Yelp Reviews Summary

The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for Yelp to address these serious concerns to rebuild trust among its users.

I own an 86 year old floral business. Both on a personal and business level I have found that Yelp is more concerned with their algorythms than they are with the facts. They continue to hound me for their advertising dollars, but refuse to listen to me when I flag a review as problematic. I am open to honest reviews, but not ones that are directly from competitors. It's interesting to me that when they want my advertising dollars they will call me, but when I need to discuss a fake or misleading review I can only deal with their computers. It's time to put this site out of business and let small business get on with staying in business.

Clay Cooley Kia Irving
November 15, 2022

DO NOT BUY FROM CLAY COOLEY KIA IRVING - HERE'S WHY.
I made a verbal appointment with Michael at Kia Irving this past Saturday at 9:00 a.m. to test drive an EV6. His response was that he would have the keys available and ready to test drive. Upon arrival at 9:00, I found he was in a meeting.
After 30 minutes, three loudspeaker notifications from the receptionist for, "Michael, you have a customer waiting", and two text from me, he did not respond.
While he was in the meeting, the IT guy quickly ushered me into Michael's office to gather my information which had included my interest in the EV6 and Telluride, as well as my interest in not purchasing that day because my granddaughter was arriving at 9:30 and that I had to be available to pick her up then.
When his meeting was over around 9:35, he walked out and brushed off his delay as if the delay was not a big deal.
He wanted me to follow him into his office, but I told him that I shared my info with the IT guy previously.
He then proceeded into his office, reviewed my statement and when he returned his response was shocking to say the least, and had said, "If you are not buying the EV6 TODAY, the door out is behind you", and he turned around and walked away.
I was appalled by his response especially since I am a paying customer and VERY interested in purchasing a Kia, but just not that day.
Afterwards, his managers approached me and listened to my complaint but never once were they willing to make the situation better.
I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT INTO A CLAY COOLEY DEALERSHIP AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND OTHERS DO NOT AS WELL.

If you do not buy adverising from Yelp they will black mail you. Most good, honest, hard-earned reviews posted for your business will be hidden in the "not recommended" box, no one will see them. A dishonest for-profit manipulation. Do not give Yelp your business.

November 3, 2022

Sgined up with yelp for my business got charged 200 more then what we talked about. Then they kept billing my card and adding thing to it. Try to call multiple times and email. No one ever got back to me. Spend hours calling. Just for them to hang up on you. Worst customer service ever. If you are a business stay away. Go to another platform.

I'm a business owner and have had a free Yelp listing for years. I was offered a $350 credit for an ad. Their pricing is lead based, so the credit did not have an expiration date, but would gradually be used up as I got leads. There is no set price for leads so it's impossible to know how quickly your budget will be used up. When I tried to cancel it was confusing and I couldn't figure it out on my own, so I reached out several times to the Yelp rep that signed me up and couldn't ever get a response. Long story short, I ended up being charged $540 for a few weeks of ads, and bear in mind that is after a $350 credit. It's difficult to determine whether any actual business was generated by the ads because their reports are so impossible to understand. Now the blame is partially on me for not doing my due diligence in this situation. However, Yelp is like any other business avoiding transparency and making their offer sound as good as possible without any clarity about what your getting, what you'll be charged, and when. If you're considering paying for ads with them, just do a lot of research to understand exactly what you're paying for. In my opinion, the product is worthless. The cost per lead is unbelievably high. I accepted their "credit" against my better judgment, and after this experience, I will never do business with them again. I would discourage anyone else from doing business with them.

Will never give you an answer or a call back, or any kind of message except for 1 saying they received you claim, and it will be 15 days. It is now going on since August and I have received nothing except them telling me it will be 30 days, then another 30 days, and even when I talk to a supervisor, and have it expidited, I get nothing. Cannot get a manager on the phone or the person who is handling the claim. I am promised a call back, but it never comes. Do not waste your money on these people, even though Princess uses them, get your own insurance, but stay away from AON affinity insurance. Get insurance, just not these people.

Yelp has been an absolute nightmare for my business. They have continuously removed legitimate 5 star reviews from my business page, taking them off of the "recommended" category, moving them into a "not recommended" category where the rating has no affect on my over all "star average". These are 100% verified, unbiased reviews left by actual customers in which I had no interaction with. On the other hand, they continue to leave fake 1 star reviews from friends of 1 star reviewers in the recommended category bringing my overall star average down tremendously. And it's not just my business that they attack on a daily basis.

Their relentless pursuit to destroy small businesses in order to make a profit needs to end. They take the side of ignorant (uneducated) reviewers in lies, harassment and defamation.

