Airbnb processed multiple unauthorized charges on my credit card for reservations I did not make. Despite reporting the fraudulent charges, Airbnb refused to provide assistance unless compelled by subpoena. During this process, they falsely accused me of sharing my card information, which is untrue. Their refusal to cooperate caused significant stress, inconvenience, and wasted time. I urge Airbnb to: 1. Acknowledge that the charges were unauthorized. 2. Refund the full amount. 3. Implement policies to ensure consumers are not forced to obtain subpoenas to access basic transaction details. 4. Issue a public acknowledgment or apology for falsely accusing customers.

I am absolutely shocked by the way Airbnb treats its users. Without any warning, they simply deleted my account even though I've been a long-time loyal customer. Their justification? A completely baseless accusation about a supposedly "suspicious payment." This is entirely false. Every payment method used on my account belongs to me, whether it's my bank cards or gift cards, and I am fully able to provide any proof needed: bank statements, purchase invoices, etc. Despite this, Airbnb didn't even bother to verify anything or ask me for a single document. Even worse: my balance is still trapped on their platform! Airbnb takes the money but then closes accounts arbitrarily, without a valid explanation and while refusing any real discussion. It's complete disrespect toward customers. Airbnb is no longer the reliable platform it claims to be. No transparency, no accountability, no fairness. I strongly advise anyone to be extremely careful — today it happened to me, tomorrow it may happen to you.

I want to share a serious and dangerous experience I had with Airbnb so that others don't go through the same. I booked an Airbnb apartment, and because I used the kettle and washing machine at the same time, the power went out. The host forced me, in the dark, to turn the fuse box on and off while holding my 7-month-old baby, but it didn't help. When I got frustrated, she started shouting "get out of my flat" and forced me to leave at night, leaving my baby's clothes and belongings locked in the washing machine, which the host refuses to return. Airbnb support did not help at the time, and three days later told me that it was my fault and they will not refund my money, claiming I allegedly violated the host's rules, rules that were never mentioned at booking. Such rules restricting the use of basic appliances should never be allowed. This is completely unreasonable, unsafe, and unacceptable. I want as many people as possible to know about this, so no one else ends up in such a dangerous situation.

I had a very disappointing experience with an Airbnb stay that exposed serious issues with how guest complaints are handled. When I entered the apartment, I found yellow liquid in the toilet. The host claimed it was cleaning gel, but its appearance suggested otherwise. More importantly, the apartment had no potable water — a critical fact that was NOT disclosed in the listing. Internet was unreliable, and the heating system is centralized and shuts off at night, leaving the apartment cold after 11 PM. Because of these problems, I asked the host to cancel the booking without penalty. The host refused until I was forced to escalate the issue with Airbnb. Only after several days was I refunded for the unused nights. Despite confirming safety concerns, Airbnb declined to remove the host's retaliatory public comments and did not take meaningful action regarding the listing. I remained respectful throughout the process, and the apartment was generally clean, but essential living conditions were not met. This experience left me with the impression that Airbnb's procedures prioritize internal policy over real guest protection. An accommodation lacking potable water should not be listed without clear disclosure. I am sharing this so future guests understand the risks when serious issues arise.

My recent experience with this platform was, unfortunately, extremely negative. Just eight days before departure—during one of the busiest school holiday weeks—the company cancelled our ski accommodation without providing any clear or valid reason. This caused a great deal of stress and uncertainty, especially given the timing. Since no comparable alternative accommodation was offered, we were forced to book a much more expensive stay in order to even qualify for an already insufficient rebooking compensation. As a result, we were left with a significant financial loss. Customer Support was equally disappointing. In my experience, they repeatedly fell back on standard policies, showing no consideration for the exceptional nature of the situation or its impact. I received no acknowledgment of what I believe to be my rights in such a case. Finally, the explanation given for the cancellation was highly problematic: vague, incomplete, and inconsistent, creating the strong impression that they were not being transparent with us. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this platform. I sincerely hope others will be spared this kind of situation, and that the company takes steps toward a more honest, transparent, and customer‑focused approach.

I had a disappointing experience with Airbnb's Resolution Team regarding a damage claim. I was charged $800 for an old window with a crack originating from the bottom of the frame, with no visible signs of impact on the window or frame. I know for certain that we did not cause this damage, yet the resolution process did not adequately consider causation or the condition of the property. The experience felt unfair and lacking transparency, and I hope Airbnb improves its approach to assessing claims and supporting guests.

I had no choice but to leave my Airbnb early after just 2 nights because the apartment triggered health issues (itchy eyes, cough, damp bed). I immediately booked another stay at my own expense of over $700, where my symptoms disappeared within hours. Despite providing Airbnb with photos, a video of the AC showing an error, electricity meter proof, and explaining my health problems, they refused to honor their AirCover guarantee. Instead, they sided with the host, who only "touched the bed" and claimed everything was fine. At one point I was offered a $200 voucher, but the case was later closed abruptly without even giving me the chance to accept it. I specifically asked for a refund under AirCover, but Airbnb said it was "host discretion" — which makes AirCover meaningless. The host will never agree to refund, so the guest is left unprotected. This experience has shown me that health, safety, and guest wellbeing are not protected as promised under Airbnb's AirCover policy. I will not use Airbnb again in the future, and I strongly suggest travelers think twice before relying on their so-called guarantees.

