This is the worst thing that I have ever had to do. I hate this app, you guys are the worst company ever. I can't believe you actually get paid to torture kids like this. You guys need some improve all of your company. Just get rid of ALEKS and keep gone like it should have been in the first place. I hate how your company makes me feel like the absolute dumbest human in the world! I feel so frustrated when I am required to do your stupid topics! I am blaming all of you software engineers who made this possible for making kids terrible! I hope you change your ways.
No it just hurts my brain, my teacher give me mental brain damage and my brain cells feel like they overdosed from drinking too much coffee, and after i used aleks for a week i would sleep in my house and see shadow figures of demons in my room and i would have to throw empty water bottles at them. The creator also looks likes a old a$$ Adolf as a grandpa, and after i used aleks my sanity level went from 100 to -3 and i feel like my brain cells are running around my head like there is a fire going on and the knowledge check makes me want to aggressively drink 3ml of bleach. The only thing i learned from aleks is that if i want to go insane i just go onto their site
This website is a f*cking piece of sh*t. For one thing, most of the lessons either say you got it wrong and then show you exactly what you did, or teleport your cursor to random places so you can't complete the lesson. I have learned NOTHING from this program. It pushes you to get the right answers and punishes you when you don't, and the only people who submit 5-star reviews are $#*!-kissing teachers.
O you got 4 out 5 right to go on another topic but wait u just missed 3 in a row and you still have 1 point left. Good luck because Alex will make you work on a totally different topic so your 30 min of work is a waste of time. This Alex program is brain dead and is the worst system I have ever worked with.
Aleks would get 0 stars if it were up to me this site is terrible and just a way for lazy teachers to give their students work without having to create it. It just creates frustration and is stressful on the students, lots of students just wont do it which will bring their overall grade down and hurt the teacher in the end.
The worst thing with ALEKS is the knowledge tracker. It says "8 objectives to go!" and even if you complete 10 different sections it will still say "8 objectives to go!"
While I understand that you need to learn 'previous knowledge' if you failed on it in the knowledge check, for someone who is already incredibly discouraged with math, the appearance of me making absolutely 0 progress after hours of work makes me never want to look at another math problem again, but unfortunately ALEKS is my entire university math class.
If you're a teacher - actually teach your class - this can be a good supplemental tool if used correctly, not to teach an entirely new math class to someone though.
In the picture posted I worked through 15 different sections. It only gave me 1 for the required progress for my class, while simultaneously making me feel like I'm going in circles wasting my time. I despise math because of this program. It was never my strong suit but I wanted to learn. I don't care anymore. Math is dead to me.
I am currently studying for my SATS and i have been using ALEKS to help me study, though i am stuck on something on ALEKS and i have read the explanation over and over, and yet i have gained no knowledge and still have no idea how to do it. Please get rid of this dog$#*! website, and put something that actually teaches you online.
I have used Pearson before this, I'd rate Pearson 3 stars. Aleks 0 stars. My mental health is now the worst it's ever been because of Aleks. I spend every day crying. I can't focus on anything but how much stress and tears Aleks has caused me. I have no joy doing anything anymore. I actually think Aleks has caused me extreme depression. When you ask for help on a problem Alek doesn't even give the correct example majority of the time. If you get a problem wrong on Aleks, have fun doing the last two you got right all over again. Oh and each question usually takes between 10-20 minutes of your time. I'd say you'll be spending 10 hours a week on Aleks to get a C in the class. If you want a better grade then I hope you don't have a job or other classes.
100x worse than kahn academy, this is boring and does not teach you. I would rate 0.0001 stars if I could.
This is the most terrible horrible no good very badest thing ever. It does not help students at all it makes students stressed and there are many other ways to help students learn. You can use it to assign a topic that you want your students to learn but overall very stressful.
I love writing an almost 70 character chemistry problem and getting a single parentheses wrong. Or single number. It's literally helping me leave my sanity just a little. The $#*!ing masochists that decided to make answer choices that long can go impale themselves and die. $#*! me. I've got an actual job not a profession $#*!ing inputting a million different keystrokes for that job for every answer with your goofy $#*! system. Great job! Love the work. Keep it up?!? By the way $#*! the designers. To be honest I learn a lot from it. But the times where I have to step back for the 9th parentheses in a single answer. It's $#*!ing pointless and an absolute waste of a chunk of time. Good rant. Go $#*! yourself. Why do people use you. Infuriating $#*! of a program.
