My teacher is obsessed with making us do topics. I thought the program was fun until she was really controllable about it. I dont enjoy that the program doest target exactly what a student is doing in class, it just throws random topics at you and expects you to understand it.
Reward system was very effective. Aleks was so very excruciatingly painful that I felt the need to complete it. And I did. So I guess it worked. Pain has been inflicted on me so that's zero stars. But one extra star for an effective reward system.
Bro this is the worst my friends have other subjects and have way ezer than me also it is just the worst and bruh it just no just no
Pro: You get it done fast
Cons:
You don't learn anything
You hate yourself while doing it
The explanations are useless
You don't retain the information
It teaches you to hate red
Knowledge checks suck
THIS GARBAGE WEBSITE CAN BURN IN A FIERY PIT AND DIE
This app is utter garbage shoulden't exist $#*!ty UI and just un satisfying just don't but and not to mention hella expensive $#*! this app
Sucks. Trash. Losing brain cells. Literally get 100 on about every test/quiz and my grade is still a b-. Guess why.@*#&^# aleks. My teachers a clown for making us do this. Wish 0 star was a thing.
This program is complete trash and i believe most teachers have even attempted to test it out. The math teacher gives 40+ topics a week, each topic can have between 3 and infinity problems because for some reason getting one wrong moves your progress backwards instead of just letting retry the problem. All and all this program wastes more time punishing you then educating you.
This website is an actual piece of $#*!. I hate it so much. This si literal $#*!ing mental torture, whoever invented this website I hope you $#*!ing choke. You're actually hitler, why would you make something so good awful? Kindly, die in a ditch
I hate aleks and it is a horrible website for trying to teach students things (math, geometry, statistics, etc.) and is a horrible excuse for a learning website. There are many faults and it seems that it needs a makeover immediately, for example, there needs to be an incentive for people to learn, there needs to be a way to see what topic you're on out of a certain amount of topics without exiting the lessons, there needs to be better explanations if someone doesn't understand something, and finally, tell what someone got wrong! If I got something wrong, tell me what it is! People despise this website and is a waste of money, some teachers just assign aleks to their students so they don't have to teach and do their job like they're supposed to do. Some people harm themselves over aleks and it causes depression, anxiety, and stress in many people. I am a student and I hate aleks, it makes me feel horrible about myself and I struggle with depression already and I beat myself up just over a math topic.
Made me wanna kill myself terrible site causes nothing but pain and the only pain I just wanna die every time my teacher tells me to do ALEKS like really just wanna die she really made ALEKS a test grade really just about to commit suicide when i get home really just wanna dies 7 times in a row I did all my easy topics bro like what the hell I'm just bout to die really bout to kill myself ALEKS just claimed another body giving me all these hard-$#*! topics i wish I was stupid I'm bout to tarnish my kd in every game I have bout to rock a 0.01 kd in Apex Legends COD and Fortnite just bout to play with bots every day that's what I feel like really just about to die
Trash I need 100 chacters soooo... cookies recipe 1 cup salted butter* softened
1 cup white (granulated) sugar
1 cup light brown sugar packed
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp sea salt***
2 cups chocolate chips (or chunks, or chopped chocolate)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.
In a separate bowl mix flour, baking soda, salt, baking powder. Set aside.
Cream together butter and sugars until combined.
Beat in eggs and vanilla until fluffy.
Mix in the dry ingredients until combined.
Add 12 oz package of chocolate chips and mix well.
Roll 2-3 TBS (depending on how large you like your cookies) of dough at a time into balls and place them evenly spaced on your prepared cookie sheets. (alternately, use a small cookie scoop to make your cookies).
Bake in preheated oven for approximately 8-10 minutes. Take them out when they are just BARELY starting to turn brown.
Let them sit on the baking pan for 2 minutes before removing to cooling rack.
When you remove the cookies from the oven they will still look doughy. THIS is the secret that makes these cookies so absolutely amazing! Please, I beg you, do NOT overbake!
**Butter. I use Kirkland Brand Salted Butter from Costco to make these cookies. I have also used Tillamook salted butter with equally excellent results. Unsalted butter would also be great. I just recommend tasting the dough to ensure that it's salted to your liking.
***Some people have said they think the cookies are too salty. Please be sure to use natural Sea Salt (not iodized table salt). If you are concerned about saltiness start with 1/2 tsp salt and adjust to your tastes. I always make it with salted butter and 1 tsp sea salt.
**Recipe information calculated based on this recipe making 36 cookies - 2 TBS of dough a piece)
All-purpose flour: Many readers have used gluten-free all-purpose flour with excellent results.
