It has its upsides of being a program that teaches math but that's why we have teachers, to teach, teachers shouldn't get paid to put some assignment on a students Aleks page with little teaching, its very unintuitive in that regard. I as a junior have used and struggled with this site for years. McGraw hill in its entirety doesnt care about the students, there have been so many questions I have seen on aleks alone (not to mention the other platforms they have that my friends are forced to use) that are literally impossible, either that or they are solved in a way that nobody is taught and wont accept any other way of solving.
Its practilly an add trap adds everything you can't even do a lesson its menshiper menshiper don't'get!
If I could give this a zero, I would. I have to use ALEKS for my online college pre-calc class. It has infuriated me more than helped me learn anything at all. Math is a tough subject. You get punished for getting answers wrong and it takes your "points" so you have to start all over again until you get multiple questions right in a row. I understand not moving on until you get the questions right, but taking the points away? That's not okay. I don't need this math class, I'm only taking it because it's a requirement for my major. I need a C to pass and I'm cutting it very close. I have multiple topics I have to complete per week and it's exhausting. I've already made a note of it in my professor's class survey (not his fault). At one point I've spent hours on some questions because I cannot move on to the locked topics until I've completed the ones before it. Makes no sense and I think that feature needs to be removed entirely. It's very discouraging and extremely frustrating. Especially because ALEKS has terrible explanations on how to get the correct answer. AND if you keep getting questions wrong, you then have to get 5 right in a row instead of 3.
I have to use ALEKS for my precalc class and it has induced so much rage from me it's ridiculous. The fact that it detracts progress every time you get a problem wrong is not only frustrating, but intentionally so, which is bad design. I cannot express, with every word in the English lexicon, how much fury burns in every fiber of my being every time I use it. Every little typo or tired mistake wastes more and more of my time, for which I can confirm that ALEKS is the most unforgiving, anger-inducing, stress-building piece of garbage I've ever used for homework in my life. But it's automated and *technically* works, so that's a star's work. Yay.
This program makes me rage more than anything else I've ever encountered in my life. Being forced to do this for school is literal torture. Everyone who helped make this program and dumbass teachers who assign this program to their students all deserves to burn in hell for them torment they put students through
Thus site is awesome I have learned so much on aleks and I love the alien ufo game but besides games this website is super helpful # aleks for life
Aleks is actual $#*! you are forced to do 10 a week when you could be doing something more fun that still involves math too (i. E.: baking a cake, making something) and not lose your sanity and will to live
My prof doesn't want to teach so she's making us learn through this god awful website. Literally punishes you for wanting an explanation and their explanations are $#*!ing awful. Even confused my tutor. Unless you already know how to do math avoid at all costs.
Im about to retake my math class for a third time because of this $#*!ty website. It is god awful. It does not help you whatsoever, punishes you HARD for learning things and getting questions wrong, and explains things in the worst possible ways leaving me more clueless than i was before. I cannot describe to you how much i hate this site.
Why is aleks so bad it dose not help people and when my friend Zach did it he hated it I don't want to see this type of thing again.
This is by far the worst learning website I have ever used. I am forced to use this for class, and it's almost like this website wants you to fail. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND to anybody. For the sake of your sanity, stay far far away from this hopeless and awful site.

Aleks is so easy to cheat on students don't actually learn anything, and on top of that the the tutorial it has you do is very tedious and unnecessary, that tutorial, frankly, does not help any students whatsoever. Although the concept of having more than one attempt is helpful however when it comes to genuinely educating this website is not sufficient.
I have never learned math so well in my life. Things actually make sense and I can just hammer out problem after problem until I feel like I fully understand it!
I hate knowledge checks! They're pointless and the worst part they always make you do them before a test or some study guide. If I have homework due to night I don't want to do the knowledge check Aleks! Stop! It makes you complete it before you can move on. Always required at the worst time.
My Old math teacher made me do this shii and when i tell you that i would rather get my balls stepped on then eaten by a cannibal than use this site, i mean it. DONT USE THIS SITE OR I WILL TRACK YOU DOWN AND GOUGE OUT YOUR EYEBALLS THEN FEED THEM TO A PIG WHILE YOU WATCH. But Oh Wait. You wouldn't be able to. My Dad left me when i was 3 and when i tell you that as soon as i hopped on this website, he burst through the door of my teachers room and started beating her with a spoon
The fact that i can't rate this lower than 1 star is absolutely sickening. This website has made my college experience a living hell. I knew happiness before Aleks. I knew joy. I knew freedom. Now, all of those once common emotions feel ages away. I hope the creator of this god-forsaken website never achieves sexual pleasure again and dies a slow, lonely, miserable death. I wish them nothing but the absence of joy for the rest of their undoubtably miserable lives. Rot in hell, Aleks. You do not want me to succeed. You do not care.
Aleks is the worst part of math, It has terrible quality and is the reason why smart people get bad grades. I tell you from experience, and if you have to do aleks for school, I will be praying for you.
I've been working on topics all week, approx 10 hours of work put in. I'm not even halfway done and it's due in 2 days. This is the worst educational tool i've ever come across i think, how is ANYONE supposed to get anything done on this?
It doesnt help you learn math.
All i "learned" I forgot the next week.
"Forgot to do this very minor extra step? $#*! you. Its wrong and you gotta do it twice."
Answer: Because the ALEKS program is literal hell and we people are just showing our hatred for it
Answer: Most likely.
Answer: Yes deal with it
Answer: Because people want to commit suicide in an original way, and ALEKS is the best way.
Answer: I don't think so but believe me a class action suit would be an improvement
Answer: I paid over $150 for this sumbi**h, I expect it to work
Answer: No i do not think the website owner has issued one but I think the feelings for aleks would be "down the toilet"
Answer: I realize this reply is very late but in case for anyone who needs it: -Let's say you're learning how to use long division. They have 3 questions in it. You master the first one, then go on to the next one. You get the second one wrong, guess what? They punish you and take back your first answer so now you have to answer it again. -How fun! And don't forget the useless knowledge checks!
