I googled Care for aging parents. Thank goodness I immediately received a call from Tracy with "A place for mom". A true God send. Tracy immediately reassured me help was forthcoming.
Further calls to Tracy proved fruitful as we set up a plan for getting my parents from Florida to Texas.
Today my parents are settled in a safe comfortable loving place, thanks to "A Place For Mom". With the aging of America baby boomers coming to senior ages "A Place For Mom" is essential for placing loved ones in independent, assisted or total care facilities where they are sure to thrive. Thank you Tracy.
A Place for Mom helped guide us to the best care options for my mother-in-law. They saved us lots of time wandering aimlessly in the wilderness when it came time to find a memory care/assisted living facility for her. We interviewed and visited the five sites that were recommended and settled on what seems to be a great fit. They were conscientious and helpful throughout the process, following up frequently to make sure we were making progress.
Some reviews seem to mistakenly confuse the finding process with the care facility. And of course they have a network of facilities. That's what a networking agency does. In fact, APFM was very interested in feedback regarding our experience with the facilities. We did not receive unsolicited calls from anyone not on our list and the calls we did receive were helpful, full of good advice, and respectful of our time. Exactly what we needed when we needed it. The recommended facilities also followed up diligently, something that some might consider intrusive but, again, we needed them to be proactive while our world was so chaotic and demanding.
All in all, while it may not be the best resource for everyone, it is a well-intentioned organization that provided a good experience for us and that is something we desperately needed during a time when so many things were difficult and challenging. MIL is now in a superb facility, stress is decreasing, and we feel confident things are going to be better from here out.
Bill, thank you so much for sharing your positive experience with A Place For Mom! We are happy to hear about the proactive, helpful service you received. So glad we were able to assist you with finding a great community for your Mother In-Law.
The information that I received helped my Mother and myself to make an educated and informed choice for her future residence.
Thank you for the feedback and we are so happy we could help you out!
Atria was getting too expensive. I looked at Brookdale and my dad moved over there. Never talked to you or had anything to do with you. Why are you trying to take credit for his move? How did you even know he moved? Are we on some kind of tracking list we don't know about and if so please take us off it.
Hi Phil - It is likely that your Senior Living Advisor included Brookdale in the original list of 3-6 Senior Living options that were sent to you. Families are not contractually obligated to use our service nor do they pay any fees for our service and they are free and welcome to do their own search, work with another referral service while they work with us, and/or stop working with us at any time. Please reach out to your Senior Living Advisor or contact us at [email protected] for further assistance.
I had a counselor who was a great help to my family and me in finding an asissted living for both of my parents. So thankful for their help!
I was reluctant to give my email and phone number to the website at first but feeling desperate, having had already searched and searched for places to fit my needs, I just answered the questions and went with it. Within minutes, I was contacted by phone and the lady who called me was so helpful, warm and not pushy in any kind of way. She got me exactly what I needed. Within 20 minutes, I was at the first location, and then was able to go to 5 locations in 1 day. I highly recommend this method to help with your family.
A Place for mom is not there to help you, they are there to help their network of facilities.
I had a horrible experience with the agency and ended up having to do everything they claimed to be willing to help with on my own.
Upon contacting them, they released all of my personal contact information to scores of facilities.
I was inundated with hundreds of email, phone calls and mail adverts. My contact only contacted me after our initial conversation long after I had figured it out myself.
This service is not there to do anything other than feed their network of facilities. They did not provide what they claimed to offer and left me and my family to handle it on our own.
They are a "free" service and they should be because they offer nothing. Do not waste your time with these people.
They prey on people in their most vulnerable moments to feed their corporate facility networks, who are in fact who funds their "Free Service".

