Previous worker for World Market. Don't get mad at the store associate, manager when you have to take an online order to the store for a return. Its awful for both you and us. It is as if we are looking at a different language. Like that for the seven years I worked there. The new thing I found and thought was so wrong was the amount discrepancy on the receipt or I should say receipts and when a customer showed me there online bank account, what they were charged. So if I were to give you a refund, you would be out at least $10 to $20 dollars. Usually, in the past I would see the cashier give more back because of the confusing receipt. I did give the customer back the correct amount they were charged, even though I had do it a work around way. The only thing I was figuring was they they were doing something with the tax before discount or something like this, to cheat the consumer out of some money if they were to do a return. So if you do a return on an online item, look at your bank statement and the receipt they give you and even have them print one out at the store, they could all be different. Something not right there. I always tried to look out for my customers, of course the company never looked out for me, so I left.

Candle almost burned my house down
July 27, 2025

I bought a candle from World Market and lit it for about a half hour. Next thing we know we hear the fire alarm went out and there was smoke everywhere in the kitchen and seeing flames the candle I bought from World Market the glass burst and let my table on fire and some of my flooring thank God my husband had to fast and got the fire out. If not our house would'veburnt down. I never in 1 million years thought glass from a candle would burst. Yes I called customer service and everyone and let them know what happened couple days later. They said it was the store. I bought it from fault and offered me a new candle or a gift card for whatI paid for the candle. What a joke

I'm Personally Done With World Market
July 16, 2025

On 5/31/25 my wife and I purchased from World Market online a Sansur Rustic Pecan Live Edge Wood Dining Table and two Sansur Rustic Pecan Live Edge Wood Dining Benches for a total of $1788. 45 including $296.00 for shipping and handling. At purchase we were advised a shipping agent would be contacting us to arrange delivery. On 6/25 I received a call from a shipping agent for AIT Logistics, Tenley IL. Advising they had picked up our order consisting of "two boxed items." They also advised that a driver from a more local shipping hub near our locality in SC would call to arrange a delivery date/time. I was advised to expect this contact call on approximately 16 June. With no prior notice we received two boxed packages on 6/13 – one bench in each box. There was no table with this delivery. I received an email confirmation from World Market that our order had been delivered. This confirmation with no mention of the table led to some concern, but I waited until the previously given estimated delivery call of 16 June to follow up. Hearing nothing on the 16th I then initiated an email query to World Market customer support requesting an update. I received a same-day response assigning a case number notifying me that my issue was escalated to their upper-level support team for further review and resolution. On 6/20 I received another World Market support team email which advised me that the rest of my order was in transit and the shipper had attempted to contact me on the 13th to schedule the delivery. I knew that this alleged call attempt was false as I had no incoming calls in my digital call log on the 6/13. This raised a red flag that things might not be in order. The email provided a "case number" and also advised me to reach out to the carrier at a given phone number to coordinate delivery. Calling the given number only yielded a recording prompting me to enter my order number and a subsequent automated advisory that my shipment was in transit. Multiple calls to this number yielded the same result. Despite multiple attempts over the next several days, I found it impossible to get beyond automated response recordings at AIT or World Market. On 6/23 I finally called AIT at the number for the agent who initially reached out on 5 June and managed to reach a live agent by choosing not to enter my order number when the automated response line prompted. The agent once again advised that the system reported my order as in transit. She stated that she would reach out to someone at the intermediate shipping hub for clarification and that she would call me back. I did not receive a call back that day or the next, so I again reached out AIT on 6/25 for an update. Speaking to the same person as before, I was advised that no one responded to her initial query but she would make another attempt while I was placed on hold. She succeeded in obtaining and relaying the following details to me: My table shipment consisted of two boxed packages (I'm assuming one for the top and one for the legs). Only one of the packages was forwarded while the other was mistakenly left behind. They are holding the forwarded boxed shipment at an intermediary hub until the second boxed shipment is rejoined at which time a delivery can be arranged. She also gave me the name and number of the person at the intermediate shipping hub and advised that I would be called with further updates. On 6/27 after receiving no further contact or updates my wife and I had lost all enthusiasm for the product and the process. I was now concerned that I would be stuck in an interminable non-delivery loop which would continue beyond reason. Both my wife and I were "over it" and were tired of seeing two useless benches sitting in a dining room with no table. On 6/27 my wife found a phone number for World Market customer support other that the one posted online and managed to reach a live agent. We stated a desire to cancel the order so that we could pursue alternatives. The agent initially responded that she couldn't cancel an order that had already shipped but with some persistence on our part, she agreed to contact the AIT Logistics for clarification while we waited on hold. When the World Market agent rejoined us on the call, she immediately advised that she would cancel the order and process a refund to my card. When asked about the benches in our possession, she stated that we could also return these to the nearest store for refund. She promised that she would take care of this personally and send an email on 6/29 confirming the refund for the table. She gave us a new case number as reference to the conversation. We turned in the benches the next day and received a refund for those items. On 6/29 we did not receive a confirming email on the table refund which was totally in character with the process so far. We gave a day grace before we contacted World Market yet again for an update on promised table refund. We reached a different agent, gave him our case number, and he confirmed that no refund action had taken place. He initiated the refund himself. Thinking that we were finally going to be made whole at the end of this unfortunate drama, we were once again disappointed. This agent stated that we would not be refunded the $296.00 in shipping and handling (but he did award us a new case number)! Obviously, World Market didn't want to eat the cost of this "shipping-go-round" so they decided that it was best that we enjoy that meal. Mistakes were made all around – World Market and AIT Logistics in the shipping fiasco, and us in the decision to do business with World Market in the first place.

