Horrible customer service. Bought book in the past listed as "very good" and it was so I ordered this book listed as same. Book creased and dirty. Trying to get a refund is a nightmare. Will NEVER order from them again. Will stick with Thrift Books. Always ready to help.

Sent the wrong version of George Orwell Coming up for Air that was on their website.
Eventually accepted this was mistake but then told me I would need to pay the postage to send back, very bizarre!
Will be staying well clear in future.

Up until now I had nothing but good things to say about WOB. However my last order left a lot to be desired. I was sent what was supposed to be a "Very Good" copy of The Ink Black Heart only to receive one in hardback (I had requested paperback) and it was in abysmal condition. I contacted them via their website filled in the contact form hear from them until two days later at which point, they said they'd posted out replacement despite me replying, requesting a paperback copy they sent me another hardback in even worse condition than the first I have since emailed them several times requesting that I post the books back to them, so they can see the condition that they are in. I have not heard anything, and this is put me off purchasing future books from them. All I want is a refund and to return the two books. Why is this so hard?

I've since received a sub-par response from one of WOB's ironically named "Customer Support Heroes" stating that they will refund me if I return the books however they won't refund postage! This is absolutely unacceptable. I didn't even want the hardback in the 1st place and now I've got two of the damn things! Please could WOB get their act together and contact me via email to resolve this matter. I'm expecting a refund of a grand total of £4.32. Why on earth would I accept the request to pay postage for the return of the two books if you aren't going to refund postage. Combined weight of both books is 2.496 kilograms which parcelled up would equate to £5.99 I await your response.

Edit: After many emails, back and forth they honoured their special offer. It's heartening to think that they will have a dialogue with a (persistent) disgruntled customer and not just ignore them - which has led to me revising my one-star review into a 4-star one. I really wish that they would listen properly to the original complaint and not just brush it off.

Ordered a book on December 10th from world of books they kept telling me it'd be here by the 24th but here we are the 27th no book and when I talk to the in-between shipper OSM they say that they have no product whatsoever and just because it says it's sitting in Secaucus New Jersey doesn't mean it is they play with their labels it's still there it hasn't even been shipped. Meanwhile they're holding on to $21 for a book that is 30 years old. What a scam anybody who shops with world of books deserves what they get no book. No contact. No refund.

I ordered a book 3 weeks ago and haven't received it, making it a late Christmas gift. There was no estimated delivery when I ordered, or anything explaining delivery times, and there's no phone number for customer service or way of tracking aside from knowing when it left the warehouse.

Purchased book on the 9th.Dec, never received confirmation email, no phone or email contact anywhere for wob, found them on Facebook so used messenger, was told itempaid for date and no tracking available, I "should" get my item by 23rd, if not message back, I keep asking for a receipt as they took my money and I have nothing to prove I bought this item, been going on so long, sent friends to book shops to find this book before Xmas, every time I ask please email me a receipt I'm told you'll get a receipt when you receive the item. Do not buy from this company, save yourself the trouble

1st item arrived not matching the photo used online. Since complaining, they have now told me via email, they use a stock photo and not of the actual item you are purchasing. What I orderd and what I recieved are two different items. They want me to send it back at my own cost when it is them who has missold the item? Its is fulse advirtising! Why should I be out of pocket when you cannot list items correctly?
2nd Item condition did not match description. Claimed to be very good, but full of writing. I have since been told I will get a refund for this one, but not the one they listed incorrectly?

I ordered a book listed as "in excellent condition" and "very good." It was packed poorly with no protection, and was visibly wet and moldy when it arrived. Tried contacting seller, received a reply that they were "no longer in business" but "thank you for your interest" (?) so I contacted Abe (site I purchased through) and filed a complaint. In the following days I received several emails from WorldOfBooks asking me to purchase another copy from them.
UPDATE: WOB resolved the problem--both reimbursed me AND sent me a replacement copy in good condition. I think my initial communications were handled by bots, and after I complained, real humans intervened and resolved the issue.

Shocked at such poor customer service or any service for that matter. I ordered an item 17 days ago paying extra for express delivery and I am yet to receive it. Apparently as per tracking details Royal Mail are yet to receive it. It was due as per the email within 4 days. The phone number of WOB doesn't allow you to speak to anyone just directs you to email addresses. And those, despite saying they will respond within 24/48 are yet to reply some 7 days later. This includes the 'bot' system. How dare a company take your money without providing a product. This company does not appear trust worthy. I realise I am going on my experience but not to have a way of contacting or communicating with a company is very suspicious but is quick to take your money.

Not by any stretch of the imagine is scuffed spine (I expect cracked/broken under this category), creased front and back cover, red underscoring and margin marks on several pages, together with turned down corners "Very Good Condition". Three other books were as expected so this really soured the experience.

Purchased 'Very Good' and received 'Poor'. Damaged cover, damaged spine, writing inside, plus staining. Left message for customer service with promise of 48 hr response, nothing to date. Not worth the hassle. Back to Waterstones.
When a customer tells you repeatedly that you have sent the wrong item (paid for George Ezra "Gold Rush Kid" - received John Mclean - "EASY go") the right cd case containing - you guessed it - the wrong cd or that you have enclosed only cd 1 of a two cd set of a the wonderful Delibes opera Lakme - you just might expect a response! But Oh No NOT FROM WOB!

WOB lists books on eBay, where they identify themselves and their listed items as being located in Florida. They ship items exclusively for free and state that items will ship via USPS Standard Shipping.
EBay calculates the delivery time for their shipments on the basis of the information it receives from WOB, so according to eBay my book purchase on 10/08/2023 should arrive between 10/15 and 10/19/2023, including a 4 day handling period.
It WON'T. The book was actually picked up on 10/10/2023 from a location in Secaucus NJ by OSM Worldwide, a notoriously bad package handler used by WOB. The package sat in NJ in an OSM warehouse for 8 days, then arrived today at an OSM warehouse in York PA. The package still hasn't reached a USPS site.
The OSM Worldwide website instructs buyers to contact sellers about delivery issues. When I reached out to WOB, my enquiry was initially ignored, then eventually answered with a standardized reply instructing me to wait 16 business days for an item that was advertised on eBay as arriving directly from USPS within 4 days from a location 9 hours (two states away) from me. This is damnable.

I complained about a book that I had ordered not being delivered.
There response was to ask me to send them an image of the book that had not been delivered!
Am currently trying to get the book delivered or a refund but am finding it very very difficult.

Ordered 11 books. Not all were in the condition I hoped. One had something gross and crusty on the cover along with a few that had tears. But they're used so not the end of the world. There were 7 I returned which I did within their 30 day policy. Received money back for one of the packages for 3 books. The other package had 4 books and money wasn't returned. I have tracking to show both were delivered at same time. I've reached out 2 times to their customer service and they never bothered responding. I filed a complaint with the BBB in hopes of resolving. I'll also be reaching out to my credit card company in hopes of getting it resolved. Wouldn't use WOB ever again.

So I ordered 2 books.
One they didn't bother to send out, the other which was suppose to be 'good' condition arrived covered in dirt, the pages stained, ripped bent and honestly a joke condition. It also came with a sticker that said £1 on it…. So blatant rip off to charge me £6
Asked for a refund and they only sent half back. Absolutely disgusted. Email customer service and they either don't answer or answer something you didn't even ask.
Never again.
