Ordered 2 Oct. 2017. Order completed 4 Oct 2017. Still no DVD as of 18 Oct 2017, nor answers to my emails. The ONLY reason I risked it was it is the only place that has the movie I ordered, save overseas and those disks won't play on my DVD player... UPDATE - I received the DVD in the mail today. It appears to function correctly. It does have French sub-titles, but they aren't very distracting. I'd rate this vendor at 2.5 stars if it would let me. Given the problems he has had, and his apparent lack of customer contact, I would recommend to HIM to amend his website and remove the claim of two day or less order fulfillment. To potential customers, I'd warn them to not expect rapid delivery, if there is delivery.
Received The Black Watch in good order, Print was as good as seen on TCM c. 1930's. Sound good. No glitches, Have ordered several DVD's from ZeusDVD no complaints yet.
Last fall I wrote a fairly favorable review after my first order. Since then I've made several orders, totaling about 20 discs. None has been unsatisfactory & some have been surprisingly good. As a collector of obscure titles, I've worked with several dealers of such material & Zeus is no better or worse than the others. Yes, quality of videos ranges from mediocre to pretty good, but consider how rare the sources of these prints are. Yes, lag time between ordering & delivery can be long: my last order took two months to be filled & I received no answers to my emails. But the discs did come & delays have to be expected with these "print-on-demand" titles. One caution: prints of foreign films are sometimes without English subtitles & the catalog descriptions don't warn about that. To judge from reviews here, I've been one of the lucky ones, but I've found Zeus to be a reliable source for films literally unavailable elsewhere, & his prices are among the lowest around. Bottom line: be cautious ordering foreign titles & be ready to wait a long time.
I was daunted by the hysterically bad reviews, but Zeus was the only game in town for an old TV movie from the 80s that i wanted to see again so i had to roll the dice. Glad i did, because the experience was frankly pretty flawless. I wouldn't have complained if the quality of the transfer was an atrocious mess of scan lines, but it was actually taken from a recent-ish TV broadcast so the quality could not have been better for an obscure low-definition movie that's more than 30 years old. The title is even printed on the disc, and it comes in an actual DVD case as opposed to the jewel case or worse that i might have expected. Shipping was only a couple of weeks to Canada as well. Zero complaints from me, to be honest, i'm really grateful i was able to see this movie again ("Alex: The Life of a Child") as it was never released on video and can't even be found on youtube. Don't be put off by the reviews if there's some old movie you're hoping to see-- it could totally be worth it to take the chance on Zeus DVDs.
Ordered 6 films & 1 series, totalling $70.00. One film was out of sync, the voices & the picture were off & it wasn't a dubbing issue. The series had missing episodes & some duplicates. Some films were decent quality, while others were awful. I wouldn't recommend them. Also, the reviews placed on their site never get published.
After sending numerous e-mails about the status of my order, none of which were answered, I finally received it a MONTH later... with Italian subtitles, which makes it completely useless to me. Needless to say, this was not mentioned in their listings. Luckily, my credit card company refunded me the money, but I advise everyone NEVER to use them!
I almost didn't purchase the dvd I wanted cause of all the bad reviews but I'm glad I took the chance and did got the dvd works great never had an issue took about a week and a half will definitely order more!
Ordered DVD months ago, no DVD, no response, reporting how him to attorney general. This is just another example of lack of internet laws to protect citizens from fraud, spam, and anything else some wishes to perpetuate on otherd
Imagine my surprise when 12 months and 4 days after ordering and paying for this DVD the parcel dropped through the letterbox! Ironically I no longer have a DVD player so will have to watch it through my computer sometime. I take back my previous post however Im sure I can be forgiven for thinking Id been robbed!
Dont give up.
L'OEIL DU MALIN is one of the best of Claude Chabrol's early films, and a fascinating forerunner of the 'Helene' series of his golden period some ten years later. The Zeus dvd is triply useless. It appears to have been made from a television transmission. A maddeningly distracting figure 13 appears in the top right-hand corner of the image from beginning to end. But the television set must have been of the old, harrower shape; L'OEIL was shot for wide screen, so part of the image is lost over the edge. Finally, the image has, inexplicably, been laterally compressed, with dreadful distortion; everyone, and everything, is too thin.
