Filled out the adaption form. Received notice it was sent to dog owner. Informed most owners reply within 14 days, After checking the ad every few days, I find the dog was adopted on the 8th day. They were supposed to inform me if my application was rejected. I found another Corgi in the same area with a different picture but the same exact wording in the ad. Scam!
They just take your $ and send AI applicants. After 5 in a row, I contacted customer service. The reply - We checked out your applicants and verified that they are all actual human interest. So now they are lying! And then, they sent two more fake profiles my way! One was from Ontario and I live in Maryland! What actual human is going to travel nine hours each way, and cross the country's border for a free kitten? So I told them to take down my account, and to not charge me any more than the original $5, in case they weren't transparent about it being a subscription. They complied, but then sent me a survey asking me if I was satisfied! Seriously? I said - Unsatisfied, and am now going to write as many online reviews as possible. This site is a scam!
I have submitted several applications over the past 3 years, submitting forms that contain my address, phone number, age, and friend's names and phone numbers. This is really scary if this is a scam operation. I have never received a call or email from those listing pets for adoption on Adopt A Pet.
These people are nothing more than persons that could not make it in the used car business and said well will go lie to people about selling Rottweilers went to their website the first picture so it's a beautiful purebred looking Rottweiler the other $50 dogs that were on their website don't even make it to be classified as mangy mutts I've seen dogs on the street that look better than these animals and I use the word animal very very carefully they don't even make it to look like an animal they look like less than an animal this website should be taken down I've seen where some people say that they've gone to buy a Rottweiler or supposedly adopt a rottweiler for a fee which is nothing more than buying a Rottweiler or buying any other dog that being said they said when they get there it's not there well my friends consider yourselves lucky I wouldn't give any one of those dogs again if you consider them to be classified as a dog a can of worms I wouldn't do them a favor of putting them to sleep death doesn't deserve animals like that in doggy heaven I don't know what these things are how could these people find pictures of dogs that I got to be the ugliest thing I've ever seen in my life much less offer them for a supposed adoption fee this is nothing more than a dollar fee plain and simple don't be bull$#*!ed
This adopt a pet needs to do something different every time that you have a pet that's for you you go to to see it and by the time you want it it's already adopted it's happened with three little dogs also when you call the place in Fort Lauderdale they never pick up the phone ever my best bet for future people just go to Broward go to Broward and you can adopt a pet for free there it cost like 20 bucks they pick up the phone and you can go there in person
Apopt-A-Pet...This is the second time I try this service to adopt. First time with Leo actually went to meet him, the foster parent basically talked me out of him I felt so guilty I left a donation hoping she could keep him. They also said he was a young dog on the site and Leo was clearly an older dog. Here's my second time around with Mabel. I applied and although a lady named Bridget responded quickly to say hey maybe we can meet next week it's been crickets no response to any of my texts and all I'm trying to do is schedule a meet up. The website says Mabel is no longer up for adoption and when I queried Bridget she said she's still up for adoption. Yet still crickets. I question an organization like this that makes it so difficult to even meet up with the pet. I think they're more about getting donations and hoarding pets although Mabel seems to be owned by an individual and needs to be rehomed. Obviously they're not that anxious to rehome Mabel. She's adorable. But when they don't respond or at least schedule you I have to scratch my head and ask what the true intent is. Buyers beware!
Thsi now marks the third and final time I will use this site.
I have been looking for a Shih Tzu and on each occasion of applying, the application is answered in full, minus any banking information which is a invasion of priacy and they have no right to it, just so you're all aware of that legal fact, and on each occasion, I have had ZERO replies, or responses on theire emails or on thier FaceBook page which is rife with scammers and devoid of any moderation at all.
Furhter investigation shows they are based in L.A. Calofronia as well as Michigan. Amy Luwis, is the primary among the other 3 members who founded this adoption thing and its not woring very well for anyone that I can see here on thsi review site, or many others I have read through.
You make the application, submit it and then you're to wait for between 14-30 days before ever hearing anything back from either a shelter or the person who allegedly has that animal.
In each case, no replies are seen, no emails responded to and subsequently I'm left with the impression that as a non taxed entity it is time to have the IRS and the states of Calif and michigan conduct an audit to find out where the moeny really goes. Apparently Amy Luwis is doing well enough to write and publish a book so theres that for consideration.
Some of the reviews seem to be okay with a adoption outfit ripping other people off. I'm NOt okay with it and itis essentially illegal and considered fraud.
So if you;ve read this far and are considering legal action, I'd love to join up with as many as possible to bring them into being held accountable for their actions and lack of actions.
Consult your state Attoreny General office and file a complaint and then contact the Better Business Burea and file an additional complaint there too. The only language people like this understand is when they see a drop in business contacts and a loss of revenue.
These people are not into this for the rght reasons. All they're doing is taking the money and leaving you with nothing.
I said it. I'll back it up in court too. Anyone else interestd?
'Adopt a Pet' background checks on available dogs turned out to be nonexistent or they wouldn't have indicated that the dog that I drove 4 hours out of state to get had had any of her shots/ vet checks. Do misunderstand, she is a great dog but most of the background information on her was either imaginary or an outright lie. She has had none of her shots and I suspect has never had a vet visit. I later found out that 3 other people had looked at her within two days and had not adopted her. Again, I suspect that the rehoming fee was the issue.
