It's difficult to escape doing business with Amazon. Prices are normally very good and as a Prime customer delivery times are around two day's to a one week. Still, on occasion, I can purchase a used item for less than Amazon. Sometimes, Amazon messes up on delivery times. This is when I cancel an order and go elsewhere. Also, on occasion, Amazon actually avoids certain books for (Political?) reasons. Some authors will avoid Amazon for their own specific reasons as well. That is when I will choose Alibris.
It's good to have an alternative to Amazon. Most of the times the prices are better too.
