking to score. If you want to score, you can get a hooker for that price. Just saying. And without months of waiting. Ashley Madison is exactly as the majority people here describe it: a scam. But if you need to find out for y ourself, here is some advice for newcomers.

1) You must sign up for full membership. It will cost you $40 on the low end. This is the only true way to test the waters. It's a gamble. If you spend $300, youre just putting more chips on the table. Doesn't mean youre going to win.

2) Never accept a "collect message". This is a scam.

3) Always UNCLICK the Send as Priority tab or your message will cost you double the price.

4) Do add plenty of headshot photos to your private gallery, send winks with private key. Notice how one or two will respond immediately, even though they are off line. Write to them, get charged your 10 cents or so, and watch how they never respond back.

5) Do not waste time in chat. Its a credit suck.

6) Spend your credits wisely. When they run out, you will be bombarded with winks and new photo requests. Then, delete the account.

And no, Adult Friend Finder is no better. It's all cam girls.

If you want to find a $#*! buddy, go to Backpage or go to a strip club, wave $300 in her face, and she'll be your $#*! buddy. Good luck.

I have been on AM for a few years and had mixed results. I have been contacted by women supposedly looking for an affair as well as a few prostitutes looking for fast $$$$. Of the "legit" women a few of them admitted to being paid by AM to contact men - especially for the "Traveling Man" option which costs more money. I have also notices an increase in fake profiles. Also, what is up with the $20 cancellation fee? To me, Ashley Madison is a glorified escort service. Then women you meet are nice, but not very attractive. I will just be letting my credits run out and I will be DONE.

Can't figure this site out. I have met probably 10 women on here and met all of them including one fairly significant affair with a wonderful woman. That being said, I have found a huge increase in fake profiles. Recently a few nice responses and wham profile taken down. Some also just don't respond. It just seems like a real trend and I suspect the owner has just gotten more and more greedy. Since women are not charged, it is all based on ripping off men.

Cant say whether its a scam or not but totally not for me and feel ripped off.

Really thought about it before I signed up and eventually gave it a try. So I just created a profile and didn't buy any credits for at least a week. Just observing I was receiving on average about 3-4 hits a day with a variety of ladies showing interest. But you cant see their message unless you buy credits.

Now with 10+ women waiting in the wings what man could resist.

Well this fool couldn't so I bought the basic package, after whats $89. Its been a week and everything totally stopped the day I bought credits how coincidental was that.

In my opinion and as one reviewer said if your in shape and look better than average then you have a chance but average will not do it and if your in that bracket save your pennies boys. Like most things in life its just another get rich on peoples hope scam.

$89 out of pocket and I still have 85 credits left who wants them happy to pass them on for free.

I am a woman, so my experience is very different than the men on AM, but I think if you ask the 3 men I am currently having affairs with, they would give AM a pretty high rating too! It is free for women, so I had nothing to lose. Yes, I was only on the website for 10 days, having been inundated with over 500 winks, emails and pics in that period of time. Of these I maybe responded to 20, met 12 (NO SEX was involved at this point) and ended up with my final 3 picks. (They were all such great guys I couldn't just choose one!) The competition is extremely fierce, so put on your best face, and be on your best behavior. If you do the math I chose the top. 06% of all the men who contacted me! BTW, I hear the complaint that all the woman are overweight on this site... I am 50, very fit and wear size 4 jeans, so I know that that is not true. I am attractive, but no beauty queen. Don't expect to find a super-model on this site... they have dates already and don't need to be on-line! Keep your expectations reasonable.

