AAA Reviews Summary

The company's reputation is increasingly marred by negative customer experiences, particularly regarding delays in roadside assistance and inadequate support during emergencies. Many long-term members express frustration over service failures, including unresponsive technicians and unfulfilled warranty claims. Despite some positive feedback highlighting reliable service in the past, the trend indicates a significant decline in customer satisfaction, with numerous individuals contemplating membership cancellation. The overarching sentiment suggests a disconnect between customer expectations and the actual service provided, prompting a need for the company to enhance its communication and accountability measures.

One should not have to call constantly to get a tow and analyze that calls before 6 am are routinely dropped, not responded to. If you don't watch those stats, that means you are or management is not doing their job.

Awful... stay away!
October 29, 2025

AAA sent me some junk mail with two membership cards., each good for the next month.
I decided to test out the service.
Called four times. The first three, after a minute or two of voice prompts, AAA hung up on me.
The fourth time, after almost 5 minutes of pressing voice prompts and listening to ads about AAA I spoke with someone to ask for a tourbook. When I gave he membership number on the card she said "that's not a real membership number." That it's just a fake membership card they send out.
I don't want to deal with a company that uses such tactics.
And... I don't want to have to wait on hold while listening to endless commercials.
And when I went on this site I read what thosewho have been members for along time have to say about this company.
I used to be an AAA member many years ago, but never again!

I have a minor no damage hit the back pumper car accident. The other party insurance company AAA, CSAA, at Oak Rd. Walnut Creek, Ca policy number, CSAA *******575. Claim big money. My insurance company, Geico pay them and raise me big premium. They regard no damage accident is serious but other driver don't give me driving information is nothing. CSAA ask my driving information but ( refuse to give me other party driving information.) The traffic law lawyer say this is still regard as 'hit and run.' I know insurance company write to DMV, but must be incomplete accident report - no other party driver driving information and report hit And run.
It means anyone can write a fault accident report to DMV if they know your driving information. Terrible lawless insurance company and action. Now, Geico eliminate my correspondonce message, so its more difficult to follow up.

Where is my batery?
January 11, 2025

I am very disappointed with AAA after 23 years. I bought a batery from then in November and until today they not change it. They say that have garanty but when the technician comes to the place where my car broken they do the test and do not change the batery. I have been calling 4 times and yesterday my car broken again and I was on the street again. Was so cold and now I am very sick at home. I tried to call then and always the same response. Just I need a new batery that I need and I payed for it. It's very frustrating to pass for this situation and th AAA didn't care for me. Jesse branth *******095

Terrible service left my 74-year-old mother stranded on 95 never came she waited over 8 hours the tow truck place kept canceling on her over 10 of them to be exact this was December 21st 2024 started calling them at 2:00 p.m. by 10:00 p.m. I had to drive 2 hours away to get her then pay a tow company the next day 400 bucks to tow the car how can you charge for a service you're not providing very tempted to get a lawyer it was 20° out there if she wasn't able to get to a warm place she would have froze to death shame on you guys then they called her late that night and said figure out a way home and come back 2 hours away tomorrow to get a tow cuz she needs to be there to show her ID and the tow truck places didn't even have the courtesy to say they're not coming every 45 minutes she would call and they would say they're not coming call AAA to get another tow truck company with some excuse I would never buy their service again you're better off paying the few hundred to tow company when you need them cuz they will be there for the cash but don't seem to have the time for the AAA members and I blame triple a for letting this happen and not holding these tow companies to a certain standard what a joke

Incompetent Service
December 29, 2024

After being an AAA member for over 20 years I am cancelling my membership. In the past two months, I have had two horrific experiences - the first one happened in November 2024 when I ran out of gas on the West Side Highway in NYC. AAA doesn't service incidents/accidents on this highway (and other NYC roadways) due to cost restraints and they had to call an outside towing company to help. Needless to say, it took a lot longer to resolve. The second experience was when I got a flat tire on Interstate 84, northeast of Hartford, CT west bound to NYC on Friday, December 27th. It took AAA nearly 4 hours to get me towed off the busy highway, knowing that I was not safe. Even though the AAA staff was friendly when I called multiple times, (also was hung up on multiple times) they were incompetent and ineffectual in resolving my issue. AAA membership is not worth the money - I am planning to check out a membership with Better World Club, Good Sam, or Allstate Motor Club, or see if my car insurance company offers roadside assistance.

