I have been using WorldRemit for over 4 years to regularly send money to family in The Philippines.
The deposit to bank accounts or cash pickups have always been fast and correct.
You obviously have to be 100% correct in the account details but never had any problems.
It is extremely difficult to get a hold of them. The system will transfer the call to a recording music, which will make you wait for hours! Then, in the middle of the talking or conversation, the line cuts up or the line hungs up! Then you call again and again wait...
They admitted to refund my money and asked me to wait 7 businesss days. After 7 days I see nothing and call them again. They ask me to contact my bank. I did, bank ensured definitely world remit didn't refund anything.
Then I call again them, this time they admitted their refund failed after seversl calls and waiting for many hours on the line.
10 days later they say they refunded successfully and again wait for 7 days. Passed 7 days... nothing happened.
£50 of £250 sent went missing. Predominantly rude, sour staff. They cant be bothered to answer the phone. Manager did not call me back. Rude call "assistant" hung up on me., and calls cut off multiple Gave a substantially lower exchange rate than confirmed, and £30 of the funds sent disappeared. I spent about 5 hours trying to resolve this, unbelievable that they are allowed to trade. If you want your money to disappear into the pocket of crooks this is definitely the company to choose
WorldRemit took my bank transfer but refused to acknowledge receipt of my money.
After a few days, they cancelled my transaction and cannot be contacted via online chat, email nor phone.
It has been 3 weeks and my money is not yet returned.

I tried to send money to Kenya. Less that 2 minutes after I made the transaction they sent me an email saying that they have closed my account and cancelled my transaction. And that's after they had already taken my money. Their help page is useless
I sent funds during the CoV pandemic to several Filipino friends, as I travel often. WorldRemit improperly processed one as a cash advance rather than a purchase, so I called customer support. The CSR suggested emailing customer service and that the email would be properly routed, so I did. I received no response until a week later, when I received this gem:
"Dear Jeremy,
After a review of your account and transaction history, it has been determined that your account does not pass WorldRemit security checks. Due to these circumstances, your account is now permanently disabled, and you will no longer be able to transact through WorldRemit systems.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
Should you have any questions regarding this email, please contact our Customer Service Team with WorldRemit through the phone number listed on our website (*******771).
Best Regards,
WorldRemit Customer Service"

I have transferred 400$ to myself from a... country on August 21 to Canada. Was promised to receive the amount on my account in 2 days. A week later i was still calling to know when I shall receive my money. All they could say was they were processing. I finally decided to cancel the transactions, 24hours later I was requested to provide a bank statement for my money to be refunded which i did immediately, but I am still waiting for my money. It did not come back to my account. Anyway to sue these s... of b...
World remit took my money 233 euros from my account after that i got an error at their website. And they are now claiming they have never recieved my money. They are non cooperating and i will take further legal actions now to this company.
AVOID WORLDREMIT! They are thieves! Even one star is too much for this company
They have taken my money yet when the recipient tries to collect they turn her away saying nothing is in the system. I Have since spoken with customer services however it's been ongoing for almost two months now! They have wasted so much time for my reciepeint going back and forth to her local branch to be told the same thing when customer services are telling me it's sorted! 5 times she has travelled now during a pandemic as well! No apologies either they don't care about there customers just taking money. Still waiting for a refund 6 weeks later...
I tried to make a transaction with World Remit on the 27/7/2020 only to receive an email 2 days later to say my transaction 'did not meet the criteria' and that my funds will be refunded. It is now the 19/8/2020 and despite repeated requests I am still waiting for my refund. I have emailed bank statements repeatedly as requested and I have contacted the Live Chat for help. I am repeatedly told that my 'refund is still in progress'. I was first told 5-7 working days and then that it takes 10 working days. It has been more than 3 weeks now and despite another Live Chat I am still waiting.
I used Worldremit for almost a year and the service is OK. I ran into a problem that can easily be fixed and the Custom Service department will not look into it. Customer Service is horrible. They are inept and non responsive. They will tell you that it will be up to business days to receive a refund. They tell you that to get you off the phone and wait, there is no refund coming. Use at your own risk.
They did not send my money to designated destination, claiming that their "local partner" was going to remit money. Three bank names they gave all rejected any claims for my money. It was never delivered. I asked to cancel transaction and used western union to send money. Now they are saying that their local partner has refused to cancel the transaction. I believe that this company could be a scam.
Pros: good exchange rate and low fees compared to others
Con: first transfer required a phone call, hold for a bit long but then no issues so far on future transfers online.
Also they have referral codes (first transfer) and promo code (first 3 free) if you want to try for $20 after transfer of $100 or more, Link->
https://www.worldremit.com/en/refer-a-friend/invited?code=DANIELR1371
Plus use promo code 3FREE for first 3 free transfers.
If you have a credit card with a low cash advance fee (and pay off quickly for not much interest accrued) then it seems a good deal because worldremit has not charged an extra fee (usually 3% or 4% like others when using a credit card).
Another alternative if this does not work for you is walmart moneygram online (cheaper fees than standard moneygram online or in person).
I did transaction on 15/07/2020 and today is 06/08/2020 neither made transfer nor refund. Chased them couple of times by email, calls, chat but so far no response. Dont use them anymore
I wanted to send money to a friend in Nepal for pickup. I set up a World Remit Account, then initiated the transfer. To do this, I had to place my debit card in my account. I received a confirmation email and saw that a withdrawal was initiated from my account. Five days later, on the day the money was to be available I tried logging into my account and received the message "account disabled" I then looked at my bank account, and the withdrawal no longer showed. I had received, and still haven't received an email as to why the transfer didn't occur, and why my account was disabled after 5 days. I spoke to the bank who said the transfer was left in pending status. To protect myself I cancelled my debit card and requested a new one. This was very concerning and makes me unsure as to how to transfer the money other than to use Western Union.
WorldRemit stole my money. I wanted to send money toThailand, but they sent me an email where they told me the transaction could not be done, because they claimed that the receipient's details were incorrect. But I sent money to the same receipient with them before - with exactly the same detals. The first time the money was transferred as they should. Then I asked WorldRemit to cancel the last transaction since they claimed the detailes were incorrect. In my WorldRemit account, it showed that the transaction was cancelled. So I sent the money again - with another company. WolrldRemit have not returned my money. When I am contacting them to ask where my money is, they claim that they have transferred the money to the receipient - despite I asked the to cancel it and they confirmed the cancellation. The receipient did NOT get the money. I did NOT get my money back.
DO NOT USE THIS SCAM COMPANY!
Now I am using Western Union. They are faster. They are cheaper. They make the transaction much more easy. AND: They can be trusted.
DO NOT USE WorldRemit! You can expect your money will disappear in mysterious ways..
DON'T use this SCAM! I've got already scammed!. I've lost my money and never arrived my money. Support is horrible and they never release your funds and keep telling you lies. DON'T DON'T USE THIS SERVICE! YOU WILL DEFINITELY GET SCAMMED!
They withdraw money before confirmation of transaction. Once withdrawn immediately the refund process takes up to 7 days to complete. After complaining the service rep claims to be a subservient of their computer system. Beware of any company where a computer controls people! As you can see based other reviews this is common practice for this company.
I have sent money through world remit few times, their rates are not great but I did because it was urgent. It was all ok until their system had an issue and one of the transactions was cancelled by them, since then I can't get my money back, every time I call I get a different reason as to why, and today I also learned that I have to send them my Bank statement ( which has all my private info and bank account number) just so they can see if in fact the money was not deposited in my account. Its been almost two months of back and forth. Use the major companies like western union and money gram please.
