They charge you $100 to just talk to someone. The first time, it was a technicality and the garage door springs weren't covered, only the actual motor. Our icemaker stopped working, it has been 2 months and 6 repairman visits later and its still not working. Rather than to replace, they want to send another repairman out just in case. This is false advertising at its best. Oh, and in the 2 months that we have been without our ice maker, they are still taking their monthly fee out.

I put in a request to repair my bathroom faucet as it was leaking. The plumber comes out and said it needed to be replaced. Problem is they will only replace it with a chrome builder grade faucet. The original faucet was oil rubbed bronze. Plumber said you can ask for a cash out and they will give you the amount of money to replace it with builder grade. No problem I will take it and put it towards the one I want. Plumber said he would put the paperwork in and to call AHS in an about an hour to request this because they would not call and let me know about this option. I waited a day and made the call, but AHS said it had no info about this claim. They placed me on hold and allegedly called the plumbing company. They responded with nobody answered at the plumbing company and a message had been left. This went on for 3 days! I finally got a representative on the phone with AHS and placed them on hold. Meanwhile I called the plumbing company and they said we have 10 people answering the phones they have not called. I merged the 2 calls and tried to work it out. The rep kept saying that the plumbing company need to file the request for the cash out. The owner of the plumbing company kept saying they had already done that and even gave him the confirmation number. The AHS employee kept saying the same thing over and over. Needless to say we finally get transferred to the the claims department where the gentleman finally approved the cash out. I was told I would get the check in 10-14 business days. I have still have not received the check. When I call to speak to someone all they can say is that the plumbing company has to request the cash out. I have come to the conclusion that I will probably never see the money! They are quick to charge my card every month, but I can't get anything from them. So, I have canceled my contract! I have taken the money that goes to them each month and placed it into a savings account. In the end they will not cover anything major and will only give you a credit of X amount of dollars towards the replacement cost. Save your money and sanity do not get AMERICAN HOME SHEILD!

This company deserves negative reviews more than any other company. They made us wait 3 months on dishwasher fix because they said parts are not available. After three months of waiting they are now stalling us on replacing the dishwasher saying that they do not have the diagnoses report from technician. Every time we call they say we have to wait for 72 hrs, which keeps happening for last 45 days. And not to mention those hours-after hours wait on call, explaining everything on every single calls! This has become a nightmare for us! It is extremely hard to to believe that his kind of company can actually operate! They are only able to fix things which you can fix by yourself watching youtube videos. Any problem which needs a bit depth knowledge on a specific appliance, they can not fix it and they are not willing to compensate for that.
They are fraud! After 3 plus month we are still waiting on our dishwasher fix!

I placed a service call for a plumbing issue on June 9. On June 11 they charged me my $75 service fee. But the technician, the only one in my area willing to work with them, could not come out to my house until June 28. I can't go with a plumbing issue that long, and after multiple phone calls and request to have a supervisor call me, I ended up canceling my service request on June 20. July 8,18 days later, and I am still waiting for my $75 service fee to be refunded to me. I've called them four times for my refund. And I keep getting the same runaround, the prior rep didn't process it correctly. I filed a better business bureau claim, but now I am letting everyone else know to be aware of this company. I've been with them for five years, they started out excellent! But now that everything is outsourced, you can't get any help. None!

I pay 5 month then my garage door spring brook the contractor they give me does not want to replace the broken spring and fix the issue (spring sold in Amazon website and replace the system is not covered) and recommend to replace the system for $1050. I called local guy will replace the system for $560.
Why I pay home insurance if they will not fix and I have to make 10 phone call and search where I can buy the broken spring and call local contractor to verify the price?

Every time I have had the unfortunate opportunity to need to call AHS I have been left wishing I never got them. Every time you call, expect 45 min hold times. Once they do answer, you can't communicate with the rep because English is their second language. They tell you everything is taken care of but really they are just trying to get you off the phone and hope you just get frustrated and take care of the problem yourself. I tried for months to get help with my tenants swamp cooler. They kept having problems with their technicians and it ended up CONVENIENTLY going past my renew date. They promised me that if this situation would occur, they would still take care of it. The situation happened and once my policy expired they couldn't care less about me. This company is all about doing the bare minimum!