Poor service
December 1, 2024

I am beyond disappointed with my recent experiences with AAA. I have been a loyal member for over 25 years and have rarely had to call for assistance during that time. However, the service I've received over the past two months has made me seriously question my membership.
The first call was for a flat tire on my daughter's car. I requested a tow to a nearby location, but after waiting 90 minutes, the technician showed up without a tow truck and instead put a bad spare on the tire. This was incredibly frustrating, especially since I had clearly communicated that I needed a tow.
The other four calls were all related to a bad car battery. I purchased a AAA battery in November 2021, which was still under their 3-year warranty. With the colder weather, my car has been having trouble starting because of a failing battery. Yesterday, my battery completely died after a movie, and I called AAA at 7:30 p.m. They initially estimated about an hour for assistance, but it turned into a nightmare.
I waited nearly four hours in freezing temperatures, repeatedly calling for updates, only to be told it would be another hour or two each time. When someone finally arrived at 11:30 p.m., they didn't even bring a replacement battery despite my clear request during the initial call. Instead, they jump-started my car and insisted I rev the engine for over twenty minutes to charge the battery before they could test it.
After testing, they claimed the battery was charged and didn't qualify for replacement under the warranty, despite the obvious issues I've been experiencing. My battery is clearly failing, but AAA refuses to honor the warranty.
After 25 years of loyalty and rarely asking for assistance, I expected far better service. Waiting hours in the cold and dealing with unprepared technicians is unacceptable. AAA has seriously let me down, and I'm now questioning whether this membership is worth it.

I have been a member of AAA as long as I have been driving. In the past if I needed AAA and my membership has lapsed I called and they renewed my membership on the spot. My membership card says Valid thru September 1 2025. I called because my car needs to be towed to a local auto shop. I was told my membership expired in 2022. Then they told me that the valid thru date is sent out 3 years in advance but you need to renew membership every year. I accepted that which is a big problem but then I asked to sign up now. I was told that would not be a problem it's $70 for my membership but if I want service today there would be a $60 additional charge or I could wait 3 days for service. First my card said Valid until September next year, then I cannot get my car taken care of today unless I pay almost double the membership chare. I use to love AAA but this experience has caused me to rethink membership.

Was involved in an accident that wasn't my fault, and the person who hit me has AAA insurance. AAA didn't reach out to me for over a week, and I had to call them myself—while on vacation—to even start the process. Initially, they told me I couldn't keep my car at my preferred shop, but once I pushed back, they suddenly changed their stance and allowed it. This deceptive tactic was frustrating.

To make matters worse, they lowballed me on the value of my totaled car, despite the fact that I have receipts for every bolt and all the maintenance done. They were unprofessional in response to my fair valuation. Then they yanked my rental car, leaving me without transportation to work.

I feel like nothing more than a number to them. Even if I had accepted their offer, how could I buy a car on a weekday with a full-time job? I couldn't even have the rental until the weekend to make arrangements. I didn't ask to be in this situation, but now I'm left scrambling, trying to figure out how to provide for my family and do basic things like get groceries.

They left me stranded on the side of the highway for 8 hours continuously telling me a driver would be on the way. My initial call was at 8:45pm. I called them every 2 hours for updates and was repeatedly told a tow was in the way. 3:30am I finally get a call back from the dispatcher telling me the 1 and only available tow truck driver refuses to comeout and that I need to find a ride home and to leave my keys in the car. So I find my own way home because their 24 hour roadside assistance is a complete lie. Then after being promised that 1 and only driver would tow my car at 8 am he finally got to it at 10:30. I don't know how it's legal for them to advertise 24 hour roadside assistance as I was completely ignored when I needed assistance for 13 of the 24 hours they supposedly operate. After a complaint to the BBB they wouldn't even refund me the price of my full membership. Very unfortunate to be a member of AAA for multiple years and the 1 time I need actual assistance I get told find my own way home we will get to you when it's a good time for our tow truck driver to do so be it the 13 hours later it doesn't matter to them. Never renewing my membership and highly recommend nobody become a new member.

I recently had an issue with AAA where I called for roadside assistance for a flat repair, and let me tell you my story.

I submitted a roadside assistance request with AAA, they sent one of their 3rd party vendors to facilitate the flat repair of my vehicle. The technician proceeded to jack my car with a floor jack and placed it in the wrong place and caused significant damage. He then repositioned the jack and jacked it up again from the correct position to change the tire.

When I reported the issue to AAA they told me that I had to deal with this damage directly with the vendor. I did not hire this vendor and had no ability to contact them nor did I have any leverage to persuade the vendor to repair the damage. After many calls to AAA they did finally provide the vendor's phone number.

I contacted the vendor and they will not return my calls and have ignored over 20 calls to them. I have no leverage on this vendor and AAA will not support me in my pursuit to get the damage repaired.