After spending $20.00 for 2 dvds, i became suspicious of Zeus' e-mail responses, and checked this site. Since the reviews were bad as you can see, i notified visa about my probable loss. I was shocked when 3 weeks after my order the dvds appeared in my mailbox. The no frills packaging consisted of small jewel cases wrapped in packing. I played them immediately and they were both clear, sharp copies that had the TCM logo emblazoned about half way through. This is not a first class operation, and i won't tempt fate again, but this time i got my money's worth. Curmudgeon
I ordered 3 dvds from Zeus. They arrived rather quickly in the cheapest way possible. However, one did not play at all. I mailed it back at my expense over 3 weeks ago.So farII have not gotten a replacement, and my e-mails were totally ignored. The phone number they list is totally fraudulent. I am also upset that this unprofessional site was linked to me from EBAY, when I was searching for an older film.
Ordered DVD on Dec 7th. Received notification that order was complete on Dec. 11th. 16 days later I have still not received my order. Emails to Zeus have gone unanswered. Contacting my credit card company and having the charge reversed.
I have on order two dvds. It's been 12 days since the order admittedly not a long time like other reviewers here. I only ordered from zeus for the first time because the films are impossible to find anywhere. They have not replied to emails. I should have checked them out first but I took a risk. I normally don't use credit cards with outfits like this and use a green dot which means they can't charge back the vendors. I'm willing to wait a while longer before I file a complaint with BBB. Be very careful with this company if you want to have a dvd that only they appear to sell.
Poor quality bootleg DVD copies from an arrogant and obnoxious staff. Save your time and energy and purchase elsewhere.
I know there are a lot of negative reviews but I have to say that although it took a little while to get my movie (about a month), it came and the quality was fine. I have been looking for this movie for over a year. I could not find a DVD anywhere and then found Zeus and took a chance. Glad I did.
I emailed Zeus and asked about the quality of "The River Rat." I said I didn't expect it to be perfect but at least in good condition for viewing. I knew it was going to be burned from video cassette to a D. V. D., so I really didn't expect much. Just as long as I could see it! I received a reply stating it would be in "good" condition. When I received it, it was BETTER than good! I was extremely pleased with it and am watching it right now. Love that movie. Will continue to buy old movies from Zeus.
I rarely if ever use my credit card to order online material. But I saw a movie online that I really wanted and decided it was worth the risk. I had seen Zeus' ads before on the internet, and even though I am normally more cautious and investigative I decided to order the movie anyway.
Well, the movie came as ordered, and the quality wasn't all that bad. On top of that it was delivered within a week's time. Pretty quick turn-around time, if you ask me. But about a week after that my bank calls me and says I have what they say appears to be fraud charges trying to post to my account. They aren't from Zeus or even a company situated in Florida, but instead were from a smoker's club based out of Michigan. (I don't smoke, by the way.)
Ironic? A coincidence? Possibly, by some slim margin. But, as I said earlier, I rarely IF EVER use my card like this. So odds are there's a connection. BEWARE, CONSUMER!
Ordered a DVD of the hard-to-find DVD Coming Out of the Ice with John Savage. I didn't watch it for a while and then when I did, what a shock! It was a terrible copy - extremely blurry and and it even included "rolling" of the picture and white static that used to result from poor "tracking" on the old VHS players. I have contacted the seller, but do not expect an answer based on the poor reviews I have just read. I'll be sure to check them next time and not be taken in by such an unscrupulous seller.
I stupidly expected a quality dvd but what I received was a clearly bootlegged copy of a film that had clearly run on Encore. The case was blank white, the disc was rattling around in the case and the quality of the dvd was terrible. There was a message on the bottom of the screen that Encore was experiencing satellite difficulties so please be patient, and that message ran several times. I am not experienced in the legalities of this kind of sale but it looks like Zeus is a rotten company with profits being the only motive. There is a difference between a sale and a customer and Zeus clearly believes that one-time sales are preferable to a good relationship. I am disgusted and hope that potential buyers will take the time that I did not to look at the reviews before making a purchase.
Answer: No, he does NOT deliver on the orders he accepts. He takes your money, then nothing.
Answer: There's no way to get a refund through the website as Milo (the owner) Doesn't communicate, doesn't answer emails, doesn't reach out, doesn't even ship the products. Also there is no option to cancel your order through the website! Your only hope is to dispute the charge with your bank and have your credit card cancelled in order to prevent further thefts.