We booked an apartment in Cannes (Residence Cannes Beach La Bocca) in late August 2025, and it was a total nightmare! The residence was filthy, run-down, full of cockroaches (we found out a pest control was planned the week after!), and the atmosphere was absolutely unsafe. My girlfriend was even verbally harassed right after arrival, and local police on site told us it was a dangerous area and strongly advised us not to stay there. The apartment itself wasn't properly cleaned either. We contacted the host right away, but he brushed off all the issues. We then reached out to Airbnb support, sending plenty of photos (we also have videos) and even some recent articles from the local newspapers that certified the rundown state of the residence, but after 12 hours they simply told us we weren't entitled to any refund. So we left immediately, didn't spend a single night there, and still got zero assistance. Airbnb completely ignored basic safety and hygiene standards. We are already taking legal action accordingly, but - for sure - after this experience, we'll never book with Airbnb again, and we will advise all our friends and people we know against doing so!

This company and the people it employs are beyond despicable. My colleague and I rented an apartment. The host (a particularly odious individual called Hady) failed to declare that he has a toxic ongoing dispute with his immediate neighbour who resents Airbnb rental guests. My colleague and I were made ill through sleep deprivation because of the neighbours extreme nocturnal anti social behaviour that went on every night all night without abatement. We gave the host two opportunities to resolve the situation. Sadly he resorted to gaslighting, guilt tripping and emotional blackmail saying I would ruin his business, reputation and wedding if I cancelled the booking or contacted AirBnB. There was always a coercive undertone to his behaviour. After 7 nights of sleep deprivation we contacted Airbnb. We asked to cancel the booking and be refunded the unused nights post cancellation, as per the host's own published cancellation policy, so we could book alternative accommodation. We provided numerous recordings and videos of the neighbour's anti social behaviour to Airbnb. Shortly afterwards I received an angry phone call from Hady getting nasty because I wanted to cancel and had contacted Airbnb. During that call he threatened me, including to 'ruin' me so I would never get another Airbnb. An incompetent from Airbnb called us to inform us that she had spoken to the host and he was refusing o refund the unused nights thereby breaching his own cancellation policy. The incompetent then said she had not even looked at the evidence we presented, thereby showing a complete lack of impartiality and an unwillingness to apply Airbnb's own policies. It took another 7 days before a senior person at Airbnb found in our favour and not only refunded us the unused nights but gave additional refunds due to the appalling experience. By then we had been made even more ill by sleep deprivation to the point of accidents and personal injury, and we had gone into debt to book alternative accommodation. Th alternative accommodation was fantastic. The host was angry and bitter at us for cancelling and made it clear he would seek retaliation. I have since discovered he has put a defamatory review on Airbnb accusing me of committing criminal offences and having some 'finding' against me for those offences. The review is wholly untrue and defamatory. Airbnb and have repeatedly refused to remove the defamatory review even though they have been made aware that the review lost me an offer of employment. I have now instituted proceedings against Airbnb for libel. Airbnb are fine until something goes wrong, then you are fully treated like something they stepped in. Their inappropriately named 'customer services' routinely refuse to follow their own policies, instead siding with abusive hosts. You will be promised call backs that do not materialise, kept on long hold before being cut off, and subjected to an avalanche of insensitive inane messages that trivialise and mock you, including moronic e mails telling you that so and so is going off duty. Then they close the message without resolution. They are incompetents who cannot even work to their own company policies and certainly provide no degree of customer service whatsoever. With some of them it feels like they 'get off' on playing these abusive games with the customer. Terrible company who actively enable, encourage and openly condone the harassment of women by abusive men through their online platform. Anyone who believes in the principles of honesty and fairness should avoid this disgusting company and seek other platforms. They are proper nasty. Nobody should be subjected to harassment, defamation and victimisation for simply engaging with Airbnb's policies, and any company with decent morals and standards would never allow such. One can therefore only surmise that Airbnb are m orally and ethically bankrupt!

