I called AHS for a pool service. AHS only sends vendors that only work with them to deny your claim. Not only they are unethical, they will also give you the run around on the phone with their customer service so you give up. They steal your money and they should not be in business.
American Home Shield is the worst home warranty company. Don't buy their warranty when you buy a house! We bought the Shield Complete and the list of things they cover looked like it would be a good deal. First off, you'll pay $75-$100 every time you call to have service even before they know what is wrong. I had two plumbing issues - the first one two days after we moved and the plumber came out. He couldn't fix it and said he'd submit the work order to AHS. AHS wouldn't cover it so we had to pay the plumber $675. They have so many loopholes and some of them are so vague that they will quote you a section and say it applies. Then we had someone from AHS call and tell us our policy #, address and our plumbing issue and told us to call back the company- that our policy covered the plumbing issue. I was basically called a liar when I called the customer service and the call didn't end well. I should have cancelled the first week and then I would have recouped most of my $675 but I didn't thinking - well, they'll cover some other issues. So... after Thanksgiving guests left we had a stopped up toilet. I looked at the policy - they cover the toilet, replacing the wax ring, and stoppages. I called, paid the $75 service fee and the plumber again couldn't fix it in the 25 minutes he was here. The plumber submitted the work order to have the toilet pulled and snaked and AHS gave me the run around for over a week. I waited for a plumber until 9 p.m. when I was given a new dispatch order. Plumber was No Show! AHS had cancelled the appointment and the next day told me it wasn't going to cover pulling the toilet. They sited two areas of their EXCLUSIONS but neither spelled out that they wouldn't cover it. I argued with 3 customer service people and finally cancelled. I got this worthless warranty on Aug. 2,21 and I'm getting back less than half of the $675. If we have another toilet paper shortage, save this warranty for use because it isn't worth anything else. Don't buy AHS- it's worthless!
My mother received a call on October 17 telling her that she had not paid her bill for that month, I told the woman that I was her daughter and she was in the ER at that moment and I would have to call her back. My mother had a stroke 6 years ago and no longer handles her own business affairs. I called back the next day to try to find out what was going on because I could see that they had been paid. This is when we discovered that 1. There is no fax or email to send a POA. 2. They wanted me to put a woman who was in the hospital on the phone to give them permission to speak with me. When she was released, we called to see what was going and discovered they had been billing my sister's card for 20 months for an inactive policy. We canceled immediately, or so we thought. 3 days later they call again to tell us they had not been paid, they were trying to bill my sister again, it cost us $80+ as an early cancelation fee to get out of the contract. Today my sister finally got her $1800 refund, yes $1800 had she not reported her credit card stolen they would have continued to bill her and she would not have been able to resolve it because the contract was inactive and they could not find it until it did not get paid. What business today does not have email or fax to quickly resolve issues or allow people to give written permission to discuss their affairs. Just another reason I think they are shady and cannot be trusted.
American Home Shield is an organization that should be avoided at all costs. Investing money with American Home Shield establishes a business relationship with a company that has proved to breach its own agreement. If and when you need to utilize the service, the AHS people you will be dealing directly with are representatives who work out of the country and speak very poor English. In addition, they lack integrity and make no effort to uphold high standards. The fine print of your agreement with AHS implies a guarantee that AHS will profit and no guarantee that you, the homeowner, will benefit. Our personal experience with American Home Shield included being lied to, receiving NO help from any professional service providers as promised, and our having to seek counsel to obtain reimbursement. AHS representatives via telephone refused to back up their verbal promises by putting them in writing via email. They simply refused. The only "shield" that was evident was the one AHS held up to hide from their promised responsibilities. We have documented proof that AHS replies to emails sent to them by organizations such as the Department of Consumer Affairs avoid addressing customer concerns. Our very strong advice is to not consider American Home Shield for your home needs.
I have a service request open with AHS for over a month and it is impossible to get anything done. They have the worst service providers in the industry who will charge you basically 90% or so as a charge what is not included as per the AHS contract and there is no escalation or SLA's from either companies. At this point I am about to cancel my service with them as its useless to pay them an annual plan cost when the service is pathetic.
I have an issue with a freestanding ice maker. Reported issue on 7/6/2021 and am still without ice on 11/27/21. They have issued it to numerous companies, many who replaced many parts, one at a time i might add, and it still did not work. Forget trying to call and get resolution. If they don't hang up on you they placate you with words about how they will call you back and set up yet another vendor, which they do not do so you have to call again. After about three of these you finally get a vendor to call and schedule you the next month. They try to make it hard so you will give up and go away.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR HOME WARRENTY, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED AND VERY FRUSTRATED.
American Home Shield is the worst company to deal with. When I signed up the sales person said I would only have to pay a service fee of $100 and no additional costs from me out of pocket even if something needed to be replaced. That was a lie! First of all, they don't make the full contract agreement available to you until 30 days you sign up so if you saw something in the contract you didn't agree with, you wouldn't cancel within 30 days.
There are too many details to type. But basically my steamed heat boiler was leaning from the inside therefor we had no heat (and it was November in NJ). 2 months of going back and forth with AHS, it still was not fix. I ended up getting my own contractor replace the my boiler. I cancelled AHS right after that. Also, FYI- The service call center is overseas and they all speak very broken English. So I paid each month for service and received nothing from AHS at all. No reimbursement. Nothing! Please do your research and take these reviews seriously. Otherwise you will waste your money and pay a monthly fee for nothing. If there was a Zero stars, I would've chosen that. Giving a 1 star is way too generous.