I was told that I would get one free month, but it turned out that the first month was going to be used to update the room. My understanding was we would get two or three weeks of free rent, but it did not work that way. It took them the full month to get the room ready, and it still not ready, the shower safety bar and a lock to the front door is not installed I did sign a contract and I don't know what the contract said, I did not get a copy. As for as moving in I am still undecided, I paid the rent for Oct.(as required) and have turned in the 30 day move out notice. It does seem like residents are treated good and it would be a good place ti live.
I feel we were not treated right, so now there is no trust in what they say.
Hi Jerry - We're sorry to hear the community move-in process has not met your expectations. Please share your feedback directly with the community so they can address your concerns or contact your Senior Living Advisor who can escalate if necessary.
We were given at least 4 different places to interview for my mother and brother. They instantly fell in love with Country Club Village in Hot Springs. Rose with A Place for Mom kept in touch throughout the transitions and moves and was there all the way making sure we had all the help we needed. Can't say enough good things about A Place for Mom or Country Club Village with all the help each offered and gave to make our family's transition very smooth.
Adam called within minutes. He was on top of what I needed. Very responsive and gave me great places to call. He followed up each week. Very impressive. I recommend A Place for Mom to anyone looking for information for their loved one. This organization is very good.
You helped me find a place for my husband when it seemed no one else would. It helped me see a way out of a difficult situation when there seemed no way. Thank you.
A Place for Mom found us a place when the movers were coming and our plans fell through. This should have been my first call - would have saved me so much time. I tell everyone to use this service!
Deciding to put a loved one in assisted living can be very traumatic. I was looking for a place for my 93 year old father that had just started showing signs on memory loss and dementia. He was in an independent living community, bu I realized after his last fall that he needed a little more attention. Kimberly, from A Place for Mom, was very helpful in giving me 5 places to start with and recommendations on what to look for. I found a great place, just 6 miles from my house. A Place for Mom took a lot of the guess work out of finding a place that is good for my dad in his final years. He's closer to me and I feel like he's safe.
Thank you, Kimberly, I will definitely recommend APFM if anyone is looking for help.
Working with 'A Place for Mom' was easy and straight forward. Using the references and suggestion sites, we were able to identify a place and begin the process of the move. Unfortunately, our Parent passed-away the day she was suppose to move into the new residence.
Everyone was very understanding and kind during our difficult time.
We are very pleased with how much help we received from Claudia and all the staff. Please give a place for Mom a call today to help with all that you well be up to face in caring for your love one/once!
I contacted A Place For Mom and an advisor (Mary Noack) responded right away with three good leads that fit our (very tight) budget; each of the facilities also contacted me proactively and we had our placement figured out in a matter of days. Mary Noack did an excellent job following up with me and making sure all my questions were answered. I would give 5 stars if there was information provided about Medicaid; it's clear that AFPM-recommended facilities are largely private-pay. We can make this work for now, but if my mother's care needs exceed her budget and we need to go the Medicaid Waiver route, APFM will not be much help.
Rapid response, appropriate filters to target facilities, some appointments set up, then used the app to set up more. We found a great place which was exactly what we were looking for. The first advisor changed jobs, but her replacement emailed very soon after and checked on our progress. She sent a notification to the places we visited to tell them of our final choice and thank them for the tours.
I used this service for my Mom about 4 years ago, good service, but I found a place on my own due to need for a specific location.
My only frustration is the continued contact after the decision was made (emails).
Cindy was amazing she helped us over a six month period. As we made the adjustment for dad to be in assisted living. We we felt overwhelmed she was there to talk to and help guide us. We really couldn't have asked for a better advisor.
I was afraid using This service would be inviting sales people to pester me but it was anything but that. The service was so helpful educating me about what my expectations should be. They even had a check sheet to evaluate different facilities. I can't recom A Place For Mom enough
One of the most cold hearted, money-grabbing companies I have ever had to deal with.
If you ever call them for ANY reason of ANY kind, they now own you and everyone in your family and will legally go after any commission they can snag off your loved ones banks. Any time someone in your family moves into any senior housing or assisted living, they will claim them for literally thousands of dollars of commission each time they move until the day they die. Their entire structure is built of of 100% commission regardless of how much they have helped you or not. This is why many assisted living facilities have rejected them and dont use them anymore. They claim to care for seniors, but literally just claim a stake in their moves. I have talked to dozens of them and I'm sad to report that i have yet to find a single one of them that care about seniors more than money. Management is the worst as they are so money oriented. Each time your loved ones move they claim upwards of 95% of youd lived ones rent, which means the place thst is actually carrying for your loved one is losing money for the first 70-90 days your loved one lives at their new home.
Many people unintentionally use their services because they will Google the location of homes and not know they are clicking on A Place For Mom website. They are set up as predators. They will even claim to be the location you are seeking and not their own company.
I would advise to stay far away from them as any good and honest and reputable assisted living communities will NOT use them, which means they will steer YOU away from all the good ones unbeknownst to you.
Hi Sheridan - we're sorry to hear you feel this way. We share a common vision with our customers: we all want what’s best for seniors. We aim to provide families with the knowledge and confidence to allow them to move forward with good choices for aging family members. A Place for Mom has more than 18,500 partners that span a wide range of care types and price points. We aim to add value to our partners by helping them market their community and connect with families that are a good match. Our service helps introduce providers to families and families to providers. These interactions would likely not take place without A Place for Mom making the connections. A service like A Place for Mom (APFM) can be a valuable resource for families navigating the complexities of senior care options. APFM is paid by our participating providers and communities (not families), which enables us to offer families a cost-free service. We prohibit any participating community/provider from passing through our fees to the consumer, charging additional amounts because the consumer used our services, or withholding discounts from the consumer.

Answer: In the Greater Louisville (Kentuckianna) metro area there are several I can recommend you consider based on our tour of recommended facilities in Southern Indiana. As residents of Southern Indiana, just across the river from Louisville, we chose Silvercrest in New Albany Indiana. They offer independent living in freestanding apartments as well as assisted living and also more complete care for those needing it. We also really liked Traditions at Hunters' Station in Sellersburg which has identical options, and Bennett House in Clarksville, which offers assisted living and additional services but does not have independent living. Some of these do have limited Medicaid beds in their nursing facilities.

Thanks so much for sharing your positive experience. We are so glad Tracy was able to help you and your family out!
