ADT are extortionists and thieves. Please don't ever enter into any contract with this company. They will lie, steal, cheat and ultimately provide a horrible service with a horrible product and refuse to stand behind any of it!
I wish I could give 0 stars. They were untruthful from the beginning. Starting with the salesman who locked me in to a 3 year contract without fully explaining what it would entail, to the tech guy who came out to install the absolute bare minimum and then also tried to charge us another $2k. Then a year in the very ugly control panel that they could only install in our living room stopped working. Said it was not connecting to the server... I called to have them fix their own broken tech, and was told they could send out a person to look at it -- and it would cost $65 to start and who knows how much they would need to replace. At the end of the day this company just wants to bleed you dry and does not care at all about your safety. Also when I called in for all these issues I was easily on hold for more than 30 minutes each time -- awfully glad it wasn't an emergency...
So I called ADT 3 times too cancel my ADT Blue I told them I was in the middle of a big remodel and not able too use it at this time.
I actually have had the thing sitting in an unopened box they sent me a year ago!
My fault for not planning better but they totally would not help me they said if you want to cancel pay us $1100 because you signed a 3 year agreement.
I've been paying these guys 1 year for nothing! I never even took the unit out of the box.

ADT scheduled A routine inspection of my system they advise my wife someone would be there between 2 and 5 pm
I rushed home and got in at 2 o'clock my wife works in an environment where mobile phones are not permitted on site and waited until 530 when my wife came in with a reply from ADT on calling ADT I was informed that they contacted my wife no reply so the engineer just didn't turn up what a complete and utter unprofessional organisation I asked ADT representative what I was paying for and he couldn't answer
Simply don't waste your money or your time asking ADT any questions about home security as they seem to be in the wrong

We needed a security system. What we received was a total and complete pain in the $#*!, cannot wait to cancel
My alarm went off while I was home on 6/18. No one from ADT called me. I had to walk around my house at night in the dark with mace looking for why my basement door was open. No one called me from ADT. I called them on 6/21 to ask why. Someone was suppose to get back to me within 24 hours and and didn't. I called again on 6/23 and relayed the same information and was transferred to another department where no one picked up. I think they have a staffing shortage so go elsewhere. I plan on finding another alarm company... BUYER BEWARE!
ADT are scammers, trick consumers into long contracts. Worse customer services. ADT should be sued. Class action suite should be giving to any and everyone who obtain ADT services. I will never get recommend ADT for me or any of my friends and family. I will be sure to let everyone to stay away from ADT.
As a tech business we require an alarm system to function. After a power outage the system went down. We were notified by ADT on a Saturday night. We setup for a technician to come out on the Monday during business hours. At 5:15pm Monday night as we closed for the day I called and spoke to someone in tech support at ADT. The lady said that she couldn't understand why the technician didn't show up, but she took my email address and advised that she woulf update me as soon as she had more. It is now Wednesday and we are calling back again. This time they are telling us that they can't get anyone out until next Monday. Our facility will be without an alarm for over a week at that point. Wow. Talk about a vunerability. We have 3 locations with them and have been a good paying faithful customer. As we add our 4th location, guess what. I'm shopping for alarm companies. Sorry Telus and ADT - you did this to yourself.
An ongoing problem with my alarm/security system. They sent a tech out many times in the past 8 months. Told me no charge this is the 2nd time they did this. They have been trying to fix my system for 8 months. All they keep telling me is I need to upgrade my system. Full disclosure when the system is installed you should state you need to replace it every 5 years. Debited my account for 70.00 without my knowledge or consent. This was supposed to be no charge. I want my money back and I want to understand how a company such as them has the right to go in and take money without permission When I go on line it asks me if I approve the transaction. That means I have to give permission. Now I have to wait till they get good and ready to return it. They clearly need to be charged with stealing money and taking advantage of a senior citizen. They need to disclose if you put your account on their website to pay a bill that they can go in any time and take whatever money they want. I now have to wait 5 days or more to get my money back. So now they are giving me 2 months credit. They are giving me nothing I now have 60 dollars in bank charges that were incurred because checks bounced due to them taking money they were not entitled to. I am on a fixed income they have left me with no money to eat till the money that they took is replaced.
Tech support has NO IDEA what they are doing, no training, reading from guide book, cannot answer the simplest question. Each person tells you something different, and nothing works to fix a problem. This company is running neck and neck with Cablevision as the worst company that takes your money every month and provides endless hours of frustration.
First off, customer service is an absolute joke. If I could…negative stars.