I had a recent experience with Airbnb that makes me question the integrity of its review system and its commitment to protecting guests. We stayed with a Superhost who claimed to have hosted over 400 guests in 8+ years. Yet, when I checked, she had only 95 reviews, almost all suspiciously glowing. When we left an honest review describing our negative experience, I noticed that Airbnb did not display it at the top (even though it was the most recent) but buried it far below older reviews. This makes the review system misleading and unreliable for future users. Worse, the host responded to our review with defamatory statements, discriminatory remarks, and even disclosed our private information. We reported this to Airbnb support. Shockingly, they told us the only way to remove the host's malicious response was if we deleted our own honest review. In other words: the host's harmful, rule-violating content is allowed to stay, but only at the cost of silencing the guest. This shows Airbnb is not committed to transparency or guest safety. Instead, it seems more interested in protecting Superhosts and maximizing bookings rather than maintaining a trustworthy review system. Guests rely on honest reviews to make safe decisions, but Airbnb's practices deprive them of that right. Airbnb is failing at its core responsibility: providing a fair, safe, and transparent platform. If they cannot protect guests or uphold their own review policies, how can travelers trust this product at all?

Airbnb openly lies and conceals material information in order to protect its income stream and reduce liability. No effort is made to be honest or forthcoming. No integrity is shown at all. There is no effort made to respect any laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act. I am so tired of getting overpriced rentals that are located next to loud, noisy roads and highways which information is/was 100% concealed. I am so tired of getting overpriced rentals were the hosts use cameras and other devices to 100% destroy your privacy. I am so tired of getting overpriced rentals where the hosts place wicked Wiccan etc. symbols over doorways inside the rental. I am so tired of getting overpriced rentals where the neighbors engage in screaming and yelling during the middle of the night. I am so tired of getting no truth as the hosts engage in wicked advertising that excludes any information detrimental to your decision such as dangerous driveways and no access to the rental for the disabled. Airbnb allows all of this lying and deceit, and prevents any fairness or decency. Do not use Airbnb. Find another way to locate housing.

Here is its latest nonsensical twist: When a host lies about an alleged discrimination, leaving out details about its part in provoking the whole matter, Airbnb doesn't investigate. They don't ask for context. They don't care about truth. They just deactivate your account and move on—no dialogue, no due process, no dignity. PS: I'm still trying to figure out, exactly how does a guest discriminate against a host? I suspect that even Airbnb doesn't know, just falsely and recklessly throwing around descriptors without a proper context or meaning. I mean, did I somehow withhold something from the host, for a particular reason or favor one host over the next? I know it sounds crazy. Airbnb now strikes again given that in the recent past it demonstrated blatantly that its operation is more about policy—than it's about safety. Airbnb sends travelers into foreign environments with zero preparation for even the most basic sanitary realities. In some countries, (Philippines) guests are expected to discard used toilet paper in open trash bins rather than flush it. No warning. No guidance. Just weeks of breathing in the fumes of soiled tissue in a sealed room, because Airbnb couldn't be bothered to flag the health risks or cultural expectations. That's not just unsanitary—it's negligent! Airbnb's support channels are performative. Their policies are rigid to the point of cruelty. And their so-called "community standards" are weaponized against guests who dare to speak up. I wasn't just mistreated—I was erased. If it think I'm going to remain silent, Airbnb has got the wrong one. Travelers deserve platforms that prioritize truth, safety, and dignity. Airbnb isn't one of them. If you're a traveler who values truth, fairness, and respect, look elsewhere—Airbnb has lost the plot.

I have 9 properties listed on AirBnB. I am a Superhost. They have every reason to treat me well, as I follow all their rules and make them tons of money. But when I couldn't call in for support anymore they found it was due to a "Company wide" computer issue and told me they wouldn't help me. Company-wide technical glitch preventing us from getting support and they refuse to help? I took a picture of their response to fixing the issue. It says exactly this. I am attaching it.

We booked an aprtment unit on airbnb for December 25. We arrived just after 4pm and we observed that half of the lights and electric outlets did not work. Especially the top of the stiars and bathrooms that did not have windows. Also there were no smoke alarms or co2 detectors. The listing for the unit stated that there were smoke and co2 detectors. Tried to contact the host and airbnb with little or no help or response. We did not stay in the unit at all due to these unsafe conditions. Ended up in a hotel and the next day airbnb called and said in order to recieve a refund I had to cancel the reservation on the web site which I did. This was a trick used by airbnb to deny my refund. They said that even though I had pics of the light switches in the on position and no lights because I did not have a video of turning the switches on and off they did not consider this proof. What was really deceptive, a representative of the hosts team called my and promised a refund but begged me not to leave a bad review on airbnbs website. Now because they convinced me to cancel the reservation, I cannot leave a review at all. This is unfair and deceptive. I am soured on using airbnb ever again. Stay away!