Alecks is the worst a ever mad it feels like being stabbed in the throat by a sword ever 5 seconds it is the most bland poor made ad overhaul boring website it feels like it has little to know progression it makes it so you have to do tons of problems that they don't tell you how to do so it is glitches and sometimes it says your wrong when your right it makes you start over if you get a problem wrong twice and it wastes 20 mins every day a week for me
ALEKS truly stinks. I sit at my desk at school doing stupid math problems for an hour and 45 minutes trying to get 10 topics done. Now, I do have to say, there are few good things to learn, but way over half the stuff there is dumb stuff I already know. The only reasons why I get some of them wrong is because they switch the answer boxes around, and I put in the answers flip-flopped. My math teacher will give us an F for ALEKS if we don't get all our topics and time done for the week. I would truly love for him to sit down for 100 minutes and spend time doing dumb math problems, during the time that he could use to play games! All in all, ALEKS stinks worse than the smelliest deuce I've dropped.
Terrible. Pure garbage.
When I was first shown this site I thought, wow this is trash. It is boring and kids will hate is. Look at Prodigy math If you like this try Prodigy math and go to theripy. I mean y would u ever use this sh*t students pls pls show this site to your teacher make them suffer for making us do 10 topics every week of our miserable life. And the teachers who love it F*ck them!
1. it does not LET u learn
2. Ime a tech and look at my typing I have lost my brain
3. F&!^$ING SH** THAT SUCKS A*S HOLEs
Tip: stop it get some help if you like this and teachers say sorry to your students for fuc*in ruining their life and self esteme
Look at the picture
I am a teacher and I hate this so stop.
I first started using Aleks in 4th grade. I'm in 7th grade now. Still WORSE than ever. DON'T use it! Save yourself/students a lot of pandemonium.
First, the questions. The explanations don't explain them well. Looking at the explanations makes the whole war and peace book easy to memorize.
Second, that infamous knowledge check. There's really no point of that knowledge check, why do we even have it? It'll just take your overall score down and you lose progress for ******* hours of slaving of all the lessons you've done already.
Also, it tells you that you got it wrong. Even if you do get a question wrong, you shouldn't be blamed. 2nd. SECOND GRADERS have to do this. Anyway, I'm done ranting. Now if you excuse me, I need to go get my afternoon coffee so I can get my other 583 topics done.
I am very gifted at math, so I pick up on what I am doing easily. It is organized nice and simplistically. It helps my mind to understand the concept of math better.
However, I have my doubts that this math program is giving me math I will actually see in something like the SAT test. Where is it even coming from? Will this even help me pass the SAT test? Considering the bad reviews, I am very unsure.
It has a very poor progression system unless you change a setting so that that program has you learn by each pie piece rather than jumping to the next easiest problem.
The explanations are described in a way that looks like a computer wizard barfed up a calculator. I only understand what I am doing because I am gifted at math. I can see people under 12th grade would be incredibly frustrated by this program.
I do a problem for about 1 to 15 minutes and then move on very quickly, never to see that problem again if I pass the next knowledge test. Will I actually remember it all? Will it all come naturally when I finish a pie? I don't know. I have my doubts.
Genuinely an awful website to teach students with, when every question is wrong it does not give an in-depth explanation on how to fix your work on the next question, The lessons are not long enough for a student to properly understand the assignment, the system that this website has does not encourage learning but frustration. Please never ever use this website.
I think ALEKS is a nice website to learn and practice math, but there are a few issues. The first thing I noticed was when a math problem is being explained, it sometimes leaves out a few simple steps like dividing or multiplying. I have to retrace the steps myself to figure out what was done to get the answer. Another big thing that I find discouraging is when it will explain how to do a math problem, then you're asked to solve a problem that requires you to do something different than what was explained. Maybe this is a way to engage you to learn more, but it does this repeatedly for about 5 times. Asking you to do something different than what was explained. After a while it gets frustrating because I would like to at least get the hang of what was previously taught before being asked to do something different.
Answer: Because the ALEKS program is literal hell and we people are just showing our hatred for it
Answer: Most likely.
Answer: Yes deal with it
Answer: Because people want to commit suicide in an original way, and ALEKS is the best way.
Answer: I don't think so but believe me a class action suit would be an improvement
Answer: I paid over $150 for this sumbi**h, I expect it to work
Answer: No i do not think the website owner has issued one but I think the feelings for aleks would be "down the toilet"
Answer: I realize this reply is very late but in case for anyone who needs it: -Let's say you're learning how to use long division. They have 3 questions in it. You master the first one, then go on to the next one. You get the second one wrong, guess what? They punish you and take back your first answer so now you have to answer it again. -How fun! And don't forget the useless knowledge checks!