I emailed Adopt A Pet asking if they had a dog for a companion for my existing dog. A very rude woman replied saying "You're not getting a dog. You didn't say you have a fenced yard." No one ever asked me if I have a fenced yard, and I do. I replied back telling her that, she ignored it entirely. Now I have to wonder if this outfit actually wants to save dogs, or euthanize them.
After deciding on a beautiful dog, made payment arrangements, paying 300 upfront, the dog was over 6 hours away, was told he would be delivered because the person who had the dog traveled to Dallas once weekly. The person who had the dog and I spoke on the phone twice. The second time, that same person informed me that she won't be coming to Dallas and doesn't have a courier coming that way. She said she might after after the 1st. We were told the change after paying the deposit and would finish paying the rest this week. I informed the animal shelter and was told I'm selfish and would have to forfeit the money. Even though, I was not informed of all information at the beginning. Lesson learned. I was blocked also. Scam. Do not go to adopt a pet passion animal rescue!
You can apply for a trillion pets and not get approved for any, furthermore, no response & no answer from any of the rescue/ shelter they supposedly work with, also, what's up with $650 for a grown adult dog? Shameless
SHOW THE FEE BEFORE YOU MAKE US MAKE AN ENTIRE ACO$#*! YOU AHOLES. SCREW SITEJABBER TOO FOR REQUIRING AN ACCOUNT IN ORDER TO WRITE THIS CRAP
A few days ago, I attempted to adopt a dog in my area on the *******@Adopt-a-Pet website. The email I received for potential adopters states: "Most people looking to rehome respond within 14 days. So now, we wait!"
Really? Two weeks? Why not have a policy that places a three-day time constraint to the pet's responsible party to answer either way? If the pet's owner/rescue is non-responsive, then the profile gets deleted from the website.
Serious lack of working neurons behind this website.
This is a scam website. If you are looking to rehome they'll charge you $50 and never post. They have no contact at all which is a red flag. Will dispute the charge. I don't understand how these sites are not shut down.
I was interested in adopting a 2 year old cat I saw on this site from a rescue called Passion Animal rescue in University park, Tx. I emailed a question and received an answer right away. So when they asked for an application with a $35 fee through cashapp or zelle, I did so even with some qualms. When I asked for notification of receipt, no answer. Another question about the cat, no answer. I made inquiries through the AdoptAPet site and straight to the rescue. A week later I got an email asking if I was still interested. I said yes. Then, nothing. I notified the site and they said the rescue was legitimate and just ask for the money back. I did. No answer. I will say their customer service was fine. They responded quickly and addressed my concerns, but then I filed a complaint form with site and have not received any feedback. The cat is still on the website.
Bottom line, AdoptaPet allows scams on their website. I lost my $35.
I applied for an interview and was granted but adopt a pet says that I was denied for the reason of dangerous enviroment. I request an explanation so that I could correwct and havenm't got a response in 3 days.

Could you please explain what was Unsafe about my environment was the reason I was declined. I need to fix this matter with your help only if I knew what was wrong. Thanks
I am an officer of the state of California for the last 19 years and this is totally a fake site. They text you and they wanted to deliver the dog to your house but they just change it out each and every time and talk to me on the text and then when I asked to speak with his wife at 4:30 there was no call as he promised then they say they sold the dog, but there is no dog
Do not fill out the application! They are a total scam and most likely selling your information after you submit all your personal info. There is no way to actually contact them. Shame on them for taking advantage of people who are actually willing to help these poor animals.
I've been trying and trying and they are never available. It sucks!
We fall in love and in the second they are gone
I posted before about their website, how slow and cumbersome it was to use. It still is but I can live with that. What I can't live with is them allowing a private party to post a mixed breed mutt with a price tag of $1600. When I contacted them they told me if I wanted a lower adoption fee to go to my local shelter. This has nothing to do with me wanting a lower adoption fee, and everything to do with allowing people to use animals as personal income. I understand having an adoption fee but this is beyond ridiculous.
If Adopt A Pet is going to run an animal adoption site they need to take responsibility for what's posted on that site, period, especially if they're made aware of an issue. Just because you're actually adopting from a private party, rescue or shelter through their site doesn't mean they should sit idle and allow people to use animals in this way.
When you start your search a "new pet alert" pops up where you can sign up to get email notifications. There's a choice of free or $10/month. There's also a box that says "don't show me this again". Don't bothering checking that box, it doesn't work. You have to X out of the alert to continue your search. Then while you're searching the new pet alert pops up again. And again. Yes I emailed them about it and no, they didn't do anything to fix it.
Also I'm searching for a dog by owner. Some owners put little or no information and there's no way to contact them with questions. I also emailed adoptapet about this, I was told I should fill out an application then the pet owner can get in touch with me. Why would I waste my time completing an application when I have no idea if the dog is a good match? Or if it's even still available?
Too much frustration and time wasted, I'll be looking elsewhere.
