The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for Yelp to address these serious concerns to rebuild trust among its users.

I want to leave a review for Yelp Business on Yelp, but cannot. I have a business, and payed (for 1 month) for their ad services. This was a huge, costly mistake! The only thing I ended up paying for was a massive and ongoing onslaught of spam calls and emails. That, and a bunch of leads that were irrelevant to my business (you have to pay for each lead regardless). It is obvious that they make their money selling their customers' info. The sales person was intentionally vague and misleading; not to mention irritatingly persistent. I want to leave a review, but neither Google nor Yelp has this option. Very messed up!
Yelp charged me $180 for one month of 8 clicks, which averaged $22.50 per click! That is an outrageous amount to spend! In an effort to keep their clients, they should consider having a max amount per click to avoid overcharging their customers. I canceled immediately after realizing how much they were charging me. Google is a much better option! I won't make this mistake again... I'm very disappointed in their unwillingness to make exceptions and provide good customer service. Don't make the same mistake I did.
I would not advise anyone or any small service guys who is looking for leads to get fooled by this company yelp which offer yelp credits of 300 and get you to leave your credit card before you can access the promotion. Then when you cancelled by the 30 days they say to you that you still have a promotion running and even you asked them to cancel all products they still bill your card for a certain amount for you to come off the program. Worst company to do look for leads they will show you a graph of people who they say click on your website or call you and even email you. Which you will never receive, only to lose your money. Will never ever use this company or no other leads company out there.
I was solicited by a man named chris who signed me up for advertising and then when i was charged without notification i immediately called them up. I canceled my running adds. Come to find out the next month i had another unauthorized charge for services... unto which i had thought i had canceled. Called them up again and they said that i needed to cancel the whole package and not just the adds and now im out of $115 for a service that i was told that i had previously canceled and ardent even signed up for!... I will no longer be using or paying for yelp for any business service or for my own business. They are trash!

He kept saying he is too busy --- Carol Greenspan - 307n Leverett Ave SI
Do not advertise with Yelp they don't help your business or the customers. They look for the worst picture on your photos posted by a customer and that's the first picture they show and if you have a bad review that's the first one they put. Even if you have 500 picture and only one bad one that's the one they show first. If you want to put another picture to come up first you have to pay them 350 a month. The minute you stop paying them the bad picture and bad review come up first again. They are gangster they should be removed they don't care about helping business they are constantly looking to steal your money don't give them a dime not worth it.
I cant wait until YELP has a class action law suit on their hands. What a horrible company. Not sure how they still exist, they remind me of a phone book... hmmm
Twice now I have provided evidence that the review of our business was fake, ther was never a customer named Paul Smith; has Yelp done anything to verify the review... NO! Yelp removed two 5 star reviews that were accurate and they refuse to verify a fake review. Avoid this company.
I had a paid account on Yelp and used their service for web support and ads until they removed truthful positive reviews of our office and then to add insult to injury, they refused to remove FAKE reviews. Yelp took our rating down from a five star business to a 3 star based upon a review that was not from a real customer. Writing to YELP was a waste of time. We pointed out that our business does not provide the service referred to in the refer nor have we had a customer from MN and yet refused to remove the FAKE review. Bottom line, pay another company to design your web page, do not advertise on this platform, as Yelp will not provide what they promise. They remove positive reviews and retain FAKE negative reviews and avoid any measure of customer service. You would do better by using smoke signals to advertise your business.