I'm a long-time Airbnb guest, and what happened to me on Phu Quoc (Vietnam) in 2025 showed how badly the platform can fail when something goes wrong. I had two reservations with the same host Hùng – IDs HMRNMASMBW and HMKBR5ZWJD. The listings had a clear address and 12:00 check-in. After booking, the host suddenly changed check-in in chat to "around 4 pm" and then started sending different addresses and hotel names – for example "Milan A254" and "Bella Hotel". At the official address and at every place he sent us: Staff said they had no idea about our reservation; They didn't know this host; Locals said this "hotel" simply does not exist and that this person is known as a scammer. The host kept promising that an "administrator" or a Grab car was on the way. We followed his instructions and ended up spending more than 7 hours walking around an unfamiliar city with our luggage, never getting a room. During all this, our money for both bookings was locked inside Airbnb, so we couldn't just book another hotel. By evening we were literally on the street: no room, no spare funds. Airbnb support made it even worse: They kept repeating that the host was "trying to help" and told us to go to yet another "new address"; They did not suspend the listing, even though it was obvious that the addresses didn't match and no check-in happened; The only "solution" they offered was a refund within 1–15 business days and to "partially cover" a new booking that I should prepay myself, even after I clearly said I had no money left. So instead of protecting the guest who was stranded without housing or money, Airbnb effectively sided with a clearly unreliable host and hid behind scripts and policies. This is not just a bad stay – it is a serious failure of guest safety and customer support: No emergency relocation, No direct payment to a safe hotel, No instant refund so we could secure a place to sleep, And a suspicious host still operating on the platform. I expect a full refund, compensation for extra costs and a wasted day, and a proper investigation of this host and of how support handled my case. Until Airbnb proves they can handle situations like this responsibly, I cannot recommend using their service.

We stayed at a property in Tournefort, France (July 12–17,2025), hosted by Dréane Wladimir. What happened to us — and how Airbnb handled it — is something travelers should know. ⸻ 🚩 Our experience with the host: 1. Unreasonable check-in – After a 12-hour drive, we requested a quick check-in. The host insisted on a 30-minute property tour, dismissing our exhaustion. 2. Sexually suggestive conduct – The host engaged in inappropriate poses, including bending over and crawling upstairs on all fours, wiggling her buttocks in front of me. She repeatedly stood too close despite my efforts to keep distance. 3. Disrespectful behavior – She shouted foul language in French as she left, then returned uninvited into our private conversation. 4. Hostility and intimidation – That evening, we overheard a 15-minute aggressive argument between the host and her partner, adding to the feeling of unease. 5. Derogatory messages – She later sent insulting messages, calling me a "weirdo," and accused me of inappropriate behavior. 6. Privacy violations – She announced she would perform daily property checks, even after we objected, later saying she would only come when our car was gone — making us feel monitored. 7. Inflexibility and pressure – Before arrival, despite warning her about possible delays, she demanded arrival by 7:30 PM, forcing us to leave Stuttgart at 5 AM. 8. Potential retaliation – She offered massage services, and after we declined, her treatment of us became colder and more hostile. We documented these issues in a formal discrimination complaint to Airbnb on August 18,2025, including explicit details of inappropriate physical proximity, suggestive conduct, aggressive language, and derogatory remarks. Airbnb dismissed the case without informing us of any outcome; the host continues to operate as normal. ⸻ 📝 My original Airbnb review (removed by Airbnb): "We feel compelled to share our concerns about our recent stay. After a 12-hour drive, we requested a brief check-in due to exhaustion, but the 30-minute rundown felt dismissive. Your suggestive behavior, including close proximity and provocative poses, made us very uncomfortable, despite our efforts to maintain distance. Your loud, insulting remarks in French as you left were upsetting. We also overheard a loud argument with your companion, which was unsettling. The daily property checks, even after we raised privacy concerns, felt intrusive, as you noted checking when our car was absent. Your inflexibility regarding our late arrival, despite prior notice due to road issues, added stress, forcing a 05:00 early departure. Lastly, your final message accusing me of acting strangely and calling me a 'weirdo' was unwarranted." Airbnb reinstated this review after my first appeal, but then removed it again two days later, stating it was "irrelevant." ⸻ 📢 Host's review of me (still public): "A very intimidating attitude, I greeted him with a smile. He had a very aggressive face, as if he was very, very angry. I think it was inappropriate in front of a woman. I tried to relax things a little by talking but there was nothing to do. Then I showed him how the facilities worked. He continued to act very strangely. It was very disturbing. I tried to communicate with him but either he turned his back on me or he went in another direction. I've never been so uncomfortable, he wasn't acting normally. In 6 years of being a Superhost on Airbnb, I've never seen this." Despite my discrimination complaint and formal requests, Airbnb has allowed this review — filled with insulting, subjective, and gender-based remarks — to remain public. ⸻ Airbnb's handling: My negative review was removed twice (first for being "retaliatory," later as "irrelevant"). The host's insulting review of me remains public. My formal discrimination complaint was dismissed, with no explanation or accountability. The host still enjoys 129 perfect 5-star reviews, which is unusual and does not reflect our experience. ⸻ 🚨 Why I am posting this publicly Because Airbnb erased my honest review but preserved the host's insulting one, I feel future guests are not being given the full picture. Guests deserve transparency. Airbnb's system, in this case, silenced the victim and protected the host. Travelers, please be cautious: the glossy 5-star reviews do not always tell the full story.

