Worst experience ever. They have so many loopholes in their contract, they don't have to pay for any repairs. They said my drainpipe leak was caused by an act of God so they didn't cover it. How am I supposed to prove that God didn't come down from heaven and break my drainpipe? I had to pay their plumber $285 on top of the $100 service call fee, and the pipe is still leaking. The contract says I can cancel at any time, but I had to pay $41.66 "administrative fee" to do so. Run, don't walk, away from these scammers.
Run, don't walk, away from these thieves and scammers. They send over the worst scum/criminal contractors, tore up my closet looking for a slab leak - I did not want them to fix my leak because of the damage they did, I wanted to hire my own plumbers, but when I requested a cash out - you can forget it! AHS lies and says they never received the invoice from the plumbers regarding the slab leak. The plumbers assured me they did indeed send the invoice, not once, but several times. When you try and get a supervisor, good luck! They lie and lie and lie, and you never get a dime. I am a fairly new customer, and will be calling my credit card to complain and try to get my money back. BE SMART PEOPLE DO NOT EVEN THINK OF PAYING THESE SCUMBAGS 1 CENT. THESE REVIEWS TELL THE WHOLE STORY. How these criminals can still be in business is beyond me.
They do not deliver what they promise! Cheap contractors that are not accountable and they even do not follow their own policies. Out to make a buck and zero customer service!
AHS has never come through for any of my important and expensive home issues. Every time I have had an emergency leak or water heater/air conditioning emergency, they were never able to find someone qualified to help with the issues. Yesterday I called because there was a leak on-going at my house that needed to be addressed right away and all AHS said was "Sorry we cannot reach any plumbers" now, while there are tons of plumbers out there available. Finally I had to find my own plumber and pay $600 out of my own pocket because AHS can never address any emergency issues even though they claim that is part of their services. I had no choice as the damages from the leak would just get worse by the hour. I am so sick of their service and am looking for a better home warranty
Instead of buying an AHS warranty save your premiums and pay for your own repairs.
My home central A/C units are 18 years old and use a refrigerant that hasn't been made since 2013. It will be obsolete in 2023. I've had an American Home Shield policy since 2012 and I've had trouble with one of the two units for years. It froze last year because all of the coolant leaked out and caused ceiling damage. AHS refuses to replace the unit which has a bad motor as well as coolant leak. All mechanical equipment reaches a point when it can no longer be effectively repaired and must be replaced but they will only pay a very small portion of the cost of coolant which is only guaranteed for 30 days. (Cost to me is $1800) A/C contractors other than those who work for AHS refuse to attempt repair as their reputations matter to them. They also demand that I complete the repair or replacement within 10 days which is unrealistic at best, and by their own admission. It's a scam.
The worst customer service from any company I have ever had to deal with. I would give them 0 stars if I could. Richard, the rep I spoke SHOULD consider a change in career because he has NO skills to provide customer service
Take your money and do not provide the service, then they mark the service as completed when no one has ever came out to take care of the problem. They was contacted by the furnace repair person they assigned to the job and told BY the repair person they contracted that they do not service our area... BUT THEY STILL TOOK OUR MONEY AND MARKED IT IN THEIR SYSTEM AS COMPLETED! I have contacted them 2 times now for the refund and still have not received it as of yet. Very untrustworthy in our opinion. No way to do business.
Not only did they not find me a plumber I had to pay for it myself and they have not given me back my $125 service fee! I canceled my contract and they went into my account and charge (stole) another month payment! This is THE WORST company EVER
I have literally spent hours on the phone speaking to multiple people ( most I couldn't understand). I am so frustrated! I simply ordered filters for my furnace( which I have done before) through their website. They sent the wrong size so I simply wanted them replaced. Their website says call customer service for a problem! They have been useless! I still do not have this issue resolved! They are totally incompetent!
This is a complaint about American Home Shield (AHS). I have had several plumbing problems. In each case, AHS has sent out plumbers from Plumbers Incorporated, a company in Riverside. The technician from Plumbers, Inc will diagnose the problem, and then no one gets back to me. When I call, there is always some sort of excuse: "We needed to get authorization" is a common one. The left hand does not know what the right is doing. When I call, the AHS phone service operators have no idea what Plumbers Inc doing. The people on the phone at Plumbers, Inc clearly do not want to give good service. Recently AHS arranged for a technician from Plumbers Incorporated to come to my house on 1/14/22 to look at a toilet that was leaking at the base. He made the diagnosis, took my $75 from my credit card as the service fee, and said he would need to get the parts. I received a phone call on 1/15/22 which stated he'd return on 1/16. He never came or called. And yet the job is listed as "Completed" on the AHS website. I called Plumbers Incorporated. They said "Of course he can't come. That's a Sunday. We don't work then." Then why was I told he'd come then? No call or email since then. I finally called Plumber's Incorporated yesterday; no one picked up in any of the several times I called.
I then called AHS. The person on the phone was barely comprehensible.
AHS schtick is to blame everything on the subcontracted technician and pretend that this is the problem.
They have no desire to give good service.
Both AHS and Plumbers Inc give you the runaround. A toilet needs to be fixed IMMEDIATELY. Plumbers Inc needs to go out of business. And then, nothing. No phone call from Plumbers Inc. Today is 1/26 and nothing.
I am totally disappointed in the results of a diagnosis and neglect of the lying contractor sent to fix our washer (Hotshot) who lied and said the washer was irreparable. Waited until the 30 days expired to dispute their diagnosis and get a 2nd opinion, changed their story and said our washer was repairable knowing their technicians stated Samsung appliances aren't, when the same part, the washer stabilizer. Has been replaced more than 3 times in a 2 year span...
