Don't Apply to Adopt Chewie Through Owner
December 15, 2023

Negotiated adopting Chewie with owner on Thursday. Agreed to pay adoption fee after seeing Chewie and meeting owner. Owner resides in Wesley Chapel, FL. I live in the Orlando area. The owner stated that ahe would be happy to meet me half way between Orlando and Wesley Chapel. We were to meet the owner the next day, Friday at the Longhorn parking lot to take Chewie and exchange funds. We tried to contact the owner but she never answered our inquiry. We ended up driving 5hrs for nothing.

It's a joke
October 22, 2023

I took in my son's cat but due to health issues could not keep her. I did not want to leave her at a shelter so the humane society suggested adopt a pet. The site charged me to list the cat but then it would not update photos and even though I verified the account it would not publish the profile. Total scam rip off and I am disputing the listing charge!

Scam. 0 stars
October 21, 2023

After messaging donnas canine rescue, as per her request, not even a phone call, I realized this is purely a scam and my neighbour agreed as well since he was out $900 and no dog arrived at what they call "Toronto international airport". At least get the name of the airport right. Stick to a reputable agency.

ADOPT A PET IS A PUPPY MILL IN DISGUISE!
October 18, 2023

AAP SITE IS A HORRIBLE JOKE.
THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO OVER-SITE BY OWNERS TO INSURE THE DOGS BE LISTED ON SITE ARE NOT PUPPY MILL DOGS OR FROM BACK YARD BREEDERS, OR WORSE.
NO ONE CHECKS TO SEE IF ANY OF THESE ANIMALS ARE FROM RESCUES OR OWNERS LOOKING TO REHOME A PET?
ITS UNFORTUNATELY JUST ANOTHER AVENUE FOR FACELESS NAMELESS PEOPLE TO SELL ANIMALS TO LINE THEIR POCKETS- AND THE OWNERS OF THIS SITE COULDN'T CARE LESS.

MORE SHAMEFUL SICKENING DISREGARD FOR INNOCENT DEFENSELESS ANIMALS!

PLEASE DO NOT GET ANIMALS ANYWHERE ONLINE - this site craigslist pet afs pey stores bogus rescues etc

October 1, 2023

I found a Beagle named Mimi was adopted last month after I signed she notified me in less than 5 minutes. Everything she stated did not click. I found the dog on your website last week. You need to check out to remove your pet is legit. I'm going to get a dog from a rescue league.

A TERRIBLE, pet selling, NOT adoption!
September 26, 2023

These phonies, hiding,
stating dogs/ cats/ pets are Being put for adoption, these furry babies are being dumped at shelters, even kill shelters, the amish will breed them without regards, and throw away the ones they can't sell and adoptapet.com posts pictures of those babies being sold, they're irresponsible, will never show you the breeding place, the mom and dad, you meet in a parking lot somewhere! They wouldn't meet with me at the breeders, I recorded conversations, they're terrible and adopt a pet doesn't care or they'd never partake in this!
And if you truly love furry babies, stay away from these people, I'm writing a letter to our congressman in Ohio to change these pitiful laws that do not protect these babies! The amish, they're going to hell before any of us for how they abuse " animals" they're the real animals, going to church as often as you do, Won't save you, don't waste your time, furry babies are the angels here! Look at the pictures, they're all from amish country, New Philadelphia in OH, always the same person holding many different puppies and they won't allow us to meet anyone, it's always a parking lot exchange!
Sincerely. Monica.

Adoptapet.com is a waste of time.
September 25, 2023

A very clunky website. Almost impossible to actually see what the settings generate. The ever present free or pay option seems to override search.
Again, a waste of time

Help Rescue in AR
September 18, 2023

Help Rescue in AR is a great rescue! I adopted my 3 month old chihuahua mix from them (and they were transported to CT). I was very skeptical at first because I couldn't find too much detail about them when I googled the group and I wasn't sure about the validity of Adopt-a-Pet. Tonya, the president of the rescue, addressed my concerns and provided me with their veterinarian phone number, paperwork, and videos of the puppy I was adopting. Their website is currently outdated but it is in fact legit- they understandably spend their time rescuing rather than creating a fancy website. Communication was excellent throughout the entire process and I'm happy I adopted from them!

Love my fur baby
August 22, 2023

I am surprised to see so many negative reviews. I'm assuming it's more about the agencies or individuals putting pets up for adoption versus the site itself. I signed up for alerts. I didn't pay for premium subscription however the first application I submitted was review and approved in 48 hrs. By the end of the same week I had my puppy. She was shipped to me from SC safe and sound. My recommendation for this looking to adopt; review the organization and/or individual carefully. You should never have to pay upfront. Make sure you meet in a safe place. Hope this helps!

Camp Merry Sunshine pet
June 16, 2023

I had an exceptional experience with Kathy Williams at Camp Merry Sunshine Dog Rescue. From the moment I expressed interest in a dog at her facility, Kathy went above and beyond to ensure that the adoption would be a perfect match for both me and the dog. Despite the geographical distance, as I reside in a different state and could only rely on a picture from the internet, Kathy took it upon herself to thoroughly prepare the dog for the transition. She gave the dog a bath, trimmed its coat, and even sent me additional pictures to provide a better understanding of its appearance.

Kathy's dedication to making the adoption process as smooth as possible was truly remarkable. Understanding that arranging transportation through a company would be challenging for me, she generously offered to meet me halfway without any extra charge. Additionally, Kathy took the initiative to have the dog microchipped, demonstrating her genuine concern for the well-being and safety of the animal.