The room has window without curtains, at night if you are sensitive to lights, you'll have difficulty falling asleep. The room belongs to the owner child and it is full of their belongings. The room is part of the main house you don't have privacy. It wasn't cleaned when we checked in and we were received by a friend of the hostess. We never met the hostess until something happened. The second night we stayed, we heard noise which we thought it was ghost. We had a banana on the table and there was a hole. We purposely didn't remove it wanted to make sure something is in the room. The next morning, the banana was dragged to the floor and additional hole was added. We then reported to the daughter who has a room next to us. She informed us that it happened with her nights ago. She then told her parents and her father came to check. He told us he will arrange pest control to investigate. Someone from the pest control company came and checked our room. He said he will arrange to do the big cleaning, but cannot be immediate. We were not satisfied with the reply so we decided to move out and reported the incident to AirBnB LA. The good news was, the owner agreed to return the money we have fully paid.

Property Unfit for Rental
January 8, 2024

I booked an Airbnb vacation rental home in Mussomeli, Sicily for two nights for my husband and myself. The property is located in the old part of the town. It was described as being within walking distance of shops and restaurants. This was important to us as we were being dropped off by one driver upon arrival and then picked up by another driver on departure day. Our driver would not have found the house had it not been for the postman delivering mail who guided our car to a nearby street. The house itself was on a steep hill surrounded by other row homes and not accessible by car. There were no restaurants or shops nearby. Inside were steep stairs going up and steep stairs going down. We thought we'd break our necks carrying suitcases upstairs and visiting the toilet at night, as BR and bathroom were on different floors. We closed the door and left. Awful place that should never be a vacation rental.

Cockroaches
December 25, 2023

Came to the Tampa, FL area for a 3 week stay for over $2,200. On first getting there the place was dirty, windows overs with old dog prints from animals, old smelly cloths left in washer, dog waste all over the place. Owner stated the place was just clean. A couple days in, cockroaches were found in the kitchen. But that was only the start. The enclosed fence fell down, the shower hose broke. The owner ordered a new shower head, that we had to install, along with a new filter for the A/C. Owner said she would replace fence or make a temporary fix so we could have our animals a place to run without worry. She never showed up. She called pest control and they stated the cockroaches were due to bad conditions in the home and old food. And it was only going to get worse. These were German cockroaches not the palmetto ones. They continued to get worse and got into the fridge and to our children's bed. We had to eat out bc it was so bad and eventually left over a week early because of the conditions. The owner stated the place was trashed before us and said nothing until the cockroaches started to come out. Upon leaving we cleaned and found old beer that dried up under the couch and beer bottle tops and confetti stocked to the floor. The owners reply that she has lived there with the cockroach's for a long period of time before and had no problem. They ca kids are running by they carry diseases and made me sick while there. AirBnB stated they have no policy about cockroaches and could only give us a refund of $8.30 for one night! Absolutely ridiculous!

With this review I would like to warn home owners who are renting out their accomodation through Airbnb.Over a decade I have listed my 2 houses on Airbnb. In my settings I always use the "first enquiry before official confirmation of the rental agreement". This weekend I suddenly got an instant booking on a period which was impossible for renting out. For some reason the settings were changed to "Instant" booking. So I had to cancel the booking. For this I got a € 188,- penalty from AIRBNB.

My first thought was that this for sure was a mistake by Airbnb. But...their final comment is that I am the only one able to change settings. And so I made the change... and have to pay this rather strange fine.

I did some investigation which shows that suddenly also my offline houses were all changed to "instant booking." As being not a real handy guy in changing settings. (It will take a day for me to find where to make such a change) I am quite sure that it was not me who made these changes. I can not prove it but with this the warning to all homeowners to check if their settings are suddenly changed and perhaps respond to this review as I have a strong impression Airbnb does change settings. The reason for it is obvious. Either to gain extra profit by rental fees or by giving penalties for cancellations.

Nonsensical and malfunctioning service fees
December 19, 2023

Tl;dr:
This Airbnb refund policy is an absolute disaster. They only grant a full service fee refund if you cancel within the free cancellation period; otherwise, you're left with zilch. When the host chooses a percentage refund, one would assume that the service fee would align with that percentage refund. But in the realm of Airbnb, the service fee is non-refundable entirely, conveniently allowing Airbnb to pocket every bit. Yet, throughout this entire process, neither the host nor I have benefited from this supposed "service". It seems like a despotic maneuver by Airbnb, padding their pockets with pointless service fees that provide zero value in return.

----- full story -----
I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Airbnb's customer service, and it's disheartening to see how little they value their customers. Recently, I encountered a situation that perfectly embodies their lack of care for customer experiences. Despite safety concerns due to a stormy weather forecast at my destination lasting the entirety of my stay, when I attempted to reschedule my booking 72 hours before the check-in time, I was met with an infuriating roadblock.