They refuse to: send another contractor within the 30 days, allow me to speak to a supervisor or someone in authorization to discuss a cash out

I had the service for over 2 years and only requested a job one time. That one job (a leaky pipe under my sink) was denied because it "isn't covered". They still charged me the $125 service call. The plan I have explicitly covered this item. Overall I spent $600+ over 24ish months with the company only to be denied. If you like shoveling money into a firepit and watching it burn definitely sign up for this service.
BTW - I found someone on thumbtack to fix the issue they denied for only $200.
In August 2021, I contacted AHS to file a claim on a leaking water heater. They opened a service request and it had a "pending" label for over a month. I called and got the poor customer service hold line. Finally, they said they would give approval for an outside contractor in my case as no one was available from them. I found an outside contractor, but COVID and lack of workmen delayed their service trip. I finally got an appointment. I went back to file the paperwork on my choice of contractor and AHS had deleted my service request! So I had to start all over and pay another $100 fee. By now it is December 2021. I refiled and they once again sent me the notice that I was approved for an outside contractor. So I got an estimate from the same one I had hoped to use before. When I sent the estimate along with the info they required me to file, they responded by sending me two of THEIR approved contractor, who both called for me to make an appointment! That would be another $100 dollars and I already had an estimate from one they said was approved who could do the work in a day! I still have not resolved this. I called them today (1-21-2022) and pointed out the mistake they had made. They said they would have to check with their "boss" and would call me back in 15 min. That was about 8 hours ago. I am tired of having a water heater that has to have pans under it and wondering when it is going to just quit completely. This is lousy customer service all around, and I cannot recommend this expensive company that does not even know what it is doing. Every time I call I get a different customer service rep and I have to give all my information all over again! At this point I have paid 3 times for someone to come out and they just keep starting me all over. I am done!
I would like to be able to leave a review on the actual service. Unfortunately they made that impossible. We made an appointment for them to send someone out this morning for an estimate on a major plumbing issue. They confirmed this morning we were home. An hour before the appointment they cancelled on us, claiming to be overbooked. If that was the case they would have rescheduled, not cancel.
DO NOT BUY AHS American Home Shield Home Warranty. You will waste time and money. They used to be a good company but now it is a shyster company scamming lots of unsuspecting home buyers. Just read BBB, trustpilot, Yelp, Facebook, Google reviews, it's a nightmare to have a legitimate claim taken care of. Dreadful customer service, horrible wait times, disconnections, no call backs, bogus diagnosis and claim denials. Nightmare of a company. NIGHTMARE! Trying to cancel your contract results in the same waste of time and money. The worst company on the planet. I don't know how they can be allowed to continue to operate. Shame on them. Disgusting thieves.
This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Recently my tankless water heater stopped working. I called for the service request. They assigned so classed service professional for the job known as
A AND B PLUMBING SERVICES LLC, I called this company (A and B) at least 50 times but no response until three weeks later. Finally, the technician come and told me the control board is bad and since this part is under manufacturer warranty, so AHS will not fix it.
I called the AHS and ask them to pay for the labor because parts are under warranty for this unit. They told me to wait for one week our service department is reviewing your request. After calling them at least five times, finally, the answer was given to me a big NO since my unit parts are under warranty so we will not cover labor cost at all. The AHS gave me the punishment because my heater was under manufacturer parts warranty. I tried to explain to them, but they said NO. You will not cover this service request. Now I must hire another plumbing company to restart from the scratch because AHS's technician refused to come back.
In a conclusion, if your unit is under any kind of manufacturer warranty ASH will fix it and you are responsible for it fixing with out-of-pocket money.
Imagine in winter, I have been living with six weeks without hot water because of the AHS warranty otherwise I would have hired somebody and fixed the unit in two days. I wasted six weeks struggling with the AHS warranty.
Poor Service and will only approve Cheap Quality Replacements. AHS Representatives will commit but their authorization department will disapprove.
This company is a scam! They never fix anything and waste your money and time. Do not get this home warranty. Save yourself a lot of grief! They will take your money and make an excuse not to fix anything every time they send somebody to repair. DO NOT BECOME A VICTIM LIKE ME!
AMERICAN HOME SHIELD is a fraud company. They take money every month religiously and when it is time to fix the appliances they don't do due diligence. I have a dishwasher that was leaking and when we 1st called they sent a person to check and he said rubber around the door needs to be replaced and next day he came in and put the rubber seal and said it is all taken care of. When we used a dishwasher on the same day, it started to leak again and we called the customer service again saying it is not fixed and needs to be looked at again. And they said they opened a ticket with resolving department and it takes 48 hours to call us back with the status. Since we didn't hear from them we called them after few days and said to customer agent that we haven't received a call from resolution department. For this again they opened a ticket with resolution department for not calling and asked us to wait again 48hrs (this is going on from almost a month n still waiting for them to call us). Every time we call them to ask for the status or to dispatch a new service person to fix, they seemingly need us to pay $75 again to send a new service guy to fix the same issue that initially started. We already paid $75 initially and that work is incomplete and now want us to pay again.
I do not understand this company there is no proper person that I can talk to or they do not call us back as promised, Every time it is a new agent to whom we have to repeat the history of what happened and how it has been a month and still not fixed, other than giving a solution or transferring to their supervisor they open a ticket again, and it is a same drill… wait for 48hrs. God this company is into cheating customers and extracting money but when time of fixing they have millions of reasons.
Well my Dishwasher is STILL NOT fixed even after a month and still going back and forth with customer service to know when they will call us with update or send a new service guy to fix. Very disappointing, AMERICAN HOME SHIELD is a fraud company, be careful n save yourself by not choosing them.
If you have a problem and need to talk with someone that has any authority at AHS it is impossible. Just a call center in another country is all you get and they are no help, if you can understand what they say. My Dryer has been out for 6 weeks and not repaired yet.