Called to have a camera installed over our garage. Guy on the phone said upfront charge is $99, nothing due on day of installment, and $99 added extra for the next three months to cover rest of equipment NOT including the upcoming billing cycle. Cool. Paid the $99 upfront. Guy came to install two days later and when he was done asked how were we paying. We told him what the guy on the phone said and he just laughed and said no it doesn't work that way. And continued to insist we pay now. We paid. Upcoming billing cycle (8 days later) we got charged an extra $109 (cause apparently taxes were not included at first). So basically, we paid over $300 out of the total $400 in the first 10 days of the billing cycle when we were not planning on doing so. Thankfully we have the money to pay that much unexpectedly, but not everyone will have that luxury. If you call the customer service with any problem, they will always…ALWAYS…hangup on you without resolving the issue. Next five years are going to be rough.
The equipment broke completely in 3 months. Customer service never answers the phone. They said it would cost me $60 for a service call to fix their own faulty stuff. They told me to " read the fine print". A fraudulent, unreliable company. Do not get this service unless you are completely insane.
I had major problems with ADT. Their control panel kept calling fire and police with no input from anyone in this household. I cancelled with them on 5/30/22, and still they charged me for a service call where the man did nothing after showing up 6 hours late. Then they did not process the cancellation until 6/13/22. So they want me to pay another amount for service in July. I am being held hostage because I have them on auto pay to my credit card. Don't auto pay these folks as you will not be able to get any resolution for their billing errors.
I regret getting involved with ADT. The customer service isn't very good, and you get bounced around and put on hold. The system itself is very basic and I feel I could have found a better system for much less. I am now in a 36-month contract with a company I would rather not deal with. The only way to get out of the contract is to pay them 75% of what is left on the contract. No question that one can find a better alarm system and get it monitored for much less. Do not sign a contract with ADT as you will be joining the thousands of folks who wish they hadn't. The six months guarantee does not have much value and is basically just a marketing tool. Read the reviews on Yelp and elsewhere. This is a one-star company and should be avoided.
I am familiar with alarm systems from my previous employment.
1. Mysteriously, one particular door alarm would alert anytime we were on a RV trip. Cost me $60 to have a tech tell me nothing was wrong and I am sure the Sheriff wasn't happy.
2. The system only alerts you that a sensor requires a battery or a new sensor only at 3:00 am. Never did I receive, beep, beep… during normal waking hours.
3. The straw that broke the camel's back was that a smoke detector kept alerting, at 3:00 am, that the battery was low after being replaced twice. ADT advised that they had to send a "Specialist" ($250) in about 2 weeks to replaced the flawed detector.
I just discontinued my account and ordered consumer reports pick of do it yourself systems.
I have an inside camera that all of the sudden has a water droplet in the viewer. Not sure how it got there and the camera is a mobile one that I can move around and sit on a shelf or wherever so it is not attached to the house but is on the service. They want to send a tech out to troubleshoot the camera when I could mail it in and have it assessed. They are telling me it is 59 bucks just for assessment and they may or may not be able to fix it bc it may or may not be their issue to cover. Ah ok... I pay almost 70 bucks in monitoring fees and if ANYTHING goes wrong they don't cover they crap they put in the house? Not what the dude who installed stuff told me at all. I am SUPER NOT HAPPY. Now I have a camera that, I am hoping will recover but what if it does not. The droplet is right in the viewer so I can't use it and I am not paying 59 bucks for them to come out here for no reason. If it was a washer, my washer, totally got that but this is their camera... one I am paying to use. It is like paying a service charge for comcast or verizon (which I refuse to do) b/c I am paying for your service and your crap is not working so you need to fix it or discontinue billing me. I can find much cheaper services, and use my own stuff. Only had this service for 2 years, actually less than 2 years.
While you feel great having the system, anytime you have to call for anything it is a HORRIBLE experience
We're new homeowners and an ADT representative came up to us and convinced us to sign up. WORST MISTAKE. We pay 70 a month for a 2 year contract and the cameras have sucked from the start. Constantly going in and out the first month. They finally went completely out and they're telling us that we have to pay $60 for a guy to come fix it. Really? We have to pay because your equipment sucks? Please, please, please - RUN away from this company and go with something more simple like a ring camera. Totally not worth the hassle.
If I could rate ADT as negative 100 stars I would. This is literally the worst company I have ever worked with. We have two houses with ADT alarms and on the two recent occasions (in the past 3 months) where we have had to get an engineer to come in as the alarm repeatedly kept ringing at 3am the response was appalling. It took them over 2 months to sort out the first occasion and we are still waiting for an engineer for the second occasion and it has already been over a week. You wait for hours on the phone to speak to someone who promises you someone will come and sort out the issue at a specific time. You wait inside all day and no one ever turns up. You call them and they say that the engineer cancelled (but they never bother to let you know). You book in again... they promise you the same again... no one turns up again. Only when you write in to complain do they give you a £30 voucher with M&S... what a total joke. I would NEVER recommend this company and as soon as we are in a position to change companies I will do so without hesitation. Anyone would be better than ADT.
Answer: Difficult to reach them and even more difficult to reach someone who can assist accurately. A lot of billing hassles.
Answer: No $60 call out service charge anytime there are any issues including dying batteries.