Horrible Service in an Untimely Manner
July 5, 2022

It is difficult to get anything repaired correctly. There is no form to sign off on that the work was completed to satisfaction. On several occasions, the contractor(s) said they had ordered another part but I later found out that they closed the ticket and told American Home Shield that the item was working when they left. American Home Shield has done nothing to resolve these issues. I had 2 or 3 different people look at my fridge over the course of three months and the problem has never been fixed.

No one Communicates with anyone to get anything resolved so easy for them to keep transferring and keep transferring you to somebody that still doesn't know what needs to be done to get it fixed. I paid for Electronic Plan coverage to be added to my AHS warranty. Took my money and they still won't add the coverage. AHS keeps telling me to call Allstate, then Allstate tells me to contact AHS. So many emails, chats, and phone calls over a week now! Very frustrated. There is no good customer service anymore!

RUN!
June 29, 2022

I'm sure you've heard this a thousand times..."If I could give it 0 stars, I would." Well, let me just say for me, this has never been more true. As I sit here with contract in hand, I have had the contractor come twice and tell me a part needs to be replaced, but AHS won't let them replace it because it is not completely broken and hasn't caused a mechanical failure YET. The crazy thing is, the malfunctioning garage door is what caused further damage to the unit. Instead of AHS backing up their contract and providing customer service, they decided that it was in their best interest to only piece the system back together so that they can get me to spend more money after the 30 day window for them to come back after the part completely breaks. It's not good enough that the part is severely damaged, they want it to break. That's just like telling a patient not to go to the doctor until their body has completely failed. All I can tell you is to run from AHS!

Manager finally called this evening at 9:50 PM EST! AHS have been telling me that a manager would call me for the last 3 days, lied one time and said that someone tried to call me and this evening called me at 10PM! When I explained to the manager that I wanted to cancel the policy, she said that I had to call back in the morning and talk to the 'client retention' dept because, get this... they were closed then. Totally horrible, horrible company! Try to avoid at all costs!

Horrible company and overall experience
June 22, 2022
Previous review

One of the most horrible companies. Had called them multiple times for various issues on parents home. The contractors that they use are incompetent, always not on time and rude. AHS customer services is also the same. They promise to call back, reach back with a manager etc, but never follow through. Not recommending anyone to use them, at least in Houston, TX where A/Cs breakdown all the time and other issues related with flooding. Also, good luck in having them pay to replace appliances. They will pull every excuse not to honor their contract because they know that it won't be worthwhile for customers to take it to court, or follow a legal angle. They only care on the $50 or $100 deductible they charge on top of premiums, outsource ALL their services including the help desk, with employees and affiliates that are probably paid to low, taking away any incentive to do a good job, or help a customer. Horrible company and group of people!

June 21, 2022

Worst company ever! Their agent on the phone mentioned how inefficient the company is lol. The website is down; no manager is on-site. My notes from yesterday are not in the system, etc.
It is the worst experience I have ever had to call a company!

WORST COMPANY EVER!
June 20, 2022

I WISHED I WAS WARNED.
If I could rate a negative infinity I would. I had an emergency issue on the weekend and was told I needed to wait 4 hours for "Dispatch" to locate someone. If "Dispatch" could not assist, they would provide authorization for me to contact an available Contractor. ALL LIES. When I called back, they said I had to wait another hour. I waited another hour and then was told (WAIT FOR IT) by the 3rd representative all of the open businesses or ContractorS in my area are on their "DO NOT Contact list". The previous two representatives never mentioned a list. Been trying to reach Corporate to no avail. Customer service is in the Philippines and no help at all. WE SHOULD ALL BAN TOGETHER FOR A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. THEY ARE HORRIBLE.