Here's what NOT to do if you want to be successful on this site:
1. Send penis pics or have shirtless selfies taken in a bathroom mirror. (All these were immediately deleted along with any winks, emails associated with the user!)
2. Send a 1 sentence "hi there" message- I responded to men who sent thoughtful, informative, funny and/or interesting emails that DID NOT immediately solicit sex from me.
3. Don't bother to read her profile to see if your wants/needs actually match. I wrote a very clear description of the situation I was looking for (long-term, not a one-night stand), and made my sexual preferences clear. If you are looking for BDSM, DO NOT expect a response from a woman who says she like to cuddle! Duh!
4. Expect to just meet and jump in the sack. This site is for people looking for "affairs", which I believe entails getting to know someone, and actually enjoying their company and treating them with respect and kindness. If you want a quick hook-up join Tinder.
5. Expect to find some hot, bored 25 year-old housewife wanting to bone you day and night. We are real women. I just happen to be single, but all my lovers are married and younger. I get NO complaints about my age. Have realistic expectations, and widen your age criteria. You'd be surprised at how many of us "older" woman have it going on!

I had no idea what to expect when I signed up, and all my expectations were exceeded. I think my guys might say the same thing...

I am disgusted by what a TOTAL SCAM this site is. I'm a fairly attractive man, never had a problem getting laid but wanted to go on a site that not everyone else was on. The profiles are ALMOST ALL FAKE. They work for AM, they won't give you their number so you have to keep messaging them and keep buying credits. One girl suddenly told me she moved to Portland, and said she KNOWS she told me she was moving... well i looked at all my messages and, of course, she never did. After 2 months, the last girl actually gave me her number, agreed to meet me, said she was on her way driving to come over... she never arrived, never answered my text, and THEN DELETED HER PROFILE 2 HOURS LATER!... If anyone wants to sue this company for making false claims, i'm ALL IN... PEOPLE, THIS SITE IS A LIE!, IS A FAKE!, IS A TOTAL SCAM!... DO NOT JOIN, DO NOT GIVE THIS SCAM ARTIST A DIME OF YOUR MONEY AND MAKE THE MISTAKE I DID!

As one person said earlier it's all about being in shape, well groomed and considerate. You figure women are receiving 20 or more messages per day and guys 0. So the competition is fierce. I am 57 and have been on here for 5 years. I have met around 25 women and slept with about 20 from ages of 35 to 55. Most end up being one night stands because it is so difficult to find the right chemistry or coordinate schedules. My biggest issue is women having facial pictures and saying they weigh 130 lbs and in reality more like 170 lbs. I have heard many stories from women being disappointed that what the see is not what shows up. Best thing is to keep distance reasonable, be in shape, have current photos and be sincere.

The biggest scam on the internet. This site have about 95% of fake profiles created by asheley madison people so you think that u are actually communicating with a real person. BE CAREFUL they will also send u an email address to communicate with them, its fake, you are wasting your money. And beside lets face it a married women who is looking for sex, doesn't have to go on a web site, all she has to do is look around her and choose.
Their charge system is a big scam and they are way over priced. This site is not worth a dollar.

After spending a bunch of credits responding to women who had no pics, but private galleries they (sometimes) opened, I thought to look for matching pics using Google Image search. I found the 46yr old woman's pic, supposedly from Roseville, Ca listed on Craigs List as a 23yr old escort in SanDiego 500 miles away.

I've met some nice women on AM, but they contacted me, I didn't have to burn a lot of credits chasing them around.

As for the IM feature, just turn it off. It's just full of fake members from NY, NY who want you to blow a whole load of credits on their fake blather.

Lots of people complaining about scammers on here...

You just need to be on the site long enough to see the BS and weed your way through it.

Stay away from the profiles that...

1. Have an actual photo for the whole world to see. Any married woman seeing a fling should be discreet. So one that post here face publicly is probably a scam.

2. Have no photos whatsoever listed in their "private showcase". Either a scammer or not serious.

3. Does not write up what they are looking for in their own words. When you fill out a profile you can check a bunch of boxes and write free form what you are looking for. If a woman does not take the time to write something in their own words then she is probably a scammer or not serious.

Simply DO NOT pursue and spend credits on any profile like I've mentioned above and you will at least be in the ballpark now.

And... follow these rules as well when you create your own profile.

Does not mean you are going to get responses though... that is all still personally up to who you are seeking.

I've personally had mixed results here... but indeed met some very nice ladies looking for exactly what I was looking for.