The option to "change booking" seemed straightforward enough, so I requested to shift the dates to the following week, which showed availability on the host's calendar. However, the host insisted I contact customer service, expressing a preference for cancellation. Here's where the trouble began: by canceling, the host would only refund a portion of my payment, as Airbnb requires a five-day cancellation notice for a full refund. The frustrating part? I could cancel another stay elsewhere on some reputable hotel booking website, just 48 hours before check-in, without facing any refund or exchange fees.

I understand the reduced rebooking opportunity for the host due to the short notice, and I was willing to accept the consequences and compensate accordingly. What doesn't make sense, though, is Airbnb's stance on their non-refundable service fee. The stay hadn't even started, yet I was slapped with an irremovable service fee. What service did I receive apart from being forced to cancel when a clear rescheduling option exists on their website?

During my interaction with customer service, I attempted to find a middle ground by offering to rebook the exact same listing for different dates to ensure that both the host and the platform didn't lose revenue. However, my request for a service fee refund was met with false promises. They assured me of a full refund but later reneged, stating that the host declined the rescheduling due to potential event blockings—claims that I later discovered were outright lies, as the dates remain available on the host's calendar.

It's apparent that Airbnb attempts to shift blame onto hosts for their own shortcomings. My grievance is not with the host, who has nothing to do with Airbnb's service fee. The customer service further misled me by claiming these fees go to the host's account, or maybe not, which I found utterly laughable. At this point, my frustration has surpassed the issue of refunds.

Adding to this disappointing encounter, my previous experiences with Airbnb haven't been positive: malfunctioning AC (host wouldn't fix it or offer an alternative), unreasonable host requests (take out their dirty personal clothes, put them into washer and dry them out before I leave), and cleanliness issues (unknown liquid on towels/pillows/sheets). Despite these, I never complained or left one negative review, understanding that small businesses might have occasional imperfections. But my patience with Airbnb has run out, and I've permanently deleted my account. I'll be opting for reputable hotel websites for future bookings.

Last week we booked a penthouse at San Roque. I was in touch with the host and spoke on the telephone 30 minutes before our arrival. When we arrived she was not there and refused to answer her phone. We waited and then contacted Airbnb who tried to contact Petra without success. They refunded our money but after 5 hours drive and by then it was dark we had to find alternative accommodation. Ok. BUT. They are STILL advertising this penthouse with Petra being labelled as a Superhost! Criminal way to treat people after sitting on our money since September

Scammed by Airbnb and the host.
December 11, 2023

Made a booking, was charged and got confirmation only to be cancelled by the host Alpha Homes Tagaytay. The host can't be reached, Airbnb support is on sleeping mode. My hard earned money was never returned. I had to make another booking from agoda got confirmed and paid again.
Airbnb in my experience was just a scam.
Never again will I book through Airbnb.

Good for hosts!
December 4, 2023

If you are a HOST, airbnb is a great source of income. They only charge the host 3%, which is very low (credit card processing fee) compared to other booking platforms. Use this referral link to score an extra $40 in your pocket with your first booking.
Sign up to host on Airbnb and use the extra income to fund your passions. Here's my invitation link: https://www.airbnb.com/r/tiffanyc8035?s=39&t=131c0j

Absolute scam!
November 23, 2023

Absolute scam. My 3 in 4 experiences were awful. Will never ever use this platform again. I talked to other ppl and they shared equally awful stories. Customer service is crap, super slow plus wants you to accept hyper expensive calls from US. You need to report stuff immediately which I had to learn but even if you do so they won't help you. Each time I used their services I paid more than I would pay using booking or even expensive hotels. I used it usually where I couldnt find any other place. Owners charge you more than hotels, dont provide proper sleeping conditions, allow other ppl in your bathroom etc and claim you should appreciate their hospitality (!). I will use booking next time.

Bad company. Does not take care of its customer.
November 6, 2023

Removing my app for this company. I purchased their insurance separately to be safe for my trip for another month after. They advertised it as whatever reason you cancel the trip including emergency. So it happened that I had an emergency and couldn't use the accommodation. Airbnb told me that the insurance only covers for 8 days after I purchased it. Yes they said it is under the condition but who does insurance expiration before you actually use for the day of the trip? They just said the insurance expired. Disgusting! Does not protect its customers! No more Airbnb for us!