I have been a member of AAA for over 20 years but they still refused to help me to get this vendor to do the right thing and fix the damage they caused.

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH AAA, they will not support you and will hang you out to dry when their poor vendors cause damage to your vehicle.

BEWARE of AAA they are crooks and are not worth your time or money.

My car broke down at my doctor's office at 1 pm, called AAA, they said someone would be here at 2:45, called again at 3 pm, rep said they are changing shifts and someone would be here shortly and that I was #1 on the list! Called again at 5 pm, rep sad they were just finishing with a service call and I was next in line! I told the rep I thought I was first on the list! She had no answer but she would call the tow truck driver and would call me back! She called back and said the tow truck driver wasn't answering his phone or text messages!. The rep then said to leave the key in the car and go home! Yeah, right! I refused this suggestion, she then told me the driver would meet me at 6:45 am the next day. Called AAA the next day at 7 am to report no driver again, she then said he would be here at 8:15 am. I called again at 8:30 and the driver would be here at 9:45,3 hours after promised and a total of 8 hours of waiting for a tow truck in sweltering 95 degree heat!. I then called a local towing company who was here within 20 minutes! For AAA, this is the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED! I will never again use AAA and urge anyone reading this to do the same!

Early the other day, I discovered that my car, which was in our community parking area, had a flat tire. My wife and I have been AAA members for many years, and roadside service is supposedly one of the free benefits. I called the toll-free number and was told that someone would be showing up in about an hour. Nobody ever arrived, so I called AAA again, about two hours after my original call. The representative who picked up said she would look into the status of my request, but my call was disconnected while I was on hold. I then called a third time, talking to yet another representative, who informed me that, because of our address, my request should have gone to a different AAA service area. She did not explain what that meant, what could be done about it, or what had become of my request for service. Shame on AAA for not taking action for letting me know that there had been a problem. Membership is a complete waste of money, and we will not be renewing ours!

I needed roadside assistance to start my car on 4/15/24. I called AA at 4 pm and was told that I will get assistance within 90 minutes. I got a call at 0624 pm that someone will come in 45binutes. Nobody did. I called at 745 and was told someone will come by 9 pm. Someone came finally at 945 pm.
This is unacceptable service. I have been a member for 49 years and when I needed AAA they failed.
I had similar experience 3 years ago.
I am considering discontinuing my membership.

4 AM PHONE CALL
April 1, 2024

At 12:52pm on Sunday March 31,2024 my vehicle was not drivable. I contacted AAA immediately and requested for assistance. I never received assistance. I had to find a way home (paid a co worker), and leave my vehicle at the location it broke down. At 4:22 AM, 15 hours later I get a call from AAA that a technician will be assigned at 8:30am. Why in the world would anyone call a customer at 4:22am!?!? Ella said she was calling all the requests in the queue and I was listed. Why would you call?!? After my call a text message was sent with the details of the assigned technician. The was sufficient, a text message. Now it is 4AM and I was woken up, alarmed, and given so much anxiety because I receive a call from AAA to let me know a technician has been assigned 15 hours after my request! 15 hours after my request. This whole situation was inconvenient, inconsiderate, and really irresponsible on AAA side. I will not be renewing my membership after this year. This is only one of the many bad situations I've had to deal with as a customer for AAA.

I have been a member since 2010 and my parents for at least 30 years. I have used roadside assistance to change my battery or a tire several times during that time period and been well taken care of at my home. I have kept my membership because the convenience of having help with my car at home has always been consistent, but also in case of emergencies like my situation on 3/24/2024. I called and spoke to a representative at 7:30pm. My car wouldn't start and I was on the shoulder of a turnpike about 95miles from home. I was told that it would cost me about $450 out of pocket to tow my car home, which I approved. I received a text telling me a wrecker would be to me by 9:33pm. I called twice, once around 8:30pm and again at 9:30pm, both automated services told me wrecker would be to me by 9:33 pm. When no one showed up by 9:35 I called and spoke to a representative again. I was told that a wrecker had not been sent out to me bc it was going to cost me an out of pocket fee. After holding for 15 min, and agreeing to the out of pocket expense for the second time, I was told a wrecker would be sent to me in 30 min. Severe storms were heading my way, cars driving by at 85 mph in the dark, and I had been waiting over two hours. Luckily my husband was able to provide me road side assistance and got my car to start. It wouldn't go above 35 mph but that is how I drove it the 95 miles home. I am completely dissatisfied and will not be renewing my membership with AAA. I will be changing to another provider that is dependable and timely on providing roadside assistance when I am literally on the side of a road in a hazardous situation. I will not be recommending AAA to friends and family. And I will be posting this review on any and all review boards online.
