They did not give any reason why transaction was canceled and why the account was disabled.
At the moment, the money is still "locked" on my credit card.
SCANDALOUS.
Don't use this. Seriously.

BIG SCAM - THEY STOLE OUR MONEY
February 14, 2018

We sent 1000 euros (1700 SGD) to our landlord in Singapore.

After 1 week of not receiving his money, our landlord got really angry at us.
But it turned out that he had made a mistake in the bank account number that he provided us.

So we accidentally gave the wrong bank account number to Worldremit. (there was one too many zero at the end - tiny mistake)

We asked them if they could replace the account number with the correct one to finally make the transaction to our landlord.

Here is what they replied:
"Unfortunately, a recall won't be possible for this transaction. Which means, we won't be able to get your money back or transfer these to the correct bank account number."? What?

To which we replied:
"So what will happen with this money? Are you going to steal it?
What does that mean? This is 1000 euros that we are talking about. "

To which they replied with a lie saying that the money went to the person with the wrong bank account instead of going to our landlord. This is a lie because the bank account number that we gave Worldremit had one too many number in it. It was not the wrong bank account number. It was a bank account number with too many numbers in it. So it did not match with anybody else in the bank.

Please be aware. Worldremit is a SOMALIAN company that pretends to be from the UK. After a quick search in Google, we discovered that the company is owned by a "gentleman" called Ismail Ahmed. They will just find any excuse to steal your money.

Cancel transaction without notice
February 3, 2018

Lately this company cancelled two of my transaction without any reason. Worst thing is first it accept credit card on their webpage and after 4-5 days will inform card not acceptable! This happened two times with me. Only answer their customer service will that payment gateway not accepting it and they can't do anything about it. So unsure about the future of my transaction with them anymore. Not using their service now.

After using worldremit for almost 2 years, doing some 200 or more transfers to various countries in West Africa (I work there) they suddenly came to ask me to submit a scan of my passport and tell from every transfer in the past (!) how I know the person (give evidence of it!) and what the transfer was for. Also they wanted to know to who and for what amount I would be doing transfers in the next year. As it was impossible for me to go into detail about 200+ transactions I told them it would take about one week to do that work, so I only provided info on the only person I would be transferring to in future. That was not acceptable for them and the cancelled my account. Totally ridiculous and unreasonable requests for information. Companies who turn away their best customers like this do not deserve to operate.

Difficult to send as new user
December 27, 2017

Worldremit hold my first transfer and called in the middle of last night! So I called them today morning and after 30 minutes of call. Hold... check etc. etc. And about 20 questions about the recipient, told they may clear my transfer (excellent!). Maybe they would not do it again during next transfers, but still... hell of effort to pass their scrutiny as a new user!

Account Disabled no explanation
November 23, 2017

I used World Remit for the first time in November of 2017 to send $200 USD to the Philippines. The money was withdrawn from my bank in the US but then moments later I received an email stating my account was disabled. I replied asking the reason for this and got a response a day later stating they could not give me an exact reason but I do not have an account with them anymore.
I will never know why this happened after I submitted all my personal information to them. Im guessing this is just an info collecting company.

WITHDREW MONEY, THEN CANCELLED!
June 29, 2017

THEY WITHDREW THE MONEY FROM MY CHECKING ACCOUNT AND THEN PROMPTLY DISABLED THE ACCOUNT!

For my first experience with WorldRemit, I am left with a very poor opinion of this company and services. This was much worse than most other online transactions I have encountered.

After I sent the money, I got a message that said: "Account disabled," which is severely vague. This error message only serves to SCARE people and make them look like ONLINE FRAUD!

This seems to be a fraudulent service and I will be seeking remedy. This merely wasted my time during an emergency.

Not your judicious servant at all
March 19, 2017

My experience with worldremit.com has not ended well. I went from being a good customer to a some kind of unexplained criminal suspect in a matter of moments, when I phoned for help in sending money to a friend overseas in an emergency. I was asked personal questions one would not expect to be asked - and in a rude manner - by anyone who is about to get your money for a simple service. Worldremit renders the power of judgement and sentence upon its simple "customer service" agents.

That being the case, if you get a bad agent, you don't have a chance to complete your legal business. Such a person is the only person you will be able to talk with on the phone if you have a problem in sending help to those who need it. You will get no supervisor, even if promised a supervisor. You will get no access other than the employee you are speaking to at the time you are speaking to him or her. Worldremit shields its upper echelon staff as much as the President of the United States is shielded from criticism and challenge by any member of the public. This business does what it likes, from within a cocoon of arrogant self-righteousness.

Worldremit has behaved capriciously and dishonestly with me. I am glad these people don't serve in law enforcement or in justice, and I hope they don't sit on juries. Worldremit cannot be trusted for fair play, or for fair judgement. I am glad I am now with another company.

worldremit.com never considered what I had to say, and never gave me the chance to communicate in any way with someone in worldremit who could have overruled the 'customer service' person on the phone, who didn't know how to listen.

World Remit - Don't Use
October 19, 2016

I sent $600 overseas to a company that I do business with. Although I have done numerous international wire transfers without problems, it was my 1st trime with World Remit. The recepient never received the money and has sent numerous copies of his statement I have called World Remit everyday for the past month. THey only tell me they are investigating and keep asking for another statement. They have the worst customer service and now I have lost $600 and it is doubtful I will ever get it back.

In my case, the receiver did not pick up the money at the destination, and WorldRemit then refunds the money back to the sender's account. WorldRemit sent me an email saying that the refund was put back into my bank account, using WorldRemit's Interac service called beanstream. When the money did not show up in my bank account, I sent WorldRemit a copy of my bank statement, showing that the refund was not in my bank account. After many phone calls and emails, and lengthy delays, WorldRemit was finally able to track what happened to my refund through beanstream, and the money was deposited again to my account. The customer service representatives at WorldRemit were always polite when talking to them on the phone.

Terrible customer service
April 11, 2016

I sent 1500 USD and after 2 weeks, I still do not know where the money is. It says transaction in progress. I am not able contact customer support for several days - no answers on phone calls, no email answers. The service is terrible.

I have been using WorldRemit for near one year now for regular transfers (principally to friends in the Philippines). After an initial difficulty with the web site and sincere efforts by World Remit staff to assist me, I can now indicate that this company is head and shoulders above any other in the ease and consistency of their service at a competitive price.

No, I am not a company "plant of stooge", I am just a very satisfied customer that believes in recognising the efforts of a company to be the very best in their field.

It is fact that I was initially publicly critical of aspects of the way World Remit conducted its' business and in particular some of WR staff who were overzealous in contacting me (one in the very early hours of the morning!) in an attempt to bully me into upgrading my online reviews to a 5 star rating.

I have waited now over six months to re-review World Remit's performance and having used the longest running international money transfer company (with very poor results and many problems in recent times), can now recommend without hesitation; World Remit!