Insane customer service
November 1, 2023

If you don't have an issue with Airbnb bookings, fine. If you do: better expect to accept massive financial losses (airplane tickets, additional bookings, ruined travel plans etc.) because Airbnb customer support won't respond timely, and Airbnb agents don't read and listen properly. Documented facts written and voice recorded: Albanian host refused to share the correct address of a confirmed booking, instead suggesting to ask bus/taxi drivers to call her when arriving near her place. After 2 hours of sending confused text messages the Albanian host offered to cancel the booking one day before arrival ‚because she doesn't care about money'. Guest (I) forwarded the written statement of Albanian host to Airbnb customer service and called to get the confirmation for the cancellation of the booking. At this point alternative places to book nearby were still available. Albanian host changed her mind and continued to send confused and increasingly offensive text messages for hours including threatening to call the Albanian police if the guest would show up near her house in Albania - all of this without any logical reason! Airbnb customer service refused to accept the cancellation for more than 13 hours (8 a.m. CET to 9 p.m. CET) because of technical call center issues on this day - as confirmed by an Airbnb agent (second level support could not be reached for 13 hours) + a total lack of service orientation -> Airbnb created 5 tickets in parallel for one case forcing me (the guest) to explain things in an emergency situation all over again and again. After having created new tickets, no response by Airbnb for hours. No way to speak with agents who have the power to decide anything. Just blabla for hours and waiting lines. Result: I missed my flight, had to book an additional flight, and had to book an interims place to stay. The final response (days later!) of Airbnb agents is ridiculous (see screenshot attached), they refuse to take over responsibility for anything. Airbnb's business acumen is definitely not in line with existing customer laws: Airbnb argues that the host acted totally in line with Airbnb's terms and conditions -> meaning the guest needs to solve the financial mess caused by Airbnb's customer support - because they did not respond in time. Shame on Airbnb's senior management obviously preferring to burn thousands of dollars on faulty customer service processes + protecting hosts (to keep the apartments as offers) who obviously disqualify themselves with totally mental behaviors. I collected 35 times 5-star ratings from former Airbnb hosts and now after having gone through the experience I am reviewing here, I decided to delete my Airbnb account.

We rented a Airbnb last month through this site. Upon entering the neighborhood we realized very quickly that we were in a really bad neighborhood and did not feel safe even stopping at the rental. We reached out to the host and informed her and then immediately found a hotel nearby and spent an additional $1300 to stay in the same area. The host did not reimburse us any of the rental which was also $1200. Then we left a review sharing our experience and how concerned we were, and how we didn't understand how all of the reviews were good. Now I understand why because Airbnb then deleted our review a day later. This is such a dishonest an ethical system. Do not rent from Airbnb.

SCAM app protecting Hosts w/ unsafe homes
October 26, 2023

They outsource to India, so don't expect ANY customer service. After having an awful experience at a serene cabin in Green Valley Lake, CA, where the horrendous "hosts" denied using exposed rat poison blocks in their pet friendly cabin despite me having photos which necessitated me instantly leaving, AirBnB support strung me along for WEEKS until I couldn't even leave a review. Hosts wouldn't give a refund, AirBnB shielded them and wouldn't help get a refund, and then they say we only had 14 days to leave a review (responding to a review gets 30 days grace, though). Since all customer service is in India, nobody ever called despite saying they would, they got me in touch with 13 different "ambassadors" to "help," each one asking the same questions and said the same thing, yet nobody did a thing. The last thing to do would be to leave a review of this blatantly misleading & dangerous cabin to warn others with pets that their animal may be poisoned, but AirBnB took that away, too, for their own ineptitude. I will never again use AirBnB, and I would suggest everyone watches their backs... take photos from the moment you walk into your rental, write everything down, and record it all. Hosts will use specially curated photos to deceive you into thinking their homes are different than they are. See attached photos of what AirBnB protects. AirBnB is a scam as any "host" can bait-and-switch on this app while this company covers its butt, so you'll find a lot of sheisters. Point is, you book these places based on the information provided by hosts on the AirBnB site, but that doesn't mean the hosts are telling the truth. AirBnB shields their hosts and themselves by saying no refund, but there's no way anyone could know they were being lied to until they got to a location. Stay away from AirBnB for your own safety as they care more about protecting their "hosts" than they do about people spending money to use their service.

I booked a stay at an Airbnb at Address 9300 Renshaw Dr, Bethesda, MD *******, with an owner called Shahab. His place was bare bones. Hardly any pots, or pans. No silverware to speak of. No real cups, in short, a poorly stocked kitchen. Washer and dryer in the back of the home in what was a spooky, grey large room with all the ductwork there. There were no dressers. There were bugs in the basement. He would stomp over my head with his baby at three and four am. He refused to stock anything insisting I call him to get what I needed. Home smelled of mildew. Home had been refurbished, but just wasn't pleasant. All of our communications were pleasant. He kept extending my stay as I had my husband in the hospital. I cleaned with lysol when I left, opened windows, made sure I did what he asked, forgot to get a few things from the refrigerator. Without any prior warning he got online and slandered and libeled me insisting I left a bad smell, that I wrote personal things, that I left things in his refrigerator, that I called him at all hours, on and on. He's full of it. There were things I needed, and he said to call at night. I needed toilet paper, or I needed other items he refused to stock. If he didn't want to be called provide them to begin with! He had ample time to ask me to leave, why would he keep extending my stay if he felt that way? In terms of personal things, he emailed to say he was not booking after November because "B&B was not for him". So, if someone does not want to talk about personal things why email that to me? What goads me is that I was told by Airbnb is that it is not against their policy for him to write this slanderous nonsense. So, in effect they are saying their policy is to allow slander. I was told by many of those looking at the case that it was unfair, uncalled for, no bad words exchanged, and everything seemed to point to his continuing to allow my stay which is the opposite of what any normal person would do if anything he said were true. I could have written this on the Airbnb but decided to delete my account. There is no way I would suggest anyone deal with Airbnb for any reason whatsoever.