Additionally, they have refused to remove my personal cell phone number, email address and contact information from their site violating their own policies on numerous occasions, along with breaking US laws (https://www.yelp-support.com/article/Can-I-report-a-review-if-I-think-it-contains-someones-private-or-personal-information).

There's been a documentary about them called the "Billion Dollar Bully" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt*******/)… and it's suits them.

One of these days it'll come back to get them, but for now - it'll be up to small business owners like myself to speak out and seek legal action. I surely hope that it's sooner than later that we can get a class action (or something of the sort) to stop their illegal practices and shut them down once and for all. One of the worst, if not THE worst companies on the planet.

Yelp has to be the worst company on the planet when it comes to how they treat the valued businesses that are forced to be on their network. Yelp tends to delete legitimate positive reviews and keep the negative reviews active. They do this to try and sell you advertising to increase your positive reviews. One of the worst companies on the web. STAY AWAY! Very untrustworthy company.

YELP SUCKS
October 18, 2022

Yelp has ZERO interest in helping businesses with any false or fictitious reviews. They will allow bad reviews that hurt your star rating even for reviews we have proof were not associated or were not a customer of our business. I think it's weak to be a keyboard warrior and bust out a company based on one bad experience. Buck up and call the management. I've asked YELP to help me with several issues and they've NEVER helped me with one. We stopped all advertising with them. One reviewer even said right on their review we've never done business with them... YELP told me oh well not our problem. YELP is NOT pro business.

I wrote a review of Travel Transparency and it was remoed because they didn't think I had gone there. That is totally wrong. Everyone should know what skam artists Travel Transparency is. It looks like someone paid to have my negative review removed. I am disgussed with the quality of the work Yelp is doing, I can't trust a single review posted. Everyone should beware.

Scam company
October 7, 2022

I own a business & yelp reached out to "help" promote our business, etc. Nonetheless, they started to overcharge for about $2,000.00 per month. I ask them why so much since I was not seeing any return of investment. They just said, well for every click a costumer makes we charge for that. What a crappy company. Don't list with yelp. I'm suing them.

Yelp refuses to understand the nature of our business, allowing a false sabotage style review to stay posted. Having read other negative YELP reviews, there's a pattern that they actually encourange negative views so to get the business owner to then purchase advertisements to offset.

4 times they have not recommended my legitimate reviews from real customers. Potential customers should be able to see my five-star reviews. I bet if I got a negative review they would recommend it. DON'T PUT your business on yelp, they will call you repeatedly trying to get you to spend money on adds and say real reviews are fake

If you have a small business do not put it on yelp.

Everything from their ad offerings to their review guidelines/processes, they do not have small business success on their agenda. When I started my business I used their ads program and spent $2000 to get nothing back.

They allow people to leave reviews that haven't even used our business and when we report the reviews they say their legit. I know for a fact they don't ask for proof of service from these reviewers because we don't have these people as clients.

I've asked to remove my business from their platform because I have less than three stars on yelp but everywhere else my business is listed I have 4.8 stars and up. They refuse because "people deserve to know what other people think of your business and this is a public information site." If that were true they would include reviews from places like google and Facebook, those are also public.

This company is terrible and I don't recommend them at all.

Ring
September 23, 2022

I've been without my ring device since July. It wasn't working and I was supposed to get a call back on next day. Mgr. didn't call. On Sept. 3 I was promised a new device in 10-15 days. I called today 9/22/2022 and was told they didn't see an order for replacement at all. Someone is supposed to call me back at 5:00 p.m. tomorrow. We'll see what happens. Bad customer service and follow up. I hate it.

I have an small company and I decided to introduce for free my company in Yelp accepting their conditions of advertising other companies in my own company page. They called me like 20 times to offer me their pay services. I refuse to go to the pay way and continue with my free account. After that, they started to filtering my real reviews from customers based in an algorithm they have to "protect my business" and I'll write here one example of my reviews: "5 Starts review: Thorough job. Happy with the results. Will give new projects". My question: what's wrong with that review? How that review threatened my company or my person? What's Yelp is doing is so illegal with customers. They basically hide all your reviews and let you to have only one visible review for free to force you to do a business with they.

Their sales person called and sold me a discounted program. I emailed her the next day to cancel because I didn't want to move forward. 30 days later I get a charge on my account for over $500. I called Yelp to complain and ask for my money back. They said that you can't speak to anyone, you have to fill out a form and they will review it in 10 business days and get back to you. In the meantime my bank account was racking up fees and they still wouldn't help. I was given many excuses such as, they're working from home and can't connect me to anyone else, the managers take up to 10 business days to get back to you if you leave a message, they aren't allowed to expedite any claims, and it's not their problem that I didn't have enough money in my account to cover a charge like this. I'm beyond frustrated with this company. Their customer service is horrible and I will never recommend using their paid services!
