I feel that all of the people posting negative reviews of ALEKS do not appreciate how useful ALEKS really is. First of all, the purpose of ALEKS is not to help students learn (research has shown that students would learn more by playing Minecraft in class than by using ALEKS). The real purpose behind ALEKS is to give parents the feeling that their children have learned something when they actually haven't. Whenever a student "masters" or "learns" something on ALEKS, they never really learn it. In fact, they forget it in a matter of hours. But of course, that's not the point. For its original purpose, ALEKS works perfectly.

As a teacher, I cannot express in words how helpful ALEKS has been to me. This program was such a useful tool for my students! Instead of having to spend time and effort to teach, all I have to do is give my students this website. Now I no longer have to try and pretend like I understand what I am teaching.

There is nothing more i hate than this website, im nearly done using it for school but after just one semester my anxiety surrounding it was so severe my mom made me go back into therapy.

Ive been out of therapy for over a year.

Literally every time i even think about working on it i have a breakdown, i would have a B in math at the least had aleks not existed, but since it does I have a C and it just keeps falling, even my teacher hates it but we have to do it since the school paid money for it.

If youre a teacher or parent and are considering subjecting your child to the torture that is this website, don't do it, it's actually child abuse.

Aleks is the worst experience of my life. I used to love chem but this $#*! completely ruined it for me. Its a huge pain sitting for hours redoing topics because of stupid $#*! like significant digits. Every time you get one wrong you have to redo a ton... I hate aleks ruined my college experience terrible program. Just frustrating and a huge waste of time.

I have a daughter who is on her 3rd year of alex the has already done algerbra 1 in 9th grade Algerbra 2 in 10th grade and she is going geometry now as of march 31st she has mastered 149 topics out of 202. The math teacher put on her report card " using ALEKS program at home less than the required amount of time." she has a 98.38 grade point average and she is on task with this program. Is that a fair statement to be writing on a report card from this program

Aleks gives you the worst explanations and doesn't help you by giving you knoweledge checks that don't even tell you if you got the question right or not! Aleks is a waste of time and I don't know why they make students use them in schools! Again, knoweledge checks leave you wondering if you got the question right, so you don't know what you need to improve on! I hate Aleks and you should, too! Thank you for listening, and don't forget, "Aleks is stupid!"

Frequently gives vague or even skips steps. Also one small mistake resets your topic progress. Can't think of a slower way to learn math

As a 9th grader who's been using ALEKS since 6th grade, I have to say that it is a horrible program. I'm working hours and hours on problems. The knowledge checks they give are also incredibly stupid! When you get one of them wrong, it adds to the massive amount of problems you need done. Giving you MORE problems! It is very stressful. If I can already go back and review older topics, why do I need the knowledge check to just give me more work? Also when you get a problem wrong in ALEKS it takes away the ones you've done right and you're forced to start over. I hope the creators of ALEKS see this and know that I sincerely hate their program, and do not encourage others to use it.