Very poor quality and service
April 25, 2025

Really disappointed with my order. The product looked nice online, but what I received felt cheap and didn't work properly. Delivery took way longer than promised, and customer service was slow and unhelpful. Not worth the money. I won't be buying from here again.

YOU NEED TO BECAREFUL WHILE DEALING WITH World Market.
April 10, 2025

Exercise caution when considering this platform, as they make promises of high returns and use enticing language. It is becoming increasingly challenging to discern what is genuine. It is advisable for individuals to maintain a distance from this platform. (BORE)\ OAK\L^TD helped me recIaim my initial capital along with the profits.

I was ready to order a Kiann rounded wool bench when I found it was made with all natural products except for MDF! This is the third piece of furniture I decided not to buy from World Market because of MDF. Please! Please stop using MDF in your furinture. I am sure you have a say on how your products are made. No formaldehyde or other toxic chemicals in your products!

World Market SUCKS!
January 20, 2025

Website says they have the product in stock at my local store. I go there, but there's none in stock. When I ask about tit, the cashier says "yeah, we haven't had that for a while." Me: Why does the website say it's in stock in this store? Cashier: "The website says it's here in the store when it's just on the truck on the way here. It'll probably be here soon." A week later World Market sends me a personalized EMAIL telling me the product is back in stock and available at my local store. I immediately order it online to be picked up at my local store, figuring they can fulfill it in an hour or two. My order is confirmed via email but I get no follow up "ready to pick up" update. The next day I still get no update, so I call the phone number in the confirmation email, which is not a local # and is answered by an obviously remote worker answering from their home. She's looking online and tells me it's out of stock. I said is it out of stock because it's being used to fill my order from yesterday? She says I don't think so. There's none at the local store but there is some at the warehouse. I ask if anyone was going to update me about my order status. She didn't know and asked if I wanted her to cancel my order. I said, no. I'd like it to be filled. Did the local store receive the order? Do they have plans to fill the order? Would it be sent from the warehouse to my local store to fill my order? She said I'd have to call my local store to find out. I call the store. They didn't know or receive anything about my order. I give them the confirmation # and they find the record of the order from the previous day but it was never conveyed to them. Have they had this product in the local store the last 3-4 weeks? Nope. Will this order be filled? They have no idea. They take my phone number and say a manager will investigate and call me back. No one ever calls back. Later that night I get an email telling me my order has been cancelled.

How is this company still in business?

