I came across Gerald, and he reassured me over and over that I would not be signing a contract. He then sent me a form, stating that it was just simply to check my credit, since I was financing the equipment. After trying to cancel, I was told that I had signed a three-year contract. I can never reach anyone to contact me back, and management has gotten my information to call me back, but no one ever calls back. I see why they have such a low rating. Had I come across these ratings before, I would have never signed up. ADT has always been a big name in the security world, so I had assumed that I was signing up with a good company, which, evidently, so many people are learning the hard way. There needs to be a class action lawsuit against ADT!
I have a $175 a month contract. It took four visits to get a technician to install system correctly. The camera never were clear. My contract includes fees for technicians at no cost. I have been offline for 3-4 months. They never called to inform me. I did call them numerous times. I am still off line. They never called to inquire why my 24/7 monitored system was offline. I made it clear when I installed the system that my home had been vandalized. They put in antiquated systems in my home. They did not utilize 2023 technology. The CCTV cameras are old technology. And never showed clear photos. They don't back up footage. They put in old keypads instead of digital on my licks. They prefer Google. They have absolutely zero to offer. The customer service department speaks to you without asking for the password. The technicians say when they are in my home they can't contact ADT on the phone. I have everything recorded. They are not a company that I trust with my security. I never was notified by them that I was offline. They are a joke. They don't honor their contracts. To remove their antiquated system and camera and repair the damage to my home is costing me me more than the contract. If they say they monitor 24/7 why don't they notify you when your service is offline? Why don't they ask for your password before speaking to you? They don't care if your dead or robbed or in danger. They only care that they get your money. I haven't slept in months. I have called numerous times. If you are at risk don't use ADT. Buyer beware.
This company worse service it's all about money I transfer my adt service to my sister when transfer my business they charge service fee again which is really don't stuck on adt contract when you try to cancel service they charge too much money better buy ring security
Just don't. Overseas customer service, equipment is junk, once you sign you have ZERO options to opt out, and even Emailing the president gets you overseas customer service. We had service on three different properties and all three had major issues. They delay things long enough to hold you in the contract, then if you want to get out they give you a lump sum that's the same as if you kept the contract. Every time you call, you get different stories and the notes on the calls are not accurate when you speak with the next person. Camera not working? We can replace it for another $150 for the service call. Panel has an issue? We can charge you to send someone out because the end user can't get into the actual software settings part. I'm now stuck until May of 2025 (36 month contracts) and ended up removing all of the equipment to avoid more service calls after the tape on the door sensors started falling off and giving false alarms. On Halloween, people were knocking on the front door and nothing from the camera, Christmas we had family over and nothing on the camera. So someone could have broken in and the cameras would have never picked anything up. Save yourself the headache and just go anywhere else but ADT. I've let my HOA forum know and will let friends and family know. I also let my insurance company know that the equipment is faulty and doesn't work as advertised and leaves the property at risk from faulty cameras and door sensors. Really wish the BBB would let me show the Email I just received "on behalf of the CEO of ADT" but I can't because of their rules. I've avoided posting here for almost two years, but after going as far up as I possibly could and this same post being explained over fifteen times to ADT, their customer service, billing, techs, and now CEO I feel like they are just out to put the cheapest product at a premium price and when (not if) their equipment fails it becomes another money grab for more equipment that is doomed to fail in you.
I just wrote a message on here regarding ADT a week fees ago regarding selling my home. ADT did not want to cancel my services telling me I still had to pay etc. Keep in mind, I no longer own that home and have moved an hour away. After posting on here I received a response that everything was going to be taken care of with the closing of the account. A week later my monitoring payment came out my account. Today the installment amount came out my account. I login into the account to see what's going on, they gave me a late fee. What the f*** is really going on with this crooked a** company. I have had tons of mail invites come to my new home with third party company's partnered with ADT. I can not associate with any company that affiliated with these scammers. Prior to seller a Rep reached out telling me that they'll she was my account Specialist and she would help me transfer my services, h*** no after I tried to cancel within 60 days or less and they were holding me responsible. The audacity to give me a late fee is just miserable, I don't pay my bill late and they took my money and it does not belong to them. I want my funds release or farther actions will be taken. I no longer reside in that home where the services are being paid. I no longer own that home. I am not associated with that home. Give me my money and leave the alone!
Ordered a security system that went to the wrong house. Called 3 times to speak to people to have it picked up and cancelled and none of them were ever able to help me saying I'd have to call back. This last call I get a call back an hour later. I answer the phone only to be put on hold and then once someone answers told they are as you guessed it not the person to help me and put me on hold to speak with someone else. Honestly a joke at customer service.
I moved as part of PCS in military. I sold my home paid off equipment and canceled services. I set up new service at new address. ADT continue billing me for closed account dispute the many times I called to close account. The finally apologized said will refund will be in mail and nothing yet. And they continue to bill me! Then send my name to collections. I called at least 6 times this past year to ask them to stop billing that I don't live there and acct paid and they continue to ignore me. This business is a fraud and I don't recommend any military member use this service at all.
I have been trying since yesterday (10 calls?) to cancel my service. The bill just keeps going up so we decided to go with a local company instead. You can't get a live person on the phone, in any dept. The recording offers to call you back within a certain time frame; when they didn't, I called yet again. Mid call, they call me and both lines get disconnected. Live person called me back today; she spoke very fast and I told her twice I couldn't understand her. She just disappeared...didn't hang up, just disappeared. Went online and got a bot; no, bot can't help me, I need a person. What seemed to be a person gets on. It's going well, then suddenly alert comes up saying something isn't authorized and chat screen is gone. Called again and waited for rep to answer instead of call back. While waiting, adt phones me. I answer and they can't hear me (?). If I had any doubt about canceling, I don't now. I don't k now what is going on over there...maybe they can use the rate increase to hire actual humans and improve their customer service. Twenty four hours and I still haven't been able to cancel service. Do better, adt.
