I am so disappointed at AHS. I so far know 15 contracts that will cancel with AHS as I write this review. I am 10,000,000,000.00% sure I am NOT the only one that agrees with the poor, bad, frustrating AHS. They tell you they will follow up with you and they never do. A company shows its values when the customer service is right. Why am I paying for a service that I end up buying the new appliance?
From 2019, Family-had washer and dryer that needs to be repair and they waited 2 months. Nothing was fixed. At the end AHS did nothing and Family A ended up buying a new washer & dryer. Very disappointing!
From 2018 Family B- had dishwasher broken. AHS said they do not have the part and replace with a broken part. Family B end up buying a new dishwasher, because after 3 months, nothing was fixed.
The list can go on, AHS as of today has not improve their services. I can understand why people are starting to leave this company. I hope no more customers end up with this bad service.

Scam
July 29, 2020

AHS is a complete scam. They keep you on hold for over an hour and have no one to speak to regarding service. They will charge t you the service fee $75 upfront before they will dispatch h a worker and then if the worker does not do the work they will not refund at all. No one American to speak to I think it is likely outsourced associates who don't communicate well. Don't waste your money

This is the worst company I've ever dealt with. Before you buy. Try this. Call their claims department and type in 2 for existing claim... they leave you on hold for 1 hour minimum so customers get frustrated and hang up. This happened all 10 times that I've called them. Then when you get them on the phone they will give you every excuse why they cannot replace your equipment. They sent a vendor to my home 6 times for a dryer repair. They cannot fix and just keep sending the vendor. They give you the run around because they do not want to replace it. This is a complete waste of money and time. Do yourself a favor and save the monthly fees and repair on your own.

Worst company I've ever dealt with. It's actually a joke calling them they are so bad.

AC Repair Ignored
July 27, 2020

In April of 2020, I put in a request for repair to my AC Unit. I paid a $100 Service Fee. A technician came out and told me that the AC had water damage and he doubted that AHS would pay for that. I asked what water damage and was told that the overflow pan was rusted from water condensation. I indicated to the technical that that's the way it should work; and the tech indicated that's correct but didn't think AHS would probably not cover the cost to fix it. He indicated that he would get to back to me. After a couple of weeks, I called AHS for status of the repair. I was told that it was approved and that it would cost me $1400 out of pocket. The AHS representative indicated that he would reach out to the tech to call me to explain further. It is now July, and I have never received any further communication from the tech or AHS. $100 down the drain and never even received a return call... AHS closed out the ticket with no further follow up. I was skeptical of Home Warranties programs and AHS has confirmed for me that skepticism. My recommendation save the monthly payments find reliable contractors and get your items repaired.

I own a second home and decided to use American Home Shield to help avoid major costs of system/appliance breakdowns and also to protect me from being price gauged by contractors when they see out of state tags on my vehicle. Well. That was a mistake... Last year my AC system stopped working and the circuit breaker kept popping. I called ahs, they dispatched the first contractor who diagnosed the problem, replaced a capacitor which seemed to work until the two months later when we arrived and the house was over 90 degrees. We immediately contacted ahs who once again wanted another $133 service fee because this repair was one day beyond the 60 day warranty. After several escalations they agreed to waive the fee. Sent the same contractor again who diagnosed the problem as a bad compressor... he explained that ahs would be responsible to replace the compressor but the air handler would be my responsibility. That was fine... the terms of the agreement were understood however, ahs refused to pay for the compressor and wanted another contractor to come and assess the situation which took almost a week... due to the extreme heat we were unable to stay in the home, had to rent a motel room... and was only reimbursed for one day by ahs... once the new contractor was assigned, he rewired some stuff in the compressor and modified some compacitors to make the system work. This lasted for only one month then the circuit breaker blew again... the second contractor came back and this time told me the circuit breaker was bad so he replaced it with an oversized breaker... The system immediately began to freeze up and he said to remove the filter. Net net. The system/compressor was no good. The gas was low but the contractor never did any diagnostics. Just patches. I finally sought out a qualified AC company, they confirmed the freon and oversized breaker were both mistakes... I purchased a new system and fired ahs. They are not worth the money. They are in business to make money which means patch not replace. The solutions were not comprehensive or safe... they are not good. Run away!

Dealing with AHS Customer Service might be the worst experience with a company I've ever had. I submitted a cash out request on Monday, called back Tuesday only to have the agent tell me that the previous agent never submitted the request. I was told it would take 24 hours to process from then. I called again Wednesday and the agent said it would be processed by the end of the day and that a Supervisor would be giving me a call, which never happened. Called again Thursday requesting to speak with a Supervisor, to which the agent said she was busy and would give me a call back later that day, which never happened. Today is Friday, I haven't had a working A/C for over a week, and have yet to get a status update on my request, or successfully speak to a Supervisor after two separate requests. I'm starting to believe that they may not have any Supervisors on duty which is why the Customer Service agents just seem to run rogue in their dealings with customers. Truly disgusted with AHS Customer Service and their ability to make me feel like a valued customer. I would give negative stars if I could.