Aleks is such crap. In fact, I'm supposed to be doing it right now. First of all, ALEKS doesn't teach you anything! It gives VERY BRIEF instructions on how to do the topic. AND it glitches so much. SO. MUCH. Like sometimes it'll say my answer is incorrect, so I press "explanation" just so I can try another problem, but the answer IS LITERALLY THE ANSWER I PUT. I have to do 30 topics a week for my class, which means pulling all-nighters for 5 days. Seriously, it takes that long. All in all. ALEKS IS SUCH SH*T. If a teacher sees this, please don't make your students do ALEKS. Please.
My school district forces us to complete the ALEKS pie chart and it causes nothing but stress! It has nothing to do with the lessons we are learning in class and is in general a time waster that is just used to stress out students.
I've had to use ALEKS, and it is extremely frustrating to use most of the time.
How it sees the user as 'learning' is inherently flawed. When you work on a topic, you need to get a certain amount of questions correct to progress. When you get a question right, you gain points and if you get multiple questions in a row correct, you get double the points. I wouldn't have many issues with this if it weren't for one fatal flaw: it takes away points when you get something wrong. The website punishes you for not understanding a question or making an error. To make matters worse, it doesn't tell you immediately what you specifically did wrong; it simply tells you you were wrong. You do have the option for an explanation, but it has nothing to do with your performance or what you did specifically. Of course, when you get all the points needed to progress, the website believes you have learned that topic and moves on. How much you've actually learned doesn't matter, but how many questions you get right does.
ALEKS also has a tendency to explain the topics it wants you to learn poorly. You're usually only given one (or two, on the rare occasion) way to go about solving a problem. If that particular way is confusing or inefficient for you, ALEKS doesn't do much else to help you. Sometimes its explanations are confusing in of itself, usually vague or only applying to one particular kind of problem that they may or may not give you. On many occasions, I've had to go to outside resources to properly understand what I'm supposed to be learning.
Another issue is that when you get a topic wrong one too many times, it tells you to stop and take a break and gives you another topic to try. The problem with that is if you only have so many topics, and you have trouble with all of them, you'll end up in a loop of failure over and over again. Apparently other people have had this issue as well. It's not as frequent as the other ones, but this one frustrates me to no end.
I'm sure the developers and everyone who works on ALEKS has good intentions, but this website does not encourage users like they think it does. It frustrates, it confuses, and it hardly does anything to actually help you learn math. I started online school a while ago and while I'm glad I don't have to deal with public school, ALEKS has me yearning for the days of a physical classroom.
This website is absolute trash. It does not teach you at all and the problems make no sense. Each topic takes 15-30 min to do and Aleks will erase points for incorrect answers when they are actually correct. The biggest waste of time of my life and it did not help me learn one thing about chemistry at all. Idk who the hell made this website but it is a piece of garbage. Will tell you your answer is wrong when it is in fact correct, it doesnt know how to do sig figs, half the time it wants it written one way and half the time it wants it written the other but it doesnt tell you which way. If you get one thing wrong it will take off like 3 points. I hate this app it makes me want to die.
I was forced to go into ALEKS to do math. They explain terribly and I spent hours trying to get it right but the explanation was terrible and I was frustrated and wanted to give up on it. This deserves 0 stars.
This is the reason i have a b in math and I will never forgive this rancid program for that. It wouldn't be good even if it was free. Should be considered cruel and unusual punishment.
I like chicken nuggets and this is trash waste of my money. This has not been any help and i hoped my kid would be smarter but it seems as if he's dumber im going to leave him and his mother.
I'd much rather sit and watch a documentary of grass growing narrated by Ned Flanders than have to do a single more knowledge check from Aleks. In the name of all the disgraced souls that have spent hours trying to see how long it takes to put their head through a wall rather than have to do Aleks, please kill this website. Out of 181 websites reviewed, this website comes out 181st. The insanity needs to stop. Whatever professor that reads this and still chooses Aleks is choosing a long, hard, arduous and sufferable road for their students, and a painful cliff dive in amiability for their reputation.
Answer: Because the ALEKS program is literal hell and we people are just showing our hatred for it
Answer: Most likely.
Answer: Yes deal with it
Answer: Because people want to commit suicide in an original way, and ALEKS is the best way.
Answer: I don't think so but believe me a class action suit would be an improvement
Answer: I paid over $150 for this sumbi**h, I expect it to work
Answer: No i do not think the website owner has issued one but I think the feelings for aleks would be "down the toilet"
Answer: I realize this reply is very late but in case for anyone who needs it: -Let's say you're learning how to use long division. They have 3 questions in it. You master the first one, then go on to the next one. You get the second one wrong, guess what? They punish you and take back your first answer so now you have to answer it again. -How fun! And don't forget the useless knowledge checks!