Customer beware-ensure that you read everything that your salesman writes in the contract. I had ADT in my prior home and decided to get it in my new home. However, this new salesman was aggressive and added a 5 year agreement, overpriced equipment, and other fees that I did not notice until selling my house. The will charge 75% of the monitoring fees for the remainder of the contract to disconnect, even if you sell your house and don't have another house to transfer to. Essentially, you will pay for service despite not getting any service after you move from your house. How this is legal, I don't know. This company is predatory and will take advantage of you if you trust them and don't read the fine print in the contract. I highly suggest locating another security company for your needs.
The absolute worst! I cant express how awful this company is. I warn you do not use im sure they are going out of business.
Two agents were supposed to call me back today to go over the set up and to help me set it up never did and now I'm told that set me up with a virtual person but they can't set the appointment up till the 21st of July I've never experienced anything like this I'm being charged but the system isn't working...any suggestions?
I would rather try and cancel my gym membership during covid again, or sign up for and then cancel comcast repeatedly, than deal with this awful company. I've been a customer for over 4 years, their service has fallen off a cliff. They've also charged me hundreds of dollars in unexplained service fees, and then terminated my contract AND charged me a termination fee for all the remaining months on my contract when I tried to dispute it. I think they've been through too many mergers and cut too many costs recently - no one at this company cares, and the service you get is subpar.
Just buy a security sticker off ebay and stick it on your door. You'll get the same quality of service.
Cameras stopped working in February sent emails and called every week, received no response. My wife spoke with someone and said we are extremely unhappy, also said we want to cancel. The woman said ok then they hit us with a $2500 bill saying we are still in contact. When we asked again about fixing our problems they refused to respond. Stay away from this company, go find a local security business you will receive better and cheaper service!
I called in May to cancel my service because I was moving. I was told my service was canceled and there is nothing else I need to do. I had a long conversation with the rep about football and being a Tampa fan and him trying to talk me into keeping my service. I did not want to keep it because I was moving and I was hoping my new area would have a different alarm system company I could go with.
I received a call at the end of June letting me know that I was 2 months behind paying for my service. I tried to tell the rep who called that I canceled back in May and was told there was no record of my call. Convent that I can recall the conversation with the rep and the length of time I was on the phone but they have no record of my call...
I have tried to contact ADT on 5 different occasions. VIA phone and chat. On one call I was on the phone almost 2 hours and transferred 8 times and then hung up on. I am still paying for service on a home I do not own and all I get is transferred and the run around. I have asked for supervisors to call me, I have put my number on hold call backs because the length of the hold times and I still have not been able to cancel. If I do not hear back I will contact the BBB and anyone else I need to in order to have them cancel my service. The kicker is, I didn't even get an account with ADT. I hate this company. I was with Akerman and without notifying me or given the option to drop my service, my account was sold to ADT. I recently learned that ADT pays their reps higher salary based on being able to obtain and keep customers and lower if they lose customers. Maybe if this was not their practice, I would not have this issue. I want my service canceled and a 3 month refund.
Spoke with 6 different representatives, none of them were able to help me, they kept transferring me and after an hour and half waiting to be attended they hang up on me. They did not proceed my cancelation 2 months ago when I requested it, they did charge me the equipment back then, but 2 month later I received another bill that I was late for my monthly payments... now they want me to pay for a service that I never used because the person that supposed to process the cancelation never did it. And they simply don't care to help me.
Wait time is unacceptable and when finally get someone they don't have the knowledge to assist, therefore, you're transferred to another no knowledge. When wait time exceeds and your asked for a call back, the return call takes longer than the original call made to speak with someone. When a tech comes out he doesn't know why he's here. No correct communication was made regarding the problem. The call center wants you to do all the problem solving virtually plus pay the monthly fee. Unsatisfactory service.
I called ADT for a free quote and spoke to this black woman and she knew nothing about what she was talking about. I asked her about a door camera and she sounded like she couldn't talk right. Maybe she was slurring her speech like she was drunk. I repeatedly asked her if the camera was able to connect with Wi-Fi providers in my area and I assured her that I would connect to xfinity a provider in my area. She was so $#*!ed up she didn't understand half of what I said. All she chose to hear was Wi-Fi provider and xfinity. So now I am getting extremely angry with the customer service in the United States. These people are so $#*!en foreign you can't even talk to them so I just hung up after explaining that to this stupid person for the 6th time. Clearly these people are not qualified to run for these businesses for any company because the greedy corporations won't pay their workers to adequately do their jobs and actually sell what they are supposed to sell. We are long overdue for CHATGPT to fire all of these customer service agencies and replace them with something that won't agitate me so badly.
I have had ADT since 1996. We moved and they offered me a location package that mostly covered a new installation. Our very nice (no complaints) "pro" installer couldn't find the credit. I was charged full price for him to complete his task. Over 5 hours on hold, speaking with over 12 ADT agents (half didn't speak English), I am still being transferred to another department,etc. Still no one who can help. Avoid ADT if possible!
PLEASE PLEASE! DON'T USE ADT. This is a SCAM. We're trying to cancel the account due to a bad service and never got ahold of anyone. This company.

Customer serves is of ZERO help AT ALL ab entire waste of $600 equipment for these people to straight up tell me nothing can be done about it all they will do is screw you royally I see exactly why they have a 1 star popular rating. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!
Answer: Difficult to reach them and even more difficult to reach someone who can assist accurately. A lot of billing hassles.
Answer: No $60 call out service charge anytime there are any issues including dying batteries.