My AC in FL broke over 10 days ago and the repairman AHS sent won't return calls or texts and has not fixed the compressor so NO AC in Fl summer heat! AHS customer service line continually plays the message that wait times are over an hour and to please call back. I've concluded their tactic is to delay you over and over so they don't have to pay for the expensive AC compressor replacement. They hire unresponsive, low priced repairman, make you wait an hour or more to answer their call on their one customer service line and then give the excuse that due to Covid they are understaffed for their call line! I finally reached them and they said they couldn't comment because the repairman had not turned in the diagnosis yet... welcome to AHS and their miserable warranty coverage. Don't get fooled by their website ads... they are not a 5 star company... they don't even deserve 1 star.

My washer broke and they agreed to replace it. I asked if I could purchase the matching dryer through their appliance discount program. First it was no discount. They took my money over the phone and gave me the name of the company who would receive and install. When I didn't hear from them I called them. They said they never receive or install. That was a week ago. I have spent 46 hours on hold in the past week and still they can't tell me where my washer and dryer are, or even if they were ordered. They won't call me back, but they have my 914.60$

This company will tell one thing and do another! As a senior citizen they doubled billed me for a home warranty and since June I am still waiting for my money. This companies employees DO NOT care about their customers at all. DO NOT get involved with these people, and I really regret ever pursing a home warranty from them. DO NOT make the same mistake that I made. I have even sent over 50 emails to a customer service rep and she keeps saying it is being processed again, how many times does it take.

Try to call there service no.*******659.it took me 2 days for an answer
Look up any A. H. S number. You just get the same thing
They don, t even have an Email address.
Now my story.
My water heater went out on Fri. June 12,2020. I started calling A. H. S. Two days
Later they answered the phone (try the number). Monday the plumber called.
Plumbers Inc.*******321) The first thing he said was I have water damage.
His friend came out 45min. Later, and said I have over $3000. 00 in damage.
About 5 sq. Feet, the heater sits on a tin pan. I told the plumber no on the
Water damage. Next I get a email from A. H. S.(remember you can, t email them)
It will cost $900.00 for upgrades to the water heater install. All the parts
From home depot, I checked $232.00. June 22,2020 I get a call from the
Plumber, asking when do I want the water heater installed. By this time my son
Install a new water heater. Total cost $700.00.
Both me and my wife are 75, and disabled, with no water for 8 days
Like I said call any phone numbers they list (it will tell the whole story).

Poor service
July 10, 2020

My family member requested service. When a technician came out, he told my eldely aunt that her coil had a leak. He then charged her 300 dollars to put freon back in the unit with a leak additive. In two days all the freon leaked backed out. My aunt then called them and told them what happened. It's been over a 5 weeks in this Texas heat, and they haven't sent no-one out to fix the problem. My aunt has had to stay with family member because it is too hot for her tostay in the house. As of today still not fixed. Piss Poor service.

Do NOT buy American Home Shield - COMPLETE RIP-OFF!
My AC unit went out a month ago. When I called in they did send a contractor 2 days later. The contractor determined a new unit was needed because the broken part was no longer available.
For the next month, I spent atleast 10 hours on hold/talking to AHS reps whom all promised to escalate my issue.
Each call, AHS blamed the contractor for not giving all the info needed for a replacement unit. Meanwhile the contractor was blaming AHS saying they can't wait for an hour on hold to give them the needed info. The contractor actually gave me their AHS special "pre-authorization" ID# and I called AHS and impersonated the contractor. I passed along the info AHS said they needed to the contractor a week ago and nothing...
So then three days ago I called to cancel with AHS. They put me to a "recovery specialist" whom promised she would escalate and even get their field acct manager involved. Of course no promised call back has occurred.
So now I'm going thru Home Depot and canceling AHS. I am betting any positive reviews on here are fake as well. People do NOT buy with AHS. You are better off saving the $50 premium and having your own rainy day fund

When something goes wrong, they leave you hanging. I was not at all happy with the service provided. I waited 8-9 months for the company to come fix an issue and they simply told me they can't do it. AHS will not stand up for you and will always side with their contractor. If I could I would give the company zero stars, I would.

2 + hours hold time on the phone to resolve issues.
Their call service center is in the Philippines and sometimes you cannot understand their representatives. With a name like American home shield I would expect their representatives to be based in the US so shame on AHS.

If your problem is easily resolved you're okay but if something goes wrong you are really in for a hard time. AHS will not stand up for you with issues with a contractor.
I unfortunately got a subpar contractor who created more problems than he solved. AHS did finally make the contractor come in and fix the problem but I was month without an appliance and multiple to our phone calls sitting on hold to AHS.

This is not the way it's done.

I suppose when it works, it works; but when it doesn't, watch out. Had an ice maker repair, 4 weeks later and as many visits, it's still not resolved and AHS has been ZERO help. When you can get through (average wait thirty minutes) I have asked repeatedly for them to give me a different contractor who can get the job done. Nope. Asked to speak to a supervisor. Nope. Asked a supervisor to call me back. Nope. Asked to get transferred to the cancellation department. Nope. And now begins the undoubtedly uphill climb to cancel. Absolute garbage.

I've been with this company over 20 years and all they do is bandaid things like your air conditiong unit. They tried repairing mine in 100 degree heat 5 times! Then when they could not repair it any longer, as I sweated, they sent me to a 3rd party to get a replacement at over $6,200! They don't cover the items when you really need them covered. $500+/yr plus $75 service calls for near NOTHING.