I've been with AHS for over 4 years. My contract started off at $40+ and now it's $61+.
1. Hold times are usually long.
2. Speaking with someone you can understand is hard.
3. If you need to escalate an issue, they leave you on hold hoping you will hang up so you won't do the end of call survey.
4. I wanted to cancel my contract and they told me they will charge me an "administrative fee".
5. My A/C is not working. When I scheduled the appointment I was told I would have to wait 4 days before the repair company could call me just to schedule the appointment. When I tried to cancel that appointment and reschedule with another company I was told by AHS due to AHS regulations I could not schedule with another company. I made one phone call and found a company to come out the same day.
6. I had another experience with AHS where my hot water heater needed to be replaced. The repair company came out and put in a request with AHS to have the water heater replaced because it could not be repaired. Once I received the estimate from the repair company, I would still need to come out of pocket over an additional $600, and they were trying to charge me for parts I didn't need. Once I questioned the repair company they stopped returning my calls so I bought a water heater from Home depot for something over $500 (cheapest they had for the size I needed) and paid someone $350 to install it, including the additional parts needed. AHS sent me a check for $474, which didn't event cover the cost for the cheapest water heater comparable to what I previously had.
7. AHS makes it very hard to leave a legitimate review. Don't be fooled by all the "positive" reviews you see. I will be cancelling my contract.
A home warranty isn't worth it. Especially not with American Home Shield. Dealing with the hold times. Scheduling service calls online doesn't always answer all your questions. Repair companies that are not vetted, who take advantage of customers. $100 per service call plus additional costs for parts IS NOT WORTH IT!

Had an issue with my refrigerator and the team didn't do anything for couple of days. On follow up, assigned someone who called and said they are not able to come. On next follow up, they started looking up a new one, this is after my call a day later. Assigned someone and that person comes in and say they don't work with this brand refrigerator. Follow up next day and still don't have any vendor assigned to take care of the issue. This is a week into after requesting for the service, the service price charged on the day the service was requested and the monthly premium have been increasing without any issues. This company is a big rip off. Unless you push for anything they do nothing for their customers. The only thing they know is to keep you on hold and indicate that they have your request in dispatch queue and will need 28-48 hours to get a vendor assigned. That vendor would take few more days to give you an appointment. When asked what are options, they say no options, the insurance is not liable for anything but to provide you reference with vendor. This is terrible customer experience and I wouldn't recommend this to even my enemies. I am off them and if possible sue them for all the losses in time and money.

Worst company
June 14, 2022

Worst experience ever. Been talking to a Philippines call center 5 times and their English is far from OK. A contractor gave an analysis on an item I didn't report on and "forgot" the details my repair order was against and it was declined. I can't get a hold of the contractor to ask them why they reported incorrectly and AHS trust their view even they themselves can get in contact with the contractor. Dodgy company

Poor service
June 14, 2022

As I can say is wow, I've been without AC since May 12 2022. The service tech has been out, I paid the extra money out of pocket for the freon in excess of $500 for a leak detection along with the initial charge. Contractor submitted price for new evaporator coil which was denied by AHS, reason was priced too high. I'm still waiting on AHS to find a less expensive alternative. I along with my wife call AHS at least once a day and get a different story every conversation. I've requested a call from management and sent emails with NO response. I tried giving an online review which was blocked. Does anyone have an idea of a solution?
The only reason they got a one star is there was nothing lower

They even do not deserve a star. This insurance company is nothing to but rip you off. They are nothing but punch of crooks. They are useless and do not use them.

Uses vague words in the contract "modification" to get out of paying for repairs. For my AC UNIT, that is covered per the contract, I was asked to cover $3800 of the repair because they were deemed "modifications" required to do the repair: These modifications included $422 for a labor and evaporative.

Please do not use these crooks

The employees just read scripts. They don't listen. They don't care what your issue is. U can NEVER speak to a manager. It is like having NO coverage. When the contractors do show up over a month after your first call they don't know what they are doing. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on this HORRIBLE company

Rip off Company
June 7, 2022

My name is Jessica Farr. I have been a customer of AHS for almost 20 years. When it comes to replacing an item beyond repair, this company finds a way to get out of paying. I have a 22 year old condenser unit outside and the unit is beyond repair and needs to be replaced. AHS warranty company states it is my fault, the system mechanical failure is not normal wear and tear and I am responsible for replacing it. The company replaced the inner unit last year when it was beyond repair and I still had to pay almost 2500. 00 dollars. They wiggle out of most coverage and leave the customer to pay. I have paid in all of these years for a less than minimal return. I an disappointed, I would not recommend this company, run.