Trashy entitled wealthy people complain about those who weren't born with a silver spoon. I've seen many reviews that have 1 star to restaurants for being closed when the restaurant legally could not have been open due to Covid. That's just one example but yelp refuses to take completely unfair reviews down to cater to its wealthy entitled consumer base. I don't have a restaurant I just feel so bad for this nonsense
Yelp should be illegal. Where your good and bad reviews land is dependent on how much you spend on Yelp advertising. This is a shake down that tried to come after me for $300 a month.
Not enough help told fitter was working on a club grip, would not ring up my $100 order
Why go to a store and get POOR service
I'll order on Amazon
Yelp is an unethical political monstrosity!
I have been using Yelp for over 10 years. I am on the verge of deleting it because once again a review I have written has been removed. I was supporting a local business that decided to stay open during Covid but because it does not fit into their agenda they removed it. I have contacted them many times after coming across hateful speech and reviews that were harassing and violent. The majority of the time they do nothing because they state that it does not violate their content restrictions. Their policy is nonsensical and does not provide a safe and honest place for all reviewers.
I moved into a dirty, unkept home in July of 2020 through Jeanie Miller and Rose McKinney at R&C Real Estate Investments LLC. This company has a reputation of running scams to keep people's move-in deposits, so I took pictures of all the filth and damage at move in. I had the property professionally cleaned at move out and was still charged for all the previous damages, bad paint etc. that was there when I moved in. I was aware of the scam the company runs to keep people's deposits due to the reviews. I thought I was safe guarding myself by taking tons of pictures at move-in and a video at move-out. During the walk-through at move-out, I was told that they were not allowed to tell me or point out any damages to me. I told her I was there because I needed to see everything/any claims for myself. This company kept $1,400 of my $1,500 deposit and charged me for all the damages, old blinds, corroded door knobs & everything else that I previously mentioned and took pictures of (and sent to them). This company is running a scam and the multiple reviews on this company support my claim. My claim comes with time stamps, pictures and videos. I only owed for landscaping, 1 door knob and 1 garage door open at the time of move out and that's it. I would like this company to refund my $1,260 deposit. I will be attaching the damaged & dirty pictures at move in & the video of the clean home at move out.
If there is rating below 1 I would choose it, they are shady, manipulative and misleading, always deleting your positive reviews under a shallow excuse that this is automated, until you subscribe and pay by then miracles happen, if you're a customer searching through their app for a good service and products you'll be deceived, on the other side if you created a business account with them you are trapped.
All you have to do is watch Billion Dollar Bully on Tubi or Amazon OR just talk to your business owner friends and independent entrepreneurs... Unless you are spending money with Yelp, their review filtering software will "coincidentally" perceive your clients' reviews as fake, leaving your listing either looking like you've never helped someone OR even worse, that you have "4 reviews that are NOT RECOMMENDED"... Which, when they are all 5-start positive/raving reviews, looks like you actually have a 0-star rating with 4 reviews that are all "not recommended" which can easily be construed as 4 negative reviews. I called their customer service about this issue. As soon as I said the word and action being "extortion"-like he got extremely defensive and snapped at me. He then proceeded to tell me the reason I'm not attracting Yelp users, whose reviews are less likely to be filtered out, is not because I have no reviews... but "because I'm not getting any exposure" and proceeds to enter into an Ad Sales pitch. Wow, literally the worst thing you could do after I mentioned they are extorting business for Ad revenue. It blows my mind completely. I posted an image of my 50+ reviews from Google, FB and Yelp (even though Yelp's reviews aren't visible from the listing unless they click "4 reviews for BertWill Health that are not currently recommended". Why did I register a business listing with Yelp!? Once you do, after reading the terms, you will realize that once you create a listing and add it to Yelp... you can NEVER have your listing removed. Great job, Yelp! Thank God for platforms like this.
Once you subscribe to Santana Adventures, you are automatically LOCKED IN to receive tons and tons and tons of email advertisements from that company. Unfortunately, I was (and maybe still am) a victim of this company whose robots constantly bombard you with advertisements for cycling/cruise trips domestically and internationally.
I have written to that company many, many times to STOP sending me all those advertisements, but guess what? They still come flowing into my computer; of course, I delete them immediately. They are like horrid wasps constantly trying to "sting" you into buying their overpriced products.
By the way, you will notice that no prices are attached to those advertisements. Nope! And I finally was able to determine the price for a particular trip, the cost was astronomical--completely off the charts. For example, an 8-day trip costs $5,000 per PERSON(!), but there is no mention about whether or not there is a single supplement. In brief, if you want to get ripped off big time from this company, go ahead. Be my guest.
Nevertheless, those advertisements will keep coming, no matter what you do. You're STUCK! Therefore, NEVER subscribe! Lesson learned--the HARD way!
I recently had to call Yelp with help on my business account. I just wanted to say the agent I spoke to was really rude - cutting me off mid-sentence, acting condescending, etc. I am not taking it too personally, but I do think it's not good for business and is unnecessary. Kindness goes a long way.
I know Yelp is an ethically ambiguous company, I've known that for years. I used to work in sales about 10 years ago and always heard complaints from small business owners about the predatory nature of Yelp sales reps and the rude gaslighting staff. Sifting around the internet... it seems like there are lots of complaints of this nature.
I'm sure for many people, Yelp is just a job. But what is it with your bad reputation? Is it just top-down narcissism? Northern California tech bro snobbery? Too much Adderall? Lay off that $#*!, if so. Seriously. Go drink some green tea or something.
I only use Yelp for additional promotion, but it's been nice seeing Google Maps become a more often used and better version of Yelp. I know Google isn't a saint, don't get me wrong.
Anyways, mini rant over. Just maybe make an effort to hire and retain kinder people - don't cut off customers, it's rude. You're not that smart, that's the Adderall and cold brew talking. Get over yourselves.
They filter legit reviews to keep you at lower ratings if you call them they blame the system and automatic soft wear that decides what's best for Yelp and not for business it's empowering some of the worst customers to blackmail and destroy business reputation they allow to write lies and sugar coat to extreme made up stories these are the same people that go around take pictures or food plates and feel they can say anything within four walls without any confirmation from the business or seeking mediation jus like BBB no sir let them damage the business and ask them to advertise with them they should charge the consumer to pay to write a review and penalize them if they are proven false by taking their credit card in the system and have a balanced policy not one sided
Their reviews are a total scam. They hide a lot of reviews that are legitimate, because they use some algorithm that determines that if a reviewer is not a regular Yelp user they are not consider "legitimate". They are hurting a lot of businesses, And most of the ones with good reviews are those paying for adveritisng! Businesses should be allowed to opt out of being listed in this sham site, they are hurting good businesses with their ilegitimate software algorithm. They should be sued and shut down! Why has the government allowed them to continue with their sham?
Yelp is just a bunch of thieves hungry to get your money. They offered my business a coupon for free advertising. So I trust on they for a third time. The Senior Elite Account Director 3, Ryan Grant told me it will be free for a period of time, and he make me enable logo, license, keywords, portfolio, and more PAID features. On the third day of the campaign I already noticed a charge of $83 on my account and never received a call or a feeds from a customer.
Do not adverse on YELP. They just want to get your money. They don't remove reviews from people that never did business with you. Anybody can post a fake review on
Yelp and talk bad about your company and Yelp don't care at all.
Answer: Yes, it's true or they go to "not recommended"
Answer: Yelp are crooks, find some where else
Answer: For one of my business they made me pay for their monthly service which I never did, so my positive review was hidden.
Answer: Look somewhere else. As the reviews here show Yelp is notoriously unreliable.
Answer: Yes they erase all reviews they darn well wish to delete. CROOKED YELP!