AirBnB discriminates
October 11, 2023

I booked this healing vacation for my mom and I, to Sedona, AZ. Since we both had heavy cancer treatments for years we needed a break. Instead of taking 7 different pills a day, I use medicinal marijuana and while it's legal in Arizona I let them know my situation and mention that I'll smoke outside. Just because throughout these years the stigma, and misinformation is obvious.

Turns out the location was far from downtown, but host Vanessa says the distance is only hard when "you're handicapped" basically and belittles my 73 y/o Mom. That 30 minutes walk up a steep hill was hard for me as well...but let's move on.

She promised my bed to be comfortable. But the sheets have stains, hard spots and popcorn. Ants all over the kitchen, broken glass and the new sheets (in the closet, sitting on top of a box, paintings and other personal clutter) do not smell fresh. At this point I'm so disappointed. I sit on the bed and see the whole feet part falls down, its broken. So laying on it, your feet fall down.

I text AirBnB and here is where it goes wrong:

Even though I'm paying the host $220/night, AirBnB says that even though I have no bed for a week...and the location is off...it's upto the Host to see what she wants to do.

I forward pictures to the Host and say I'm sorry to be a bother, but the bed is broken...the sheets are dirty...and the other sheets in the closet don't smell clean. Vanessa texts me I can leave now but pay for 4 nights plus cleanings fees, AirBnB fees etc. That hardly leaves me with anything left to find another place. I try regardless because we feel unwelcome.

She wanted us out since I said the bed was broken, and declined repair since that would leave me with another day of not enjoying the town and hiking. Anyway, we made sure we left everything perfect. Did the dishes, took trash out etc. Made a video how well it looked at check out.

The host left me feedback, stating we ruined the cabin, broke dishes, smoked inside and uses marijuana as a tool judge and belittle and goes off like Im a drug addict. I open a case with AirBnB to have the lies removed. They wont do it...not will they look at my video or pictures as proof.

I didn't even ask for a refund. I didn't report a lady coming by the 3rd day and a guy the 4th day. Unannounced. All I wanted was the lies taken down, but they won't do it!

Horrible! Don't use AirBnB
October 9, 2023

I'll never use AirBnB again. Booked a room 17 days ahead of the stay just to have it cancelled by the host two days before the trip with just an email notification. No phone notification. How are they allowed to cancel that late just because they don't feel like hosting someone? We got there and didn't have a room. Never again.

Airbnb left me stranded
October 7, 2023

My host canceled my reservation less than 24 hours before check-in time in Las Vegas. Airbnb refunded my money, which wasn't very helpful on a busy vegas weekend... it cost me more than $550 MORE than my reservation to book two last minute hotel rooms. Airbnb offered me a voucher of $70 towards another airbnb reservation... seriously? DO NOT TRUST YOUR TRAVEL NEEDS TO AIRBNB - THEY WILL LEAVE YOU STRANDED! A company that cannot stand behind the services they offer should not be allowed to stay in business - be prepared to stand behind your product, or don't screw with people's lives!

Airbnb doesn't stand behind their hosts
October 4, 2023

As a host, I give Airbnb one star. I've had nothing but problems with the app. Every time they make a change, it changes your settings, but they don't tell you that. More importantly, as a host, they also will not stand behind you when a guest has a complaint, even when the guest lies. I had a guest make a 15 day reservation, and in the first five days the only question I got was, where did they take the trash. Day 5 they made a request to move out early and get a refund, because the house they were buying was ready early. I said they couldn't get a full refund for all the days, but if it booked on the days they had reserved, I would refund those days. Then the next day he filed an official complaint with Airbnb that there was too much road noise. Airbnb acknowledged that they saw our text conversation in the app where he requested to leave early. They also agreed that he didn't make the noise complaint, until after I denied to refund him all his money. In the listing it stated that the house was on a highway and there would be road noise. This was in multiple places, including using the Airbnb noise level indicator when I set up the listing. It's a scale of 1 to 4 and my home was rated with their tool as a three. Airbnb acknowledged that was clearly in the description of the home, and in the additional information guests should know as well as the noise level rating when they make the reservation. They never complained about the road noise until after I said I couldn't give them all their money back.

Then Airbnb proceeded to hound me all day to give him a full refund for the 10 days. Then suddenly in the middle of this dispute, the settings changed from non-refundable to flexible refunds. The guest was able to cancel the reservation entirely, and they gave him half his money back for the entire stay. I am still waiting for a resolution. Shame on you in Airbnb.