Throughout the entire adoption process, Kathy consistently prioritized my comfort and satisfaction. She patiently addressed all my inquiries and concerns, ensuring that I was well-informed and at ease every step of the way. I cannot express enough gratitude to Kathy for her professionalism, compassion, and attentiveness.

Since bringing my new companion, June, into my home, she has seamlessly settled in and become an inseparable part of my life. June's favorite place is right by my side, whether it's snuggled between my legs in the recliner or nestled beside me in bed at night. The joy and enrichment that June has brought into my life is immeasurable, and I attribute this happiness to Kathy's unwavering commitment to her work.

Kathy, I am sincerely grateful for the positive impact you have made in both June's life and mine. Your dedication to animal welfare and the genuine care you extend to each and every adoption is truly commendable. May you continue to be blessed for the incredible work you do.

Do not use- scam
June 9, 2023

I was adopting a puppy through Adopt a Pet was about to pay the fee for an 'out of town pup' and his transport fee but the pics and vid's I received were all evasive, the 'rescue' organization never called me at any time m, they texted my references only. Then I looked into it and their website was last used in 2018, further inquiry led to finding out the organization was officially terminated in 2018. The pic on Adopt a Pet turned out to be a different breed stock pic on a reverse image search. I confronted them with lack of validity of their organization and they tried to shame me. 'Help Rescue' is the organization name. Then I look at Adopt a Pet reviews and now know this is not a trusted website and it's all just a scam. Stay clear don't waste your time and don't give anyone money.

Possible animal testing site
May 28, 2023

Oct 2020 Disabled and had to move to no pet apt. My fur bby Sofie, a cocker spaniel, was picked up by chinese woman. She was not the woman, I had talked to,that adopted her for100.00. Rehome Adopt A Pet had Petco down as a sponsor. I felt safe, after I seen this sponsor. I called several Petco locations the next day,and they all said, never heard of this site before. Live everyday w regret, never knowing what happened to her. Never got to check back w her as promised, about Sofie and how she was doing. I believe the FB page she told me she had was fake, no recent activity, just profile older looking pic w woman holding a cocker spaniel. Cannot get past main page on there site, no info on adoption at all. It's as if I never had account there. They have no support after they get your pet from you. They put people thru misery, that are already going thru this, bc loss of there fur bby. My worst fear, this is animal testing fraudulant site. I had no where to take her, and a shelter I thought would be the worst. PLZ get this place investigated, if anyone has the means, to find out what they do w our pets. FRAUD/BEWARE

Don't do the Prime donation
May 27, 2023

I did the $10 a month donation to receive more emails about a dog I would like to adopt. I got less emails and every time I did get an email I would put in immediately for the dog only to be told to fill out another adoption form which I did and sent it in only to be told then that the dog had already been adopted. Then I tried to go on and cancel the 10.00 a month but there is no place to cancel on the website. There is a phone number but it only tell you what emails addresses to send to based upon what you are trying to do. The email bounced back. I had to call my credit card company and they had to actually cancel my card (BOA) because they could not cancel the recurring donation. This place is a scam!

Pet care
March 31, 2023

I found a kitten on Perfect Angels Cat Rescue (https://www.petfinder.com/member/us/nj/turnersville/purrfect-angels-cat-rescue-nj757/) and was advised my application was not able to be approved because they were unable to find consistent vet care with my current and prior owned pets. Perfect Angels was advised my vet who has cared for my pets through the years would be willing to give a positive recommendation. In an e-mail received from Perfect Angels advised "We wish you the best of luck in finding the pet that is right for you. Please check with your local animal shelter, where many adorable animals are waiting for homes. Their adoption requirements may be different from ours". I thought petfinder's mission was to find forever homes for homeless pets and I understand the need to find save loving homes, but if a recommendation from a family vet is not enough for Perfect Angels/petfinder what is?

Bonded kitten pair found an AMAZING home!
March 22, 2023

I turned to adopt a pet.com as a last resort after humane societies, no kill shelters and pet rescues all fell through on their promises to help me place an abandoned cat who had a litter of 4 kittens.

The site is easy to use, I set up a profile for each kitten and mama cat with current photos. I was honest in my description of each one's personality and temperament.

Once I had applications come in, I vetted each one, made sure they had a veterinarian they knew and trusted, good home, clean, etc. Then I listened for signs that they were aware of the need for and knowledge of how to kitten proof a home.

I answered questions but did not volunteer a ton of information because I wanted to give the potential adopter room to express their thoughts and desires so I could better ascertain what type of pet parent they would be.

I asked for references of people who would vouch for them as being excellent pet parents. Some applicants offered this without my asking.

I listened to see what type of homelife they described to get a good idea of what the kittens would be introduced to.

I set up a video chat so they could see them in action and also asked to come see their home to ensure they kittens were going to a safe and well cared for home.

I believe this site is what you make it. Could there be scams? Yes! There are ways to safe guard against them. Be smart and vigilant. Do not pay an individual for a pet and never pay anything without seeing them first. Ask for a video meet and greet. Once you meet in person make sure it is initially in a public space and do not go check a private home if you have any misgivings.

This bonded pair, brother and sister, will now have a home and be together for life. <3

They are a joke.
March 15, 2023

I applied for a dog and after a couple of weeks I was turned down because my yard wasn't fenced in. Well why do you need a fenced in yard for a three pound chihuahua? It's a house dog. A lap dog. I wouldn't feel safe with a dog that small running around outside. They stated the dog would be more comfortable in a fenced in yard. Did the dog tell them this? I explained that I leash walk my dogs three times a day and take them to the park for exercise. They offered me other dogs. They don't need a fenced in yard? I'm wondering if they still had the dog and it was just a come on. They are a joke.