World market has basically robbed me of $220.
January 8, 2025

Well, it's safe to say I will not be shopping here anymore.
I found some chairs that I liked online but like to look at things in person before I buy them. These particular chairs were not available in store so I had to purchase them based on the pictures alone online. Of course there were shipping costs. It did say online any order over $50, shipping would be free. The two chairs I picked out were over $600. But wouldn't you know it, if your item is too big there is a large item shipping cost and free shipping cannot be applied to the order. This is a furniture store, everything is going to be large items. So, I was charged over $200 in shipping fees. I did not think anything of it because the chairs looked like good quality and just what I was looking for... And there was a 60-day return policy. And for goodness sakes, this is world market, they'll stand by their furniture, especially when I can't see it in person.
After receiving the chairs and looking at them, they were not what I was expecting judging from what they look like in the pictures online I decided to return them. The only way we were going to be able to return them was to drive them to the store, which was over an hour away from my house. The store in Modesto was very helpful and took them back without a hitch. The staff that helped me out gave me a confirmation number for my money that was supposed to be put back in my account. Two days later we received money from world market. It was $220 less than what we paid for the chairs. After writing an email to them asking for a full refund and them saying basically, "no, we're not going to do that." I called them and talked to them on the phone. I got the same results. They said they would not be refunding the $220. Which was all the shipping cost. So for a chair, I could not go see in a store and had to order. Which I had every intention of keeping. It was what I was looking for, I am being charged $220 to just look at it. The chairs were not damaged and were returned to them, Yet they are refusing to give me all of my money back. I guess this is the kind of tactics you pull. If you don't stand behind your furniture. They must know a lot of people are going to return their furniture and are just trying to get their money anyway they can. I am telling all my friends and I for sure will not be buying from World Market ever again!

Some Patience Needed
November 27, 2024

Usually shop at WM when visiting US. Love browsing and picking up the unique items. Had a disheartening experience in the WM in Shreveport. After browsing for over an hour i left my cart for about 5 mins to look at a piece of antique furnitiure i wanted to buy. During that time one of the associates took my cart emptied and return it. Never had that experience in that in the 15 years or so i have been shopping at WM. Perhaps it because its thanksgiving? Rating for today is 2

Right in the door we knew how much time should be the focus of the customer. Not buying stuff. Later closer to 8 I'm sitting on a chair with a wine bottle waiting for my wife in the distance trying to ask the manager and getting flack and no answers about ten minutes. We're 61 and 55 and got racist treatment because of our mixed raceness. Are you together. Are you waiting for someone. Questions to criminalize and disrespect us. Something you wouldn't ask a person you respected. She was so conscious if her clocking out. She lost site if her customers and treated them like dirt. Later in line she and her rude cashier let us have it by talking over us. Much to their chagrin they did stay later by their own mmeanness. It took them 15 minutes to explain the price difference of the 7.99 wine that was really 11.99. They were so mean and hostile to us I just walked out and said to my beautiful wife. Honey I gotta go. Good luck getting a fair price and/ or explanation and left. By 8:15 she was back in the car. I am personally afraid to return myself. I've never been so attacked personally in my life. This manager singled us out and made us very uncomfirtab I e. Usually world market is very civilized but I think this manager is not representative of world markets values. Bully. Closemindedness. Intolerant. And should be reprimanded. 2%22/24 bWorld Market

On line store is a scam!
February 11, 2024

I have only purchased items from World Market on line twice and both times has been a problem. As many others have said here, when you purchase on line it says is in stock. Then you go to pick it up at the shop and you realize the order is incomplete, the manager says he doesn't know what happened, but the rest will arrive at some point. In my case, I ordered 4 bottles of Herdez Chipotle cream. I received the wrong salsa, and only 3 bottles not 4. I paid $25.45. I went to return the order to the shop nearest to me. I showed my order purchase and they refunded me only $12.35. I pointed out that was wrong, she says, we can not refund the shipping cost which was $9 and I said what about the other bottle? She said you only returning 3 so I can't refund the other one! I said, you never send it to me but I paid for 4 bottles! She said there was nothing she can do. This is a total scam! The other time I bought something on line it was for a set of 10 forks and 10 knifes. They sent an email that the order was ready for a pick up. I went and the order was incomplete, there were only 5 forks and 4 knifes. Their explanation, that was the only they had in stock! Why don't you email the customer informing of this? I don't want an incomplete set! Again, it smells like they are shady and liars. It looks like to me a class action law suit should be set up because this company lies and deceives customers all the time.
NEVER AGAIN! DO NOT SHOP ON LINE HERE!

I applied for a World Market credit card because I was planning on purchasing large ticket items and the incentive they were offering at time of application was 20% off my first order. The good news-when I applied they emailed me the 20% off code to use. When I finally received my credit card in the mail the incentive expired. I called to see if World Market would make good on it and they refused. I won't be purchasing from World Market and am cancelling their credit card.