AHS is a fraud company. They scam innocent people like us get the money and won't fixed or take months of Sunday to fix it. My ac went out, the company took more than a months to approve a minor fix. The customer service lied when they sell the policy. AHS said it will cover every equipment listed on the policy no matter what. The truth is they won't. If the AHS think the damage is from person, pets, or pest, they won't cover.
This company need to be investigated by the government.
Customer service (always foreign) is patronizing and could care less. Contractors they hire are the same. The plumber they sent out to my house after 5 days of waiting asked to borrow my tools. Wanted me to pay $400 to repair my kitchen sink leak. First time using AHS and will never use them again.
Bottom of the barrel contractors, horrible customer service and they choose not to answer the phone when you are trying to cancel the contract.
If I would be able to give this company a 0, I would. We have been without air conditioning for a month now. They assigned our case to a contractor that not only did not repair the heating pump/AC unit, but damaged it even further. Afterwards, they changed it to another contractor that never showed up. Finally we talked to them this morning. After their customer service representative assured us the she left a voicemail for yet a third contractor, we called the contractor and guess what? There was no voicemail to leave a message on. We called American Hone Shield back. There were no notes about the last discussion we had with their representative about the third contractor. When you are asking for a supervisor they always say that the "supervisor is in a meeting". Offshore horrible lying deceiving customer service that are there just to cash a paycheck. To be lied to again and again is awful! To be in Florida weather without air conditioning for over a month is also awful. We waisted our money. We will cancel our account.
Seems that in rural settings they dont pay people enough to even want to show up. Even though I'm within 60 miles of a 250-******* city they contracted with someone 2 hrs away and expected him to do it for $120. They cant even find a contractor to call me. I gave them till noon tomorrow, Thats 48 hrs plus another 4, We"d like to get the service we paid for. Can you say Breach of contract...
We had a water leak in the master bathroom. The first plumber would not get to it for a week. The second plumber did not have a leak detector. The third plumber said it was in the wall and needed approval to fix. American home shield never told us anything. We had to keep calling to get information. Canceled service and called another plumber who could fix the leak first visit. They tried twice to give me free service to stay although they still would not fix the leak.
They take your $$ & can't & won't provide service. They charge fees without getting a authorization or even sending any kind of renewal reminder. Even going through & trying to deal with via BBB does NOT help. I have NEVER had to deal with a company so unethical. I paid some idiot AHS sent to check out the central A/C in one my properties. This the company AHS sent who said it needs to be replaced. They would NOT authorize it instead they wanted us to pay $4000 & that they would pay the balance. I had to buy 4 room A/C units so my tenants wouldn't have to suffer. Well I will make AHS suffer in the worst possible way they can imagine. Hit them where it hurts as they say. Once I'm done they will be begging for mercy. My advice to ALL stay AWAY from AHS. Pay a little more & get some other company. Enough is enough.
This company is the worst. They have taken over $1200 from us and no answers except to say they will contact us within 24-48 hours and they never call- we need to call them just to be told this over and over. Now we can't cancel it and no refund. They had no problem taking our money but now they don't want to hold up to their FAKE PROMISES! There has to be some consumer advocacy for companies like this ripping off consumers, veterans and homeowners living on fixed expenses. I will warn everyone about this company. Save your money and don't go with American home shield. Customer service is the worst! The most disrespectful you will ever encounter.
Horrible customer service, why is it ever time you call it's a person not in the United States, it's a foreigner and you can't even understand what they are saying. It's like each person is reading out of the same book they reject everything you put in request for. Ever person they sent out are lackluster and liar. None of the numbers work you get sent back to the same site. [Thanking about canceling my service] and moving on.
After 3 1/2 months AHS still has not repaired our leaking bathroom faucet. The first contractor stripped the shower faucet and did not repair the sink faucet. Its been over 2 months to get the report from the second contractor, that they said would be 24-48 hours. Customer service sucks and have no idea what they are doing. I would not recommend this company to anyone. We have 2 homes with their service and I will be cancelling them both! I am rating a 1 because there is nothing lower...
Going on two years trying to get our refrigerator repaired. Five different service companies have come out and still not repaired. They've replace the operating system once and the control panel on the front twice. Still the same problem. I don't know what they want to know. Ever repair person says it should be replace but that means costs to AMS... Other things we've had done worked well, I don't understand what the problem with this is.
Let me start by saying that I have had an AHS warranty for over 10 years - until now. This has been the absolute worst experience and I will never use, nor recommend, them again. I put in a service request for a new water heater on Sept. 11 - it is now Oct 5th and I JUST TODAY received the water heater (that's over 3 weeks with NO HOT WATER!). The good news is that it finally came today. The bad news is that the unit that was received was damaged pretty badly. After ANOTHER 45 phone call of being put on hold every 2-3 minutes by their customer service reps and hearing roosters crowing in the background (yes, roosters!), I had no answers and still no hot water. So I was left with no alternative but to have the damaged unit installed. The plumbers assured me it will not impact the functionality of the unit but since I am not a plumber, I have no idea if that is true or not. So I guess I wait to see if the unit works and if not, I'll have to call my new warranty company to get it fixed. Save yourself a lot of time and frustration and go somewhere else.
Refrigerator has been down for three weeks, and each time I call I get someone who speaks really weak English, and always apologizing. I don't need to know you're sorry… I already know this! Anyway, mother board went out and they have been waiting on getting a real from the technician, Five days, and all they need to tell you is what you already know, the motherboard is not fixable. AHS you are joke and once I get this figured out I am taking all of my homes off American home shield warranties.