Terrible all around
January 22, 2024

This company has no idea how to run a business. Order for pickup but turns out item is out of stock in stores for months, even when website says pickup in two days. Cancel and replace order for delivery in 4 days. It's now been 11 days and item shipped from California to Florida, arrived in Florida on the 18th and somehow is back in California on the 21st. Customer service is clueless and rude. Supervisors offer no additional help except the item is in transit. Company took almost 1300$ from me a month ago and I have no items to show for it. Do not use this company for any reason!

Manager was terrible.
January 1, 2024

Englewood CO: We were ready to buy a table, a sofa and carpet but wanted to sign up for the card for %20 off.The cashier told us that only the manager knew how to do this process. The manager insisted on checking people out and left this poor cashier to sign us up...who didn't know how to do it. We waited 20 minutes for help. The manager ignored us and then disappeared. She finally showed up to say she couldn't help us...we looked at her and then walked out. Will never shop there again

So, I ordered a daybed from World Market online ($750) it arrived promptly. When I unpacked the item I realized it was badly damaged. After several frustrating phone calls - sending photographs etc of the damage - they decided I could return it (thanks so much!) We agreed I'd bring it back to the store (50 miles away) that weekend, since there was no way I could re-pack it for pick up. Unfortunately I had e pretty tragic family situation that weekend and I did not end up going - it never even crossed my mind. The following Wednesday I get a call from a driver en route to my house to pick it up. I was surprised but relieved that I didn't have to make the trip to return it. But, customer service had been so incredibly inept up to this point that I took pictures of the truck and the driver loading the truck. 6 Weeks later and I still hadn't received a refund, so I call to see what's up. After moving up the chain and having to explain the situation over and over I send the pictures to the senior supervisor - her response is that they have no record of the pick up and the pictures are not their truck or their subcontractor and I should report the theft to the local police! At this point I want to report World Market to the police. How would a thief know to come pick up a broken daybed I bought at World Market? Anyway, the senior supervisor, who insisted she had no authority to make refunds and wouldn't tell me who could, told me we could not proceed until I filed a police report -so I did. Stay tuned and NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM WORLD MARKET.

So many games they play to screw the customer.
December 22, 2023

I'm agreeing with everyone else. They advertise free shipping on $49, BUT it's "oversized" it's $10 more. And, not in stock so another $23 to ship. $33 to ship. Customer Service was worthless and contacting the local store it was just sorry, not in stock and they could not request the warehouse to ship to a local store. In fact----this item was not available ANYWHERE in California! She said that when it comes it stock it will be higher priced.

Games, games, games. I purchased a large picture from them for $149. When I peeled off the sticker on the protective corner, it had on it that it was $129. So I got screwed out of $20 from the manufacturers price.

They up prices, not in stock so $33 shipping and won't request it to be delivered to store for pickup.

Not very customer service oriented compa

I went to buy some things in store, and happened to find some clearance items that I thought I could use. When o got to the register, one item marked 9.99 rang up as $50, and she fixed it to 13.50. Other items rang up weird prices and she acted like I was trying to pull one over on her. I found them like that, and just thought I could use them. I then tried using a coupon that I received two days ago and definitely never used, but it said it was used apparently. I gave up at that point, and rang everything up. I then noticed that she had in fact over charged me even after I thought she fixed it, so I went back through after picking up an online order. I got a different, much nicer cashier, and she said they could honor the coupon and fix the price on the thing that got over charged. We had to ring a whole new order to get the coupon applied which I figured would be okay. When she gave me my refund receipt, I didn't realize until I got home that she had just give me back the original receipt, so I don't even know if she actually refunded me. It was such a waste of time, and these are errors within the company, so I don't know why I got the runaround. I emailed the company to verify that a refund went through but haven't heard back. I'll be waiting to see if it comes through, but at this point, I kinda feel like they just double charged me… and especially seeing all the reviews, it seems this is company-wide and common. I'll happily update my review if this issue gets fixed, but at this point, I would definitely say to please don't shop at world market. Definitely go spend twice as much somewhere else because that's what you'll be paying here, and maybe you'll get treated better than gum on someone's shoe.
